An Idea

In spite of the Others, the university of Elsewhere is considered a safe place. Sure, you might need to walk the grounds with salt packets in your sleeves or instant porridge oats in your coat pocket. Okay, the vending machines might drop the occasional tooth and the shadows might stretch too far, too real and grasping. Drinking games might have more weight, and an even greater cost, with tall boys dealing the cards nimbly with slender fingers. Some students might be lost, replaced, taken, or changed by the Fair Folk of Elsewhere University.

But there are far worse things lurking just out of sight, drawn close by the Uni’s hallowed grounds. Greater terrors kept away by the Court. Things that make even the most vicious member of the Unseelie seem friendly and mild.

An emaciated pale ‘it’ was spotted late January, scuttling about the edges of a carpark beside the student bar. With ink black eyes, and yellow teeth made for rending and slurping arterial fluid; the beast looked nothing like the swarthy seductive figures found in young adult novels, that the student’s laughed at so often. On one night in early February, the baying of hounds and the hooting of the Fae reached a final crescendo with the piercing shriek of a dying thing. Later that morning, students showered themselves clean of the garlic and herb dip they had rubbed under their armpits, and set to work washing the mustard stains out of the dorm carpets.

Elsewhere University is kept protected from the predators that prowl too close, chased away by the Court.

Bloated, black-skinned corpse eaters are beaten back from the Biology labs. Watch close, as women with fox’s eyes and hair as dark as night, snarl at the scarecrow perched next to the University fountain; the scarecrow mewls quietly from inside its sack head, and is gone the morning after. Dead men with hollow eyes and hissing, maddening tongues are kept at bay, and too clever ravens, broaching bargains in return for first-born children, are mobbed by the Uni’s resident crows.

The only boogeymen tolerated at Elsewhere University are the ones that belong to the Court of the Fair Folk. With only one exception.

The rage of the Gentry is to be feared and respected, and the price of dealing with them is high (though the cost of crossing them is even higher). Some shadow things, nameless beasts, and wayward beings bound to moonlight, are allowed to make their homes at Elsewhere University. But never without the Court’s permission. Never for too long. But once upon a time, a force of nature came to Elsewhere. Something the Fair Folk had no power, alone or as one, to chase off.

It came one day and took the western corner of the University campus as its home, displacing the Court that lived there with ease. The beast, huge and old, slithered beneath the rotted sports shed, hidden at the Edge of Things. Under the derelict and forgotten shed, the fairy hoard had sat (filled with treasures taken, bartered, traded, and stolen from the students).

Now it is no longer theirs to keep. They cannot reclaim it themselves, because that is not the way. The Wee Folk of the Court do not do great deeds, so instead they gift and trick the strongest, smartest, loudest, and most cunning of the University’s students to remove the monster atop their treasures. None have returned.

So, remember, when you walk the western corner of the campus (past the metalworker’s shop), where only the crows fly, and you taste something sharp and acrid in the air, beware that rotted sports shed, hidden just at the Edge of Things. For the rage of the fae is nothing compared to the wroth of the Wyrm that sleeps there; far older and more cunning, with no patience for feeble dealings, and no compromise for those that dare steal. (themagnificentgod)

The official reason the old english building is fenced off is structural damage (it does almost violently decrepit), and possibly some kind of toxic chemical (the faculty’s reasons are vague). You don’t need to be told to stay away, though. Even before you’re Involved, you don’t need to be told to stay away. There is an animal instinct at the base of your skull telling you that you wouldn’t ever come back.

He didn’t say anything. You’ve known this boy for a few weeks. He’d come in with bruises, cuts and at one time, some burns. Not so serious burns though. But you’ve always treated him. Everyone at the clinic knows he’s the boy who hands out the flyers around the corner.

Shifted - Part 6, Chapter 8

Every Tuesday I’ll be posting a chapter from my brand new AU story. The  premise is simple - what if Claire had gotten pregnant with Brianna a month or two earlier in the story, and she and Jamie had re-evaluated  their priorities and decided that the cause was lost, and they were able to slip away from the army and quietly return to Lallybroch?

Part 6 - The Honeymoon

Lallybroch, Summer 1763

Chapter 8

“Found anything?”

Claire squinted up at Jamie. “No, false alarm. Still looking.” She rose from her crouch by the stream, rubbing her back and stretching her arms. “I see you had better luck, though?”

A glistening string of trout hung from his hand, swaying gently. “We willna go hungry today, that’s for sure.”

He extended his free hand to Claire, and she took it gladly. “You want to stay another day, then?”

“Aye – there’s no rush to go back, Sassenach. The bairns and house can mind themselves for a wee bit.” He squeezed her fingers, squinting into the noon sun. “You and I – we need this time. Not that we don’t get time at home, but it’s different, now, ken?”

She stroked the back of his hand with her thumb. They’d been at the cottage two full days now – two languid, heavenly days. They hadn’t spent this much time alone together since the Rising.

Claire hadn’t realized just how much she needed this time with him. No children, chores, patients, nieces and nephews, servants, or tenants to distract them.

They’d talked and talked and talked. About small things, shared memories, hopes, and dreams. Making love whenever they felt like it – near the fire, on the settle, in the grass atop Jamie’s plaid. The same plaid he had proudly worn since they arrived.

He hadn’t worn a plaid daily since Brianna was born. Seeing him in his kilt and plaid, a string of fish in one hand, the sun lighting his hair from behind, she stepped back almost twenty years.

“It’s nice to have the quiet. As long as I’ve got you to share it with.” She turned to him, and he met her smile.

