Plant of the Day

Thursday 14 April 2016

Himalayacalamus falconeri (bamboo) has elegant slender, flexible canes which are a gleaming olive green with small fluttering leaves. It is best when the culms (stems) are thinned and the lower foliage is removed. It can reach up to 3m growing in semi-shade (light woodland) or sun but thrives with a moist soil. Here it forms a wonderful semitransparent screen.
