The press secretary of the White House just lied in front of millions of people and basically said the mosque shooter in Quebec was a Muslim refugee by touting “this is ANOTHER exmaple of why we must remain proactive rather than reactive”–very clearly exploiting the false info being spread by right-wing news outlets
The shooter was a white supremacist. He was white. He murdered Muslims in cold blood last night. The police have already released his name and confirmed he was white and a white supremacist. His name was Alexandre Bissonette.
He killed 6 people at mosque. There are children who woke up without parents today I can’t believe this is happening I cannot believe he’s blatantly lying
41, worked as an analyst-programmer for the Quebec government. “He had two young children who waited in vain for their father to return home,”
Azzeddine Soufiane, 57, was originally from Morocco and emigrated to Quebec City to attend Laval University. He was known as a backbone for newly arrived Muslims. “He was almost like the president of the community. He helped and guided all the people who arrived here – students, families,” said a member of his Moroccan community group.
Khaled Belkacemi, 60, was from Algeria. He received a master’s in chemical engineer from Université de Sherbrooke and was a professor at Laval University.
Boubaker Thabti, 44, was a pharmacy worker from Tunisia who lived only 5 minutes away from the mosque. He had two children, ages 3 and 10.
Mamadou Tanou Barry, 42, and Ibrahima Barry, 39, were friends and civil-servants from Guinea that lived in the same apartment building, but were not related despite sharing the same last name. Ibrahima Barry worked for the health insurance board and had four young children, and Mamadou was an IT worker who left behind two sons.
I want every news org to put this fact front and center when writing about the shooting.
This is your daily reminder that this is not normal. Donald Trump is unqualified, racist, misogynistic, ill-tempered, unintelligent; he has no grasp of how our government is supposed to work; he has conflicts of interest so numerous that two presidential ethics lawyers have bi-partisanly teamed up to combat them; he’s been sued so many times I can’t list them all here; he’s still being sued by a multitude of people, and will continue to be long into his presidency.
The Russian government blatantly interfered with his election through email hacks and wikileaks: this has been confirmed by multiple national intelligence agencies; he has no regard for the truth, or facts, or scientific data; he gets into fights with people on twitter at 3am.
He called Mexicans rapists and criminals; he wanted to create a registry for Muslim Americans; he doesn’t take no for an answer, whether its coming from a woman or the President of Mexico; he refuses to attend security briefings; he’s costing the government millions by refusing to leave his office in Trump Tower; his cabinet is as unqualified and uninformed as he is.
He lost the popular vote by over three million (3,000,000) people. The American people did not elect him. Donald Trump should not be President of the United States.
Especially my disabled Jewish friends:
We are afraid for our lives.
Me, a disabled cishet white-passing guy and veteran who has studied Holocaust Literature:
Trump's doctrine matches up with Hitler's point for point.
Muslims across America:
We are afraid for our lives.
All of my non-white, non-straight, disabled, and non-cis friends:
Trump's a Nazi, and his policies are terrifying.
ACTUAL HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS:
Trump is another Hitler.
Announces the appointment of the author of the "papers please" law (which allowed AZ cops to stop anyone who wasn't white and demand to see proof of citizenship and jail them if they weren't carrying it) to his transition team, will get to appoint 3 or 4 SCOTUS Justices (with a rubber stamp Congress), who will determine for the next 30 to 50 years what is considered constitutional, has publicly stated women should be punished for having abortions, throws non-white people out of his speaking engagements, has stated that he wants to force Muslims to wear badges and carry special IDs, plans to round up millions of brown people "humanely" to "relocate" them (which is what the Nazis claimed they were doing with the Jews they rounded up), and on and on and on...
cishet white males:
"Oh, that's just fear-mongering. You're just upset that your candidate didn't win. This isn't 1930s Germany, ha ha, grow up and stop with the name-calling."
Okay so my sister and I were discussing this mess last night and then we ended up seriously considering a theory I have seen come up a few times but now I’m gonna walk you through it
Here it is:
It’s all a lie – Yousef lied Mikael lied. They are lying.
Yousef said that Even kissed Mikael which caused Mikael to be distant and Even to hate himself..