“Aye. Wi’ ye by my side, mo nighean donn, I know I can do anything.”

They’d reached the cottage – Claire held the door open for him and stayed in the doorframe, admiring how the back of his kilt gently swung back and forth in tandem with his bootsteps.

“We’ve a bit of bread from Mrs. Crook, no? That should go well wi’ the fish.” Jamie knelt before the fire, wakened the coals, and started skewering the fish to roast.

“Sounds lovely.” Claire shut the door and strode over to the small table, laying their two plates side by side and unwrapping the last hunk of bread from Lallybroch. Behind her the fish sizzled and popped over the fire.

She surveyed the small room. It had been the ultimate decadence to leave their bed unmade this morning – their pillow in the center, her spare shift askew at the foot, Jamie’s trews in a pool near the head. It looked like a bed shared by lovers – not a respectable married couple.

Claire softly smiled to herself as she sank into one chair and watched her husband cook their supper. Just being in the same room as him – sharing each other’s company, sharing the same space – was enough. He was enough.

“Didn’t you tell me once that fish were not an unprecedented wedding gift?”

He turned to her, grinning. “Aye. Yer memory of those three days seems a lot sharper now than it’s ever been, Sassenach.”

She returned his smile. “Now that I think of it, they were among some of the happiest days in my life.” She paused, thoughtful. “Tell me – what were the happiest days of your life, Jamie?”

He extended one hand for a plate and she gave it to him, watching him remove several charred fish from the grate over the fire. “Hmm. The days the bairns were born, to be sure. The day I received my pardon and knew I was back at Lallybroch for good. The day William put on his plaid by himself for the first time. The day Brianna punched that Chisholm lad in the mouth for insulting ye.” She grinned and switched the full plate for the empty one. He lay the last of the fish on that plate and rose to sit next to her.

“Aren’t you missing a few?”

He eased his chair closer to hers so that their thighs and knees touched. “Weel, there’s the obvious ones, then. The day we wed. The day ye chose me, that first time at the stones.” He kissed her cheek. “Do ye think it possible to realize ye’d had a good day only years afterward?”

She squeezed his bare knee and took a bite out of one fish. “Mmphmm. I think so. What do you have in mind?”

He tore a hunk of bread and lay the rest on her plate. “The day I met ye – when ye mended my shoulder and tended to the gunshot wound.”

“Why would that be happy, Jamie? You were hurt, I kept you from bleeding to death, you were an outlaw in the company of your hostile uncle.” He raised a brow, but she interrupted. “And don’t tell me some nonsense about how you were happy to be with me, because despite what you’ve told me there’s no way you fell in love with me the first time you saw me.”

He grinned. “Weel, I actually fell in love wi’ ye the day after I met ye – and I’d add that to the list. No – that day, Sassenach, was happy for me because the path of my life changed. Had it not been for ye tending to me at the castle, or being someone I could talk to – I dinna ken what other kinds of trouble I would have gotten into.”

She cast her eyes down to her plate, focusing on a pile of neatly stacked fish bones. “And you like where that path has taken you, then?”

He nudged her chin up and met her gaze. “It led me here, to this moment, with you. Aye, I do like where it’s taken me.” He kissed the tip of her nose. “Tell me – what are your happiest days?”

“Besides the ones you mentioned? Well – I could say the end of the War – the World War. But I was so numb to everything then that I wasn’t really happy because it was over, only because it meant I could go home. And – I suppose the day I chose you the second time at the stones. And if you were happy on the days the children were born – I was happy on the days I told you I was pregnant.”

Slowly, thoughtfully he turned his body and rested his forehead against hers. He grasped her hands tightly. “And the day at the abbey – in the spring – when ye told me about Faith. Claire, I – I canna tell ye how much that little bit of joy healed me, after – ” He swallowed.

“Shh. Don’t think about that, not now – please don’t think about that.” She gathered him close and pressed his face into her neck. “Come back. You’re here, with me. Wearing your bloody kilt for the whole world to see. And I’m eating your burned fish and letting you get my shift all wet with snot because I love you, you idiot.”

He laughed softly and raised his head to kiss her for a long while.

“Ye taste like fish,” he said some time later.

She butted her nose against his. “And whose fault is that, do you think?”

He kissed her cheek. “Thank ye for bringing me back, just now” he said softly. “I dinna think of it every day anymore, and ye ken I dinna dream of it as much as I used to. But it’s still – there – almost like I can touch it. And I dinna think it will ever go away.” He swallowed. “That’s another of my happiest days, Claire – the day ye used yer magic to save me at the abbey.”

She traced her thumb against the “C” she’d carved into his hand the previous day. His wounds had long ago healed – and daily exercises with his ball of rags had almost restored the hand and fingers to their full range of motion. She’d given him a small gift when they arrived at the cottage – a jar of cream she’d made herself, after hours of boiling down goose grease and camphor and other fragrant herbs, which she’d rubbed into his aching hand and fingers every morning and night since they’d arrived. He’d said it helped relax the muscles, easing the pain she knew he had lived with daily since the hand had been injured almost twenty years before.

“It wasn’t magic. Just a bit of acting, and opium. And determination, I suppose.”

“It was magic, Claire. To me.” He kissed her eyelids. “I want to tell ye something, and I dinna wish ye to think I’m daft.”

She rolled her eyes. “I’m worried already.”

He sighed. “I have thought so many times about all the things that happened right when we were first acquaint. How many wonderful and terrible things happened to us. And how many of those things in those first years were due to Randall.”

