her and alex are just too much to handle

Give Me Polyamorous Power Couple Hamliza Or Give Me Death

~Eliza growing up having constant crushes on both men and women and trying to articulate what she wanted to Angelica but never being able to explain it the way she wanted

~When she’s in a relationship: “I want her” “But you’re dating Peter” “I want him too” “But you have to choose” “Why do I have to choose?” When she’s not in a relationship: “Ooh, Liza’s got a crush! Spill it!” “Well, there’s Arthur and his girlfriend, and Sally and her girlfriend, and Jason, and Mary…” “Whoa whoa whoa, slow down, how many crushes can you have?” “Shush, I’m not done”

~When she meets Alexander and quickly falls into her most serious relationship ever she expects the multiple crush thing to stop (Spoiler alert: it doesn’t)

~Eliza feels like a horrible girlfriend because she’s so happy with Alex but then Susan from work will start up a conversation with her in the break room and she’s instantly all heart eyes

~Tearfully she admits it to Alex one night and he’s thrilled because “no there’s nothing wrong with you I promise!!!! You’re just polyamorous!!!!”

~They spend the rest of the night talking about it

~Eliza needs some time to adjust since she’s spent so much time trying to push it aside that she doesn’t really know what else to do but Alex is very helpful

~The first time she tells him about Susan he’s instantly chanting ask her out over and over until she’s laughing and blushing at his antics

~Half a year later and Eliza is subtly sending Alex updates from her dates while he sends her multiple thumbs up emojis and does the same with his own

~She also sets up him and Angelica and when Angelica gets confused about it she’s like you need to stop sacrificing yourself, let yourself be happy

~They share embarrassing stories about him with each other

~He meets John and them after Eliza in this one and it’s all separately

~Hercules comes first because Eliza’s father invited them to a fancy dinner party and Alex needs a suit and since he’s not well educated on these things yet she comes along to help

~Hercules is instantly smitten with Alex and Alex is instantly 😍 because “Eliza look at him!!! He looks like a damn quarterback but he’s so sweet and gentle!!!!” “Either you ask him out or I will”

~Hercules not-so-subtly likes guiding Alex around even though he thinks he’s being smooth

~“Alex there was really no point for him to put his hands on your waist like that, he could’ve told you to just move to the side one step” “… Yeah but did you see how well they fit there he could probably lift me up so easily” “Wow you’re so easy” “Do I need to bring up that cute barista the other day” “pLEASE DO WE HAVE A DATE THIS WEEKEND”

~By the end of the time there Alex is going out to lunch with a pleased but confused Hercules and Eliza is eagerly awaiting every cute picture and text

~From then on he has to deal with both Eliza and Alex stealing his clothes but he can’t really fight since they both look so cute in his sweaters

~The rest come really quickly after that

~Lafayette meets Hercules before the others because they come in requesting a special dress to be made and Hercules is Gone

~“You… You want a dress with a full skirt… But when you pick at a stitch on it the dress falls down into a ball gown?” “Yes, exactly!” “Can I ask why?” “Why? Well, chéri, it’s because I must ensure that I always am prepared for any eventuality and at the top of that list is a need to always look beautiful but entirely unattainable. Oh, that reminds me! It needs to be floor length with my being in eight-inch heels, I have a pair with me so you can measure accurately” “Oh holy shit”

~It takes them exactly one weekend to be brought into the relationship (Alex sees them and instantly is stunned into silence, Eliza flirts and within two minutes they’re already co-conspirators)

~John is next and he struggles with his sexuality and anything that comes from it so he’s very much in the closet when they meet

~John and Alex immediately are best friends and Alex tries asking him out but John very quickly refuses him and Alex takes a step back

~The combined power of the four of them helps to bring John out of his shell even though he’s very shy about it all so they’re respectful and let him suggest everything and move their relationship forward in his own time

~The first time he asks to spend the night with all of them there’s a little fight over who gets to sleep next to him

~Eliza and Hercules win, Lafayette and Alex pout

~Aaron and Theodosia Burr AKA Theo, Eliza, and Lafayette kill and the rest of them are literally powerless against them

~Dates are really fun with them because now there’s enough people to go on group dates and everyone can have a supposed other instead of it being just the mess of them (They still do it as the whole of them, its just more fun to have the people think they’re all separate couples then watch as they get more affectionate as the night goes on)

~Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the Washingtons

~George favors Alex and Laf, Martha favors Eliza, Angelica, and Theo, George is platonic with John, Hercules, Aaron, and the girls, Martha is platonic with everyone but her girls and sometimes Alex and Lafayette (She likes showing off that she’s perfectly capable of stealing them away from him but is graciously letting them stay with him. George jokes back and tries to rally Laf and Alex to joke too but they need time to come back to that plane of existence)

