Title: 2 assholes play cards against humanity

Genre: Fluff + Crack ➝ YouTuber AU

Pairing: Min Yoongi x Reader.

Plot: 2 assholes play Cards Against Humanity together. One asshole is an excellent kisser and the other is the worst fucking editor in the world.

Or rather: we are both youtubers and you are the worst fucking editor ever, and so you accidentally included a clip from our collab you uploaded where we made out and people don’t know we’re a thing yet, as requested (and thought of!) by me.

Warnings: This is just…unlike my writing style. Wrote this whilst drunk, probably, because I don’t remember writing this, at all.

Notes: Yes, I did go out of my way and spend 1 hour + on making a fake YouTube channel and video for this drabble/fic. Was it worth it? Probably not, but here’s Yoongo’s channel.

2 ASSHOLES PLAY CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY w/ Y/N
UPLOADED BY: yoongi
28TH MARCH, 2017.

despite being a youtuber with over seven million subscribers to make up for it, min yoongi is the absolute worst at his job. you’d think that being paid so much every week and being invited to vip events and having thousands- close to millions- of fans making twitter accounts with your name squished into them, and seeing your face on billboards or whatever, would act as enough motivation for yoongi to put in a tiny bit more effort.

don’t get me wrong– yoongi works hard. he uploads twice a week (thursdays and sundays, for those who wanted to know!), and always puts out fresh and most of the time, original content. a musical prodigy, as some people called him, and others called him unique, entertaining, different, inspiring. some called him mediocre and basic, but against yoongi’s strong fan base, none of that mattered. even without the fanbase, yoongi still didn’t give two damns about what anybody had to say against him. and with the success he has, he doesn’t need to be worried about anything or anybody else just yet.

but, you’d think that because of his success and picture-perfect life captured by an expensive camera and posh lenses (hey, the fact that yoongi is so well liked despite not attempting to even out his flaws with light boxes and filters or makeup products is impressive), he’d try that extra bit harder when it came to creating content he enjoys putting out into the world. especially editing videos- including ones where forgetting to edit out one tiny, tiny clip could result in thirty new scandals and his name being in the media longer than it has to be.

because min yoongi, despite his magical fingers and creative mind when it comes to creating the video itself, is the absolute worst at editing videos. he just can’t be bothered to watch the same clips over and over again. and, even though you may not like it, you’re suffering at the hand of his poor editing skills.

anonymous asked:

hey so like i totally agree that rika is an abusive person but my friend doesn't believe me and ??? can you give examples on why she is because i really dont have the energy to argue with her on it anymore :///

yes i can!! i will happily avenge my boy V by roasting his ex-fiancee. i have plenty of examples, and if someone else has anything more to add, feel free!

i’ll be going off of only Seven’s route (technically Secret01, V’s “after-ending”), since Rika is more involved in it. i’ve played all the other routes, but i figured Seven’s would be the best to do this with. anyway, onward!

WARNING: HUGE SPOILERS (trigger warnings: abuse, manipulation)

i’ll start with this. it’s not anything huge, but believe it or not, this is manipulative behaviour. i recognized it immediately, because i have a friend who acts just like Rika (and they know they’re doing it too). at this point V has made it so clear that he has no intention of leaving or betraying Rika, and yet she still persists and repeats statements like these throughout Secret01 (only they’re each worded differently). of course it’s healthy to talk to your partners about how you’re feeling in your relationship, but… not the way she does it. this is guilt tripping. words like these are meant to make the other person feel, well, guilty. it’s trapping them in the relationship and making them feel like if they leave, they’ll hurt their partner, or their partner will hurt themselves, even if hurting them wasn’t their intention at all (sounds like V, doesn’t it? he wants the best for everyone, and im sure Rika is no exception since they were, y’know, engaged).

oh Rika, Rika, Rika.

“God can’t, but maybe you can.” “I feel like you’re the only person who won’t get hurt by being with me.”

another example! she’s making him feel like he’s the only one who can help her with her problems! again: guilt tripping. saying the god of your religion can’t save you but your fiancee can is, uh… quite a responsibility for V carry, especially when you take in the fact that Rika was stated to be pretty religious before this. this is a personal view, but my Rika-friend does this too; they tell me i’m the only one who’s ever there to help them, i’m the only one who will listen, etc. etc. personally, this is draining for me. being the source of someone’s peace of mind and sanity is… huge. it doesn’t matter how much you love the person, this will take a huge toll on you regardless. you won’t always be there to help the person, and it feels awful to have to tell them that. i don’t doubt that V has to deal with this too! i’m sure, aside from Rika’s dependency on him, he has issues of his own that he has to take care of. people need breaks from helping someone excessively, in order to be able to take care of themselves and keep helping the person at the same time, but… from the way V lost himself later (i’m still not over it), i don’t think he ever got that break.

(EDIT: i found a post on my dash that relates to this so i thought i’d link it as further proof: http://jihyunnn.tumblr.com/post/153749507155/naamahdarling-metalfatigue-alt-and-black ) (i don’t know how to make links yet lmao so this is the best i can do)

skip to the present when they’re at Mint Eye. I think these screenshots say enough for themselves, so I won’t spend as much time on them as the others. what i will say is this: Saeran (or Unknown, for y’all who didn’t know his real name before) exposes Rika’s “true” feelings about V. whether they’re really true or not is up for debate, but insulting your ex-lover (who did absolutely nothing wrong, mind you) and calling them awful names is hard to fake. this is downright hatred.

this is the part where i start crying because V deserved so much better. they say a picture holds a thousand words, and these three certainly do, more than the previous ones.

“Do you even see how much I’ve grown?” “Shouldn’t you be proud of me?” “You never acknowledge me when I do something great.”

warning sirens!! warning sirens!! giant red flag!!!!!! how do people see this as a healthy relationship??

V was the one who got Rika to start going to therapy. He wanted to learn more about her to help her with her mental problems. He wants to help her grow! but she’s doing the opposite! and blaming him after all his efforts!!!

she even compares him to her parents. Rika is adopted, yoosung tells us that at the beginning. on Rika’s wiki it is implied that she and her adoptive mother don’t get along. in the “Trivia” section it says that she (or they, including her father) regrets adopting her. whoa there. Rika just said “you’re just like my parents.” She compared V to her abusive parents. i think that says enough (V my boy i’m so sorry).

so V, in an attempt to save himself and Rika from any further verbal harm, says that he is proud of her, but he sees that there are flaws in her ideas of saving people. he’s calling her out on her plans, because i’m he feels like she can’t see that herself. she immediately jumps to defend herself by, you guessed it, more guilt tripping. She makes him look like the bad guy. “How could you say that?” is meant to make him feel bad! and you can see it on his face that he does indeed feel bad!!

of course i couldn’t forget that last screenshot, the one from the post i made a couple days ago that started this chain. again… if this doesn’t show how awful Rika is, i don’t know what will.