She squeezed his fingers. “Jamie – ”

“He ruined my life, and Jenny’s life, and your life. He is the reason my father is dead. He kept me from my home and family for years. He is the reason Faith is dead. He is the reason I have a crippled hand.” His voice was thick – and when she met his gaze, his eyes swam with tears. Overcome, she released his hand and cupped his cheeks.

“Jamie, stop. I know all this. Don’t bring him in here, between us now.”

He shook his head. “But Claire – had he not had me arrested and flogged and caused me to leave Scotland, I would have never been wi’ Dougal and the others when Murtagh found you, right after ye fell through the stones. He made the marks on my back, but it’s those marks that got me talking to ye right away – got me trusting ye and telling ye about the price on my heid. And I marrit ye to keep ye safe from him.”

He swallowed and breathed deeply. “And then - sometimes I wonder whether I ever would have had a chance wi’ you, if things had been different,” he said quietly. “I would have had much more to offer ye, had it no’ been for him. I would have had a chance to win your heart the proper way, by courting you over weeks and months. And giving ye the proper wedding ye deserved – no’ a ceremony held by a bribed priest, under the threat of violence from my uncle, and attended only by strangers.”

Her fingers trembled. She grazed his thumbs over his cheeks, wiping away the tears. “Jamie –”

His eyes, wild, met hers. “Claire – don’t ye understand? I never would ha’ met ye, never would ha’ married you, never would ha’ lived had it not been for him.”

She had no words. Silently she pulled back her chair and led him over to the bed, easing him to sit on the edge while she knelt before him.

Jamie’s eyes, unfocused, were far away. “So I canna truly hate him. Even though I should. Even though I forgave him long ago. He gave me the greatest gift I ever received – you, and our life together.”

She gently eased off his boots before standing before him. She undid her hair. She unbuttoned her shawl and flung it on the bed. She undid her stays and dropped them to the floor. She slipped out of her gown and tossed it behind her – all the while watching Jamie’s gaze.

When she was finally in her shift she saw him startle and look up questioningly to meet her eyes.

“Welcome back,” she said softly.

He gaped. “Christ. Claire. I -”

She eased toward him and sat astride his knees. “Are you here now, with me? Because if I have your attention, I have a few things to say to you.”

He nodded and placed a large hand on her thigh. He buried his nose in the valley between her breasts, breathing deeply.

She twined her fingers into his hair and held him close. “All of what you said may be true, Jamie. It’s remarkable how such small choices – such small events – have such incredible impacts on our lives. Like how if I hadn’t seen those forget-me-nots at Craigh Na Dun, I never would have touched the stone. Never would have found you.”

He inhaled and exhaled – big, deep breaths – and gripped her thigh tightly.

It had been years since they’d talked about this – years since he’d allowed himself to think about the cataclysmic events that had led him to her - that had tested them, torn them apart, but ultimately brought them back to each other, bound tighter than ever before. And as much as she wanted to stop, she knew that he had to get it all out. That she had to get it all out. And then maybe, just maybe, they could finally lay the ghosts to rest.

“But Jamie – had I not gone through the War, I never would have learned to be a nurse. Had I not been married to Frank, I never would have even been in Scotland – and never would have known what happened right after Culloden. So I never would have been able to save you, and Lallybroch.”

Slowly her hand found his – her J pressing directly into his C. She bent to whisper in his ear.

“Our marriage was hasty, yes. And I was reluctant, yes. But I was falling for you, Jamie. I knew from the moment we met that you were more thoughtful, considerate, gentle, and selfless than any man I’d ever known. Than I thought a man could ever be.”

He hummed against her breasts. She pushed his head closer to her body.

“You would never have needed to court me. You are all I’ve ever needed – not your home, not your estate, not anything material. You are enough. Will always be enough.” She licked her lips. “You are my true match. In every way. You understand me and respect me like nobody ever has. You love me, and make love to me, like no man ever has.”

His hand left hers and skimmed down her thigh to cup gently between her legs. She gasped.

“I would have found you,” she whispered, breathless. “I would have married you, and loved you, and bore your children, no matter the circumstances.”

His fingers began stroking her gently. He raised his eyes to meet hers, reveling in how her breathing was picking up.

“You are my true match, mo nighean donn. I love ye more than any man has ever loved a woman.”

Claire steeled herself, stood, and shrugged out of her shift. Jamie gaped. She cupped her heavy breasts in her hands, thumb circling her aching nipples. “Take me, Jamie,” she whispered. “Take what’s yours – what always has been yours, what always will be yours.”

He swallowed hard and rose to stand before her. Gently, quickly, she unbuckled his kilt and he whipped his shirt over his head. Finally naked, he seized her mouth in a deep kiss, picking her up effortlessly and easing her onto the bed.

She wrapped her legs around him and reached down to guide him inside of her. His hand stilled hers, though, and she whimpered.

She felt his wide, sweet smile against her lips. “Open yer eyes.”

She did, gasping. Blue met blue. “Eyes on me,” he whispered. “Always on me. Let me show ye what I canna find the words to say, Claire.”

He gently pushed deeper inside of her, and his soul touched hers, and they healed.

Ok guys here is my first how to spell. This candle spell is a protection/shield spell against a negative person in your life. THIS IS NOT A CURSE! Free will isn’t messed with in any way, it is meant to have the target’s own negativity bounce off of you and back to them. I also added in some herbs for a little oomph as well as to also help the target combat their own negativity.

⛤Any how let’s get started⛤
Materials needed:
-tin foil
-a white candle
-sage
-cinnamon
-rosemary
-oil of your choosing
-something to carve the candle with

The first thing to do is combine all of your herbs using a mortar and pestle of your own hands. Each herb I used I set my intention and charm the herb before mixing it with the rest.

