‘Sarah Mclachlan would be proud,’ you thought to yourself as you sang the last notes of the song softly.
Prying your swollen eyes open, you looked up at the ceiling of your tiny cell. You could barely make out the intricate etchings of the ancient binding spell.
You huffed a sarcastic laugh out of your dry, chapped lips.
Shifting your body slowly, you groaned when the cuff around your ankle chafed your raw skin. The heavy metal chain dragged the floor with your movements. You leaned over the side of mattress and grabbed the metal tray your lunch had been on. Lifting it in front of your face, you grimaced when you saw that your bruises had turned to that nasty yellow color.
Sitting the tray down, you rolled over onto your back again. Your body was mostly healed but still sore.
You heaved a heavy sigh. It could have been worse. This was a just a warning. Fury normally didn’t even give warnings, so you considered yourself lucky.

The light filtering in through the cracks in the curtains is peach-pink and
sunflower-yellow, painting the bedroom
with a careful artist’s brush, everything as still as the morning
itself. There is a bow resting against a red armchair, there are necklaces
gathered in a bowl sparkling and glittering in the shy rays of the new day, there
are silk sheets slipping off the bed on one end, like water captured in motion.
It’s quiet, the gentle hum of the city outside a comforting kind of
white noise when Magnus wakes. It’s a slow thing, uninterrupted, a muse posing
for a portrait that will hang adored in museums, all shadows in the lines of
muscle and bone, all light against skin and veins. He sits up, letting the soft
fabric slip down his naked chest, skin warm against the crisp air around him.
Next comes a yawn, wide-mouthed and unashamedly human while he rubs the
leftover dreams from his eyelashes.
You turned and saw Castiel standing in your doorway. It had taken you a few months to get used to the angel popping in unexpectedly. But you now knew that Cas was always watching over you, his presence was always around.
“I’m fine, Cas.”
“No, you’re not.”
You sighed. It was very hard to hide anything from an angel. “Cas, it’s nothing. Please.”
Cas stepped forward, studying you. He gently laid a hand on your forehead. “Are you ill?”
The angel continued to stare at you. “Would you tell me what’s wrong?”
You pulled your knees up to your chest. “I just… I’m feeling very small. Insignificant.”
Cas’ brow creased. “Y/N, you are small. All humans are. But you are not insignificant.” Cas sat next to you. “Humans… are very strong. You face so much pain and suffering but you continue to thrive.” Cas paused for a moment. “You have no idea how much the world has changed over the years. It has changed because of humans. You cannot see the change you are inflicting because it cannot be seen yet. But I promise you, you are important. And…”
You turned to Cas, wondering where he was going with this.
Cas sighed. “You are important, Y/N. You are important to the world and… to me.”
“Hey, sweet stuff!” Gabriel said, popping into your room.
You wrapped your blanket tighter around you, watching him. “What are you doing, Gabriel?”
“I was in the neighborhood and I decided to stop by that delicious donut shop. And I thought to myself ‘you know who loves donuts almost as much as me? Y/N!’. So I bought a baker’s dozen and popped on over to share this delicious snack with you.”
You stared at the large pink box in Gabriel’s hand. You could smell the sugary sweetness of the donuts and hated your stomach for growling. “No, thanks.”
Gabriel cocked his head to the side. “Why not? You’re always down for snack time with me.”
“That’s the problem,” you mumbled.
Gabriel came over and sat down on the bed next to you. “What’s wrong, sugar pie?”
You shook your head.
“Come on, sweetheart. Tell Gabe what’s wrong.”
“I’m… I’ve put on a lot of weight recently and I just… I’m not….”
Gabriel said nothing, simply stared at you. “Y/N, do you find yourself unattractive?”
You nodded. How could you be attractive with the muffin top you’d recently gained?
“Hey.” Gabriel popped himself under the covers, snuggling next to you. “You are beautiful, okay? Always. And a pretty girl like you deserves a donut.”
You watched as Gabriel opened the box. All the donuts inside looked delicious.
Gabriel reached inside and picked up a donut covered with sprinkles, your favorite. He held it in front of your face. “Here comes the choo-choo.”
“Gabriel, I’m not a little kid.”
“Would you rather have an airplane?”
You glared at the angel.
“Come on, Y/N. Please? One bite? For me?”
How could you deny those golden eyes? Slowly, you opened your mouth and took a nibble from the pastry. It practically melted on your tongue.