Well tell me Yousef
If Mikael is so ashamed, then why does he bring up Evens name? and why is he laughing when he does?
and why are you Yousef looking so mad and sad and guilty?
Why does Yousef have a pride flag next to his message to Sana?
Why does he say Mikael is super religious when he clearly isn’t that religious because he drinks
why does Elias declare Yousef as the “most Muslim person he knows”
Why was the Even thing big enough to impact Yousef so much but not Mikael?
Why does Yousef avoid the fight and send Sana off into it alone?
Why does he go and kiss the first girl he sees after witnessing the fight with Even and his new crew?
I think you know where I’m going with this: Yousef is questioning his sexuality and is ashamed of it. Him and Even kissed which caused a lot of disaster with Even and when it was threatened to come out to everyone and the balloon boys Mikael took the fall for Yousef. Mikael stepped up and pretended it was him that Even kissed.
What could possibly hint that Mikael would do something like that for Yousef?
Remember that youtube video where they went to Mikaels job interview and Yousef took Mikael aside and they had a secret conversation?
this wasn’t there for no reason. This was almost foreshadowing that Yousef and Mikael have secrets, they have each others backs. They share a special connection.
Now this is what we’re thinking. Did Yousef see Even and panic? Did he see that the truth could come out right in front of everyone? Was he frightened? Remember we saw him go up to Elias and looking outside.
What if…what if Yousef somehow started the fight to avoid the truth…to make sure nothing slipped about what actually happened and that’s why when it did start he ran off sent Sana out to stop it and kissed the first girl in sight…proving he is straight.
Also he kisses Noora similar to how Isak kissed Emma
The girls hands wrapped around their necks while they have their hands by their sides. Both boys wearing snapbacks backwards and standing on the same side.
I know this seems far fetched but maybe this is the twist we have been waiting for.
The trailer is reversed – this season is reversed and as we saw Friday night, it is the roles that are truly reversed. Just like I’ve been saying Mikael and Yousef are reversed this whole time.
Is Yousef truly the Mikael in this story and Mikael is the Yousef?
Omg if Julie does this my mind is literally going to be blown apart. Ahhhhhhhh
(Side note: to clarify I am not saying this is going to happen - it’s a theory, nor do I personally believe this will happen. I have just had this theory been addressed with me by multiple people (including my irl sister) and I wanted to outline why this theory is actually totally plausible and could be done and actually hinted in the show already….Do I think Julie will go down this route? no but could she? hell yeah.)
There’s a town of about 70 people in Michigan – an incorporated community – called Hell. For $100, you can temporarily become the mayor. So comedian Elijah Daniel did just that, and he used his powers to ban heterosexuality.
Daniel based his ban almost verbatim on Donald Trump’s “extreme vetting” policy outlawing Muslims. And he really thought through the details:
His mayoral proclamation explains that when he was growing up, he was often told that homosexuals would go to hell. But “now the heterosexuals are trying to take that from us too,” Daniel wrote.
So, as mayor of Hell, he would establish “new vetting measures to keep radical heterosexuals out of our town.”
To make sure his words reached as many people as possible, he posted the ban on Twitter.
Lest he seem bigoted, Daniel offered local heterosexuals a chance to stay in Hell for a price: Fork over $84,000, which they would get back after one year of abstinence from straight sex.
“Reparative therapy” to find one’s gay side was also to be strongly encouraged. The alternative: being forced to wear a scarlet H and cargo shorts in the town square every morning for some public straight-shaming.
He was impeached shortly after enacting the policy, because every mayor of Hell gets impeached, but also because that’s what should happen when you try to ban an entire group of people from your community. And yet.
“I’m Muslim and I trust you. Do you trust me enough for a hug?”
don’t know why people always blame all the muslims for crime. How can u
believe that person is 100% muslim? Islam never teaches to kill
innocent people. If a muslim kills innocent people, then he is
not a muslim. ONE DIRTY FISH CAN MAKE WHOLE RIVER DIRTY!
wish all the problems of the world were solved this way, respecting
other ways of living and trusting each other. My congratulations to that
the immense guilt sana feels because she likes yousef, she likes him so much, and he likes her back. she’s looking for something, anything, that tells her it’s okay, they can be together. and then she hears her mom saying to elias she’s worried sana and yousef are growing too close, and suddenly there’s the pressure from her family too. and the one person sana feels she can talk to and who listens to her might be the one person she can’t have
I know it’s all chaotic now because Sana’s love interest turned out not to be Muslim, and that’s a challenge to be honest. But I want to see things here from Yousef’s perspective.