Next I add the oil to kind of clump the herbs together to make it easier to spread on the candle.

After that it’s carving time. Carve the name of the negative person on your life into the white candle. Make sure you use their full name. As you are doing this think about how that person’s negativity will no longer affect you and how you simply won’t allow it ✋

After that is done put the candle on the tin foil and dress the candle with the chosen oil. Then do your best to rub your herbs into the name of the target and all over the candle. Whatever is left over, leave to wrap in the candle and do exactly that, roll it up in the tin foil.

You’re all done ☺ I have had success with this spell and I can say I feel good about using it (I personally do not use cursing in my practice, but I’m sure this spell could be tweaked to do so) Love and Light everyone!!

Simple renewal magick

Simple things can bring about cleansing or feelings of renewal. Witchcraft isn’t always about spells and fancy wordplay. These are things I do when I feel I need a change and want to remove some sort of negativity:

-change your hair part

-use your non-dominant hand for things like eating or brushing your teeth

-flip your mattress

-wear your clothes backwards for a day (silly, I know!)

-flip your pillow 13 times

-sleep on the opposite side of your bed

-tea face mask

-use an herb rub in the shower

-cut your hair

-cut your nails

easy-to-make d.i.y. magic positivity hand rub!

this is a witchy hand rub to draw positive energy to you and dispel your negative energy!

ingredients:

  • water
  • rosemary
  • thyme
  • lemon juice
  • bay (leaves or ground)
  • rice
  • turmeric
  • mint (leaves or ground)
  • honey (set or liquid)
  • butter/margarine
  • cinnamon (ground, not sticks)

steps:

  1. take half a teaspoonful of butter and put it into a mug.
  2. take a full teaspoon of honey and put it into the mug.
  3. fill the mug up to roughly a quarter with lukewarm water.
  4. use your fingers to mix the honey and butter with the water until it looks mostly mixed together (it’s okay if there are some small unmixed pieces of butter or honey).
  5. add the mint. if you are using mint leaves, add 2-3 torn up leaves. if you are using ground mint, shake the bottle twice into the mug.
  6. add a little more cinnamon than you do the rest of the herbs. this is to give the rub its distinct smell.
  7. add rosemary, shaking the bottle about four times.
  8. mix with a spoon.
  9. add one or two shakes of thyme.
  10. add just a pinch of turmeric (it has quite an overpowering scent).
  11. mix with a spoon.
  12. pour the contents of the mug into a bowl.
  13. wash your hands with the rub, making sure to wash the backs of your hands and between your fingers too.
  14. rinse your hands with warm water.
  15. dry your hands by shaking them rapidly! this is to shake away your negative energy.

and you’re done! your hands should smell nice and cinnamon-y and feel soft, as well as the fact that you are freed of your negativity! enjoy!

We Make the Kingdom - Pt.6

Pairing: Yongguk x OC
Genre: Fantasy, with Angst and Smut to come
Summary:  After a vampire attack leaves you almost dead, you are rescued by a group of werelions, powers long thought to be extinct. Upon discovering the same power flows in your blood, you join their fight against encroaching vampires and another, very human monster, to save the kingdom.
Previous parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Despite your accelerated healing, your body continues to ache at the end of each day of the following weeks. Jongup is a patient but persistent instructor, working you through drill after drill and never losing his temper when you make a mistake. They occur less and less frequently as the memory of the movements become embedded in your muscles, muscles that continue to  grow stronger.

The extra hours you practice, recruiting the lions who stay behind with you nightly as partners, aid your advancing abilities as well. It is obvious they hold back when they let you attempt to fight them, but hopefully soon they will have to put in some effort to hold you off. You are determined to match Jongup’s efforts with your own.

Yongguk’s teachings arms you with a mental arsenal of information. He continues giving you material limited to your vampiric foes, letting you evaluate it by yourself before reporting your conclusions to him. He listens, offering corrections as needed and prodding you to defend your positions with questions. Your discussions become spirited and enjoyable and variedas Yongguk opens to you. Beneath his almost placid exterior thrives an active, incredibly intelligent mind.

This discovery leads you to be even more intrigued with the alpha. Not only does he posses book knowledge of science and art and literature, but the often more difficult subjects of human nature and philosophy as well. Talking with Yongguk rekindles a insatiable thirst for learning in your heart, one he readily helps you try to fill.

He seems to enjoy your mental sparring as much as you, but you can sense he still holds some part of himself aloof from you. As many smiles as you’re able to coax from his lips, Yongguk never smiles with you the way he does the other lions. Sometimes you envy them and the obvious affection he holds for them, the ease and intimacy of their all belonging to each other. They are a pride and you are still an outlier: accepted but not yet into the inner circle. Whenever the feeling creeps into your skin, you brush it aside and throw yourself into your studies with renewed vigor. You will earn your place among them. Something so precious is not easily given.

Unfortunately, despite how well you are progressing in your other areas of study, fully shifting into your were-form still eludes you. You practice in secret with Junhong and in the privacy of one of the upper rooms when he hunts, wanting to surprise the others.

It was only a number of days before you could find it the instant you concentrate. The heartbeat of the lioness nestles in your chest like the steady purr of a well fed cat beside a fire. Waking your power proves another matter entirely.

Newt Scamander x reader- That Time Again

As soon as you got home, you ran into the bathroom and rummaged through every draw, unable to find what you were looking for. You were about to scream when you heard the front door open, making you immediately shut up.

“I’m home love!” you heard Newt yell to you. You tightly wrapped your arms around your stomach and tried to calm your nerves to suppress the pain, which really didn’t do much.

