Pretty In Pink – The Small Isles of Eigg and Rùm viewed from Ardtoe, Moidart by Steven Marshall Via Flickr: On a drive home from east to west along the shores of Loch Sunart, I saw some wonderful light emerging in the west as the sun began to set, so decided to head for Ardtoe to catch sight of the Small Isles of Eigg and Rùm in what turned out to be a stunningly beautiful pink evening sky. There was only the slightest of wind meaning that a calm sea reflected the breath-taking colours and bathed An Sgurr on Eigg and Ainshval, Trollaval, Beinn nan Stac and Askival on Rùm in a wonderful pastel hue.
A small selection of ice-houses which are the precursors to electric refrigeration. In times when wholesale netting of salmon was more prevalent, these were used to preserve the fish. They can be found all around the British Isles coast and in northern USA and Cananda.