“There she is,” Gabriel said with a smile. “It’s good, isn’t it?”
Balthazar watched as you slammed the door behind you, stomping your way into the kitchen. He silently followed after you and watched as you slammed the cabinets, searching for any and all snack foods.
“Rough day, sweetheart?”
“I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” you said, ripping open a package of cookies. “I work for a bunch of assholes and when I try to point out their mistakes, to you know, save us some time and make sure things get done correctly, I’m the asshole. And then when things do go wrong, I get blamed.”
“I’ve told you numerous times you should quit, darling. You’re unhappy there.”
“I know, but I can’t just quit. Then what would I do?”
“You could let me take care of you.” Balthazar took a step over to you. “You know I can do it.”
“I know. I just… don’t want to take advantage of you.”
“You’re not, darling. This is what I want.”
You nodded. “I know. I know. You keep telling me.”
“I’ll think about it.”
Balthazar smiled at you, stepping forward. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into his chest. “That’s all I ask.”
You’d been spending a lot of time in bed recently. You just… couldn’t find it in you to give any effort to anything.
Lucifer noticed. He tried his best to get you up and out. You would go with him but the spark was out of your eyes, the light was out of your smile.
And so Lucifer decided to switch tactics. He curled up around you, his figure wrapped around you.
“Lucifer, what are you doing?”
You rolled over, your eyes meeting Lucifer’s. “No, really, what are you doing?”
“Look, Y/N. I don’t know what’s going on with you and… I’m not sure you do, either. But that’s okay. I’m here for you and I will be here for as long as you need. We’ll get through this together, okay?”
You didn’t know what to do. You were so thankful for Lucifer. You snuggled closer to him, your head resting on his chest. Lucifer wrapped his arms tighter around you and pressed a kiss to your head.
Prompt: YOU HAVE A PRETTY VOICE SING LOUDER DURING YOUR PARTS
The whole Chorus room was excited. Apparently, there was going to be a new student in the class. Now, this may seem like a normal thing, but for Chorus, it was always a big thing. Chorus was always a small class, so it was great whenever they got a new student, which wasn’t very often.
Summary: Established CastielXReader. Powered up with the souls of
purgatory, Castiel forsakes his friends, exacts punishment upon his foes in
Heaven, and begins to do God’s work on Earth. Feared by everyone he encounters, he seeks out the only person who ever seemed to truly
understand his motives
as hitchhiker leviathans progressively overpower his will and corrupt his

Scanning the pallid faces of the Winchesters and Bobby
Singer, Castiel perceived only fear. These humans he once called friends did
not love him, did not respect him.
“Stop, what’s the
point if you don’t mean it. You fear me, not love, not respect, just fear.”
Castiel won – victor in the battle for Heaven and Earth against
Raphael. In affront to the misgivings of his so-called friends, he also managed
to out-maneuver the King of Hell at his own manipulative game. Castiel deserved
this power – this glory, and they had the audacity to deny it to him. The
betrayal disappointed him, but the frustration of utter terror radiating from
their souls rather than awe of his newfound authority infuriated the seraph
turned God. However, Castiel was a just and merciful God, and although disloyalty
demands justice, these men were one-time allies - flawed men deserving of

“Gabriel? Cas? What the hell is wrong with you two?” Dean
snapped, when he was ignored he gave Sam a curious look. The giant just
shrugged and focused on the frozen Angels staring into the window of a bar.
Castiel stepped forward and placed a strong hand on Gabriel’s shoulder who
gulped and let out a long shaken breath.
“Hello,” Dean called tired of being ignored, “I thought we were here looking
for something to help us stop Lucifer or I am the only one who remembers that the
fucking world is ending?”
Castiel dropped his hand as Gabriel turned to face him, “Not this, Cas.”
Castiel’s brow furrowed but gave a tight nod.
“Want to clue us in?” Sam asked them but like Dean he was
“I never thought that it was true…” Gabriel whispered and Castiel seemed to
agree with the sentiment, “We need to go.”
But when Gabriel went to step away Dean stepped in front of
him only for Gabriel to seize his by the jacket and lift him into the air.
“What the fuck?!” Dean snapped.
Gabriel’s eyes blazed blue and the air left stifling, “You don’t know what’s
going on here, so shut up and let the grownups talk.”