“I think my eyes are at their end. But… I liked it because you’re the one who gave me this pain.” he’s been destroyed and hurt by Rika so many times but he still loves her, and Rika hasn’t apologized for what she’s done. I haven’t read anything from her that has her saying “I’m sorry” in any way and I’ve played every route. Rika hasn’t apologized for anything she’s done. nothing. zip. zero. nada. i don’t want to hear it’s because she’s mentally ill. that’s not an excuse and it never will be. she’s mentally ill, yes? girl me too!! that doesn’t stop me from recognizing my shitty behaviour!! you still have to apologize when you do something abusive! your mental illness is not a free pass to be an asshole! (even if your partner is like V and insists it doesn’t bother them you still have to apologize you wet paper bag)

aside from Rika being unforgivably disrespectful to V, she messed up Saeran bad. we know Rika rescued Seven and Saeran from their abusive mother. yeah, what a hero!! but not for long!!! when Seven left, she took care of Saeran up until her breakup with V. After this, she started brainwashing him to hate Seven and distort his image of him. that’s right! she’s the reason he has so much trouble accepting Seven as his brother again. Saeran said a couple screenshots ago that “he’s the man who lied to me for all these years,” but he didn’t play a role in his brainwashing. that was all Rika. it’s my guess that she brainwashed him to hate him.

V was never the bad guy. same with Saeran. this whole time it’s been Rika. anyone who defends Rika’s sick actions can fight me personally.

in conclusion: she’s awful and does not deserve to be forgiven.

*mic drop*

Uncomfortable

Request: Hey, I love your writing so much 💗 Could you maybe write something about Y/n looking through fan accounts & fan fictions of Shawn & Shawn gets home & gets really uncomfortable 💗 it would mean a lot :))

Your name: submit What is this?

It wasn’t often that you stalked your boyfriend’s tag on tumblr.  It was a quick and easy search: Shawn Mendes.  Thousands upon thousands of search results would come up, and with nothing better to do, you decided to see what his fans were up to.

On your own tumblr, you followed about two or three blogs about Shawn, you know, just to keep up with him when he wasn’t answering his phone.  The ones you followed only posted pictures of him though, nothing else.  So when you came upon a few pieces of writing, you became interested.

Ethan Dolan - So-called feud

MASTERLIST

“Hey guys, so as I promised, I’m here today to answer your questions in an amazing Q&A video, because it’s been a while since I did something like that, so let’s get started!” I smiled into the camera that was recording. I grabbed my phone from the table and opened the questions I chose for the video and started to answer them.

Most of them were in connection with my older videos, about the last VidCon I attended and how it felt meeting some amazing people, and then there were this one:

“How do you feel about Ethan Dolan?” I read the question and then put down my phone to think about my answer. “Well, first of all, I don’t know him, I, like, once saw him at an event from the other side of the room, but never talked to him. Second of all, I have no opinion on him or whatsoever, I don’t really follow what he and his brother do, so I don’t feel anything about him, sorry.”

I thought this was a pretty diplomatic answer, I didn’t know what else should have I said of a guy I knew absolutely nothing about.
I answered some more questions and then turned the camera off. After done editing it I uploaded it and I went to bed. I liked to wait for the reactions and then read them at once, but I wasn’t expecting what really happened. As I woke up and started to read the comments and tweets on my phone my eyes went wide. Ethan Dolan was tagged in almost every each of them saying like “lol Ethan is so sassy, I can’t wait for her reaction” or like “Ethan don’t listen to her, you rule!”. I immediately opened Ethan’s profile and started to look for anything he wrote about me.

@EthanDolan
@Y/T/N So I don’t even exist in your world. Good to know.

“What the fuck?” I hissed looking at the tweet not even understanding why he would write something like this. What I said in the video was nothing near what he tweeted and I didn’t like being in the middle of a drama that was nonsense. So I quickly sent him a DM.

“Hey Ethan, I really don’t understand your latest tweet. I didn’t mean to hurt you with anything I said in my video.”

I nervously kept reading the comments and tweets about our non-existing feud while waiting for him to answer which by the way happened quite quickly.

“Good morning Y/N. I’m willing to talk to you and make a deal, add me on Skype.”

Then he sent me his Skype name and I immediately added him. Five minutes later I was waiting for him to answer the call and when I saw him half naked on my screen I just felt even more nervous. I had never liked drama and never wanted to cause it, so I just wanted to end it right there.

“Hey!” he waved at me with a wide smile.

“Hi. Thanks for answering, I just wanted to make sure that there is no real feud between us, because I don’t want to end up being the drama queen,” I said running my fingers through my hair. He lightly chuckled confusing me even more.

“Okay, I’ll be honest with you,” he said. I heard some muttering from around him, I guess he wasn’t alone, then he even picked up something from besides him and then gave it to someone who was behind the camera and then he turned back to me. “You didn’t say anything provocative, I just wanted to get your attention.”

At first I thought I heard him wrong. Then I furrowed my eyebrows trying to find the right words. Was this a joke? Did he really cause drama just to get my attention? I couldn’t decide if it was the sweetest or stupidest thing I had ever heard.

“Look, I’m really sorry, I admit it wasn’t the best idea, but I have been following you since forever but you seem to ignore my existence and I just wanted to have a chance to talk to you.”

“I’m ignoring you?” I asked in confusion.

“Well, yes. My biggest achievement that you are following me on Twitter, but no matter what I do you never react to anything I do or say, like you just don’t give a shit about me.”

“Maybe because we don’t know each other and I’m not a big fan of faking a friendship just for the entertainment,” I replied raising my eyebrows at the picture of him.

“Who was talking about friendship here?” he asked lightly chuckling and I was a bit taken aback. “I’m trying to get your attention so I can ask you out for a date.”

I heard some quiet whistling from the background, I guess his brother or his friends were amused by the boldness of how he smoothly asked me out.

I let out a bit awkward laugh not really knowing how to deal with the sudden situation. Ethan was a very good-looking guy and I appreciated the efforts he did just to get to me.

“Well, it would be a bit confusing to the people if we suddenly were seen on a date after our so-called feud,” I answered trying to hide my smile.

“I can help with that. Let me take a screenshot quickly.”

I didn’t understand why he needed a screenshot, but I tried to look decent, and then watched as he started to type something. When he was done he told me to check my Twitter. I saw that he just tweeted a photo, the screenshot of us talking on Skype with the following caption:

“Guys, I was just messing with you. I’m having the best conversation on Skype with her right now.”

I laughed seeing how confused the fans were about the sudden change of mind Ethan just showed.

“Nice move,” I said smiling at him at the camera.

“So are you free tonight?” he asked wiggling his eyebrows at me.

“Let me check my schedule,” I sighed pretending to do it, but in the meanwhile I typed in my reply to his tweet.

@Ethan Dolan
I love seeing my awful morning look on the internet. See you later, in person.

I heard his phone vibrate and he immediately checked it and reading my tweet he grinned up at me before speaking up.

“I’ll pick you up at six. Send me your address in DM,” he said and then ended the call.

