Shadow Moon is just so pure and unequivocally good, and I’m just in awe of him. He’s confused and unable to grasp what’s going on around him. He’s in denial. Sure, he’s seen all these ridiculous and illogical things but he’s still unwilling to believe what he’s seeing. He still wants to hold on to his long-held philosophy, and can we blame him? I know some people think it’s odd that he’s still unable to believe what he’s seeing, but it’s realistic. No one really wants to believe in something that challenges everything they already believe in, even if they’re seeing it with their own two eyes. Once you start believing in the impossible, you can’t go back and your entire life changes. That’s when it becomes real.
You’re more comfortable gravitating towards what you know, even if evidence says otherwise. The unknown is terrifying; no one wants to venture into the unknown because there’s a lack of predictability that comes with it.
When something’s familiar and predictable, it’s safe. When it’s not, it’s not. You know what to expect from the familiar, but you don’t know what to expect from the unknown and that makes some people hesitant to move forward. I’m just happy that we’re finally able to get this take on this strange new world from the perspective of a Black man. In Abbie Mills, we were able to get the perspective of a strange new world where weird things happened through the eyes of a Black woman. As short-lived as that win was, it was still a win. I wish we could have seen a world where Shadow Moon & Abbie Mills existed at the same time, because the possibilities would have been endless. It would have been amazing inspiration for some thought-provoking, abstract meta. The comparisons would have sparked quite a few things that we probably wouldn’t have thought about before. Abbie, just like Shadow, saw something impossible happen too but she refused to believe what she saw. Even though there was evidence of what happened to her, she blocked it out and refused to believe it. Abbie & Shadow are so much alike, and it’s a shame they couldn’t exist at the same time.
With all that being said, I think it’s important to acknowledge and celebrate how groundbreaking Shadow Moon is and how different he is from the other Black male characters we’ve been exposed to in the last few years. He’s so different, and I don’t think we give the writers & Ricky enough credit for bringing Shadow Moon to life and creating a character you genuinely want to see win.
You’re only able to maintain the visage of being a person when no one’s looking, is that it? Or are you the only one who’s blind to what you really are?
(Just because you’re dead (ish) doesn’t mean you can’t have nice hair; one-upping Jack from beyond the grave (kind of). Also this whole thing begins because someone walked on his lawn. You’re not the only one with a lawn, JACK. His lawn has goth lawn flamingos is better than yours.)
“I’m used to people staring at the 6 and a half foot tall oxwoman, don’t worry about me. Just concerned about the effect this will have on your reputation with your troops.”
“I’m not. Let them talk.”
Stressful week at work requires unwinding with silly wildly-OOC fluff. Heavily inspired by this delightful post. Cullen does much the same thing when an Adaar asks him to sneak away to the battlements. The kissing in broad daylight, completely out in the open thing would be conspicuous enough, but frequently planting his face in the Inquisitor’s chest would likely invite all kinds of ….. input from the people down below
Requested by @derangedangel : Imagine request :) Reader
is the same age as Scott & the others but has a crush on Derek & is
always flirting with him but Derek doesn’t reciprocate those feelings because
of the age difference. But reader is in it for the “long game.” Like
a GMW Maya & Josh situation. A few years later reader comes back &
Derek likes her back. Thanks :D
Y/N couldn’t keep
her lips from forming into a smirk as she saw Derek’s picture appear on her
phone. She had just moved back to Beacon Hills earlier today into her new
apartment. She had spent most of the day unpacking her boxes, and was already
in bed watching a movie on her laptop. She quickly swiped her thumb across the
phone and answered. “Hello, stranger. It’s after midnight. No guy ever
calls a girl after midnight except for one-"
Derek interrupted followed by a loud growl. Y/N could hear Derek’s heartbeat
going crazy and his labored breathing. What caught her attention was hearing
another heartbeat. “I need you."
His voice was
filled with worry, which caused Y/N to sit up straight in her bed alarmed.
"Derek, where are you?”
know…” he whispered unexpectedly. He no longer sounded like he was in
pain or fighting against someone. He now sounded weak and hurt.
need you to talk to me. What do you see?” She asked as she quickly got out
of bed to get dressed.
see anything…” he mumbled. She rushed as she heard his heartbeat getting
weaker by the second.
She swallowed hard
as she closed her eyes, letting a tear fall down her cheek. She was absolutely
terrified for him. “Derek… I’m going to come and get you, okay? But I
need to call Stiles to help me. Can you answer the phone if I call you
“My phone… is
going to die…”
She whispered to herself. She put on her shoes as an idea crossed her mind.
“After you hang up with me, turn off your phone and save the battery for
about 10 minutes. That’ll be about the time it will take me to get to Stiles’
office at the police station. I’ll call you back but you have to answer,
kay…” he mumbled weakly.
Her voice trembled. He hummed a small ‘yes’. “Please answer the
promise,” he said before he hung up and turned off his phone like he was
told to do.
Y/N grabbed her
keys before rushing to her car. Her fingers trembled as she dialed Stiles’
number. For some strange reason a flashback flooded her mind to the first time
she went to Stiles for help with Derek.
I can find a little bit of you in everything. I can find you in the smell of freshly brewed coffee and I can find you in the warmth of a soft blanket on a cold day. I still remember the way you wrapped your arms around me so tightly and the way you smiled when you were exhausted. I can’t forget you. I don’t know if I even want to.
I wish it could just be us again. I need you now more than ever.
