his comical timing is the best

Yuuri tells Victor his thoughts during their first dance.

I want to thank @thehobbem so, so much for co-writing the dialogue! She spent hours going through metas and crafting this line-by-line with me. Yuuri was much harder to write for than Victor and I couldn’t have done it without her tireless work. ;u; I also want to thank @teasidesketches for doing final revisions despite not being in the fandom. You two are the best. <3

I also want to dedicate this to @solfegefaerie for being the first one to give me the idea of writing Yuuri’s vows. They’re not vows this time, but I thought this was suiting. :)

If you can, you should read this while listening to “Yuri on Ice.” I matched the flow of the comic to that of the song, hence the tribute to the representation of Yuuri as the lone piano until Victor comes into his life as the violin (in case you were wondering about the sudden Music AU thrown in the middle there).

Pair comic to Victor’s Vows.

For those who don’t know what Samurai Jack is and why we should be stoked that it’s coming back:

It’s a really good show to watch if you want to learn about the use of color and shapes in storytelling, as well as exaggerated perspective, use of negative space, timing, and narrative arcs. I recommend it to all comic artists, storyboarders, illustrators, cinematographers, writers… heck, ANYONE. GET HYPE.

I….I finally did it after a along ass time scrapping scenes

The lyric comic is based on a comment in the music video which was this: “This version sounds like she’s mourning the potential.”

The idea began from that, where a different color on your skin represents the love and affection you have for the person. If you don’t see your color on them, then your love is unrequited.

There is some elements of my GTA 5 AU in this comic hence the guns and stuff. Also fun fact: Wildcat’s convo with Vanoss hints to my Minicat comic that I made before. Wildcat knows what Vanoss is going through and he didn’t want his friend to suffer the same heartbreak like he did.

Anyway hope you enjoy it!

Alright so the subject of Ana being the source of the rift between Gabriel and Jack is starting to come up more.

And something that everyone talking about this issue should be aware of is that there is a HUGE miscommunication thing going on between all three Old Soldiers.

Jack and his team are LITERALLY in the middle of taking off.  He says that he literally has two second before they fly off.

People miss this panel A LOT, but here, Ana turns off her comms device.

So what does this mean?

Jack was trying to pull a retreat.  He had the hostages, the remaining members of their squad was safe, he was trying to get Ana to reign in whatever drive was fueling her to square off against this other sniper.

It’s not hard to believe that by turning off the comms device, Ana may have turned off her GPS signaling or any other way of pinging her location to Jack and the rest of their squad.  Whether this was intentional or not is debatable.

So do I think Ana was wrong?  Hard to say.  This fight of hers was irresponsible, even if it was motivated by purer feelings (”I failed my unit - I lost members of my family.”).

The saying is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and this is a theme common to all three “Old Soldiers” (Ana, Soldier: 76/Jack, Reaper/Gabriel).  This is, arguably, “the theme” of Overwatch as a whole group too - as we saw in Uprising, Jack and Gabriel both made the call to send agents to London against multiple orders from multiple people (their director Petras, UN suspensions, and the UK government).

But going back to the issue of Ana’s “death”:

(It’s important to note that Reaper does not stay for Ana to give him any sort of explanation.  In fact, he doesn’t even stay to find out how she’s still alive.)

So, clearly someone thinks that Jack left Ana behind and abandoned her in favor of the mission.

And certainly, it looks bad on Jack’s part - to “force a retreat” with his own captain not on board the ship.  We don’t know if Jack tried to find Ana after and could not relocate her, or anything else.  But certainly, it seems that some people in Overwatch think he did not do enough to find her and bring her home.

But in Uprising, Gabriel and Jack still had decent communication occurring between them.  So what exactly happened?  Assuming that Jack tried to explain that he lost communication with Ana, why does seemingly his ex-best friend and companion of nearly 30 years not believe him?

We already know that stress was beginning to build within Overwatch by the time of the Uprising comic - Blackwatch was under suspension, Jack was under pressure to listen to Petras “and stay in line,” governments were beginning to lob complaints, public outcry was starting.

More importantly, if the new skins are anything to go by, Amélie was already kidnapped and brainwashed.

Which means Talon had already infiltrated Overwatch.

