historical diamonds

My dad has a relatively coveted newspaper collection of historic events. We are in the process of organizing and sorting through them all so they can be put on display by the town. These are some that we pulled out today and I thought you guys might like to see them.

1. October 13th, 1930. Jack “Legs” Diamond is shot in New York.

2. November 23rd, 1963. John F. Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas Texas.

3. November 25th, 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald is shot dead by Jack Ruby in Dallas Texas.

4. October 5th, 1965. Pope Paul VI makes a historic visit to New York in a bid for peace, seen with president Johnson.

5. July 20th, 1969. Man lands on the moon.

The pride of the Topkapi Palace Museum and its most valuable single exhibit is the 86-carat pear-shaped Spoonmaker Diamond, also known as the Kasikci. Surrounded by a double-row of 49 Old Mine cut diamonds and well spotlighted, it hangs in a glass case on the wall of one of the rooms of the Treasury. Its origin is not clear. Like many other historic diamonds, it is difficult to seperate fact from fancy. One of the versions of the findings of a diamond described it as thus:

“In the year 1669, a very poor man found a pretty stone in the rubbish heap of Egrikapi in Istanbul. He bartered it to a spoonmaker for three wooden spoons. The spoonmaker sold the stone to a jeweler for ten silver coins. The jeweler consulted another jeweler who knew immediately that the pretty stone was really a precious diamond. When the second jeweler threatened to disclose the whole matter, the two men quarreled bitterly. Another jeweler heard the story and bought the diamond, giving a purse full of money to each of the angry jewelers. But now the Grand Vizier, Kopruluzade Ahmed Pasha, has heard of the gem. When Sultan Mehmed IV is told of the affair, he orders the stone be brought to the palace, and he takes possession of it. Whether he paid for it is not revealed. And, of course, no one knows what history preceded it being thrown into the garbage heap.”

My hobby is coming up with fal ship names.

Steven Universe Theory:  Geode Theory, The Most Powerful Gem Fusion, The Diamonds?

The Geode is said to house incredible power, capable of vaporizing everything in its wake, but is the Geode More than what the Gems told us?

The Geode is only known as a Bomb like threat, something waiting to explode. However, some things arise that could change the track the show is going.

Queen Nazli of Egypt’s historic diamond necklace, which she commissioned from Van Cleef & Arpels on the occasion of her daughter’s marriage in 1939

Queen Nazli possessed one of the largest and most magnificent jewelry collections in the world. A portion of it was sold at auction at Sotheby Parke Bernet in 1975 to support her and her daughter’s high standard of living in Los Angeles.

In light of the reveal of Sardonyx at the SDCC Steven Universe Panel, I’ll be redoing my theories of the Steven Bomb 3 episodes.

Starting off, Sardonyx isn’t a new gem, but instead a fusion of Pearl and Garnet.

Which changes a lot since I thought this week would have a heavy Sardonyx influenced week, but I think she’ll still appear in the first episode of Steven Bomb 3.

Cry For Help - “Steven’s favorite TV show gets interrupted by a magical disturbance.“

Going by the title, I originally thought it would be Sardonyx crying for help, but with the new reveal, I know that’s no longer the case. After watching the reveal again, I noticed something. The area Pearl and Garnet fused in looked very familiar.

Because it’s the same place they went to in Coach Steven.

The Communication Hub for Gems.
But why would they come back here?
“Steven’s favorite TV show gets interrupted by a magical disturbance.“
And what does this place have to do with that?

So overall Steven’s TV receives a signal from this place and the gems come here again, but for what? Well since they’re fusing that must mean they’re going to finish destroying the Communication Hub, and if they’re destroying it then maybe the message they received wasn’t the best of news. Maybe they intercepted a cry for help from Peridot (Maybe she took a transmitter from the kindergarten) that was being sent to Yellow Diamond. Which I think isn’t to far out there, since they did reveal Yellow Diamond in the full theme song.

Meaning she’s gotta be coming to the series soon.
Well that’s all I have for the first episode.

Keystone Motel - “The group take a trip outside Beach City.“

With a keystone being the last stone placed in the middle of an arch to secure everything together, I have two ideas of what this episode could be. 1) They leave Beach City to get away (motel) from the stress of the news of Yellow Diamond and Steven as the keystone has to pull them all back together.Or 2) They show Steven their “keystone motel,” such as a resting place for the Crystal Gems when the war was happening. Or maybe a combination of both.

Onion Friend - “Steven and Amethyst visit the strange world of Onion’s house.“

Same thing I said before, it’s Steven and Amethyst going to Onion’s house. I still want more Vidalia though.

Historical Friction

There might be some tales of Gem history from the gems in this episode, but from the promo it seems to be mainly a play with Jamie.

Friend Ship

Well now that there’s no Sardonyx space ship, I’m really hoping it’s a ship to find Malachite. Or maybe they’re talking about my favorite Ship, Connie and Steven. Either way this Steven bomb’s gonna end with a bang. ^o^

(I got the panel images from the videos posted on The World Of Steven Universe’s Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/theworldofsuclips)

Cut from an exceptional rough of over 770 carats, the historic Victory Diamond was the largest and most significant diamond discovered in the 1940’s from the Woyie River in eastern Sierra Leone. The rectangular-cut diamond of 31.34 carats, graded Type IIA and potentially internally flawless, was named ‘Victory’ in honor of the Allied victory in World War II.