Mina’s Monday Recs

Wow, what a week! There has been so much loveliness coming out of the fandom creatively in the last seven days. And since I’ve become sick of adulting, I decided to this a bit earlier instead :) (Of course, this rec list is – as it always is – based on my shipping preferences, and lately, as will soon become obvious, I’ve been on a bit of a Nyssa kick. Not to mention I have needed smut like I need air, which is also reflected in my choices for this week.)

Do you Take This Man? (NSFW) by yespleasehawkeye (Olicity) – AHHHH. So much smutty goodness in this fic, seriously. One thing I can never get enough of is the physicality between Oliver and Felicity when they’re established – I just think that their interactions have a different kind of sensuality to them when they’re kind of familiar with each other physically. (Like when Oliver is just casually touching Felicity under the table while they’re eating, lol.) And, of course, the fact that it’s set during Thea and Roy’s wedding (two of my OTPs for the price of one! :D) just makes this even more enjoyable. I love the lazy feel to this fic, and the way they keep going back to the dance floor again and again. Definitely one I will be rereading. :)

Carpe Diem by agentsofmariahill (Nyssara and hints of Black Assassin) – whoa. I will preface this by saying that there really isn’t nearly enough femmeslash fic out there, and there is nowhere near enough Nyssa fic either. So the fact that this is both is a bonus, for me. I love the way the author explored the different facets of Nyssa’s character – the way her father trained her, the way she slowly started questioning her sexuality, her beautiful relationship with Sara and her budding friendship with Laurel. Even if you’ve never read a Nyssa-centric fic before, I urge you to check this one out. It’s amazing.

Tantric (NSFW) by lostolicityscenes (Olicity) – HOT DAMN. I am a sucker for road trip smut, and this was gorgeous. I love the poetic style and the way Oliver and Felicity kind of find each other, physically and mentally. I love that kind of discovery between them and how the physicality between them, while losing its novelty, never loses its thrill. And what gets me is that this fic doesn’t have a word of dialogue in it, but it doesn’t need to. In fact, the silence is kind of what makes this story so sexy. <3

It is not in the Stars (NSFW) by kaleidoscopes-and-carousels (Nyssara) – GIVE ME ALL THE NYSSARA SEXYTIMES PLEASE. Wow. What an amazing homage to one of my OTPs, set during the end of season 2 when Sara returns to Nyssa and asks for the League’s help. I think this fic sums up perfectly, for me, Sara’s mindset when she decided to break things off with Oliver – that this was never about not wanting to be with Nyssa and was far more about unwilling to face the darkness inside herself.

Strange Birds by darhkfelicity (Olicity with Laulicity friendship) – I will never, ever, ever get enough of the Laulicity friendship, and this fic is such a lovely homage to what has become one of my favourite ever girl-power!friendships on Arrow. I love how their early interactions in canon are addressed here, the way Sim dips into both my darlings’ minds and shows how they slowly become friends. And I adore the way this extends beyond the Olicity road trip while also working in details of some of the new spoilers we’ve been getting for season 4.

Sensations of Survival (NSFW) by arrow-through-my-writers-block (Olicity) – ahhh, I am such a sucker for smangst, and this is a wonderful one. Set the night that Oliver defeated Ra’s (I think?), it has some of my favourite things in it, including SHOWER SEX and apologies and pain and did I mention shower sex? :D There is something almost cathartic about reading this that I adore, and there is such a gorgeous introspective and quiet feel to it that is also ridiculously hot and something that I just can’t get enough of. Definitely my favourite by this author.

So, I found this waterfall by thevegantargaryen (Nyssara) – I love Nyssara fics that are set during the flashback years, and this is an excellent one. There is so much emotion and hotness packed into what is actually quite a short piece, but it doesn’t seem to be from how beautifully it is written. Both Nyssa and Sara talk about their dreams, about leaving, exploring the world, and the way that is inexplicably linked with their exploration of each other sinceriously tugs at my heartstrings and makes me ache for these two. <3

Wanderers by susannahmccormick (Olicity) – yayyyy, more road trip fic! :) Sus does such a great job with this series, and I am loving in particular the section about Oliver and Felicity’s mountain hike. AND THE PUPPIES. Oh God. I really like the domesticity about them – not only does it perfectly fit into what Stephen and Emily have been saying lately about how Oliver and Felicity have changed while on their road trip, but there is something so ridiculously endearing about Oliver thinking about holding a barbecue and wanting to do up the house and all sorts.

And then I found this delightful tag fic (picture is NSFW) by effie214 which kind of speculates on what Oliver and Felicity would be like their first night back in Starling. And as always, Effie’s way with words leaves me speechless, because I can totally feel Felicity’s conflicting emotions about being back, and about wanting to hold onto the comfortable oblivion of their road trip. And THE PANCAKES. I love it when Oliver cooks breakfast for Felicity. For obvious reasons. :D

I also came across this gorgeous Olicity graphic by waschal – I LOVE the angel wings on Oliver (I can’t help but interpret that to be a reference to the fact that the Arrow is Starling’s guardian angel <3) and the pretty colouring and the infinity sign around the arrow. I could probably write an essay about how much I love the symbolism of this, but I’ll stop there, lol.

Then there’s this beauty by captainolicitysbedroom, which was made for supersillyanddorky06’s fic, The Firebird (which I’ll admit I haven’t had a chance to read yet, but Matty is an excellent writer and I know, having read several of her other fics, that this one is as good as anything she writes). Plus, I love any art that feature’s Al-Saheem, because of reasons. ;)

I may have shrieked a little when I saw this lovely Laurel Lance graphic by blackprettybird, too. WOW. What a gorgeous homage to my pretty bird. I love the monochrome and the way the city is reflected – I think some people forget that when Oliver was off in Nanda Parbat, Laurel had to look after Starling on her own, with only Nyssa by her side. This is a wonderful reminder of that. <3

And my graphic rec list would be incomplete without this absolutely heartbreaking Nyssara edit by cherrychapssstick, which made me feel SO MANY EMOTIONS. I love the shattered glass effect and how it reflects the fragmented nature of Nyssa and Sara’s relationship. So dark and achingly beautiful. AH.

And then, because I love Black Assassin both platonically and romantically, here are a couple of lovely videos that are dedicated to the wonderful pairing that is Laurel and Nyssa. There’s this one by wondertwinc, which goes ever so slightly AU in that they’re actually together. And wow, do they have great chemistry! I will forever love the milkshake scene, and the scene in 3x16 where Laurel agrees to let Nyssa train her, and the part where Nyssa said the last few weeks with Laurel had brought her happiness. Nothing makes me happier than two badass ladies supporting the hell out of each other, saving each other and having a beautiful friendship (and, in this video, something more). This video is certainly one I will rewatch. Again and again.

The second video is by vigilantelawyers, which I also adore and which made me fall in love with the pairing even more. What an apt song choice, and with a lovely selection of clips from the show, too. I think we see here how Nyssa has mentored Laurel in training her, but also how protective Laurel is of Nyssa – to the point that she says she doesn’t want to lose her after everyone else she’s lost. Also, I don’t know if there’s a technical name for this, but I love how at one point there is two of Nyssa and then later there is two of Laurel. It looks super cool and just makes this video even more gorgeous. :D

That’s it from me! I know this week has been Nyssa-heavy, but hey, she’s a cool character and I love her to pieces. You know the drill – if you liked anything on this list, be sure to let the creators of these wonderful fanworks know. Reblog their work. Give kudos. Leave comments. Leave a lovely message in their askbox telling them how much their fic/edit/video made your day.