~Eliza and Alex get so many kisses and cuddles since they’re the heart of it all

~Alex dragging everyone outside to look at the stars

~Lots of hot chocolate when Alex drags them outside

~Lots of spiked hot chocolate when they think Martha isn’t looking

~She totally knows since John keeps giggling but she let’s them have fun

~Eliza starts flirting with him to bug Alex

~Eventually she starts flirting with him for Alex no matter what he says

~“Look at the tension good god” “Betsey I swear…”

~Eliza has a near constant stream of frustrated texts from George

~“Eliza I’m suffering” “What is it this time, dear?” “They’re arguing again and they look two seconds away from making out” “I’m working on it. Have patience” “I can’t have patience anymore I can’t have meetings because this happens in every one”

~All the hate sex

~All the Jeffmads+Alex hate sex (I would include Aaron but the frustrations are over Washington but Aaron knows why Alex is favored by him and has worked out his own balance with George so he’s not jealous)

~Alex pulls them into the dynamic and they finally understand

~George doesn’t mind them finding out, he’s just glad the tension is gone (Though he has cut more than a few work days short because he walked in on them fucking on his desk because Alex wanted to tease him and he can’t handle that so he just walks out)

~There’s multiple incidents where they try to tease Angelica but she is Not Having It and takes great joy in showing them why

~Angelica Schuyler is my queen she wouldn’t handle any bullshit from them

~Elizabeth “If you touch one hair on my girl’s head I will personally kick your ass from here to California don’t test me” Schuyler

~Obviously she moves in with them immediately and spends every night sleeping between Alex and Eliza

~When things become too much in the city Eliza and her take a trip down to Mount Vernon for a girls-only retreat

~Maria and John never start a romantic relationship but they hit it off very quickly since they’re both abuse survivors (Her with James, him with his father) and John is more healed than she is but there’s wounds he’s still licking and sometimes its nice to just spend the day in silence with someone who understands that company is more important than conversation

~Eliza and Alex creating a crazy huge family for themselves which has confusing interconnecting romantic and platonic relationships but they love it so much they can’t describe it

~Whenever anyone asks about it Alex shows them the graph he’s made for them all

~Everyone has a specific color and one poor soul asks why he chose those colors and spends the next 45 minutes listening to him talking about why each of his signifs was given that very color choice

Kara and Alex go to the aquarium. There's this part of the building where one can walk under where they keep some of the more brightly colored fish or maybe fluorescent jellyfish and it's just a little awe-inspiring. Kara loves it. They have a special membership bc they're donators and they like going on quiet days where there aren't any crowds and they can just relax and quietly look at the fish. When they get tired of walking they sit in the auditorium and share popcorn while watching the film

i’m a sucker for a good danvers sisters prompt. take a k and a half of mild angst, with a heavy side of comfort. enjoy!

it starts with kara missing out on brunch. a last minute text sent so strategically that it’s only received after alex and maggie are sitting with  james and winn, browsing the menu. and the text is casual, it’s worded so as to not alarm anyone. but this is kara, and this is brunch and if there’s one thing kara loves, it’s food. especially brunch food.

so alex shows the text to maggie and maggie squeezes alex’s thigh and kisses her cheek and says “go, danvers.”

and alex’s heart soars because how did she find someone so perfect? not to mention how lucky she is for having friends that welcomed maggie practically at once into their superfamily. it makes the walk over to kara’s apartment light and with the freedom from worrying about her girlfriend with their friends, alex can focus on kara.

This might be true, yes. But that’s the point of the story tbh. We can all be selfish and seriously, if you have not yet felt so angry and sad to the point of badly wanting to get back to the people who hurt you and put you through so many horrible and emotionally and mentally destructive things, then wow. But hey i’m not saying you should do it. get revenge?Kill yourself?

I think most people miss another one of the points the story’s trying to make, or reach people with. This is not just about showing how your words and little actions can affect to some people to the point of killing themselves. This is also about people like hannah. Her “revenge” did worse things to the people on the tapes, guilt, fear, regret and soooo much more, and if that’s what her goal was then she succeeded, but that’s not all, her parents were hurting, not knowing why, or where did they go wrong? Now, is this what she wants? Maybe not. The show ended with implying that alex committed suicide, and maybe justin too, and tyler planning something not nice at all, probably school shooting, idk? Is this what she wants? Maybe not too. The show is trying to help suicidal people not only by stopping other people from doing horrible things to a person but also showing those who still has suicide thoughts how they would change everything in a bad way. That they matter and if one person didn’t care, that does not mean there won’t be anyone who’ll ccare. im sure their parents would be soooooo sooo glad if they just sit down and tell them everything. It’s hard but it will be worth it. And right now there are helplines, if telling their parents is out of question because of personal issues and things i dont really know, then helplines would help.

Hannah had been selfish, and so are we. Hannah made bad decisions and so do we. Hannah wanted revenge, and sometimes we want that to.

Maybe for you hannah’s reason is not enough to put her parents thru that much but for hannah its all already too much to handle to the point of not caring about anyone at all. She said it. She doesn’t care about everything aanymore.
Maybe 1 mile run is bearable for you but for some people half a mile is already too much.

