In 1875, during the reign of King Peter IV, one of the abandoned castles of Pennant was in the process of being renovated. When the workers made their way into one of the dungeons, they found a large cache of paintings, jewels and manuscripts. Amongst the collection, the workers found the portrait of a striking woman, although the name of the sitter had faded over the years. Taking the collection to an expert, the King was surprised to be told that the woman was none other than Queen Blanche, the wife of the old King William Amnell of Pennant.