In other words, spread positivity so all the hardworking people who give so much to the fandom get something back. Thanks, and see you next week! :)

(And graphic artists, I’ve linked to your works, but if you want me to take down the actual images, I am happy to do so. Just shoot me an ask. :))

My fics

Basic Attraction Part 1

So this title I actually don’t mind lol. TJ Perkins x Reader x THE Brian Kendrick suggested by my equally evil team mate @alexispoo. Once again I must thank @jazzytoosweet for lending her phenomenal editing skills to my many writing projects, including this one! TYSM Boo!

So TJ Perkins and Brian Kendrick fight over reader before their match and they decide to make a bet. Whoever wins, gets her. (Cause that worked so well with Jericho and Christian all those years ago…)

I don’t wanna spoil the plot so let’s go~!

“Hey, TJ.” TJ paused, glancing at the doorway of the locker room and he scowled at who he saw. There stood Brian Kendrick, smug grin in place as he leaned against the door.

“Kendrick…” was TJ’s clipped reply. “Come to ask me to throw our match again?” he frowned. Brian chuckled, pushing off from the door and walking over to the current champion.

destiel love actually au because i can. (based on this scene with a few tweaks to give it a happy ending)

He’s marrying Sam.

Dean buries his face in his hands. Cas is marrying Sam.

Dean is happy for his brother, he really is, but this is Cas. To be fair, Dean had no ownership of Cas; there was no reason Cas should think of Dean at all. Dean had been nothing but rude the entire time they’d known each other. Whenever Cas had tried to strike up conversation, Dean had dismissed him. Every time they had invited him out to dinner, he’d come up with an excuse. And every time Cas had smiled at him, Dean had looked away.

Dean knows he can be a dick sometimes. And he’s been a dick to Cas since day one. But he feels a little justified, in this case. Because really, who could blame him?

Six months and twenty-four days ago, Dean had laid eyes on the most beautiful man he’d ever seen… only to find out, moments later, that his brother was going to marry him.

The engagement party had been two weeks ago.

And Dean had spent most of the time hiding, out of sight, taking pictures of Cas with his camera whenever the light was right… whenever Cas laughed or smiled and lit up the room.

He didn’t think anyone had noticed.

Happy Holidays from Fearless Records!

One-shot based off the almost-kiss from the Happy Holidays video on Fearless Records’ YouTube channel. Kind short, but still good. Hope you appreciate it! Happy Holidays!

-Jaime’s POV-

“Dad! Dad, Dad, Daddy!” I hear my sixteen-year-old daughter Cara call me from her spot on the couch. “Come look what I found!”

I walk out to her from my place in the kitchen, and see her looking at and old photo album which was titled “Vic and Jaime: 2013-2014."

"Where in the world did you find that?” I laugh gently, shocked that she was going through mine and Vic’s stuff.

Her face immediately drops to a frown. “Well, I was laying on the ground texting my friend, and when I looked over, this book was underneath the coffee table. I’m sorry if I wasn’t supposed to see it.” Cara stares at her hands, which are still holding the book in her lap.

I walk over to her and wrap her in my arms to comfort her. “Oh honey, it’s okay! I just didn’t know where you got it from. I wasn’t sure if you were going through mine and Papa’s stuff or not. It’s okay that you looked at it, I promise.” I smile at her and she looks up at me.

“Okay. I just wanted to show you a picture of you and Papa I found. It looks like it was from Christmas.” She pulls the picture out of it’s spot and studies it. It’s a photo of Vic and I from when we first came out to everyone. That was perhaps the happiest day of my life.

Cara turns the photo around and begins to read the back of it. Words are written in blue ink. "It says, ‘Jaime and Vic- Christmas 2013: The day we got together.’“ She stutters out, (Bad handwriting on my part!) then looks up from the photo.

"Dad, will you tell me about the day you and Papa got together?” Her face beams with a smile.

I laugh quietly at her eagerness and respond. “Of course mija. Get comfortable, because it’s kind of a long story. And don’t tell Papa I’m telling you this. We promised each other we wouldn’t ever tell you this story. At least until you have a husband too.”

“Promise Daddy!” She giggles and lays down on her back, legs hanging of the arm rest and head in her hands.

“Okay,” I sigh, “I guess I should start from the day we filmed the 'Happy Holidays’ video for the record label.”

—-Flashback Time!—-

“Hey Hime!” I hear Vic yell to me from downstairs.

“Hey Vic!” I yell back.

He walks into the game room upstairs with a gaudy Christmas sweater and scarf on and burgundy beanie on his head. God he looks so adorable. “Fearless wants us to do a 'happy holidays’ message from the label. And ad-lib some other stuff about the band’s news for 2014. Wanna join me?” He holds up a sleeveless, equally-as-gaudy Christmas vest and Santa hat to me and smiles cheekily.

I laugh loudly at the sight of the vest, and say “Of course! Who doesn’t love a crappy Christmas video every once in awhile?” I throw the ugly sweater over my grey tank top and put the Santa hat strategically on my head, as not to mess up my hair. I then follow Vic downstairs to the living room where the Christmas tree is lit up, six stockings were hung by the chimney with care (See what I did there?), and two glasses of white wine are on the coffee table.

“So who’s gonna film this?” I ask Vic. Just then, Mike comes walking into the living room from the bathroom and Vic points at him. “Okay, well, what exactly are we gonna say?” I question.

Vic shrugs. “I don’t know. Just say something along the lines of 'Happy holidays from Fearless Records,’ then something about the band coming out with a new album next year, and then it’s done. The exec didn’t really say anything specific. We can screw around if we want. That’s why I’m going all out with holiday festivities.” He points to the Christmas scene in front of us and our shirts.

I smile devilishly. “Well if we can screw around, why not fuck with the Fuenciado shippers? I mean, it’s a great holiday gift! At the end of the video, we’ll just come in really close and look like we’re going to kiss, but then end the video before they see us actually kiss.”

“That would be great!” He laughs. Little did he know that I really did want to kiss him. I mean, my feelings about him were getting stronger every day. It’s sad he hasn’t noticed the way I’ve been acting towards him lately. Almost like he’s ignoring them. Anyways, back to the matter at hand.

“Well, why don’t we get this shit started then! I wanna get back to doing absolutely nothing.” Mike says to break the silence. Vic and I grab our glasses and Vic picks up his dog and we stand in front of the Christmas tree.

“Ready?” Mike asks while turning the camera on.

“Ready whenever you are.” I sigh out. I’m just ready to get this done. Every bad thing possible is running through my mind at this moment. I’m probably gonna blush when we fake-kiss, and Vic’s gonna notice and everything will just fuck up.

“Okay,” Mike starts, “Lights, camera, action!” He presses the “Record” button on the camera, and a little red light turns on.

