her parents are the best

6

The fact that Min Hyuk managed to notice in just few days what Gook Doo haven’t in 10 years speaks volumes about who of the two men actually really looks at Bong Soon. Particularly when he tells her she treats her friend like a boss and vice versa, he really hits the nail on the head because normally it’s the boss to whom she should be showing that demure and polite facade she reserves for GD. It’s her friend who should have realized all these things about her, not her boss.

Do Bong Soon is such an incredible girl and by some strange luck she’s inherited the best of her parents - her mother’s frankness and her father’s kindness which makes such a winning combination because she is adorably sassy, outspoken, quick-tempered, spontaneous and stubborn as hell. What makes her such an awesome heroine is that she is comfortable in her own skin; she accepts and likes her super strength even though she must hide it from people and it often brings her problems - it’s an inherent part of her and BS doesn’t want to lose it.

She might be hiding her power but never her real self, except when she is around GD because she wants to be the kind of woman she thinks he wants instead of the woman she really is. GD clearly cares for BS deeply and thinks of her as a friend, but there is a certain superficiality in the cavalier way he always treats her. In his mind her role is reduced to being his weak friend that needs his protection. The thing is that ironically, it was BS who made him see her that way because she’s been putting on an act for the past 10 years. It’s a little unfair because he didn’t get the chance to fall in love with the real her because she has never showed it to him.

Meanwhile, Min Hyuk has been falling in love with her attitude, charm and sassiness and while he admires her strength for what it is, it’s actually Bong Soon herself and her character that make him fall for her.

Coming out is scary just like battling You Know Who. But once you’ve done it, you can say you’ve faced Voldemort.

I’m hella potterhead since I was five years old so I chose Harry Potter to help me say that I’m hella gay too.

                                                              - October 31st, 1971 -

Lily couldn’t fall asleep, her eyes were still shining from all the beautiful things she has seen tonight. Her first wizard Halloween… She was going to remember it for years. A huge smile covered her face as she recreated, in secret, every minute of the night. The ghosts. The feast. The joy. The laugh. Tomorrow she’ll write it all to her parents. Finally, she drifted to sleep, exhaustion taking over even with her best attempts to fight it.

                                                              - October 31st, 1972 -

Lily was angry when she went to bed. Everything was ruined. Her favorite day of the year. Ruined. For some idiots’ amusement. Who could think that an explosion of pumpkin juice in the Great Hall was a good idea? Who? The Marauders of course. Potter of course. They earned their detention all right. Stupid boys and stupid Potter and stupid Potter’s comments about her needing to have fun for once. She would have had fun if not covered in pumpkin juice. Stupid Potter. Sleep took her as she cursed his name once more.

                                                              - October 31st, 1973 -

If Lily could have stayed in Hogsmeade forever she would have. This first trip to the small village had been almost as good as the first time her feet walked the Hogwarts’ ground. She first went to Honeydukes with Marlene who heard about it from her cousins and dreamed to go since she was five. The girls hadn’t been disappointed a bit. Then they simply walked through the streets of Hogsmeade and stopped at each shop that seemed interesting. Then Lily joined Severus at the Three Broomsticks. They talked for hours before moving back to the castle. It had been so simple but so great. Lily couldn’t wait for the next trip there. That night all the girls of the dormitory talked and talked about how great the place was while eating all the sweets they bought. The excitement slowly quieted down and the girls felt asleep one by one. Lily probably was the last one to but the last thought she remembered was how lucky she was to live in this amazing world, like the ones she had dreamed about when she was little. She was smiling when she fell asleep.

                                                              - October 31st, 1974 -

They didn’t exactly know how, but all the fourth years Gryffindors found themselves in the common room after the feast that night. They all get along well and they all loved Halloween so it seemed natural to continue their celebration. Even if it only involved some sweets from Honeydukes and tales of ridiculous but so funny stories. James was in the middle of telling one and he talked with his hands, all his body was animated. He was laughing before telling the good parts and his laugh was infectious. The boys were laughing at him and the girls were laughing fondly. Lily was somewhat mesmerized by the boy. She couldn’t look away from him, the way he really got into his story, the way his hands moved telling the story on their own way too, the way his eyes were bright, with laugh in them, the way his lips moved perfectly when he talked. Lily was in her own world for a moment and when she went to bed, she dreamed about his eyes and lips.