Yousef Acar is a Muslim name, he’s more likely to be born into a Muslim family, but throughout his growing up, he just let go of the Islamic faith to adopt non-religious beliefs. So, everyone just assumes he’s a Muslim, until he points out the opposit. But, that doesn’t happen often. I mean, for a Norwegian person to say they’re not Muslim, it’s not something that would come off as unusual, but for someone from a Muslim culture to say they’re not Muslim, the reactions to that differ. I relate to this point so much. I was born in a Muslim country, into a Muslim family, where everyone just assumes I’m Muslim and if I say I’m not, it’s first taken for a joke. But, in fact, I’m not Muslim, but my family, my society, my name, everything says that I am.
And to be very honest, you DO get judged for being an ex-Muslim (even though I don’t indentify as the such, ‘cause I never really willlingly belonged to the Islamic faith, I just was taught the religion and lived by its teachings); and that’s possibly why Yousef doesn’t tell people often that he’s not Muslim. I mean, Elias’ parents there think he’s Muslim and he didn’t justify his “drinking Vodka” by his not being a Muslim, but he used the “it’s for a friend” excuse. Because explaining that he’s not is bothersome. It’s not like a typical Norwegian (Even for example) saying the Vodka is theirs, in that situation, the mom wouldn’t even ask “Do you drink ?”, it’s different ‘cause they have prejudice, because your culture and heritage all point out to your being a Muslim, but nah, you’re not. People judge. Especially the elderly. I mean, i never got to tell my parents I’m not Muslim, and it’s not happening soon. (and let me note here that this could be an issue Yousef is going through with his family too, if, according to my theory, he’s an EX)
That’s why, I, same with Yousef, try to keep our beliefs to ourselves and just go in with the talk when people assume we’re Muslim, unless it gets pretty serious, or when I’m close enough with someone to trust them and know they’re open-minded enough. Now, when it comes to romantic relationships, I know how much of a big deal it is to a Muslim person who seeks a SERIOUS relationship to be with someone who is Muslim, that’s why I actually keep this info from my love interests, fearing it’d put them off. But, Yousef here actually told Sana even though he’s SO crushing on her. He was probably worried as fuck when he wrote those words to her, because he likes her and he’d love to be her partner, and he realizes that that info might drive her away from him, YET he told her. And that touched me to be honest. It spoke to me in levels, it was beautiful, that he valued her enough to tell her and throw the ball to her side now, as if telling her “here’s my puzzle, sort it out for I can’t do anything with it”, as if admitting to her the issue that they’ll face in a potential relation and asking from her to have an opinion on it, and that shows how much INTERESTED he is in her.
“But what about the warning signs? You have to ignore all the blatant racism, misogyny, bigotry and the people he was surrounding himself with. He told these people he was going to take away the ACA. He encouraged violence against protestors during the campaign.
He bragged he'd ban Muslims. He bragged about the wall. He bragged about assaulting women. He mocked the disabled.
It's not like there was just one incident. It was a daily deluge of hatred. But they voted for that hatred. They voted to destroy what this country stands for. They voted for a guy who has a VP who believes in conversion therapy. The VP believes that religion should trump law when it comes to anything. Steve Bannon is a self described Leninist. He believes in destroying the state. And, guess what, he's now in a position to do it. All the warning signs were there and they chose to ignore them. Like the people who voted for Hitler in '32.”
-Dude I know had an epic rant on why he ultimately couldn’t sympathise with Trump supporters.
I showed today’s conversation between sana and isak to a Muslim friend of mine and she actually got the main message better than 80% of this fandom without watching skam: “of course he can’t compare being gay to being Muslim but he really has a point. Racism comes from wrong information and making up your own answers without asking any questions. It’s a really nice show for animating the watchers to ask in case of being uninformed instead of believing everything on media and making up your own truth”