Vic starts fake laughing, so I join in, as if we just heard a hilarious joke. I start with the talking, “Oh, hey! Didn’t see you there! I’m Jaime.”

“And I’m Vic, from Pierce The Veil.”

“Just wanting to say 'Happy Holidays!’”

Vic raises his glass in the air. "Thanks to a lot of fans for a great year. In 2014 we have a brand new album coming out; Cheers to that Jaime.“ We clink glasses and I laugh again. "Merry Christmas.” Vic says with an adorable smile.

“And a happy new year.” I laugh. We look at each other and I feel time stop.

This is it. Vic’s finally gonna understand how I feel toward him. Holy fuck, we’re gonna kiss. Oh my god, we’re not actually gonna kiss, but it’ll be real enough for me. God, I sound like one of our fangirls. AAAH, he’s leaning in. Here goes nothing.

I go to wrap my arm around his neck, and lean in towards him. Our faces are mere centimeters away, and Mike says “Cut! Print!"

Vic pulls away, and I feel my entire being drop. So fucking close to kissing him, and Mike has to ruin it.

Mike pulls the camera off the tripod and takes it into the kitchen to put the video on his laptop and edit it and send it to the label. Here’s my chance to talk to Vic.

I follow him to his bedroom and close the door. He looks at me with a confused face, and I point at the bed as if to tell him to sit down. He does so, and I start pacing the floor in front of him.

"Vic,” I start, “I-I really don’t know h-h-how to say this without s-sounding weird, but I sort, kind of have feelings toward you?” It comes out sounding more like a question than a statement.

Vic scoffs and I stare at him. Is he seriously making fun of me for liking him? That bastard!

“No, I’m not making fun of you for liking me, Hime.” Oops. Must have said my thoughts out loud. “I’m just saying, it’s kind of obvious you do.” He smiles at me. “And it’s okay, because I like you too. And I seriously wish that Mike wasn’t present for the filming of that video, because otherwise, I wouldn’t have stopped our kiss.” He stands up un comes toward me, walking forward until my back is against the wall. His eyes flick down to my lips, and then back at my eyes, and he leans in to press his lips to mine. It’s soft at first, but becomes more passionate in a matter of seconds…

—–End Flashback—–

“Okay Dad! Thanks, that’s all I need to hear about that!” Cara yells and gets up off the couch and walks over to her room.

“Your kids will be doing the same thing when you tell them how you and your husband met!” I yelled back to her and laughed. She’d need to get used to it sooner or later.

Just as I finished my sentence, Vic walks into the house, returning from grocery shopping and carrying two rather heavy bags inside.

“What are you two fighting about now?” Vic laughs and sets the bags down in the kitchen before walking back into the living room.

I smile at him. “I was just telling her the story of how we got together. That stupid Christmas video for the label. And the almost-kiss every Fuenciado-shipper obsessed over for ages.”

Vic walks over to me and I wrap my arms around his slim form. “Ah.” He sighs, “I remember that night very well. Such passion from a spastic man.” He pokes my nose.

“I love you, babe.” I kiss his forehead.

“I love you too, Jaime.” He kisses my lips softly.

As we pull away you can hear Cara groaning in her room. “God! Can you guys not make out when I’m in the same general area? Jeez!”

“Hi to you too Cara!” Vic smiles at me but projects the words to our daughter. He then leans in and whispers seductively in my ear, “Maybe we send her out tonight to a friend’s house and have some fun?”

I groan softly and yell to Cara, “Cara, pack your bags! You’re going to Emily’s!”

Heart Eyes

summary: phil finds out about ‘heart eyes howell.’ he tries catching it.

info: fluff (as per fucking usual), a lil’ longer

a/n: a little angst??? do i even know how to write angst

-

Phil has seen it plenty of times. Heart Eyes Howell.

It wasn’t something he minded, though. Phil knew his audience definitely did. But what they didn’t understand was it was just Dan’s thing. He stared at people when they talk. Cat, Louise, Tyler- anyone and everyone. It was regular.

But as he was feeling adventurous, he decided to scroll through the ‘phan’ tag on Tumblr. Phil knew it was a death trap and nothing good could come out of this except curiosity, pastel colors and a feminine Dan Howell.

Phil sat on his bed, crossed legs like a kindergartener.

Curiosity killed the cat,” He thought, considering putting away his laptop and doing something productive like watering the houseplants, “Oh well.”

It was edits, quotes and gifs galore.

Phil almost couldn’t believe that his fans were capable of doing something so amazing; creating this amazing community for everyone.

Sometimes he would laugh, sometimes he would just raise his eyebrows. He didn’t understand some of the things his following did, but Phil loved them too much to judge them for anything. He considered them family.

Then, the posts started coming through. The conspiracies.

he’s in love with him

they’re too married for this world

Phil read off some of the words they have written. The pictures, the old tweets. He’ll admit that all of them are 100% true. Dan on the other hand, won’t even talk to him about the past. He ignores it like they never even happened.

Like they were always this way.

Just purely platonic best friends who could rule the world side by side.

Phil sighed, still scrolling through. “Those Heart Eyes again- are they really this common?”

Left and right were pictures of Dan staring at Phil like he was the only thing he cared about. Black and white filters to add some effect- Someone had to have edited this in some way to make it seem like that, right?

Phil knew he was lying to himself.

You know what? I’m gonna catch him. Every chance I get.

-

“Hey everyone!” Dan exclaimed to the camera, as they filmed yet another gaming video. Undertale, which meant one hour in front of a camera. Phil not only had his own two eyes to catch Heart Eyes in action- but a camera lens.

Phil forgot for a second what he was planning on saying. He came up with this stuff on the spot, “Hey Dan and Phil Games short haircuts!”

Still looking at the camera, he tried to focus in on Dan. “Really? Short haircuts?”

He was doing it.

Exactly what everyone was talking about. His eyes had a sparkle, and his smile was almost loving. Dan’s head was tilted in his direction, and he looked like an absolute angel.

“W-Well, Toto has short hair, don’t they?” Phil replied, stuttering a bit. He was taken aback. He didn’t know he would actually catch it- especially that quickly.

Dan chuckled, “Sure- Sure, Phil.”

Alright, let’s get into it. Where did we leave off?”

-

They filmed, and filmed, and filmed.

Phil would make a remarking joke and Dan would just chuckle, staring straight into his eyes, completely ignoring the fact that they were playing a game. It would only be for a split second, but it felt like years. Phil would stare right back, almost transfixed on him.

So, this is what people are talking about- huh.

It happened quite a few times, really. Sometimes randomly and other moments Phil wouldn’t even notice he was doing it. Is this what the people are talking about?

He could tell Dan was getting freaked out by his weird behavior this episode- though weird behavior was his forte. So, Dan pause the gameplay and turned over to him.

“What’s wrong? You’re acting a little weird today.” Dan asked, genuinely concerned. Phil only froze in place, trying to seem fine- he wasn’t.