                                                              - October 31st, 1975 -

Lily wasn’t sure how the Marauders managed to bring butterbeer and firewhiskey back into the castle but she couldn’t care any less. The Gryffindors threw an after-feast Halloween party this year and she was having fun. She probably had drunk a little too much butterbeer but it was fifth year and she was a prefect and teachers already drowned them into homework. She could have a night off. Just one night off. She felt more than she saw James approached her. All right, Evans? And she swore she could hear his smirk in his voice. Peachy. And she giggled. And she saw James’ smirk turned into a real, bright smile. She was very warm suddenly and when she locked her eyes on his, she smiled back, all teeth.

                                                              - October 31st, 1976 -

The feast had ended and Lily was trying to make her cries unnoticed. Hiding in an empty classroom she was hoping nobody would come. But of course her wishes couldn’t be respected. Of course one James Potter would find her and come to her. She tried to wipe her tears but she reazlized that it was useless, he had already noticed she was crying. Never in her life she heard him speak with such a gentle and soft voice. Are you okay, Lily? Do you need anything? Please tell me how I can help you. He had settle down next to her and made an awkward attempt to confort her rubbing his thumb on her shoulder. She leaned her head on his shoulder, whispering through her tears that Severus Snape was a real idiot. He didn’t respond and she was glad. He just hugged her on the side and let her cry. They finally went back to the dormitories. Before climbing the stairs, Lily pressed her lips against his cheek, a silent thank you.

                                                              - October 31st, 1977 -

Her heart was racing and she couldn’t sleep. She still had butterflies in her stomach, she was both nervous and perfectly peaceful. The novelty of everything still affected her. She took a deep breath to calm her heart, she repositionned herself so she was in a more confortable position. The blanket was lift then and James joined her on the bed. She shifted, they were both on their side, looking at each other. James wore a small and calm smile and he was looking at her with such adoring eyes that all nervousness left Lily’s body. She leaned, still a bit unsure, and pecked his lips. James’ hand immediately cupped her cheek to keep her there a little longer and she sighed against his lips. Everything was still very new but everything was wompletely worth it. She opened her eyes when the kiss ended and smiled at James. He whispered a soft ‘goodnight Lily’, she rested her head on his chest and his hand found her waist. She never slept as well as that night.

                                                              - October 31st, 1978 -

Before Lily could fall asleep, James was knocking on her window. Of course she let him in. It was her last night in her childhood room. It was her last night in her house, her home, for she was to leave the next morning, finally beginning auror training. But she got used to sleep in James’ arms and she had missed it. When he showed up at her window, she opened it in hurry and kissed him immediately. She told him to be quiet, her parents were sleeping in the room next to hers. They just went to bed, side by side, legs tangled, holding hands, starring into each other’s eyes. They smiled as they drifted to sleep.

                                                              - October 31st, 1979 -

Lily didn’t fall asleep. She didn’t try to. She was waiting for James. She was waiting. She paced, looking at the clock every few minutes, worry only increasing with each of them passing. She cried too. Because she was afraid. Because she was tired. Because she just wanted to hold him in her arms, make sure he was okay and with her. He came back at 6 am the next day, looking more exhausted than Lily has ever seen him. She threw herself in his arms and tightened her embrace as much as she could. He ran a hand through her hair, softly murmuring words of reassurance. They fell into the sofa and spent a day there just hugging each other, glad to be okay.

                                                              - October 31st, 1980 -

Lily found sleep in a minute that night. It was cold and her blanket was warm. Her husband next to her was sleeping already when she went to bed. It was both his warmth and his soft snoring that drew her to sleep. She was asleep in a minute, fully aware that their little boy was going to wake them up in a few hours. Already far into torpor, she snuggled up to James, his arms instinctively wrapped aroung her and put her closer. She signed in contentment. Life was hard but life was also beautiful. She was happy.