Dean glared at him as Gabriel slowly lowered the Righteous Man back to his feet
and letting his eyes sink back into their normal hue. Sam was beside Dean instantly,
old habits die hard when it came to the Trickster near his brother.
“You’re right, there’s clearly more going on here than we know. Maybe you could
explain it to us?” Sam spoke calmly, one hand was on Dean to stop him swinging
for the Angel and the other was extended out towards Gabriel trying to endear
to him. Gabriel gave a small nod, his hair dropping down over his eyes when he
kept his head down.
“Perhaps we should go somewhere more convenient.” Castiel suggested and with of
Gabriel’s fingers they, and the Impala, were back at the motel.
“Her name was Y/N.” Gabriel started slowly. He was sat on
one of the twin beds, Sam and Dean were sat to the small table each with a beer
in hand and Castiel leant against the wall close to them.
“She was an Angel - an Archangel to be more precise. One of the strongest
warriors I’ve ever met, she ruled courage of heart and bravery in mankind.”
Gabriel explained, she sighed before continuing, “In the early days, when Hell
was new, Y/N was in charge of keeping balance on earth.”
“Mankind was supposed to make its own decisions.” Castiel
“She was good at it as well, much better than she should have been considering…”
He drifted off.
“Considering?” Sam probed.
Gabriel rubbed his face and sighed, “She was in love with
Lucifer and he said that he loved her too. None of us believed that he did, not
really, until she died.” He swallowed, “She was asked by a group of Angels to
accompany them to Earth to meet with some Demons, they wanted her there to keep
the balance. But they were lying and the Angels killed her.”
Dean turned slightly to make sure that Castiel was okay and
Sam asked, “Why would they -?”
“They couldn’t trust her because she
was in love with the Devil.” Gabriel spat, “That’s when we realised that Luci
really loved her, honest to Father loved her.”
“What did he do?” Dean asked.
Gabriel gave a smirk, “You’d call it the Dark Ages. You know pestilence, famine,
war, and death running around free. The plague and people getting burned for
being witches, there was no one to keep the balance.”
Sam sat forward, “We’re sorry for your loss. Gabe, Cas, we
really are but what does this have to do with the weapon that we’re looking for
to stop Lucifer?”
This time Castiel spoke, “There was a rumour that Lucifer had discovered the
Angels plan and sent Demons to bring Y/N down to hell and that she didn’t really die that day but instead
Lucifer found a way to lock away all of herself within her mind and sent her
away to live on Earth as a human.”
“She’s in that bar.” Gabriel concluded, “And since Lucifer
is out the cage but he’s left her alone, I think that her mind can’t handle
being near another Angel. It could tear her mind apart. We wouldn’t know if she
could survive it until it happens.”
“She’s the weapon?” Sam concluded, “We could use the threat
of hurting her to stop Lucifer in his tracks.”
“You said you got this intelligence from an Angel?” Gabriel asked and Sam
nodded so he continued, “Lucifer never did manage to kill all the Angels
involved in the attack. There are three left out there hiding, maybe they
needed someone like you guys to help them find where Lucifer hid her.”
The pain flicked across your head again before vanishing and
with a wince you pinched above your nose hoping that it wouldn’t come back.
“Your head hurting again?” Harry, your boss, asked from the other side of the
bar. You nodded and continued to fill your tray with empty glasses from the
bar. Harry reached over and took the tray from your hands, “Go and have a sit
down in my office Darlin’.”
You gave him a small smile in thanks and walked through the back of the bar,
got yourself a bottle of water from the small fridge in Harry’s office and
dropped yourself down into his plush chair and took small sips of your water.
Every word you’re
saying is a lie
Run away my dear
But every sign will say your heart is dead
Your head throbbed again and you put the bottle down on the
desk so that you could hold your head in your hands. The door opening caught
your attention but you didn’t look up until an unfamiliar voice spoke, “Y/N?”
It was a struggle to take your head out of your hands, your vision swam and you
could barely open your eyes but you could just about make out a short, dark
skinned man in a suit.
“Sorry customers aren’t allowed back here.” You struggled to spit the utterance
out but you managed it – just.
“Come on, I know it’s been a while but don’t you recognise
me?” His voice was smug and self-satisfied but in truth you could barely see him, your eyes felt like they
were burning and something inside your head felt like it was being ripped apart
but still, on some instinctual level, you knew you were in danger and forced
your eyes open.