“Nothing’s wrong, Dan- let’s keep going-”

“Nothing’s wrong? It sure as hell doesn’t seem like anything’s wrong. You’ve been staring at me like there’s something in my eye- Oh my god, do I have something in my eye? Ugh, I hate it when that happens-” Dan ranted, probing at the inner corners of his eyes with his finger. Phil shushed him, rolling his eyes.

Putting his hands on top of his, he felt a little shiver run up his arm but continued on to talk, “Absolutely nothing is in your eye, and absolutely nothing is going on with me- Now, can we please get back to filming?”

His eyes begged Dan to just unpause the game and continue playing like they were planning to. But as they were flatmates, Phil knew Dan like the back of his hand, and he certainly wasn’t going to do that.

“No, Phil- just tell me what’s going on.” He did it again. The eyes- they were sparkling with interest. They were no longer just a brown glob, but something more than Phil could’ve even seen before.

His almost wanted to remove his hands from his, but he didn’t want to. It felt comforting. Right

Phil snapped out of it. He felt something he didn’t want to feel and he was sure Dan could see his mind freaking out from the outside. “I’m sorry, look- nothing’s wrong.”

“Then why the fuck are you apologizing?” He chuckled sarcastically. Dan’s face could only describe confusion at this point.

“Because, I’m assuming shit- sorry- that I shouldn’t.” Phil apologized for cursing, even though he knew that Dan didn’t care. Of all people, he shouldn’t have to apologize to Dan for cursing- of all things.

Dan smiled, looking up.

“Phil, you’re my best friend in the entire fucking world. I know I’m not the best at listening, but Jesus Christ- I care about you more than anything. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ve come a long way, and I thank you for that.

“You’re quite literally the sun- spreading joy like a fucking confetti blaster and I just want you- need you to tell me what’s wrong. It could be the most stupidest thing- a dog bit you this morning- you want to move out- I don’t care,” He smiled even more, “Whatever makes you happy.”

Phil could feel the tension between them. He could slice it with a knife. And Dan could feel it as well. Honestly, it was always there; ever since good ol’ 2009.

They were extremely close, feet touching underneath the table. Their hands were gripping onto each others like they were never planning on letting go. Phil savored it.

The moment wasn’t perfect though. Dan had a bit of lint on his shoulder that’s been annoying Phil since the beginning of the day. Phil hadn’t brushed his teeth since breakfast and his breath smelt of death- coming from Dan’s perspective.

But none of that mattered. Phil’s mind was rushing with adrenaline from Dan. His features were softer- more touchable than before. He didn’t know what love felt like, as he has never experienced it.

But Phil kissed him anyway.

He heard Dan breath in, and felt Dan smile, kissing him back.

It felt natural, as Phil’s hands went straight in to pull Dan closer. Grabbing his hair, Dan twisted it around his fingers. He tasted the cereal off his lips. Phil sighed.

I’m certainly taking this out of the video.

aaliyahitsmebish  asked:

Hey I was wondering if you could do a imagine with any of the magcon boys for me I'm not picky so either one is fine. My name is Aaliyah I think u have a great imagination so think of something thanks! I know you'll do great

@y/t/n = your twitter name    y/f/n= your full name

“Hey, babe! I’m home!“ you say, as you put your backpack down on the chair. You had just gotten home from school. Exams just ended and you couldn’t be happier. Jack walks into the room with a stone cold expression on his face, and his eyes dark. “Babe, what-” you begin to say, but get cut off by him. “Care to explain?” he spits, showing you his phone. A fan tweeted a pic of you and your ex boyfriend kissing from 3 years ago.

There were a lot of negative comments on the post. Jack’s jaw was set, and you knew he believed the post. “Babe, that pic was from 3 years ago,” you explain.

“Then why does it say, ‘Taken 4 weeks ago’? And don’t call me babe,“ he growls. You were really surprised. He never acted like this, and he loved when you called him babe. "It was probably just some fan that wants to start drama,” you say. “Are you insulting my fans?” he scowls, looking you dead in the eye. “No, Jack. It’s just. Why do you believe the post? Do you not trust me? I broke up with Logan 3 years ago. I love you and only you.” you state. “Yeah? Well I have a hard time believing that. You traveled to Texas, his home state, oh let me see. 4 weeks ago! Who knows what you could’ve done?!” he yells. “Just trust me on this, Jack!” you say, raising your voice.

"No! I can’t trust a girl who goes behind my back, and cheats on me with her ex! And to think I ever loved you!“ he shouts, running his fingers through his hair. Tears prick in the back of your eyes. "Well, good relationships are all about trust and love!” you yell, your face getting red. “Then maybe we shouldn’t be in a relationship!” he screams, towering over you. “Yeah, maybe we shouldn’t!” you shout, “I wish I had never dated you!” You regret it as soon as you say it. The world freezes. Jack’s eyes fill with hurt, then more anger. “We’re through so you don’t have to worry about me anymore!” he shouts, walking towards the door.

"I’ll be here tomorrow to pick up my stuff,“ he forces out, before leaving and slamming the door behind him. You let the tears fall, and sobs rake your body. You call your best friend over. As soon as she sees you, she drops her bags, runs up, and hugs you. "What happened?” she whispers, rubbing your back. “J-jack got worked up o-over an old picture of m-me and Logan kissing. We g-got really mad at each other, and ended it,” you whimper. “I’m so sorry. He made a big mistake. He’ll come back. I promise,” she comforts. “But for now, I brought candy, ice cream, Nutella, pretzels, and movies!” she exclaims. You laugh and dry your tears.

There was just a hole in your heart. Not even ice cream, Nutella, or Netflix could fill it. Only Jack could. But for now, it was time to at least try to fill it. “Which movie should we watch first?” your bestie asks. “Um. Pitch Perfect!” you laugh.“There’s my girl!” she says, handing you a pint of ice cream. You lay on the couch, in your pajamas with blankets wrapped around you. Your phone lights up, and it’s a text from Jack Johnson, one of your closest guy friends.

Your best friend reads it. “How does Johnson know?” she questions. “Jack probably told him,” you say, your voice cracking.

*Flashback* Jack G’s POV

I stormed out and slammed the door. I had just walked out on y/n. We ended it. We’re over. My eyes start to pool with tears as I drive to me and Johnson’s place. I don’t let them fall. ‘I just can’t believe her! Why would she cheat on me?! And with her ex!?’ I think as I pull into the driveway. I walk sluggishly to the door and open it, walking in. Johnson is on the couch watching TV. He sees me and his jaw drops. He gets up and heads towards me. As he sits me down on the couch, he says,“Bro, what happened?” He’s never seen me like this. “Y/n and I. W-we broke up. She cheated on me with her ex! I s-saw a picture,” I manage to say. Tears end up pouring down my face, and Jack pats me on the back.

“Hey, I’m sure the pic was old. Believe me, y/n would never cheat on you. She loves you too much,” he soothes. “It doesn’t seem like it,” I mumble. “Give it some time. You guys will fix things. I promise,” Johnson says. “Thanks, man.” I say, wiping my tears away. “I think I’m just gonna head to bed,” I say, and walk upstairs. I pull the covers tightly around myself, missing her laying down with me. I eventually let more tears slip, wondering what was going on inside y/n’s head before falling into a deep sleep.