                                                              - October 31st, 1981 -

She saw a green light that night and she didn’t exactly fall asleep. Lily just fell, like her husband before her.

I’m sick of making up excuses for why you don’t come to events with us.” Your mom sounded so exasperated over the phone, you could practically see her rubbing her temples. Your parents wanted you to come with them to your mom’s best friend’s holiday party around an hour away from your apartment, and you weren’t exactly feeling like going on your first free Saturday in a long time. Plus, the holidays were still three weeks away. Who has a party this early?

“Jake’s not going either!” Throwing your younger brother under the bus wasn’t a classy move, but you grasping at straws here.

“He has a tournament a state away. He can’t help that.”

“But Mom, I don’t think I have time to drive out there. I’m so busy,” you countered.

“You realize we share a Netflix account and that I can see that you’re forty-five minutes into a Black Mirror episode, right?” Shit, caught, you thought. You tried to think of any other excuse that could keep you firmly rooted to your couch for the rest of the weekend, but came up short.

Black history month day 25: American political scientist and diplomat Condoleezza Rice.

Condoleezza Rice was born in Birmingham Alabama on November 14, 1954. Her father was a guidance counselor and a minister and her mother was a music teacher. Her name derives from the music-related term con dolcezza meaning “with sweetness”.

Rice had an art-filled childhood. She began to learn French, music, figure skating, and ballet at the age of three. Her initial dream was to become a concert pianist. While she did not become a professional, she still plays with a chamber music group and once accompanied cellist Yo-Yo Ma in playing Johannes Brahms’ Violin Sonata in D Minor at Constitution Hall in April 2002 for the National Medal of Arts Awards.

Rice grew up in the segregated South, and her parents raised her with best education and resources possible so that she could stand against the discrimination of their culture. She grew up needing to be “twice as good” as nonminorities to gain the same respect. One of her friends and schoolmates was one of the girls killed in one of the infamous church bombings in Birmingham. Rice said later of that event: “ I remember the bombing of that Sunday School at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1963. I did not see it happen, but I heard it happen, and I felt it happen, just a few blocks away at my father’s church. It is a sound that I will never forget, that will forever reverberate in my ears. That bomb took the lives of four young girls, including my friend and playmate, Denise McNair. The crime was calculated to suck the hope out of young lives, bury their aspirations. But those fears were not propelled forward, those terrorists failed.”

While at the University of Denver, Rice changed her major from music to political science and graduated with honors. She then earned her Masters in political science from the University of Notre Dame.

Rice became the first African-American female to serve as Secretary of State, serving under President George W. Bush. She was only the second African-American Secretary of State after Colin Powell, and only the second female after Madeline Albright. She currently serves as a faculty member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a director of its Global Center for Business and the Economy.

The Platonic Pals Myth Debunked CANONICALLY

Ok, so bear with me here. I was talking with a Bellarke buddy this morning and realized that not everyone might have picked up on this.

She said she had been surprised by Jaha’s conversation with Bellamy and that it wasn’t something she had expected, particularly coming from Jaha specifically. She knew it seemed significant but it wasn’t until I pointed a few things out that she realized how truly significant it was.

So, WHY is it so significant that Jaha, of all people, recognises exactly what Clarke and Bellamy mean to each other and understands that the depth of their connection goes far beyond platonic pals and HOW does he seem to know that with such certainty?

Think about it.

What have we seen in flashbacks of Clarke and Jaha’s connection? Jaha has known Clarke as more or less a member of his family since she was tiny. Thanks to his connection as best friends with her parents and thanks to her connection as best friends with his son. He KNOWS Clarke. It may be something that she’d like to forget, but when you’ve been around someone for that long in both public and private situations, you don’t just unknow them. They were family for far longer than they’ve been on the outs. And it really hasn’t been all that long since all the chaos of him floating her dad and everything actually happened. I mean, sure, she’s changed and grown up a lot, but her strengths and her personality are really just more cemented than before. It’s not like she’d be unrecognizable to him from who she was before.