“Hey!” you yelled back, trying to not to show how much pain you were in. Newt being Newt, he of course could tell you were in immense pain right away. You heard him drop everything he was holding, even his case, and run to you. An extremely scared and worried expression crossed his face once he saw you clutching your stomach and bent over, looking pale. Newt didn’t give you the chance to say anything before he picked you up and carried you over to the couch, looking over your entire body to find the source of the pain.

“What’s wrong.” he demanded, trying to keep his composure, which he was doing an okay job at. He’s had to take care of his beasts and deal with them being in pain and did just fine, and they were his babies. But this was different, it was you, the love of his life.

“It’s nothing.” you whispered, trying to find the right position to make the pain go away. You were telling the truth, this was nothing major like Newt was thinking. This was something you’ve been dealing with since you were 13, but it still hurt like hell.

“Clearly.” Newt said back. You started swatting at him, trying to get him to stop. Him checking every crevice wasn’t helping with the pain at all, only giving you ideas. He can’t help with this kind of pain. Sometimes you hated being a women.

“What are you doing?” Newt asked, becoming annoyed by your constant swatting and you not letting him help.

“You can’t help me here babe.” you groaned, pushing your face into the couch cushion.

“I can and I will.” Newt stated, still looking.

“You can’t help me here.” you repeated in a more serious voice, glaring at him, which you knew you had no real reason to do. Newt stopped for a minute, a bit frightened by your sudden mood change, but his need and want to help you far exceeded his fear. He knew he would have to try a different approach to get you to let him help.

“What’s wrong?” he asked again in a more gentle tone, giving you a loving smile. You looked up at him and your resolve to hold back your pain in front of him cracked as soon as you saw his smile, one of your favorite things about him.

“It’s that time again.” you mumble softly.

“What?” Newt asked, unable to hear you.

“It’s that time again.” you said a bit louder, a heavy blush forming on your cheeks. Newt stared at you confused as your face just got redder and redder. It took him a while, but he eventually got what you were hinting at.

“Oh.” Newt said, a blush deeper than yours splashed across his face. Now that he got it, you wanted to run away. You never wanted to deal with this in front of Newt or have him help you deal with it, it’s so embarrassing.

“Right, be right back.” Newt said. You watched as he ran around the apartment, gathering random things and even went to his case.

You couldn’t help but get up and follow him down, wondering why he would need to go down there or you, a human. You slowly lowered yourself into the case and was automatically greeted by Dougal, who looked worried.

“I’m fine Dougal, don’t worry about me.” you tried to reassure him, but he didn’t move. Instead, he took your hand in his and led you over to a chair, gesturing for you to sit down.

“Thank you Dougal.” you smiled, placing a light kiss on his forehead. Dougal did the same to you before running off, probably to get Newt, and you were right. Dougal came back, dragging Newt right behind him.

“(F/N), why did you come down here? You should be in the apartment resting.” Newt said, slightly annoyed but more concerned at the fact you moved. He ran over to you and put a basket full of plants and herbs in front of you along with a glass of water.

“I didn’t want to be up there alone when your right down here, but you’re right. I should go back up.” you replied, able to tell that you annoyed him. You slowly began to stand until Newt gently pushed you back down into the chair.

“No, stay if you want. I prefer you here with me anyway.” Newt said with a smile, giving you a kiss before going back to the basket, rubbing herbs together and adding them to the water. Newt held up the glass and examined it before handing it to you.

“Drink this. You’ll feel much better.” he said. You examined the water yourself before drinking it. It had somehow turned into a dark green color and appeared chunkier than water should be. You looked at Newt confused and a bit concerned. He just nodded to you, gesturing for you to drink already. You took a deep breath and counted in your head before chugging the whole thing.

You felt it start to come back up as soon as it went down, but you were thankfully able to hold it down.

“What the hell was that!” you yelled at Newt, trying to find something to get the taste out of your mouth.

“Medicine. How do you feel?” he asked, taking the glass from you and giving you some clean water. You sat there for a minute, assessing yourself while drinking. The pain was mostly gone.

“Better. A lot better.” you laughed, feeling stupid for reacting how you did.

“Good.” Newt smiled, letting out a sigh of relief as he sat down next you. Newt wrapped his am around your waist and pulled you close with you cuddling into his chest.

“I’m sorry for yelling at you.” you apologized.

“It’s okay. I know that was hard to drink.” Newt said, kissing the top of your head.

“Do me a favor?” you asked Newt.

“Of course darling.” Newt replied.

“Get me pads? I know I’ asking a lot now considering how much trouble you went through for me but….” you trailed off. Newt pulled away and looked at you for minute before giving you a loving smile and a sweet and gentle kiss.

“Of course.” he smiled, getting up and heading out of the case.

“Hey Newt!” you called after him.

“Yes!?” he called back.

“I love you!” you yelled. You heard Newt run back and he peaked his head into the case.

“I love you too. More then you will ever know.” Newt smiled. You could feel your face heat up at his words. He was too sweet and kind. You noticed Newt blush too at the sight of you doing the same, which was adorable.

“I’ll be right back.” Newt said after you two spent a good few minutes just blushing and smiling at each other, something you actually did often.

You had no idea what you did to deserve such a sweet and caring guy, but you definitely had to do something for him later to thank him for everything he’s done.

Summer Recipes  Grilled Butterflied Leg of Lamb with Herb Rub

The flavour of this grilled butterflied leg of lamb is amazing. The overnight herb rub soaks into the meat, giving each bite notes of rosemary, garlic, oregano and mint. The fire of the grill chars the meat, producing a beautiful crust on the outside while cooking the meat perfectly on the inside.