*Flashback over* Your POV

You and your best friend stayed up late, but she eventually left because she had to work the next day. You climbed in bed, and laid there, missing Jack’s protective arm around you. Then, you cried yourself to sleep, wondering what was going on in his mind. The next day, you woke up feeling nothing like yourself. Everything felt…wrong without Jack. You just sat on the couch, not knowing what to do. Your phone lit up again, and it was another text from Johnson.

Tears filled your eyes. It was going to be a long day.

Jack G’s POV

I locked myself in my room, ignoring Johnson’s pleas to let him in. I scrolled through Twitter, and landed on the pic of y/n and her ex again. Seeing them together and kissing killed me. Tears flooded my eyes and everything became blurry for a minute. But then it all came into focus. The tiny print in the bottom right corner of the pic. ‘Taken 3 years ago.’ My mind took a few minutes to process it. Uh oh, I had read it wrong before. A fan must’ ve edited it to start drama. But now I know. I had walked out on y/n for nothing. Absolutely nothing. I sighed. Then, and idea popped into my head. I knew how I would get her back.

Your POV

As you sat in bed, you wondered if Jack would actually come back to pick up his stuff. The opening and closing of your door confirmed your thoughts. Jack walked in. He looked like a mess, but then again, so did you. “Jack, I-” you begin, but he cuts you off. “Shh. Just hear me out,” he said. You closed your mouth and listened. He began to sing Sorry by Justin Bieber. As he sang, he looked you deep in the eyes.

You gotta go and get
Angry at all of my honesty
You know I try but I don’t do too well with apologies
I hope I don’t run out of time, could someone call a referee?
Cause I just need one more shot at forgiveness

I know you know that I
Made those mistakes maybe once or twice
And by once or twice I Mean
Maybe a couple a hundred times
So let me oh let me
Redeem oh redeem oh myself tonight
Cause I just need one more shot at second chances

Yeah
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Cause I’m missing more than just your body, ohh
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?
I’m sorry yeah
Sorry yeah
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

I’ll take every single piece of the blame
If you want me too
But you know that there is no innocent one in this game for two
I’ll go I’ll go and then
You go you go out and spill the truth
Can we both say the words, say forget this?

Yeah
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Cause I’m missing more than just your body, ohh
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

I’m not just trying to get you back on me (oh, no, no)
Cause I’m missing more than just your body (your body), ohh
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

I’m sorry (yeah)
Sorry (oh)
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down (let you down)
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

I’m sorry (yeah)
Sorry (oh)
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down (let you down)
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

As he finished the last verse, he stepped closer to you and grabbed your hand. “I’m so sorry. I should have listened to you. Can you forgive me?” he whispers. “Yes, I already have,” you reply, hugging him. He smiles, and it’s the brightest thing you’ve seen since the breakup. But that was past, you two were back together. Stronger than ever. He pulled you into a passionate kiss. You two broke apart, and rested your foreheads against each others. “I love you, Jack Gilinsky,” you say. “I love you even more, y/f/n.” he says. Believe it or not, that was only one tiny chapter in your amazing love story.

Here you go! I originally had this in my drafts, but I hope you like it! :D

Taylor Swift’s first song came out 10 years ago. Here’s what she was like as a teen songwriter.

Once a week after school in 2005, teenage Taylor Swift would bounce into Nashville songwriter Liz Rose’s office, blond curls everywhere, chatting excitedly about her day. She liked to grab water and maybe a handful of M&Ms before she settled in behind a guitar or piano. Then, abruptly, she would snap into work mode and start to write a song, with a laser-like focus that might surprise anyone who has spent time with a teen.

One afternoon, Swift told Rose, “I had this idea in math class today.” The song was about her boyfriend who was going off to college, and how she hoped he would think of her every time he heard a Tim McGraw ballad. Swift sang her opening line: “He said the way my blue eyes shine put those Georgia stars to shame that night/I said, ‘That’s a lie.’”

Of course, that became “Tim McGraw,” Swift’s debut single released 10 years ago on June 19, 2006. Little did anyone know that song would trigger the start of Swift’s career, as in the last decade, she’s gone from teenage country singer to the most famous pop star on the planet.

“I mean, I was catching flak: ‘What are you doing writing with a 14-year-old?’” her co-writer Rose, one of the top songwriters in Nashville, recalled recently by phone. “I was like, ‘Hey, this kid’s brilliant, and it’s the easiest, funnest thing I do all week. And too bad y’all are not a part of it.’”

Too bad indeed – “Tim McGraw” went platinum and landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard chart, a sign of things to come. Looking back now, Rose says it’s surreal that song started Swift’s journey.

Rose first met Swift at a Nashville writer’s round, where songwriters get together to perform their songs. Swift, signed as a writer to Sony/ATV Publishing at the time, asked Rose if she would be interested in getting together for a co-write. Rose agreed and the two quickly hit it off.

“The first time we wrote, I walked out and said, ‘I don’t know what I was doing there,’” Rose said. “She really didn’t need me.”

While working on “Tim McGraw,” Rose took on her usual role when writing with Swift, which was editing. While Rose is primarily a lyricist, she said Swift would come in full of her own ideas for the words and the melody, and Rose would mostly give her suggestions of what to cut and what to swap around, sometimes taking something Swift said and turning it into a lyric.

However, when Swift suggested calling the song “Tim McGraw,” Rose was a bit doubtful about that direct title – though she didn’t want to second-guess Swift, who seemed to know exactly what she was doing and had a complete picture of the song in mind.

“It was so bold of her…The Nashville songwriter in me was like, ‘Okay, this is weird, but if that’s what you want to do,” Rose admits. “I did think it was a little strange. I was like, ‘What’s Tim going to think?’”

Regardless, the two finished work on the song fairly quickly the same day they started it; Rose said she doesn’t even think Swift made a demo tape. As soon as the president of Swift’s label, Scott Borchetta, heard Swift play the song, he immediately declared it her first single. The decision paid off – and as it turned out, McGraw was quite flattered by the call-out.

The Swift-Rose collaboration wound up being lucrative, as the two wrote more than a dozen songs together. Rose remembers many memorable Swift co-songwriting experiences, such as penning Grammy Award-winning “White Horse” in the studio, or writing “Fearless” — the title track of her Grammy-winning sophomore album — backstage while Swift was on tour with Rascal Flatts.

Or the time they wrote the smash “You Belong With Me” and Rose tried to talk Swift out of the wording for the line “I’m in my room, it’s a typical Tuesday night,” urging her to go with the more common Friday or Saturday. Swift was adamant they keep it Tuesday – and clearly it worked out pretty well. (We emailed her spokesperson to see if Swift could elaborate about the songwriting process.)

Once, several years later when Swift was working on her “Red” album, she called Rose and asked for her help with the lyrics for a song called “All Too Well,” which was way too long. “Do you think you could come over in about an hour?” Swift asked.