You didn’t mean to scream but the pain in your eyes and head
along with the visions that flickered behind the man forced the sound out of
you. It looked like wings.
You had to get away. Something in your head was screaming
that this man with his flickering shadowing wings would be the death of you and
that the longer you stayed and the clearer the wings became would mean a more
Thinking on your feet, you threw the water bottle from the
desk at him, he caught it effortlessly but was too busy looking smug to be able
to catch the chair that you kicked at him. It gave you enough time to dive out
of the emergency exit at the back of the office. You got as far as the end of
the carpark before you were knocked off of your feet and crashed to the ground
on your back with the weight of the man atop you.
His hand clenched around your neck and you hissed in pain. He leaned down to
your face, “The great balancer reduced to a human form – disgusting. If you had
picked your alliances better then you wouldn’t have to die as a mortal.”
“H- Plea..se” You coughed out but it did nothing to deter
him. He smiled sickly and reached behind him, there was a flash of a blade
before he wall pulled off of you and held above you by the neck. Your head was practically
wailing now, the man’s wings were clear now and fluttering in panic at being
He was being held by a blonde man and even lay down you could that his height
would overshadow you, he had dirty blonde hair and he was livid.
Bury all the memories
Cover them with dirt
Where’s the love we once had
Our destiny’s unsure
Why can’t you see what we had
Let the fire burn the ice
Where’s the love we once had
Is it all a lie?
“Come out of hiding have you?” He shook the man
effortlessly, “You little maggot. I’m going to make you burn.”
With each word the air grew colder and you forced your eyes open to watch the
frost splay across his skin. But you didn’t stay, the little voice in your head
caught your attention through the agony and made you roll onto your front, push
yourself up and took off sprinting again.
It was a small town and not overly far behind the bar, however
misguided the placement, was a small lake. The pain in your head overwhelming,
you dropped to your knees in the mud of the bank. Bringing your hands up to
wrap around yourself you fell forwards and screamed.
And I still wonder
Why heaven has died
The skies are all falling
I’m breathing but why?
In silence I hold on
To you and I
The fire in you back, it was wings you could hear them. Your
wings. They’d been there the whole time hidden from even you. You screamed
again as your consciousness tore itself asunder and pulled itself back
together. Flashes of everything fell back into place and you sobbed.
Your lover falling from heaven.
A missing father.
A cage and hellfire.
An apology and then nothing.
Scores of memories from all your human lives poured back
into your mind and overwhelmed you. Just when you were sure that it was too
much two large calloused hands found your cheeks and pulled your face up.
Closer to insanity
Buries me alive
Where’s the life we once had
It cannot be denied
Why can’t you see what we had?
Let the fire burn the ice
Where’s the love we once had
Is it all a lie?
“Lucifer.” You whimpered and finally, opened your eyes, he
was knelt before you in the mud, his thumbs wiping away the tears and the mud
and you saw him.
Your Lucifer who had rebuilt your mind time and time again
to hide you away from the Angels who wished to destroy you so that you wouldn’t
fall like him and have to kill your family. His hands were cold but they warmed
on your cheeks, you’d always been counterparts that way.
Fire and ice.
And I still wonder
Why heaven has died
The skies are all falling
I’m breathing but why?
In silence I hold on
To you and I
He sat back into the mud and pulled your body to his chest,
his arms holding you to him and tangling his hand in your hair.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered and could feel his deep chuckle
against your body.
“Don’t be, it’s those stupid Winchesters leading them
straight to you.” Lucifer explained and kissed the top of your head and rocked
your body slightly with him, he was trying to calm you because you both knew
that you weren’t out of danger yet.
“Winchesters, you mean?” You whispered as logic fought your new memories for presence.
Your head swam with so much new knowledge that you were surprised that you
could speak; you should have guessed the time that you’d been brought back in
just because Lucifer was out of the cage.
He just nodded
You run away
You hide away
To the other side of the universe
A tickling sensation made you snuggle into Lucifer closer
and he let out a deep chuckle at your reaction to his wings coming around to encompass
you both. He absentmindedly ran his hands through your feathers and you relaxed
into his touch. Now you realised the aching in your human lives over the
centuries had been a longing for your wings.
Now that it was all filtering back for you it was easy to
see that Lucifer had people keeping an eye out for you for all these years,
Crowley had found you at least one point throughout all your lives and twice of
those occasions had been you, in different lives, attempting to sell your soul
for the ability to bear children.
