HiH Tea Blends | Hufflepuff House • “for hufflepuff, hard workers were most worthy of admission” • chamomile, pumpkin spice, candy apple

For Hufflepuff I went with chamomile for the main component of my tea. It’s an herbal tea, which seems earthy to me (much like Hufflepuffs) and I always think of chamomile as being very soothing, so it seemed like a good combination. I chose pumpkin spice to go along with it because pumpkins are also an earthy food, but we want to remember that Hufflepuffs can have a bit of spice to them (like Tonks). As for candy apple, it seemed like a fun and sweet flavor, which is what I think about when I think of Hufflepuff. Plus, both pumpkin and apple are often ingredients in pie, which is a nice comfort food.Colleen

( Feedback is especially appreciated since we weren’t too certain about the percentages and intend to fumble around with those to make them work out perfectly. ♥ )

HiH Tea Blends | Ravenclaw House • “for ravenclaw, the cleverest would always be the best” • snowbud, yerba mate, valentines

For the Ravenclaw blend I wanted something light, very abstract with a dreamy undertone. I added a strong Snowbud base to my blend to make it clean and light and to add effervescence that mimics Ravenclaws’ constantly bubbling thoughts. It also goes along with air being the element traditionally associated with Ravenclaw. I added Yerba Mate for the tobacco and grass notes, which remind me of old libraries and reading books in the sunshine. In order to prevent the blend from becoming too cold, I completed it with a touch of Valentines for a little bit of sentimentality and romance.Alice

HiH Tea Blends | Slytherin House • “and power-hungry slytherin loved those of great ambition” • earl grey green, oriental spice, lapsang souchong

I decided I wanted a green tea for Slytherin since that is their main color and chose the Earl Grey green tea because Earl Grey is such a traditional and refined tea, which makes me think of Slytherin. It’s also a dry tea, which makes me think of Slytherin and how they sometimes have a dry wit. I went with oriental spice because it seems exotic and kind of reminds me of something Slughorn would probably like. As for the lapsang souchong, it’s described as being “savory and smoky, yet slightly cool and menthol with a golden-coppery liquor.” If that doesn’t sound like Slytherin I don’t know what does!Colleen

HiH Tea Blends | Gryffindor House • “by gryffindor, the bravest were prized far beyond the rest” • tiger eye, blood orange, wild strawberry

Tiger Eye - Not only does this have a fitting name but enjoying it in lieu of something else makes me think of Gryffindor procrastination and love of fun! Blood Orange - I picked this first and foremost because it has Gryffindor colors – deep red and fading from orange to yellow. I also think Gryffindors are very hearty (meaning loudly vigorous and cheerful) and also have very warm and bright personalities which is what oranges remind me of. Gryffindors are often brave and sometimes even reckless which is how the word ‘blood’ ties into it :) Wild Strawberry - I picked this ingredient because the wildness, the beautiful warmth, the pleasant without being super sweet all remind me of the Gryffindor personality! :)Phoebe

HiH Tea Blends | Hogwarts is Home • “to educate young sorcerers thus hogwarts school began” • spiced mate, vanilla, sour apple

I wish I could have four choices so I could pick a tea for each house! But I only have three so I wanted to pick three very different flavors for this HiH mix to represent all of the different people we find here (but not limited to the four Hogwarts house personality traits). I picked Spiced Mate to represent the fiery, bold, outgoing, playful side of HiH. I picked Vanilla to represent our soft edges – the sweetness, the kindness, the generosity and the compassion we find here so often. And I picked Sour Apple to represent our quirks, what makes us unique and what makes us us.Phoebe

Ah, hello there, I was wondering, the House Blend teas, are they in the little pouches that you steep or are they leaves you have to put in a tea strainer? I've never ordered teas online nor used a strainer so I'm a little clueless. My apologies for being a bother xD;;

Hello there!

You’re not a bother at all. :D The House Blends are all loose leaf teas (as are all blended teas on Adagio, I think), so you’d need to put them in a strainer or infuser. :) (I personally only have infusers, a fabulous teapot and paper filters for those tees that aren’t big enough for the infuser. Coffee filters will do in times of great need, but I find that I need to let it steep a bit longer when I use those. It’s probably just a personal preference, though.)

A good rule for loose tea is one teaspoon of tea makes one cup and you can go from there and fiddle around with that if you need the flavour to be stronger.

If you’ve got any more questions, feel free to ask, anon. ♥

(Also. From the feedback we got so far, the tastiest of our teas are Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, whereas Slytherin should not be your first try, apparently. We’re fiddling with that one.)
