Blunt, decisive comments that you either think are hysterical or extremely insulting. Gets loud when telling a joke, laughs super heartily, turns red in the face, etc.
Is so into the tag yourself meme and internet jokes in general. Loves to repeat jokes they've read online or in a magazine (or heard in general), none that are particularly aggressive or forthcoming on any particular stances. Loves when everyone is laughing together, hides face when laughing, laughs until crying.
Brutal one liners and sarcastic comments, cutting remarks that are so funny that you can't help but laugh, mocks own pretentiousness, makes the worst faces, is actually an idiot. Laughs in this weird-ass way so that no sound comes out and they just never break eye contact
Either tells a terrible pun, a joke about academia, or a dirty joke, there is no in-between. Likes to see the extreme reactions from friends, instead of laughing, they just have a giant, doofy grin.
“Find someone who chooses you no matter what. Who doesn’t mind giving up a night out to look into your eyes and hold your hands until your breathing slows down. Or wants to go grocery shopping with you as much as they want to hide beneath your sheets together all weekend. Or sometimes puts your needs before their own, because you’re feeling a little stressed and they know you deserve the help just that tiny bit more. Find someone who understands every facet of your personality, and loves each one equally, because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that someone who won’t even consider giving up their time for you isn’t worth your time at all.”
You heard your colleague’s voice in the background. But you didn’t react to it. You were focused on something else. Rather someone else. Your boss, that was sitting on the other end of the table, twisting and twirling a pen between his long, slender fingers. He was completely staring at you, head cocked to one side in a rather smug attitude. He was young, not much older than you. Only by a year or two. It always amazed you how successful he was for his age, but with that charm - although he most of the time radiated arrogance… and that smile, his success did not surprise you.
You’d lie if you said you weren’t attracted to him. Hell, that man could have his way with you without you even questioning it, you wouldn’t mind at all. In fact, you wanted it. You wanted him to fuck you, and by judging the look he was giving you, you understood he knew that, too. What made your chest rise and your heartbeat increase, was the fact that he tugged on the collar of his shirt. Then, he gazed up at you again, and the look he was shooting you this time made you weak. He wanted it, too.
Stiles quits the FBI program upon seeing Derek in the FBI watchlist files and decides to find him and help him hide. It takes a couple months, but when Stiles finally sees Derek boarding a bus, he feels a sort of peace fall on him and he realizes that what he did was the best decision. This is where he should be, this is his calling. To be with Derek and to live in the supernatural world.
He and Derek spend a long night talking and arguing in a hotel room and in the early hours of the morning, they finally settle on hiding from the cops together. Stiles wouldn’t have had it any other way, he had to fight long and hard on his way to Derek and he wasn’t going to back down easily. Derek knows Stiles had realized his feelings and he knows that Stiles will never leave or let Derek leave; not when Stiles proved that he can fight for himself and fight for Derek if need be.
I can’t think of any greater happiness than to be with you all the time, without interruption, endlessly, even though I feel that here in this world there’s no undisturbed place for our love, neither in the village nor anywhere else; and I dream of a grave, deep and narrow, where we could clasp each other in our arms as with clamps, and I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us any more.
No matter how many times they’re done, there are a few tropes I’ll read 100 times with the same ship, by 100 different authors.
Here are just a few of those tropes:
1. Fake Dating AU.
Whether it’s a short exchange with a stranger because there’s a creep who won’t stop hitting on them, or a fully planned out, year-long con to fool their family, I can never get enough of these.
2. Trapped in A Small Space Together
Freezing to death in an engine room. Hiding together in a closet to avoid being killed. Locked in a room, running out of air.
No matter the context, this one always makes my day, especially if one of the people trapped isn’t usually big on physical contact.
3. Taking Care of Children Together
Innocent little kids have a way of bringing out the soft side of even the fiercest characters.
4. Unnaturally Truthful
Truth serums, an excess of pain meds, and outside threats are just a few of the ways my beloved ships can be forced to admit things they never would under normal circumstances.
5. Amnesia/Forgetting The Other
Sometimes they hit their head. Sometimes they were brainwashed. Sometimes they died and came back to life.
Whatever the reason, one doesn’t know the other, and the other has to faithfully stick by them, and try to help them remember. (Or start from scratch, befriending them and falling in love all over again.)
6. Grumpy, Distant Characters Turning Into Human Puppies Around That Special Someone
This requires no explanation, I believe.
7. Everyone Knows One Loves The Other
Except, of course, the other.
8. First Kiss Forgotten
Maybe someone was under mind control when it happened, or maybe they just had a bit too much to drink, but Person A remembers Person B kissing them, and Person B has no idea it happened. (Or DO THEY?)
let’s do a ficlet or two about Hanzo being absolutely touch-starved because I relate to that too much because I need more of this
Hanzo has never been the kind of person to seek out, or even particularly enjoy, touching or being touched. Even when he was young, though he was conditioned into seeking the approval of his family elders at all times, he had never particularly craved their physical affection. He roughhoused with Genji in the way siblings did, and occasionally received a pat on the head from his father when he was small enough for it, and that was, for the most part, satisfactory. His family approved of him being distant and untouchable.
That mild aversion to touch followed him into adulthood. Other than the same romantic and sexual experimentations that nearly all teenagers gothrough, he has consistently been unbothered. (It doesn’t help that, nowadays, most of the people to get within touching distance are trying to murder him.)
He doesn’t think of himself as touch-starved in any manner–until he meets Jesse McCree.