You’d been denied both times.
Now it fell into place, Lucifer had taken that away from you when he’d taken
your wings, not through spite but because he knew that if you ever got to find
out who you were then you’d never forgive him for letting you have children who
wouldn’t know the real you. That and any child you produced with a human
husband would still have been a Nephilim – he could only hide your angelic
nature not destroy it.
Where you’re safe
from all that hunts you down
But the world has gone
Where you belong
And it feels too late so you’re moving on
Can you find your way back home?
Threading your fingers through his you titled your head up
so that he could reach down to kiss you. His lips pushed against yours and
stars burst from it. His fingertips danced along your collar bone, up your
neck, along your jaw and into your hair and used it to pull you closer.
Slowly you pulled away, your voice whimpered, “Lucifer I
love you, please don’t send me away again.”
“I’m never going to let them touch you again.” He promised
and ice breathed over your lips at your closeness.
It happened fast then.
Lucifer’s wings swished open and he was pushed you to the floor and caught the
attacking Angel by the elbow, the Angel blade in his hand barely missing the
tip of your nose.
“Y/N run!” Lucifer commanded as he threw one of the
attackers into the other, “Gabriel’s in town, find him. I won’t let them hurt
And I still wonder
Why heaven has died
The skies are all falling
I’m breathing but why?
In silence I hold on
To you and I
And so you ran. Down the muddy lake bank, your legs still
burning and chest still heaving as they struggled to make the transition from
humanity. There was no way you could fight off an Angel right now, you needed
to get away.
You swung your fist at the rustle of feathers to your side but your attacker
caught your wrist and threw it down and you followed it crashing to the floor.
“Lucifer!” you screamed but he didn’t appear as the Angel kicked you in the
ribs sending you flying into the tree.
I’m never going to let them touch you again. That’s what he’d
promised, where was he?!
“Lucifer!” You screamed again until it hurt, the Angel
pulled you up by your hair. Lucifer appeared in front of you, his face and hair
splattered with blood and his hand dripping crimson. He was snarled and the
Angel hotel yanked your hair until you were stood, locked his arm around your
chest and with a flutter of his wings you were both gone.
Lucifer screamed and the earth cracked beneath him.
Gone. You were gone again and his own promise taunted him. I
won’t let them hurt you.
A/N: I know these first few chapters are slightly boring. But it’s going to pick up soon I promise. Just gather all of the information you can haha. I have a very detailed outline for this story and it’s damn near a Supernatural episode. So bear with me!!!
Here’s just a helpful hint though, in case any of you get confused. The reader is 28, born in 1990. This story is set in 2018.
“Well, thank you…for painting them on the walls-” you stood up- “I’m gonna try and get some sleep.”
You started to walk away towards the couch when Dean grabbed your wrist.
“Stay.” he said. You made eye contact and smiled before you climbed up onto the bed. You laid down while Dean shut the lamp off. Moments later you felt his arm wrap around your waist and pull you in close. Your back to his chest.
“I hope this is okay?” he asked you.
You snuggled into him even more, hummed a mhmm, and fell asleep.
When you woke up the next morning, it took you a minute to figure out where you were. You squinted as the sun hit your face. You rolled over to see Dean, snoring away, cuddling a pillow. You sat up, looking to the other bed and finding it empty.
Just as you stood up, the door opened, and in walked Sam, coffee and breakfast in tow.

at the foot of this mountain, i only see clouds
“You changed. When you bargained with me just now, you could have asked to go back, to live.”
“Well I figure with you in charge, there’s no gettin’ back for me.”
“That doesn’t sound like the Dean Winchester I know and love. The man who has been dead so many times, but it never seemed to stick. Maybe you’re not that guy anymore. The guy who saves the world. The guy who always thinks he’ll win, no matter what.
“You have changed. And you tell people it’s not a big deal. You tell people you’ll work through it. But you know you won’t…you can’t. And that scares the hell out of you.
“Or…am I wrong?”
“What do you want me to say? Doesn’t matter…. I don’t matter.”
“I couldn’t save Mom. I couldn’t save Cas. I can’t even save a scared little kid. Sam keeps tryin’ to fix it, but I keep draggin’ him down. So I’m not gonna beg. Okay, if it’s my time, it’s my time.”
“You really believe that. You wanna die.”