Ingredients

• 4 lb. lamb leg, boneless, butterflied*, and trimmed of excess fat

Herb Rub:

• ¼ cup mustard
• ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
• ¼ cup chopped fresh oregano
• ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
• ¼ cup chopped fresh rosemary
• ¼ cup fresh chopped thyme
• 1 tablespoon kosher salt
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 2 cloves of garlic

Directions

• Lay lamb out flat on a tray. Puree all the herb rub ingredients in a food processor. (Alternatively, finely mince the herbs and garlic with a knife and then stir in the rest of the ingredients.) Spread the herb rub evenly over the lamb on both sides. Cover the lamb and put it in the refrigerator overnight.

• About one hour before grilling, take the lamb out of the refrigerator and let it sit on the counter.

• Heat up the grill. For a gas grill, turn all the burners to the high setting and allow it to heat for 15 minutes.

• Wipe off most of the herb rub from the lamb. Some should still be coating it, but just a thin layer. Turn the grill down to medium high and put the lamb, fat side down, on the grilling surface. Cover and grill for 3-4 minutes, or until well-seared. Then turn the lamb over and grill, covered, for about 8 minutes more. Check the temperature and grill for 2 minutes more if needed. For medium rare, the lamb should be 125-130°F. When done, let the lamb rest for 10 minutes and then slice.

* Recipe Note  — I usually buy a boneless leg of lamb and butterfly it myself. To butterfly the lamb, open it up to lay it flat and then make a few cuts into the thickest parts of the meat, stopping each cut at about the thickness that you wish the meat to be. Don’t cut too deep or all the way through. This will flatten out the meat some more so it will cook more evenly. Then trim away the excess fat and you’re ready for the herb rub.

#BackToSchoolWitchcraft - Day 3

Write a spell for restful sleep

What you’ll need:

  • A small pinch of lavender
  • A small pinch of chamomile
  • A tea light candle
  • A mortar and pestle - or any other way to crush/chop herbs
  • A sigil for sleep - very optional

How to do:

1) Take a very, very small amount of each herb and crush it as tiny as you can with a clockwise circular motion in your mortar and pestle/other method; visualising your intent - to give you a restful sleep. You want the mix of herbs to be an almost powder-ish texture.

2) Grab your tea light candle and take the two pieces apart - the foil and the wax. If you want to, this is also the part where you engrave the sigil onto your candle.

3) Place some of you mix of herbs - about half the amount - in the middle of the foil, and then place the wax back into its form, over the herbs. Try to make sure that the bottom of the candlewick is right over the mix.

4) Put the tip of your finger into the remaining herbs and then rub it into the top of the candle in a clockwise motion while stating your intent to yourself again Blow on the candle to seal it, and to remove loose herbs that might be a fire hazard.

Note: Keep your candle as close to your sleeping place as possible, without it being a potential danger. Light the candle when you go to bed, and let it be lit meanwhile you, for example, read a book or plan your upcoming day. Blow out the candle the very last thing you do before closing your eyes and falling asleep.

✨ Creativity and Focus Spell ✨

Estimated Time to Perform:
7-15 minutes (may vary depending on the witch)

Description:
A spell to bring creativity to the caster along with mental focus. This spell might drain your energy to fatigue if not grounded first. Remember: you can skip any steps you don’t find necessary to perform; this is your craft. Spell requested by @lonelydispute

What you’ll need:
• Any form of rose quartz and/or aventurine, and clear quartz (rose quartz and aventurine for creativity and clear quartz for focus and to increase all effects)
• A pink and/or lavender/purple candle (use both for an added boost towards creativity or just use one)
• A blue candle for focus
• A writing utensil and a piece of paper (lined)
A lighter, match, or something to light the candles
• Mint/Peppermint for focus (best when its odor is strong)

How to Perform:
Light all the candles you’re using for creativity. Now, hold the rose quartz, aventurine, and clear quartz in your hands (mostly in your dominant hand for projective energy, all if the crystals are small enough). While holding the gems, look into the flames of the candles. Imagine the flames as sparks of energy, bursting inside of you, bringing new ideas, new ways of thinking, and new inspiration into your life. Imagine what creativity means to you. Project your energy from yourself, through your gems, and out into the universe. Know that what you’re doing is bringing creativity, imagination, and new perspectives to you.

Meditate on your intentions with your gems, yourself, and the flames, now with your eyes closed (if they weren’t already). Feel the heat of the flames, visualize the flames, and see the flames bringing you your wish. Feel the rose quartz/aventurine of creativity with the clear quartz of amplification speaking to the universe; telling it the outcome of inspiration that you’re creating.

Blow out the candles you have lit, ending the first portion of this spell. Set the rose quartz/aventurine and clear quartz down, and light the blue candle. Put some of the mint you have into your non-dominant hand. This is to, only for the moment, collect energy into focus for the time being. Rub the herb, smell the mint, and transition yourself for the last portion of this spell: making you focused. When you’re ready, set the mint from your non-dominant hand aside and put new mint into your dominant hand.