Anyway, the other important thing here is that he IS the father of her lifelong best friend. He KNOWS what a best friend relationship, what a platonic pal looks like on her. And he KNOWS it’s NOT what he sees between her and Bellamy. Even back to the first time he was introduced to them as a pair on his monitor when she was arguing on his behalf for Jaha to pardon him.

And in this scene, he’s quietly making it known that he, without a doubt, sees what they have and KNOWS that while she may not be ready or able to admit it verbally, Clarke is 100% NOT platonic in her devotion to Bellamy.

Bellamy is too busy thinking Jaha is utterly insane to realize the significance of what Jaha is saying. He misses the point entirely by being so focused on Clarke’s value to him and his need for her. But Jaha was trying very much to let him know that the need for each other goes both ways. And he’s someone who would know.

Guys, do you realize what this means?

THE WRITERS THEMSELVES, THROUGH JAHA, HAVE COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DEMOLISHED THE MYTH THAT CLARKE GRIFFIN AND BELLAMY BLAKE ARE SIMPLY PLATONIC PALS. THEY’RE EVEN BLOWING AWAY ALL THOUGHT THAT THEY’RE PLATONICALLY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER. THEY ARE SUBTLY BUT DEFINITIVELY SAYING, “You guys are right. You’ve been saying it all along and we’ve been lying to you and pretending to not know what you’re talking about, but it’s true. Clarke and Bellamy are as close to soul mates as you’ll ever find in this world or any other. In fact, their relationship is entirely based on Jason’s own relationship with his wife. That’s why he knows how to write soul mates so we’ll because that’s what his wife is for him. Surprise!”

What say you?

Here’s my reason for wanting Even to be the protagonist of season 4 :
- we need to see how parents deal with their child being mentally unwell. We’ve see how children react to their parents being unwell (Isak finds it hard to deal with and Magnus embraces it really well). I feel like it will help so many people out there to see the tables turned around, to see how parents can enhance your life if you just allow them to. We’ve not had the best parent-child relationship (Noora and her parents and Isak and his parents both have had their fair share of troubles) but Skam needs to show that parents are not villains, that there are kind loving parents out there who will do anything to keep their children safe (imagine if Even has two dads or two mums? Like how awesome would that be?).
- also do I even need to mention that we still don’t know barely anything about Even. That boy has so many layers to him (get it… okay I’ll shut up). I still have a million questions that I need answers to and having it from Evens point of view would make things so much sweeter.
-and just to add to the mix… more Evak. Need I say more?

why have manchild!tony trope,,,,,, when you could give me an ‘in the zone’ tony striding through his home with a phone nestled between his shoulder and ear to hold negotiations with the un about the accords while simultaneously looking through some of the paperwork he needs to sign for stark industries, and still making sure hes got enough time to help kamala and peter and harley with their homework and any other issues they might be having (and doing good at all of it too, not just the un and business stuff but also looking after his kids because fuck what the ex-vengers might think and fuck what the media will say, tony would die for them and will always do everything he can to look after them and make sure theyre happy while with him because he’ll never allow himself to make the same mistakes howard did)

instead of manchild!tony you should totally give me competent, team parent, BAMF!tony stark instead

Explain to me why Snow White and Prince Charming wouldn’t raise their child to be a fighter, when they spent so much of their life running and fighting the Evil Queen.

Explain to me why we got an AU showing Hook as a shy deckhand, and still rose up to protect Emma, and not have Emma stand up for her parents in her AU.

Explain to me why Regina thought the best way to jog Emma’s memory was by murdering her parents in front of her, and causing her more pain.

Explain to me why Emma thanked her for that! In what universe is it okay to kill someone’s parents in front of them? In what universe is it better for Emma to grow up unloved and alone?

Now let’s point out how Emma’s way to jog Hook’s memory in season’s 4 AU was to try to remind himself who he is. Let’s also point out that Killian would have done the same for her in this case.

