There are certain pictures you see from the World Cup that stay with you, pictures that have a meaning far deeper than the trophy that the team won. A brotherly embrace. For just a few moments suspended in time, long enough for the cameraman to capture this moment to the world, saying ‘We don’t care if you support Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, in this moment, we are one. One team. One country. One glorious moment embedded in our minds that will stay with us forever.’
LOS CENTENARIOS: Reaching 100 caps is a magical number of prestige and recognition. Because this is probably the last time we will see this generation play together and play for the national team, I want the Australia match to serve as a proper send off for the players who brought Spain glory at two Euro Cups and a World Cup. I want this to be a proper curtain call. Torres and Villa in the striking position, Iniesta, Hernandez, Alonso, Fabregas, Busquets, and Pedro in midfield or as fullbacks, Pique and Ramos in the back with Casillas in the goal. Bring the winning team from 2008, 2010, and 2012 to play one last game for Spain. Because they deserve this final game, and Del Bosque better give it to them.
It will be sad but this is the only way that I will be satisfied to see these players go.
Ideally, I’d like their families to appear and share this final moment with them as well.
I’m praying that Del Bosque won’t fail me on this.