Use your non-dominant hand to hold onto the clear quartz, using receptive energies with that arm. With your other hand, holding the mint, sprinkle it across the paper, letting it fall in the air. Imagine your attention, perceptive, and concentration skills increasing as the mint falls and meets the paper. Set the clear quartz atop the herbs and the paper, and use your dominant hand to further send out your intentions. Meditate on the aroma, the blue candle of the mind, and the air coming in and out of your body as you breathe. Visualize the sharpness of your mind and what you hope to get from your focus. After meditating for a while, set the herbs and clear quartz aside. Take your writing utensil and trace every line on the paper you have. Imagine that when you’re tracing these lines, you’re tracing out what you want your mind to be: Concentrated, focused, and perceptive. After doing so, take a moment to really send out there, through the clear quartz and the candle, your intentions. When you’re done, wrap up the spell, blow out the candle, and snap your mind out of the spell state.

part two to 'breakeven' please! It's so good <3

Finally after a long wait it’s here! Part 1 It’s pretty long but hopefully you enjoy it and if it’s still not how you guys want it to end then I can make a part 3!

3 months later

I was shopping at the near by super market near my apartment getting ready to make dinner for the night. I was trying a new steak recipe with asparagus and a wine sauce, and I was pretty excited for it. I was roaming the aisles with my shopping cart looking for a certain herb to rub on the steak. I wasn’t even looking where I was going until I rammed my cart into something that felt like another body. I gasped and quickly looked up apologizing numerous times and saying I’d even pay for their groceries. When the stranger looked up I soon realized it wasn’t just any stranger. I gulped as a smile grew on his face.

“Y/N? I haven’t seen you in forever.” He pulled me into a tight embrace that even carried me off the ground. Even if I was a little uncomfortable, it was still nice to be in the arms of one of my best friends.

“It’s nice to see you too Luke.” He put me down and continued to beam his bright blue eyes at me.

“You kind of abandoned me, Ashton and Michael after the uh…well the breakup.” He seemed a little nervous bringing up the breakup between Calum and I, but I shook my head letting him know that it was okay to talk about it. Overall it’s been almost 5 months since then, and I was still hurting not going to lie, but I know I needed to move forward.

“He said you made quite a mess back at him place. Costed him major in repairs and about 2 weeks to finally clean it all up with the help of us.” I put my head down embarrassed, but Luke grabbed my hand and ran a thumb over my knuckles, comforting me.

“Trust me, if I found out what he did like you did I would’ve done the same.” We laughed together and we met eyes as I stared back up at him. For a moment we stayed like that, taking in the moment, and I smiled even harder to myself. Luke was always so handsome to me, and out of all the boys besides Calum he was the one I was the closest with, and it hurt when I stopped talking to them all because I felt like I had nothing. However, Luke had Arzaylea, and I knew that he really liked her a lot despite all of the things she did to him and how they were really a true on and off couple. I snapped out of my gaze and pulled my hand away, looking back at the aisle for the season. Luke chuckled to himself and leaned against the wall of spices.

“Do you want to come with me to an interview session on Saturday? Well, half interview half jam session with the fans. First they interview us then we play a couple songs. It should be fun, and you should come with.”

“Luke I’m going to be the only one there without a boyfriend. I mean I’m going to be there with Ashton’s girlfriend, Michael’s girlfriend, Calum’s new girlfriend and your-“

“We actually uh…we broke up about a month ago.” I instantly thought to myself that Luke had been acting so close to me because of that, because he was now single and free and wasn’t tied down to whatever Arzaylea wanted. I looked back at the rack and picked up the herb I needed and through it in the cart before speaking.

“No Luke. I’m sorry. Nia would still be there, and I can’t face her just yet.” I turned to grab my cart and Luke blocked me from going anywhere.

“You have me there with you. I’ll make sure you’ll have a good time. Besides don’t you miss Ash and Michael? They both miss you just as much as I do. Just please…let me do this for you.” He stared intently in my eyes and I nodded my head, enchanted by him and how he could make me do anything he told me to do with one look in my eyes.

The day had finally come and I was nervously fiddling with my fingers in the passanger seat of Luke’s car. He could tell I was stressing so he laid a firm hand on my knee, rubbing circles with him pointer finger. I tensed up even more at his touch. I don’t know if I was falling for Luke or if his niceness was being mistaken as liking me, but whenever I was near him, or received a call or text from him, my whole body didn’t know how to react.

As we arrived at the studio for the interview, Luke had a firm hand behind my back guiding me, making sure I didn’t leave his side. When we walked into the room where the boys were being interviewed, Calum shot his head up from the couch, Nia beside him. The other boys stood up with their girlfriends also next to them and jumped over to me, tackling me with hugs and ‘we missed you’s. Calum stayed seated next to his new flame, a protective arm over her. But the whole time he couldn’t take his eyes off of me, even behind the glass when they were being interviewed.

Luke and I walked closely together as we moved to the next room for the jam session. They’d be played 4 songs, ‘She Looks So Perfect’, ‘She’s Kinda Hot’, ‘Amnesia’, and ‘Good Girls’. It would be an acoustic set which is new for me since I was never around to see them do one.

Calum still had his eyes on Luke and I and it wasn’t a nice look. Even during the interview I could see that Calum purposefully sat away from his best friend, and didn’t interact with him at all during it. Even now as they were setting up, I heard Calum tell Michael that he’d be sitting where Ash usually sits which is at the end, and it confused the whole band.

During ‘She Looks So Perfect’ Luke strummed his guitar and smiled in my direction towards the back right corner of the room. Nia stood in front of me, smiling huge at her lover and singing along. After the song ended, I was clapping for them along with the rest of the room and smiled big at Luke giving him a thumbs up for an amazing acoustic song. He chuckled and blushed while looking down. “Hey mate we’re trying to sing a set here.” Calum spoke as the room fell quiet. All of us pretty much had our mouths open at the rude tone coming from his mouth, and even Nia was confused as to why he was so angry all day. Luke cleared his throat and gripped his guitar before introducing the next song.

