I wanna talk about Keith and hugs. Keith loves hugs. He never rejects them or moves away from them and more often than not they leave him smiling and lingering close:
But. Oh god. He’s always so careful with his hugs. So, so careful. Like, compare them to Hunk’s:
Keith’s hugs are just…. they are so gentle… there’s no pressure… everything is slow and soft…. he’s so careful not to overdo it…..
Keith gives the softest hugs, they are barely there… and that’s so interesting. Keith doesn’t shy away from physical contact, he reaches out when someone needs help getting up and has no problems with placing his hand on someone’s arm/shoulder to encourage them etc. It’s not the touch itself that troubles him. Look at the group hug, he doesn’t mind getting squished between other bodies. Heck, he obviously likes it!!
But his hugs. His hugs are like his smiles. Keith isn’t used to showing affection. He loves receiving it, it doesn’t embarrass him at all, but he doesn’t really know how to do it himself. His hugs are soft and tender and careful, always open so that the other one can pull away in case they feel uncomfortable or don’t want him.
JUST. PLEASE GIVE HIM MORE HUGS. SHOWER HIM IN AFFECTION, DROWN HIM IN IT, TEACH HIM HOW TO HUG TIGHTLY, MAKE HIM FEEL APPRECIATED, MAKE HIM FEEL HAPPY-
Guys, a thought: because Peter’s senses have been “dialed to eleven,” as a result of the bite, does that mean he feels pain more accutely than before, too? Are things more sharp and intense?
And then along those same lines: if he hears, sees, smells and tastes so much more, does that also mean his emotions resonate more deeply within him now, too? When he’s happy, is it more exuberant because he can experience it so much more intensely? He can actually feel a laugh vibrating his skin and igniting his heart. When he’s sad or angry, does he feel it down to his very bones? He can smell salty tears and taste venomous words. When he loves, is it with so much more of himself because he’s felt it more thoroughly than anyone else truly could? He can touch and feel the way affection beats and pulses against greedy fingertips and hungry hearts.
No one can tell me that Peter Benjamin Parker isn’t an emotional warrior. No one will be able to convince me that that boy doesn’t feel EVERYTHING deep inside of his soul, and that’s why he is the way he is. That’s why he cares so much. That’s why he beats himself down when he feels like he’s failed. Because it’s all there in ultra high definition for him to soak in and playback over and over again.
I like to think that Lance is one of those guys that says “I love you” a lot. To everyone and about anything. He loves the beach, he loves space, he loves flying, he loves his family, he loves his friends, he loves people– and he’ll just say so, too. Whenever he thinks it. He’s constantly blurting out declarations of undying love for Hunk whenever he eats his cooking. When Pidge is getting too techno-y for him he tells her that “I love you and all, but you’re being way too nerdy right now Pidge.” He loves Coran’s mustache. Loves the way Shiro’s always there just when you need him. Allura saves his butt from getting stabbed by a galra droid once and has he mentioned he loves her lately? Lance says “vol” and Keith says “vol… tron?” and Lance pats him on the head and says “love you, man, never change.” He just loves a lot. Loves this group of people. And he wants them to know.