“You’ve got nothing outside Sam. You are nothing. What are the things that you want? What are the things that you dream? I know how dead you are inside, how worthless you feel. I know how you look into a mirror, and hate what you see.”
“I can see inside you, Dean. Inside, you’re already dead.”
stories i wish you would write - sam has died and is in heaven, gabe isn't there because the dufus thinks sam would be with jess, cue someone (Cas?) finding gabe and telling him what's what, leading to gabe in sam's heaven. `where ever jess's heaven is i'm sure she's happy with the me i was then but i'm different now and i want you gabe`.
I somehow kept missing this in my inbox and I am so sorry but can I just say that WOOOOOW YOU ARE KILLING ME THIS IS EQUAL PARTS BEAUTIFUL AND HEARTWRENCHING DEAR GOD H E L P.
Can you imagine the sorrow that overwhelms Gabriel once Sam takes his final breath, watching helplessly as his soul lifts from his body and rises to Heaven, all while knowing he can do nothing but just let it happen?
Gabriel’s Grace feels physically flayed and in shreds the moment he realizes that he can never be in Sam’s Heaven because Sam loved - loves - Jessica Moore, and Jesus of course Sam would want to be with her in his Heaven. What place did Gabriel have, what right did he possess, to intrude on Sam’s happiness? Even if it didn’t include him?
Gabriel slowly fades away, broken, eyes blood-shot and wet, before Sam could fully settle into his Heaven. He doesn’t want to watch that. Sam was in Heaven. Sam was home, and he was going to be with Jessica soon. He loves Sam, but he has no desire to see Sam love someone else.
Sam and Dean share a Heaven, but maintain their own slice within. Kind of like roommates sharing a humongous house. Dean’s Heaven had Castiel, the seraph refusing to leave Dean even in death.
Sam is happy for them. He is. But even with this, laughing and conversing with Dean and Castiel over a beer, exchanging witty banter with Bobby as the older hunter taught him how to fix up his truck, his parents checking in every so often, throwing a tennis ball in the lake for Bones to chase…
Something is missing. Someone is missing.
Gabriel is missing.
Sam tries not to let it bother him, because Gabriel had made it clear on Earth that returning to Heaven was something the archangel would not do. Sam tries not to hurt over the fact that not even he was enough reason for Gabriel to return, not even to pay Sam a visit. Sam tries not to think that maybe he wasn’t as important to Gabriel as Gabriel was to him, that Gabriel didn’t love him as much…
Hiding your feelings is harder to do in Heaven than it was on Earth; everyone could see your soul, see how it lit up with happiness, see how it darkened with sadness. Hiding your feelings from an angel was impossible. Castiel sees the dark thoughts roaming in Sam’s mind, sees how his Heaven was not complete.
He lets Dean know where he’s doing before he takes off in search of Gabriel. He knows better than to assume that Gabriel would be in Heaven, so he searches the Earth. It takes a surprisingly short time; Castiel finds Gabriel kneeling before Sam’s gravestone, his head bowed and his eyes closed.
It takes a while, but Castiel finally manages to get through to Gabriel. The archangel steels himself and finally, finally flies back into Heaven. He’s greeted with so many voices, so many angels rejoicing and shocked over his presence in Heaven, but the only one that matters is that choked, cracked voice of Sam’s that rushes out in a disbelieving breath before Sam crashed into him, his arms tight and warm around Gabriel.
And all Gabriel can do is hug him back and try to talk through his tears, saying over and over again just how sorry he is, but he couldn’t bear seeing Sam in Heaven with Jessica and fuck he was so selfish and wants Sam all to himself, but Sam deserves to have his Heaven and if Gabriel isn’t a part of that then -
This is when Sam cuts in with a mumbled ‘moron’ against Gabriel’s lips, and he smiles into the gentle kiss he’s giving Gabriel, mouthing the rest of the words that say that wherever Jessica is in Heaven, she is with the Sam from her memories. The Sam Winchester that Jessica remembers isn’t who he is now.
Right now, Sam kisses Gabriel harder, murmuring how he wants and needs and loves Gabriel, and he knows now that he wants Gabriel for the eternity he spends in Heaven.
Gabriel had long since disassociated the terms ‘Heaven’ and ‘home.’ But here, kissing Sam, he’s never felt them more connected.
They’re flirting again, Yurio thought, his usual irritated expression aimed directly at Viktor and Yuuri. They were supposed to be working on their routines and had started out doing just that with Viktor actually coaching in his blunt manner and Yuuri doing to best to comply.
