his speech was great

These are not normal times. These are extraordinary times. And extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.

When you have a spokesperson for the president of the United States wrap up a lie in the Orwellian phrase “alternative facts”…

When you have a press secretary in his first appearance before the White House reporters threaten, bully, lie, and then walk out of the briefing room without the cajones to answer a single question…

When you have a President stand before the stars of the fallen CIA agents and boast about the size of his crowds (lies) and how great his authoritarian inaugural speech was….

These are not normal times.

The press has never seen anything like this before. The public has never seen anything like this before. And the political leaders of both parties have never seen anything like this before.

What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!” And if someone won’t say it, those of us who know that there is such a thing as the truth must do whatever is in our power to diminish the liar’s malignant reach into our society.

There is one group of people who can do a lot - very quickly. And that is Republicans in Congress. Without their support, Donald Trump’s presidency will falter. So here is what I think everyone in the press must do. If you are interviewing a Paul Ryan, a Mitch McConnell, or any other GOP elected official, the first question must be “what will you do to combat the lying from the White House?” If they dodge and weave, keep with the follow ups. And if they refuse to give a satisfactory answer, end the interview.

Facts and the truth are not partisan. They are the bedrock of our democracy. And you are either with them, with us, with our Constitution, our history, and the future of our nation, or you are against it. Everyone must answer that question.

- Dan Rather calling on journalists to hold the GOP accountable for lies from the Whitehouse.

I admire Kim Junmyeon so much. He is one of the best leader out there. He makes sure that every member feels loved and isn’t left out, he cares about exo-ls so much and you can see it in his eyes whenever he gave his speech or even on a concert, and he is always so grateful for every award they got and also he take care and acknowledges junior groups not only from sm but also from other companies as well and also you can see the respect he has for his seniors. Junmyeon is one of the kindest and purest person out there. He works so hard to be where he is and he deserve everything that he has today and more.

Like many other elections in recent memory, Tuesday’s election was rife with ups and downs. Despite some major wins throughout the evening, Hillary Clinton wasn’t able to win enough Electoral College votes to close the lead Donald Trump maintained. After a tight race that trudged on into the early hours of Wednesday morning, Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States.

The rise of a candidate with no experience in the military or elected office baffled many in politics. But Trump won voters over with his promise to “Make America Great Again.”

In his acceptance speech, Trump called for unity among Democrats, Republicans and independents. “I say it’s time for us to come together as one united people.”

“Working together, we will begin the urgent task of working together and renewing the American dream,” he said.

As her supporters cried and hugged each other, Clinton did not make an appearance at her event just a mile away at the Javits Center.

“We are so proud of you, and we are so proud of her. She has done an amazing job and she is not done yet,” Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta said in her stead.

LMAO MY GRANDPA DIDNT GO TO THE RIGHT ROOM AT THE FUNERAL HOME TODAY AND HE WAS LOOKING AT THE COFFIN WITH A SAD LOOK AND THE PASTOR MADE HIS SPEECH AND HE WAS SAYING “george was a great man” AND MY GRANDPA WAS LIKE “WHO IS GEORGE?” AND GEORGE’S FAMILY WAS HERE AND NOBODY DARED TO ASK WHO MY GRANDPA WAS AND MY GRANDPA WAS TOO EMBARRASSED TO LEAVE IM CRYING OF LAUGHTER

Tom Hiddleston apologized for his self-congratulatory acceptance speech, and that’s really great.

What’s not great is all of the white folks I see crying about how he shouldn’t have to apologize and how people get offended at everything these days wah wah.

Sometimes, even the people we like say and do shitty things, and they should be called out for that. Tom Hiddleston handled it with grace. I don’t understand why his supporters can’t.

Brandon Lawson has been missing since August 9th, 2013. He was 26 at the time. He disappeared under strange circumstances and the theories about what happened to him go from meeting foul play to going into hiding and leaving everything behind.

The facts: Brandon left his house in San Angelo, Texas, close to midnight on August 8th after an argument with his longtime girlfriend (and mother of three of his four kids) Ladessa Lofton. At around 12:38 am, he called his brother Kyle from Highway 277 near Bronte, Texas, and told him he’d ran out of gas and he was waiting on the side of the road. Then, around 12:50 am he called 911 asking for help.

The 911 call: In his brief contact with the dispatcher, Brandon sounds agitated, breathless, upset and it’s very hard to understand him. The area doesn’t have great reception, but from his slurred speech he might have been under the influence of something. There are a lot of interpretations out there of what he said, but some things are clearer. He says he’s in the middle of the field, that someone pushed someone over, that his truck got out of gas and a car got taken through the woods. He then says “please hurry”. When the dispatcher asks him to repeat, his words get more confusing. He seems to say “we’re not talking to them” and then either “I ran into them” or “what need to know”. The dispatcher understood the former and repeats, so Brandon says “yes, the first guy”. Then she asks if he needs an ambulance, and he replies “no, I need the cops”. In slowed versions of the call, that you can listen to here, possibly another voice can be heard in the background. Then the call cuts off.