It’s not difficult to theorize that some “enterprizing” Talon infiltrator saw the miscommunication over Ana’s “death” start between Gabriel and Jack, and decided to use that moment to drive a wedge between them.  Perhaps Jack gets called into the UN Headquarters to explain how Ana died.  Perhaps the Talon infiltrator uses that moment to convince Gabriel that Jack “is lying to cover his own failures and that he actually abandoned Ana.”  Perhaps Gabriel is so caught up in his grief and confusion that he believes them.  Perhaps Jack gets a different (or even the same) Talon infiltrator trying to convince him that Gabriel is “behaving irrationally” or “refuses to listen to Jack’s explanation.”

This is a lot speculation, and without knowing more it’s hard to get any more specific.  But I see this order of events as pretty likely.  If we assume that Genji and Jesse leave soon after Ana’s death (Genji to find himself and Jesse out of stress and pressure), then Gabriel is effectively without a solid emotional support network to rely on.  If we believe that Gabriel was “emotionally isolated” by the conspiracy within Overwatch, it’s fairly straightforward to see how he comes to blame Jack and Overwatch as a whole for “leaving him behind to suffer” as well.

I think people are quick to sympathize with the different Old Soldiers, but fewer people seem to see the steps that could lead someone to become like Ana, Reaper, or Soldier: 76.  All it takes is a simple mistake or miscommunication moment, and those who are looking to bring Overwatch down could easily find an opportunity to chisel away at a solid foundation.

And after all -

The best way to undermine something is to take out part of the base level foundation - the original founders of Overwatch.

And then the whole thing comes crumbling down.

Fandometrics is free this week!

It’s free every other week, too.

anonymous asked:

you know so much about bruce, please tell us some less know traits about him or just random facts or even headcanons please i love it when you talk about bruce!!!

oh my gosh, i love this ask. i’m glad you like it when i talk about bruce because i love talking about bruce and am always looking for the excuse to. ~just vengeance things~ include:

  • he is, actually, very sweet to civilians. he would sacrifice his identity if it meant saving a single person, and yes i can confirm his weakness is actually babies the ratio of times batman has held a baby compared to other characters is absolutely insane. and in BTAS, there’s an episode where he rescues a little girl and comes back to visit her just to make sure she’s okay. and in the BTAS tie-in comics, he rescued people’s pets, kept kids out of traffic, helped put out fires, the works. and also he went out of his way to find dick’s teddy bear
  • he has a sense of humor! i promise you! he just saves it for when no one’s looking, which is what he does with every trait someone might possibly misconstrue as cute. gotham knights made it canon that he talks to the bats in the batcave. he probably talks to them about cases when nobody else is around to bounce ideas off of
  • bruce paid for a class field trip after jason died because helping kids made the loss more bearable - he also visits troubled kids in canon and takes an active role in their life, to the point where one time he was concerned about kids he sponsored getting in a bad way and showed up literally at their house, because despite having 708983 responsibilities as batman he still makes time for that
  • this fucker has protocols in place for contacting him. the JL have to go through a goddamn system to get 5 minutes with him, and you just know it’s an excuse so bruce has to talk to people less, you just know it. also, this is in the same comic where plastic man recruits bruce to scare his wayward son straight, bruce is nervous about scaring a kid, and gives patrick an actual compliment (“of all of us, even clark, i thought you would make the best father. because i thought you would be the kind of father that would show his children that he loved them, instead of just telling them. i thought you would make them laugh all of the time.”) and encourages patrick to reconnect with his son
  • once put on enough make-up to trick people into thinking he was a guy dressed as bruce wayne who might possibly be batman, while he was actually bruce wayne who is actually batman. he disguised himself….. as himself. i fucking hate him. when oliver queen found out his identity how much do you wanna bet he was beyond pissed
  • i’m not kidding about the justice snuggle thing. he does actually do that, where he perches on something and puts his chin on his knees. he does it in front of gordon, and also the justice league. someone who refuses to show people he has 1 iota of personality is totally comfortable curling up like a small child. what even is this man
  • when tired and injured sometimes he just collapses wherever. in knightfall, he passes out by a dumpster, and a roof, and on the stairs. in the batman and robin 2011 run he makes it to a hallway and alfred finds him just like crashed on the ground. in batman: year one, he literally just sits in a chair casually bleeding all over everything until a bat crashes through his window
  • tries to tell people he cares for them in a really roundabout way filled with metaphors and lots of grand gestures. the only person who usually understands them is dick, and even then it’s like 75% of the time. if he actually says the word ‘love’, the vulnerability of the moment will cause him to keel over and die
  • master of the uncomfortable invasion of privacy. i cannot stress this enough. if you bought purple listerine instead of blue this week, he’s watching you. he has your number. he has a file on everything that breathes, and also he writes everything down. he has like 400 some files on hugo strange alone, he knows whether the man prefers coke or pepsi. also, three words: brother eye satellite
  • whenever something emotionally traumatic happens he locks himself in the batcave for a while because he is a turtle (of justice) and the batcave is his shell
  • now, this one is mostly a headcanon i was talking with audrey about earlier (i say mostly because i’m 65% sure there’s a panel somewhere that made it canon that bruce helped train kyle, but my receipts folder is 5 miles long) but i do solidly believe bruce is one of the people who teaches inexperienced league members, along with other expertly trained league members like diana and dinah. not only because of his expertise in martial arts, but also because he’s had more experience than other heroes training individuals to be the best they possibly can. he is absolutely the tough love coach. he is the AP teacher that knocked off points for every little mistake and made you cry three times a week, but it was worth it when you got a 5 on that exam and were so far ahead of the curve in college the class was a breeze
  • summary: i love batman
  • a lot
  • like a whole lot
  • he’s trying his best

