Stone Town, Zanzibar - Tanzania

Stone Town is a city rich in East African history, culture, and the arts. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century, reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture, with the East African culture being preeminent, there is a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. The name Stone Town comes from the ubiquitous use of coral stone to construct many of the buildings.

well. let’s see. you have a country that is 65% shia, but they have their human rights violated on a daily basis. you have neighbourhoods that are prohibited for shias to enter, you have a police force that is made up ONLY of sunni muslims that brutalizes shias on the daily, and the bahraini royal family can’t stop tearing down historic shia mosques–on top of all of this, they’re engaging pre-genocidal tactics by expediting citizenship for arab sunni muslims in a pathetic attempt to make shias the minority in the country and kidnapping, torturing and killing shias every day. how will i EVER figure out why there was an uprising????

The Blue Mosque Seen from the Hagia Sophia - Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Christian patriarchal basilica, later an imperial mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. It’s construction dates back to 537 AD. The Sultan Ahmed Mosque is a historic mosque located in Istanbul’s historic centre. A popular tourist site, it continues as a mosque today. Construction of the Blue Mosque, as it is popularly known, was between 1609 and 1616 AD.


Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque - Damascus, Syria

Dating back to 682 CE, the mosque is a holy shrine & contains the grave of Zaynab bint Ali, the daughter of Imam Ali & granddaughter of the prophet Muahmmad.