After the call: Kyle Lawson arrived at the scene around 1:10 am with his girlfriend, at the same time as a police officer. It’s unclear if the cop got there because of Brandon’s call or a following 911 call made by a trucker passing by who almost ran into Brandon’s car because of the way it was left in the road. Considering he didn’t mention to Kyle that Brandon had called 911, it was probably the latter. There were no signs of Brandon anywhere, but he’d taken his keys and cell phone. At 1:19, Brandon called Kyle but the service was so bad they couldn’t understand him very well. What they made out was that he was 10 minutes up the road and that he was bleeding. Then the call died and even though they looked for him, they couldn’t find any trace. Kyle also thought he said he was “hiding in the brush”, and he assumed it was because he had an arrest warrant from two years prior on some drug charges, and he was hiding from the cops. He didn’t know his brother had called the cops so he didn’t say anything until next day, when it became clear Brandon was missing. No one from the family knew about the 911 call until 4 days later, when it appeared on cell phone records.

So what happened? Some people believe Brandon ran away because of that warrant, but according to his girlfriend he’d only found out about it recently and was sorting it out. Furthermore, if he was afraid he’d get caught, why would he ask for the police? And what did he see, that’s so hard to understand from his words? Another theory is he was involved with drug dealing and something happened or he saw something that night. No one is sure what he was doing in that highway or what was his destination. It’s also possible he was under the influence and hallucinating, but then how would he get so far without being found?

Reasons to love Hellsing Ultimate
  • All the best characters have glasses
  • Lots of characters have glasses, not just the “one nerdy person”
  • The Major is a Nazi, but not a cliched Hitler rip-off.
  • The series does not try to make humans look horrible, but rather shows what makes humanity great…even the vampire thinks humans are superior to vampires.
  • They managed to make a Nazi cat-boy meow in a menacing manner
  • This is one of the few English dubs that is actually better than the original Japanese.
  • No, seriously, I did a lot of comparing. The English writing and acting are both better.
  • Suddenly Priests are freaking Bada**
  • The Major ives really great speeches…even if they are about his love of war and destruction.
  • Integra is a strong woman who is not sexualized in any way. Heck, she could kick everyone’s butt.
  • Seras can switch between being terrifying to being adorable.
  • FEELS.
Thoughts on episode 4x10

(Spoilers ahead, obviously)

I’m quite content with this episode. A part of me is disappointed not to see WBY, but I think the episode was well-put together and I like how it tied Ren and Nora’s past to the current events (giving us some well-desired character development as well as a bit of plot progression).

Admittedly, I’m a bit bothered by the talk between Ruby and Jaune.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticizing Jaune as a character here. His speech was genuinely great and he seems to be a good leader.

What bugs me is that at this point of the story, I’m really craving to see some development on Ruby’s side. She has been through so much and I really want to see how affected she was by the Fall of Beacon. So I got really excited when she started apologizing, I thought we’d get to see some insight… but we didn’t?
I felt that the scene was aiming to redeem Jaune as a character, rather than really give a focus to Ruby and her struggles.
To be more specific and cut things short, it doesn’t sit right with me that /Jaune/ is the one who talks about what /Ruby/ has been through. /She/ should have been the one to mention that she also lost Pyrrha, and Penny, and her teammates in a way. Ever since the beginning of the volume, I’ve been waiting for that moment Ruby would talk about what happened and it bugs me that it didn’t, Jaune talked about it for her instead. It was a good speech on his part but I can’t help but feel that it is taking away some part of Ruby’s development. I would have found it much better if she had talked some more, before he finally comforted her. Two birds with one stone, kinda.

So um yeah, that’s it. I had to let this out.
Please note that I’m not hating, I love the show and that’s exactly why I criticize it.

*warning rant about to begin*
Ok so Tom Hiddleston won a golden globe this weekend, which I think is amazing and well deserved as he’s a great actor! During his acceptance speech instead of just thanking everyone and talking about himself, like everyone else does, he decided to raise awareness about the suffering children in Sudan. I think that this was a lovely thing to do but people on twitter disagree. He has had so many hateful comments about his speech, which personally I think is disgusting! He tried to do something good and everyone always tries to turn it into something bad! I seriously don’t know what is wrong with the people in our world. They’re all just selfish, wrapped up in their own lives and don’t care about all the pain and suffering in the world. Get some compassion people! And don’t take it out on Tom cause he was only trying to do something nice!
*Rant over and breathe*

So, here in front of you all, my first and last vow.

If you are feeling helpless and hopeless or on the brink of giving up… I urge you to listen to his final speech as president. He has instilled great hope in my heart that we will be okay. That us young people will outnumber them one day and we will lead our nation to a better life of equality and freedom for all Americans. Our votes did not lie. I believe in the youth of America. Never give up.

I don't love Trump but let's address his brilliance:

He did what Bernie attempted. He was a third party candidate, who hijacked one of the major parties, and then used that party’s network and money to win the election. Watching the GOP get invaded was amazing and entertaining. And THEN, he calls out that party during his inaugural speech.

No matter what else happens, that was great.
