Today was our last day in Organ Pipe Cactus. We packed up Hobbes after watching the sunrise one last time. We headed over to the other side of the monument to drive the Ajo Mountain Loop. Starting from the visitors center the road took us east through large stands of saguaro and organ pipe cactus and then along the the base of the Ajo Mountains.
From the backside of the loop road we hiked up Estes Canyon to Bull Pasture. The views were spectacular again and it was interesting to watch the flora change as we gained elevation toward the ridge.
I am sad to leave this beautiful place, though I did a good deal of exploring.