TEACHERS - VILAINS

The batcave? Well..

Sometimes, it’s a fun place to be in. Damian always gets bullied by his brothers, but I know it’s just for fun. They’re brothers after all.

Sometimes, Bruce always gets stressed out, but Alfred is always there for him. Alfred is like.. A father figure of sorts to, mister Bruce.

Damian also has this really loud friend that visits from time to time. Alfred isn’t exactly fond of the young boy, but that’s okay.

But y’know..

I think the best part about living here is the family.

Yeah definitely…

I’m late to the Fantastic Beasts party but I arrived on time to crank out a comic for Valentine’s Day. Queenie drags Tina to a certain bakery to court a certain baker and give her sister a special surprise…

I kept thinking about the last shred of Credence escaping and materializing elsewhere in NY, without his memory and into the arms of people who love him and would never take advantage of him. I also really need for Tina to know that Credence is okay.

Special thanks to @exhibit-no-restraint for being the best cheerleader and a tolerant friend as I wailed about sad boys

Jon decided to bring Damian along to their trip to the county fair this year. They went on a lot of rides, ate some junk food and even got a couple prizes. The boys by the end of the day were exhausted. Damian might not admit to it later but he had a genuinely good time with his partner and boyfriend best friend.

Can you guess the prizes they got?? The green one might be hard to tell but I’ll give you a hint, it’s a pickle!

Iz Explains Stuff So You Don’t Have to: The Nightwing Debacle.

Hey guys! As promised, here’s a write up of what’s currently making waves in the DC/comic fandom today. Given that this subject somewhat related to the Hydra-cap nonsense, I thought it should be something I cover as well, just to sorta give non-comics fans/DC comics readers who might see this and want some context.

1. Who is Nightwing?

You guys know Robin, Batman’s sidekick who they almost always leave out of movies? This is the first (yes there’s more than one, but that’s a topic for another day) and possibly most iconic one to pop-culture. Named Richard “Dick” Grayson, Dick is the son of the flying Grayson’s , two circus acrobats who died due to mob interference during a show (he also has Romani heritage (which the comics often ignore) This will be important later). Bruce took Dick in and the rest is well history.

Dick probably has the most screen time over any Robin in film/tv adaptations, including Teen Titans, Young Justice, The Lego Batman movie, the original Adam West series, and Batman Forever. He’s arguably the best known Robin to non-comic’s readers.

Because time does pass in comics occasionally, Dick grew up and after a series of events that have been retconned so many times it’s not worth getting into, ditched the Robin mantle. He would later take up the title of Nightwing.

2. Why the name Nightwing?

Dick is a HUGE fan of Superman (no really, Superman is pretty much his uncle) and after he ditched the Robin title, Superman and him had a talk where Superman told him of two legendary kryptonian heroes Nightwing and Flamebird. Inspired by the story, Dick would take on the name of the former (the latter name has a much more varied history).

3. Okay, so what’s the big deal besides the Robin thing?

To compress a lot of history into a paragraph, Nightwing is the one DC hero that like almost every other DC hero trusts and likes. Most of the Justice League has known Dick since he was a little kid and trust him implicitly for both his general good nature and reputation of being like, a really fucking good guy. Like a really good guy. A good enough guy that when Batman was told to let his own world die to let a better more “ideal” world survive, he asked if Richard Grayson was in it to make his choice on if it actually was a better world. (Dick was not in this world, which made Batman hard pass on that shit. Really. This is a thing that happened.)