Killian should have been the one to go after her 1000000% I don’t even care anymore. I’m all for the characters shifting focus. But in an episode like this, that was supposed to be about Emma.. I’m so mad.

can someone please give me a plot where muse a is a young college student in a small town who just so happens to work at the local coffee shop all the while trying to be the best parent to her baby girl and oh yeah theres also this boy/girl who keeps coming into her shop after class and occupying her daughter while she gets her job done and when she asks how she can repay muse b they just push her money aside saying ‘let me take you out on a date instead.’

Beautifully Broken

An anon requested a one shot based on Sparks Fly by Taylor Swift. I have no idea what you had in mind, but I hope this suffices. I listened to the song too many times to count, believe me. I was trying to get a feel for the song, but I’m a bit iffy on this one. I had so many thoughts running though my head, but when I sat down to write, my mind went blank. Anyways, I hope you like it.

Trigger warning: toxic/abusive relationship and mention of cancer.

Riley was finally feeling like herself again after getting out of a toxic relationship. She had spent her summer vacation in California with her Aunt Morgan. It didn’t take a lot of convincing. Her parents, everyone really, thought it was the best thing for her; and it was. Now, her smiles reached her eyes, her laughs were real, and she was her bubbly self again.

Babygate 2.0.

I’m just so… sad. Obviously for Liam, my goodness, free him too please, but also about the whole story this farce is telling. 1D’s narrative really is awfully ancient when it comes to women.

I’m sure Cheryl is pregnant, I don’t know how, but I do think it’s a solo project. I just wish that instead of again using an innocent child as a marketing device, painting the story of how a mother sacrifices everything for the child and the dad is less-than-interested and being the breadwinner, this would’ve actually been such an excellent possibility to show how having a child does in fact mature and change you in incredible ways, how having a child on an older age because you are ready and fit to be a mother is ok, how having one parent who loves and cares and protects you is often better than having a set of straight parents just because. If Cheryl wasn’t so calculative about all of this, her pregnancy could’ve been such a good thing and not just for her.

Imagine the Goldstein sisters when they were kids

·Tina being the most independent baby in the world and her parents being impressed by how fast she learns to walk and talk
·she was one of those kids that play in their bedroom jumping and climbing every piece of furniture
·the first time her parents tell her that she’s going to have a sibling she gets quite excited
·but then she gets a bit disappointed when she sees that Queenie is just a baby that can’t run and jump
·until she takes her in her arms and lil’ baby Queenie laughs in a way melts her sister’s heart from that day to the rest of their lives
·while growing up Queenie was very quiet while playing with her dolls
·but Teenie always asked her to be her sidekick in her games
·her sis agreed to do it bc Tina promised her to give her chocolate and candy
·Queenie falling from a tree while playing and starting to cry and Tina getting very nervous bc her parents asked her to look after her sister
·Teenie being the best older sister and remembering the spell her father used to cure the little wounds she had had every time she’d fallen while running
·then Tina plays with her with her dolls even if she doesn’t want to bc otherwise Queenie will tell her parents about the incident
·Queenie getting sad bc the week before she cut her doll’s hair and it won’t grow back
·Tina making a spell to make it grow longer and then using a simple spell so al of Queenie’s toys dance
·the big sister getting very happy by seeing her sister’s wide smile
·Queenie learning from a very young age how to use her legerimens powers and Tina playing with her asking “what animal am I thinking about Queenie?” “and what about now?”
·Tina being able to surprise her thinking about silly animals she would imagine
·Queenie spilling her milk through her nose bc her sis made her laugh
·Tina laughing even louder bc of that and their parents looking at them with a big smile in their faces because they are such beautiful children, a blessing
·the Goldstein family walking around Central Park, buying ice creams
·Tina running all over the place and her chocolate ice cream melting on her hand
·Queenie holding firmly to her mom’s hand licking her strawberry ice cream in the cutest way
·and then like every night they would get into their bunk beds and their parents would read them The tales of Beedle the Bard
·Queenie waking up her sister in the middle of the night bc she had a nightmare
·Tina letting her get into her bed and little Queenie sleeping calmly and happy

Loyalties- Alexander Hamilton X Reader

Hi! Could you do a fan fiction where the reader is supposed to be engaged to Samuel Seabury because her parents think it’s best for the reader (the parents are loyalists) but the reader has different beliefs so the reader’s parents send the reader out to one of Samuel’s declarations, which is Farmer Refuted, and the reader sees Alexander interject and becomes interested and falls in love with Alexander? Only if you want too though! from anon

“You can’t make me believe in some asshole king!” I yelled and my mother gave me a look that silenced me at once.

