SWE HOCKEY - Inclusion, positive news 2017/18

5 aug: The head coach of Tre Kronor Rikard Grönborg represents The Swedish Ice Hockey Association and walks in the Stockholm Pride Parade with one of the leading sports newspapers/sites Sportbladet, dressed in a customized Tre Kronor jersey.

15 aug: The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announces that linesmen and referees in the highest leagues in Sweden, (SHL, SDHL, hockeyallsvenskan, hockeyettan and the super-elit series), will be wearing the pride flag on their jerseys for the 17/18 season.
This to challenge and bring up the problems in hockey regarding macho culture and homophobia. The Swe Ice Hockey Association believes that they have not worked hard enough to end toxic cultures and trends like these in hockey. And that they haven’t lived up to the promise of making hockey inclusive, and to make homophobic language the exception and not the rule on the ice.