After their whole set and the fans were cleared out I ran up to Luke and gave him a big hug with him still sat on the stool. He beamed a smile at me and held my lower back.

“Thank you so much for coming, didn’t I tell you it’d be fun?” I laughed and continued to smile while nodding my head yes.

“Just wait out here for a minute I just need to put my guitar in it’s case in one of the back rooms and then maybe I can take you out for lunch?”

“Yeah that’d be great, I’ll just wait for you.”

I looked at my phone for the 5th time checking to see if the time was correct. It does not take 20 minutes for someone to put away a simple guitar. I decided to go to the back and find Luke to see what was taking him so long. There were many rooms in his building and all of them were closed except for one. I tip toed and tried to sneakily fit my head through the door, hearing Luke’s voice, but it sounded angry and loud.

“You dumped her for someone else Calum! Someone who isn’t even as great as she was! She’s not yours anymore. I know we promised we’d never date the other ones ex but you played her. She deserves someone better.” I saw that Calum had his fist up ready to sock Luke but John came out to stop it all.

“Boys enough! Before I kick you in the ass and cancel this upcoming tour because you know I can.” They both stopped and Luke stormed out of the room, seeing at outside.

“Oh…I uh, I was hoping you were still waiting on me in the main room.”

“I was but, I got uh worried.”

“Well everything’s ok now, we can go.” He tried to reach for my hand but I pulled away, going into the room with Calum in it.

“I have to take care of something first.”

I stormed into the room, Calum putting away his bass and it looked like his eyes were glossy, tears ready to escape his eyes.

“What is your problem Calum? You’ve been cold, rude, mean to your band mates and why? Because I’m starting to finally get on with my life after you fucked it up? Calum you broke me, you left me alone after leaving me for someone else and you know how bad that hurt?” I screamed at him as he tightened his grip on his case. All he did was look down, not giving me any emotion.

“Well I’ll tell you, it fucked me up real good. Why do you think I destroyed your apartment for God’s sake?”

“Oh yeah thanks for that by the way. It was a real shit to clean up.”

“Well you deserved it.” The room fell silent, and Calum wiped away the beginnings of his tears from his face. I laughed sadly and crossed my arms.

“Nia is outside, Calum. Be the boyfriend you were to her before I showed up here. And don’t give me some shitty speech about how you still love me and how you miss me because I won’t believe it. Luke makes me laugh, he makes me forget about being sad. And if something happens between us I won’t stop it. Live with it Calum. Because I’ve had to for almost 5 months.” I walked quickly back out of the room and grabbed Luke’s hand, before slamming the door of his car and into an awkward silence. I stared out the window still fuming from my argument with Calum. Everything was said and I wasn’t going to back out of my word. Maybe this change wouldn’t be so sad. Sure I’d still be around Calum and the girl he left me for, but at least I’d have someone there with me to remind me I’m worth something.

You mentioned you're autistic! Do you stim? If you do, do you incorporate it into your craft? ❤

I do stim! A lot! I don’t know if I incorporate it into my craft really, but I always stim on touching large quantities of herbs and rubbing/petting crystals and stones. Oh and I pet my plants a lot too 😂

Magical Properties of Herbs: Chives

Chives are a common household herb you buy at the grocery store and many households just have them around; its a perfect situation for some practical magic.

Properties

Medical uses: Used to combat the flu, cold, and lung congestion. Also considered an antiseptic.

Magical uses: Chives make a powerful addition to any spell for Protection, to chase away evil spirits, and for weight loss spells

Gender: Masculine

Planetary Association: Mars

Element: Fire

Zodiac Association: Scorpio

Plant these wonderful little herbs outside your window or inside your room as they’ll passively repel nightmares and evil spirits from your workings and magical tools. They are also great companion plants for vegetables and your flowers as they prevent brown spots on roses and repel insects.

A sachet recipe for protection using chives:

Basil
Cinnamon

The shell from garlic

Chives

Rosemary

Potato slice

dry the herbs separately and charge them with your will. To do this touch them and visualize your energies transferring and mixing with the raw power of the herb while focusing on protection, or what ever property of that herb you want to activate. lay them in the sun to charge as protection spells require masculine vibrations and the god of the sun is often evoked for protection spells.

You can grind them into a powder and spread them around your home or keep them whole in a satchet to be carried around with you. Rub the herbs and smell their fragrance when you want their protective powers to increase for a short time.

An Oil concoction recipe:

You can also simmer them in olive oil for 15 minutes to infuse the oil with their properties. Make sure it is olive oil as it has strong protective properties itself. Place them in a tincture and anoint your tools, clothes, and yourself to activate this protective spell.

Spell for Writing

Orange Peel (creativity and energy)

Fresh coffee grounds (more energy)

Dried Gardenia (hope and faith)

“Wizard’s Travel” herb blend (hey, same basic premise, right?)

Eggshell (birth/beginning)

One tea light

One desktop subwoofer

Crush the ingredients together, concentrating on the intent. I used a magnet ball as a pestle, to help pull in the intent.

Write what you want/need in the candle (I also drew a circle around the edge of the candle. Mostly because it felt like the right thing to do).

Crush the wax ribbons into the herb mixture, then rub some back into the candle, filling the carved words. Spread the rest of the mix around the edge of the candle. Safety says get it as close to the edge/as far away from the flame as possible. (If the mix is finely ground, it should just smolder if ignited, but let’s not take any chances)

Place on top of the subwoofer, put on your best writing music (NIN’s Ghosts, in my case), and light the candle.

And hopefully, write your motherfucking ass off. (I’ll let you know how it goes.)