“We did not raise you to behave that way with such foul language towards our King.”

“Right. You raised me to have my own beliefs and you can’t accept the fact that my beliefs aren’t yours. They are mine and the Revolution is coming so just you wait!” I yelled back.

“Enough!” My father yelled and I looked at him, seething. “Samuel Seabury is a perfectly wonderful man! He has all the right values and he can fix yours.”

“My values don’t need fixing.”

“I won’t argue about this. Your fiancé is holding a declaration in the town square this afternoon. Why don’t you put on your best dress and go show your support?” My mother suggested and I rolled my eyes.

“Fine. Maybe there will be some revolutionaries there.” I added before running upstairs and changing into a simple dress- definetly not my best dress and I left without another word from my parents and I walked to the square, seeing people actually listening to his points.

I attempted to drone out most of the speech when I heard someone interject and I focused immediately, spotting the man in the soldiers uniform. Samuel simply turned away from him, smiling at me weakly. I gave him a fake encouraging smile and the man in the soldiers uniform caught my eye and he smiled at me and I felt my lips curl up into a smile as I looked at him, impressed.

“For shame!” Samuel cried and the other man scoffed.

“For the Revolution!” He yelled and Samuel repeated himself desperately. The next time the man cried ‘For the Revolution!’ The crowd joined along but I kept my mouth shut, knowing that Samuel was watching my every move intently.

Even worse, I knew he was going to report back to my parents.

I tried to not listen to the rest of the debate but I felt someone grab the sleeve of my dress and I looked up to see the man.

“Who are you?” I asked him and he quickly pressed a kiss to my hand.

“Alexander Hamilton. And you?”

“Y/N L/N.”

“Would it be alright if I wrote you?”

“I would love nothing more. Now go, the British soldiers are here and I have no doubt they will shoot you on sight.” I told him and he nodded, flashing me a smile before disappearing into the crowd.
I felt this sensation start in my chest- like my heart was fluttering.

He has got me helpless…

I waited two weeks, pretending to love Samuel and when I got my first letter from Alexander, I practically kissed him.

I didn’t.

I opened it up in private, eager to read it.

'My dearest, Y/N

I hope that this letter finds you soon for I have so much to talk to you about. Since we have first met, I must admit that I was pondering over your loyalties and whether they were to the Revolution or if you were a Loyalist, like your entire family before you is. I have come to the conclusion that I do think that you are a Revolutionist, trapped in perhaps the most awful of situations.

I would just like to inform you that you are not alone. You have me and my friends and if you need us to rescue you from- might I say- that hellhole, we will take the mission with stride and do whatever nessecary to get you away from them. As for your fiancé, he presents a whole new set of problems.

I must say I never quite thought I would be jealous of someone named Samuel Seabury but life does have ways of surprising us.

Although I do think by judging your reaction to my kiss on your hand that perhaps I am not alone in my affections.

If you do truly want to meet up, I will be waiting at the bar near the square.

I will be there all night in seven days- which should be the time this letter reaches you and if I don’t see you, then I know how I stand.

Yrs. Truly, A. Ham’

I closed the letter hastily and I hid it under my mattress. Practically running to get a pair of shoes on, I headed to the front door, not caring if the whole world heard me slam it as I ran to the bar near the town square.

I opened the door and I saw Alexander surrounded by his friends, all of which were in matching soldier uniforms.

I walked towards him and he turned around slightly, doing a double take when he saw me.

“You came.” He grinned and he rushed over to me, picking me up and twirling me around before kissing me.

He was very forward, wasn’t he?

I felt my heartbeat accelerate and I kissed him back, feeling a sense of freedom.

“I can’t just let the first man I actually care for leave my life, can I?”