At the time, Rose was in the middle of a move and battling a terrible sinus infection. “Sure!” Rose responded, trying not to sound sick. “Absolutely, I’ve got nothing going on.” She threw the movers her keys, got some Kleenex, and was out the door.

It was a wise choice, as the song is now a fan-favorite album cut. Rose knew early on that when Swift called, you should drop everything – unlike those in Nashville who originally scoffed at writing with a teenager.

“Yeah,” Rose laughs. “There’s a lot of writers in town kicking themselves.”

XSEED Localization General Blog #1

Hey, guys,

This is Brittany again, Localization Producer at XSEED and lead editor for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II and Trails in the Sky the 3rd. While it’s been a while since we’ve done a blog related to Trails, I’d actually like to save that kind of talk for another day and veer into a more personal direction with both the series and my place in the company as a whole. Get ready for some super deep real talk, friends.

A few months back, I was talking with someone who is currently around the same age as I was when I started with XSEED. He was saying how working in games was a dream job, but he was far, far away from anything related to the games industry, didn’t really know how to make his way in because he felt he had nothing special to offer, had never lived on his own, didn’t have any “real” goals with college…pretty much what anyone at 21 would say. I wasn’t much different.

My start in games was completely by chance. I grew up playing video games and loved them, but I was from a small town in the middle of nowhere with zero connections to anything related to games. I never liked school, but I loved working, and even if I didn’t have any particular goals in life, I figured I’d just stay in the small town I never liked and settle for government work and an easy, stable paycheck. Then, right before my 22nd birthday, I got completely plastered at a friend’s house, and in my drunk ramblings to my mother as she drove me home (don’t drink and drive, legally-able-to-drink kiddos), I told her I was going to leave home for the first time and move about 3,000 miles to live on an acquaintance’s floor for a few months while I started a new life in California. I didn’t know what I wanted out of life, but I knew it wasn’t what I currently had, so I figured it was about time I go searching. A couple months later, I did exactly that.

anonymous asked:

What are you talking about that your USC and film connections didn’t help you land an agent? They’re the reason you got one as quickly as you did. You said in your blog, the connections hand-delivered your MS to Suzie Townsend’s hands, bypassing all the gatekeeping/submissions rules other writers have to follow. So own it - you had a quick route to publishing unlike everyone else, but don’t try to play it off like it didn’t happen that way just to make yourself seem to accessible or DTE.

The question this anon is referring to:

“Hey Victoria! I saw you also went to USC and I’m curious if having Trojan connections helped you at all in the way of finding an agent for Red Queen? I just graduated and am about to start querying a YA fantasy, looking for any and all things that might grab someone’s attention!”

Response:

“Nah, the USC family has been great on the film side (I got a general meeting off a pilot I wrote senior year and that got my writing career rolling), but it doesn’t hurt either!”

I believe you are misunderstanding me on several levels.

1) The person asked about Trojan connections. They’re a fellow Trojan, part of what we call the Trojan Family or USC Mafia. It’s a very big network within Los Angeles and the film industry. I have not really met anyone in publishing from within the Trojan Family, but I can’t tell you how many film general meetings* I’ve walked into and known or known of someone from their USC connections.

2) I clearly stated the general meeting I got off a pilot I wrote at USC got my writing career rolling. That’s the meeting where I vaguely pitched RQ and was told to pursue it with no guarantees of anything

3) “Bypassing all the gatekeeping/submissions rules other writers have to follow” - do you know how many people have different paths to publishing? You understand that you don’t have to query either, but you do have to find another way in, right? You don’t have to do things that way, but you have to find a way. Trust me, if I had known querying agents was so open (in film, it’s such a closed system), I would have looked into it much, much sooner. Agents just list their emails and what they’re looking for! That sounds crazy!

*General meeting: (since you don’t seem to understand what that is) extremely common thing, going on generals is known as the “couch-and-water-bottle-tour” where your reps set you up meeting with executives at different production companies and studios. You go in, chat for a half hour, they get a feel for you and whether or not they’d like to work with you on something. 9 times out of 10, these result in nothing. It’s part of the job, and the majority of my general meetings have been acquired to further the screenwriting/film side of my writing career.

I’m also going to say my publishing path, yet again, because it’s clearly outlined elsewhere, but people seem to have trouble making this connection:

April/May 2012:

-USC First Pitch, a speed-date situation where you pitch your film/tv projects to executives, managers, agents

-I submit my portfolio to about 20 different representatives or companies that requested it

-I get one general meeting request from Benderspink. This is where my USC “connections” end. I got a meeting through their pitchfest. From here on out, it is entirely on me and the skills I’ve picked up through four years of a fantastic BFA and two internships.

-At the Benderspink meeting, I pitch a tv show, a movie, and a vague idea of Red Queen. I said “I want to write the next big YA novel, here’s what I think it is.” I’ve explained in previous posts why I phrased it this way (summary: because pitching is a big picture game), because people have decided to hate me for voicing it.

-they said “sure, do it” and connected me with my first manager at Benderspink. I was not officially signed with them, but hip-pocketed, which has way less stability and no guarantee of representation.

July 2012:

-I realize if I want to pursue writing the Red Queen idea, I have to move home to do it. I have no money, no job, and no strong support system in LA. Luckily my parents were all for it.

January 2012:

-I finish the first draft of Red Queen. I sent it to my manager, who has just quit to write full time. I panic.

-I expect notes back from him. Maybe. He doesn’t owe me anything and could easily say, too bad, I’m done! Really I didn’t know what to expect. Instead he tells me he forwarded the draft to Pouya Shahbazian at New Leaf Literary, who he recently worked with while optioning the rights for another project. I do some research (Googling) and realize NL is awesome. I am terrified.

-Pouya reads the summary of Red Queen and forwards it to Suzie Townsend.

-Suzie reads Red Queen. She calls to chat with me and wants me to do a round of edits. I obviously agree.

February 2012:

-I submit my edited draft of Red Queen to Suzie.

-I sign with Suzie and New Leaf. We do another round of edits.

-At this point, I have cut about 40k words from the original draft of RQ.

March 2012:

-More edits.

April 2012:

-We go on submission with a draft of RQ.

-We sell to HarperTeen two weeks into submission.

etc.

Now to say “film connections” landed me my publishing agent. Absolutely I would not have hooked up with Suzie if my film manager hadn’t forwarded the draft. Absolutely. But that is how the industry works. There are authors who wouldn’t be working in film/tv if their agents hadn’t secured them a meeting. Our representatives get us jobs and create windows of opportunities. But we still have to be good enough to rise to the occasion. If my manuscript was garbage, Suzie would not have wasted her time. If I was bad at pitching, my film management wouldn’t have encouraged me to pursue writing. If I hadn’t written a good pilot my senior year, I would never have landed that management meeting. If I wasn’t a good, hungry, dedicated storyteller, I would not have been accepted to USC’s screenwriting program. That’s how it works.

I’ll leave you with some very wise advice from a professor of mine.

“Good luck is an opportunity you are prepared for. Bad luck is an opportunity you aren’t.”

I have had extremely good luck.

*what does DTE mean?*
