I think they were asking what subjects or majors you would see the labels you have studying in school !!

thank you !!! since there wasn’t any labels specifically mentioned, i just did a few different ones. but really, any label could do any major if you want them to !! it all depends on your character’s personal interests, which may or may not reflect their label !! i found it difficult to do it for labels based on personality, as opposed to interests. such as the vixen, the connard, etc !! i honestly feel as though any label could very well be interested in completing any major, if the interest is there !! if you have any questions about why i chose the major’s i did for a particular label, feel free to ask !!! i understand that some of the reasoning might not be as easily understood without an explanation !! all of the following majors were found from the following websites:  this, this, this, this. i also found a lot of major’s that i couldn’t fit into each of the labels, so if anyone wants a full masterlist of college major’s, let me know !!

hey everybody!! here’s a rather scatterbrained guide on how to set a roleplay at an arts’ high school without it ending up looking like a crossover between fame and every high school tv show ever made. all of this is based on my experience actually attending an arts’ school!! by examining stereotypes and misconceptions, clarifying uncharted terms and qualities, and shedding light on some unique things that make art schools what they are, i hope that this guide makes it easier and more enjoyable to use them as a setting.

Hi!! I'm about to apply for a Magnet performing and visual arts High School. I'm really excited to apply, but I have to audition first. The visual art audition is a portfolio with "your best pieces of art" focusing on the use of basic art elements. Do you have any tips to making a portfolio?? Its my first time making one. It doesn't have any specifics and the grading rubric is pretty vague. Sorry if I'm bothering you, but I really look up to your art and wanted to get some tips from you!!!

Hello! I have some tips in these previous answers: https://incaseyouart.tumblr.com/tagged/portfolio

Basically, just put in a variety, but make sure it showcases the best of your ability. If you have any gesture or figure drawing, that would be priority. Also show hands and feet, as those are the most difficult to draw, and are therefore often skipped by most artists (beginner or not). Include some landscapes, some characters, some objects… just make sure it’s not ALL ONE theme :) Good luck!

my senior year of high school was so wild; the visual and performing arts kids had to all put on a play and i got to do most of the graphic design and marketing stuff so i had to make all the posters, etc.

i made this background texture entirely out of ewoks

then i used it on posters like this (old work dont judge)

and they got put up all over the school and nobody except the art kids knew that there were 1000000 ewoks providing texture to the background

‘WE NEED AS MANY ARTISTS AS WE NEED DOCTORS’ - SALVIN CHAHAL - SPOKEN WORD ARTIST

Many of you may recognise Salvin from this dope video by MadTatter Films from artist Inkquisitive’s ‘Souled Out’ Tour but apart from spitting with incredible flow over hip-hop beats (“forbidden from reading the scriptures, prisons are feeding the richer…”), Salvin is a powerful spoken word poet with a passion for activism through art.

How and when did you first get into spoken word poetry?

I was always writing since I was a kid, but I didn’t get involved with writing poetry until I was in High School. It wasn’t until I heard Shihan and other artists on Def Poetry Jam that inspired me to pursue spoken word. My senior year in high school was the moment i decided to stick with writing. I’ve been performing, competing, and teaching literacy through poetry ever since.

What is the thought process behind your writing?

I really try to sit down and imagine hearing/visualizing the poem as someone that’s hearing/reading it for the first time. Whatever subject i’m writing about, I try to become that topic, or a specific person in that circumstance. The opportunity to get on the mic and say whatever you want is a blessing. Especially if you can make someone think or feel differently within a few minutes.

External image

What subjects do you mainly focus on in your poetry?

As a poet, you would want to create a diverse amount of material. Each piece is different, but many of my pieces are politically charged. I want people to learn something from my words, because sharing knowledge is essential. Many of my other pieces are stories that i’ve created from my own experiences or those that i’ve witnessed throughout my life which range from relationships to the rising rate of suicide in high school.

What are your dreams/ambitions for the future?

I hope to open or work with a community center such as Sol Collective, that emphasizes on art culture and activism in hopes to bring back art and music into the educational system. Every opportunity I get to spit or release more work I just want to be an example of expression. I believe expression is essential for human beings, even if it’s writing what’s on your mind or drawing something on a piece of paper. We need as many artists as we need doctors, and I just want to spark the creativity of those around me.

External image

What influence or input does your South Asian background have in your work and how is your culture important to you?

I love my South Asian background and I feel it’s necessary to somehow incorporate my culture with the work that I do. For example, Wisechild who is a producer, (We go by Native Children) plays the tabla while I spit my poems, which is creative and a great way to expose people to a small aspect of my culture. I am just a messenger, telling the stories of my environment, the omnipresent struggle and my culture. Culture is slowly diminishing, I just want to represent it through the art of poetry and music.

Be sure to follow Salvin on Twitter and check out his Youtube channel where he’ll be posting great new videos of his live poetry very soon!

Ryukishi07's Iwaihime PC Horror Game Gets Manga Adaptation

The September issue of Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine revealed on August 25 that Ryukishi07’s (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) Iwaihime PC horror game is getting a manga adaptation. The manga will start in the October issue of the magazine on September 25. Tomo Tanaka is drawing the manga, and Ryukishi07 himself is writing the manga’s scripts. Kina Kazuhara is credited with the original character designs, and DMM.com is handling the editorial supervision.

In the story, for generations the men of the Susuhara family have, upon reaching a certain age, left home and gone their own way, living alone with no one to depend on until they are acknowledged. The protagonist is a high school student who has left home and is comfortable at his new school. But there’s a strange girl named Toe Kurokami. She carries what appears to be Japanese doll, and he’s sure its hair grows and it whispers things. Meeting her might be his destiny.

Freelance illustrator Kina Kazuharu provides the character art for the “Japanese style romance novel game,” and mocha provides the background art. Rinne Yoshida performs the game’s theme song “Chitose Tsuzuri.”

DMM Games will release the game digitally on November 27 in Japan. A physical version will be available at Toranoana stores and by mail order.

This summer there’s been an intense debate surrounding the Confederate flag and the legacy of slavery in this country.

In Texas that debate revolves around new textbooks that 5 million students will use when the school year begins next month.

The question is, are students getting a full and accurate picture of the past?

Eleventh-grade U.S. history teacher Samantha Manchac is concerned about the new materials and is already drawing up her lesson plans for the coming year. She teaches at The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a public school in Houston.

The first lesson she says she’ll give her kids is how textbooks can tell different versions of history. “We are going to utilize these textbooks to some extent, but I also want you to be critical of the textbooks and not take this as the be-all and end-all of American history,” she imagines telling her new students.