But soon, the two started touching, Viktor nuzzled Yuuri’s neck and the Japanese boy became a light shade of red when Viktor’s hands started to wander. To be a tease, he nipped at the Russian man’s ear and earned himself a huge embrace from Viktor that nearly sent them tumbling to the ice. Yakov also screeched at them to stop fooling around.
“Isn’t it beautiful, Yuri?”
Georgi’s lovestruck voice startled the blonde. “What?”
“Yuuri and Viktor are able to spend so much time together. Ahh, how I dream of the days when my love and I could spend every waking moment with one another.”
Yuri merely rolled his eyes at Georgi’s rantings of love and skated to the edge of the think. He grabbed his phone. There were some notifications from Instagram, most likely from his fans, but nothing else. A sigh left his lips as he toyed with a strand of his blond curls. He wondered what Otabek was doing. Did he miss Yuri? Was he thinking about Yuri? He wouldn’t admit it out loud but Yuri thought a lot about his boyfriend. Good thoughts, of course, and some naughty ones here and there. But there were some not so great thoughts that he couldn’t help but ponder over. They made his stomach hurt. Even sharing a delicious meal of katsudon, borscht and pirozhki with Viktor and Yuuri that evening didn’t push the negative thoughts from his mind. Viktor seemed oblivious to his internal torment but Yuuri was much more observant though kept silent until after dinner. Yuri peeked into the kitchen. Yuuri stood by the sink, putting away dishes and drying his hands off. He noticed Yuri and smiled.
“Is something the matter, Yurio?” he asked kindly.
“I told you not to call me that,” Yuri grumbled then looked away. “You love Viktor, don’t you, katsudon?”
Yuuri looked surprised. “What brought this up?”
“You love him, right? Even though he can act like a child and says stupid things? He has plenty of faults and flaws but that doesn’t matter to you, does it? Because you love him!” Yuri looked at Yuuri, his heart racing. “Right…?”
“Yurio…” Yuuri sighed and walked over to the teen. “Come on. Let’s go for a walk.”
The two left the apartment and walked side by side in silence for a few minutes. Yuuri spoke up first.
“Everything you said, Yurio, is right,” he said. “Even with his faults and flaws, I love Viktor. More than I could ever put into words.”
“And how do you know you’ll always love him?” Yuri asked, his hands stuffed deep into his pockets. “Eventually, you’ll get tired of him or…he’ll get tired of you because you’re…so hard to deal with.”
Yuri stopped and Yuuri did the same. The blonde was silent for a moment, his eyes hidden by his hair and he was grateful. He didn’t want Yuuri to see the tears that had suddenly welled up in his eyes. His greatest fear, the one thing he wished would never happen, was that Otabek would one day leave him.
“I know I’m a handful. Otabek knew it too and we still became friends. But now, we’re dating. What if he starts to get tired of me? Or worse, what if he hates me?” Tears trickled down Yuri’s cheeks and he cursed, angrily brushing them away.
Yuuri knew that words wouldn’t be enough. Instead, he stepped close to the teen, wrapped his arms around him and held him close. Yuri didn’t fight the hug. He was surprised at how warm the Japanese male was. Yuri closed his eyes and mumbled, “Don’t tell Viktor or I’ll kill you.”
A few days later, Otabek flew in for a visit. He picked Yurio up and the pair headed out to do some shopping, catch a movie and hide from Yuri’s angels. They stopped on a quiet street. Yuri let out a loud sigh.
“Crazy bitches…” he said with his usual annoyance. “They should just leave me the fuck alone, dammit. Can’t they see I’m on a date?”
Otabek smiled lightly. “It’s fine now, isn’t it Yura?”
Yuri looked over at Otabek. Their eyes met and Otabek’s cool smile seemed to fill Yuri’s heart. He lowered his gaze and went to hug Otabek from behind. He was getting taller but Yuri didn’t mind if Otabek was shorter than him.
Otabek called his name but Yuri stayed quiet.
“Yura? What’s wrong?”
“I love you, Beka,” Yuri said in a shaky voice. “I love you. Please don’t leave me.”
Otabek laughed and turned around, enveloping his blonde beauty in his arms. He kissed Yuri’s cheek and held him tightly not saying a word. But his response to Yuri’s words had gone through without fail. Otabek loved him for who he was, flaws and all. Nothing would change that.