Dick has also led multiple successful superhero teams, worked on the league himself, and donned the Batman title for awhile.

4. Okay, got it. So what’s going on?

Today DC announced a new six issue limited series in an elseworld (which is a world that takes place outside of canon. Think an AU.) This is the summary:

NIGHTWING: THE NEW ORDER is the story of a future world without “weapons”—where superpowers have been eliminated and outlawed. The man responsible? None other than Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing, now leader of a government task force called the Crusaders who are charged with hunting the remaining Supers. But when events transpire which turn the Crusaders’ aim toward Grayson’s own family, the former Boy Wonder must turn against the very system he helped create, with help from the very people he’s been hunting for years—the last metahumans of the DC Universe.

5. OH NO IS THIS HYDRA CAP ALL OVER AGAIN?

Yes and no. So far, it’s safe to say that this series does echo Hydra Cap in a paragon for good and justice becoming the figurehead of a fascist regime. However, everything else is kind of more murky.

For one, this series is an elseworld, which means unlike Hydra Cap, it doesn’t take place in the regular DC universe. This is not the fate of the Dick Grayson we know and love, nor is it him; it’s a version of him in a different universe. It’s also a limited run, so we got an enddate on this sucker off the bat.

Second, this is more general fascism instead of nazi brand fascism. The first cover echoes other fascist/oppressive regimes but it applies to multiple besides the Nazi party. In the DC universe, metahumans aren’t coded as a minority group (though smaller subsets are, like the Superfamily being coded Jewish), so it’s more sci-fi than an allegory for real life oppression (though if depending on the details of this event, that remains to be seen. The writer took to Twitter to state there is absolutely no genocide here in this book but the first few pages imply otherwise and long story short, I’m not convinced). The group Dick works with is also entirely new and unlike Hydra has no link in history to the Nazi party, making the claim that they’re a general “evil fascist villain” hold water.

Third, unlike Hydra Cap, this book is branded as Dick learning the error of his choices rather than a long saga to try to convince us he has a point. I doubt we’ll see the same extent of “we should feel bad for Dick oppressing all these people” that we see in Hydra cap. However, this also remains to be seen. Long story short, it’s never gonna try to get us to root for the bad guy.

6. So it’s fine?

Now I wouldn’t say that. Making an iconic character a fascist is still something to side eye, and a lot of my above caveats can change if the story itself decides to make those connections (i.e if there are prison camps for example). It’s also important to note, that making a Romani character a fascist, and one under the label of “crusader” is in terrible taste, considering the Romani people’s history with both.

The writer is also someone I don’t have a ton of faith in when it comes to nuance. (though to his credit, he is assuring and validating concerns on twitter rather than laughing us all off as SJWs).

What I’m saying is that it’s gonna be hard to figure out exactly this is going to play out until I see the first issue. I think the storyline and the advertising is something we should be critical of, but a lot still depends on how the book approaches it. This isn’t to say you should “give it a chance” only that we might want to hold off from saying DC is promoting fascism until we see if they’re gonna take this from a “feel bad for Dick angle, not all fascists are bad” or a “Dick fucked up hard” angle. We can just say this storyline is at the very least insensitive given current events and Dick’s ethnic roots.

Plus, Dick turning on Superman is just weird, and the preview pages are not helping my concerns.

So be critical of the concept but be careful not to declare what the narrative is trying to say until we know what the narrative is.

7. And if it does come out to be “feel bad for Dick, not all fascists, narrative supports the fascist regime for just wanting the best for us” angle?

Then go crazy guys. Though even if it does go that way, it still won’t be as Hydra cap. Because at least it’s still only a elseworld.  Which is like the worst consolation prize ever.

Unseen Friendship - Page 11 - Epilogue - Collab Comic with @splatdash

comic archive

I think it was finally time. We got to see Orca’s face, it’s only fair we see Angelo’s too. I wasn’t sure I’d include this epilogue but I decided in the end it was for the best and I finished this page this week. I wanna thank @splatdash again for making this comic collab with me. This was such a fun project and I enjoyed it a lot.

So yes, he’s half inkling, half octoling. I’ve dropped enough hints of this with his tendency to get sick easily, having sharp teeth and with his goggles being real deals. And many people started to catch on too (oh the amount of messages I got, haha). There is a lot I could say about Angelo and his backstory but more of that later.

Oh and hey, meet his mom, Tarina. Happy mothers’ day.