Okay, but Eliza neglected Alex. Did she mean to? No. Was she trying to hurt her? No. Is that still child abuse? God yes. Alex could never be good enough, could never do anything right. Alex flat out said that Eliza blamed her for Kara not dating enough. What kind of bullshit is that?? I'm not saying that Eliza is a bad person, but she put way too much on Alex's shoulders at way too young an age. She neglected her and emotionally abused her, whether or not she meant to.

wait i dont even remember, when did eliza say something to alex about kara dating? and like. for all intents and purposes, kara was v much a special needs child and eliza is a single parent, and alex is her older sister–and i think this post describes it p well. This isn’t katherine grant, who’s just straight out mean to cat and won’t even give her a hug. this is a woman dealing with a kid who, if not handled correctly, could very easily kill them if she loses control of her powers–and we all know how cruel children and teenagers can be. Eliza can’t be everywhere, and she’s doing it all on her own–so yeah, she over relies on Alex because it’s not even just ‘your sister needs you to function’ it’s ‘your sister needs you to make sure she doesnt accidentally kill anyone.’ There’s been a lot of talk about kara having SPD, if u want it i can try and dig it up–that was from last season.

and i’m not a sibling to someone with special needs, i can’t talk about that experience but i’ve definitely heard stories from people i know about being given a lot more responsibilities and dedicating a lot more of their time to helping their siblings than maybe joining that extracurricular or going abroad or going to a school even 10 minutes further away

and yeah, eliza talks about being less harsh on kara, because really kara just lost everyone, and then was dumped on the danvers really by her only remaining relative. eliza says it like she’s a girl from another planet who just lost everything–who can also very easily leave and never come back if she wanted, or felt like she was trapped.

and instantly when finding out that this is how alex feels she apologizes, adjusting her behavior once she found out how alex was feeling, and we see that not just in the thanksgiving episode but when alex and j’onn visit midvale and in the next thanksgiving episode. and alex not doing anything right part–alex could do something right. eliza told winn how proud she was of alex for working in the same field as her

and also like. we all know just how much alex bottles up her feelings. the fact that eliza doesnt question alex’s feelings or make her second guess anything and yes changes both her behavior towards both alex and kara makes me think that this is a pretty new conversation topic, at least since jeremiah died. because anyone who’s an older sibling will say, it’s an adjustment to having a younger sibling, especially one who’s an alien refugee. And Clark literally just dropped kara off on their doorstep, it’s not like they had much time to prepare.

that’s not saying eliza didn’t make mistakes. but one child needed help with everything and eliza was just one person, and also grieving for her husband and constantly looking over her shoulder to see when the next person in a suit would show up, because the only reason why they left kara alone was because jeremiah was working for them–and he’s not anymore. this isn’t a simple case of ‘oh i have 2 children and one of them i like better’

also there has been some research into what siblings of children with special needs experience that are almost universal, and a documentary filmmaker named Rachel Feighter interviewed a bunch of siblings in a documentary “Not Typical” some common experiences she found were

Feeling like they need to be perfect. Siblings of individuals with special needs know how hard their parents work to ensure all of their sibling’s needs are met, and often see their parents struggle to meet these needs. Many feel like they can’t make mistakes because that would add to their parents’ burden, so they believe they must be perfect at all times. This is an impossible standard to meet, and can lead to stress and feelings of inadequacy. One girl said she felt like she “had to be Ms. Perfect and not have any problems for [her] parents to deal with.” Another said that she felt as though she could never be “enough.”

Feeling like they can’t express their feelings. Most typically developing children love their sibling with special needs. Yet they may also resent how much of their parents’ time is taken up by caring for their sibling or feel embarrassed about their sibling’s behavior. One girl said she “was never allowed to mourn openly or to be mad or sad about [her] brother” and another said her friends thought she was being mean if she said anything bad about her sister, even though friends with typically developing siblings often complain.

Having a different idea of family and home. For most children the concept of family is based in togetherness. But when a sibling has special needs, family quality time may look different. One girl recalled that her mother was “assigned” to her sister with special needs and her father was “assigned” to her. The family often spent time apart, especially when it involved leaving the house.

Feeling as though their problems are minimized. Sometimes a sibling with special needs has complex and even life-threatening problems. An issue faced by a typically developing sibling, whether it is a problem with a friend or an academic struggle, may seem small compared to having limited mobility, learning difficulties or sensory issues that require intensive care or prevent a child from attending the neighborhood school. One girl said her parents rarely dealt with her problems, instead telling her to be “strong.”

Feeling isolated. Typically developing siblings may be lonely because they don’t have peers who have siblings with special needs. So they feel different when their friends ask “what’s wrong with your sister?” Some children also feel self-conscious about their sibling with special needs, and aren’t sure when or how to tell their friends about him.

Dealing with intolerance early and often. Children learn early that there is not universal acceptance for individuals with special needs, and that their sibling is not welcome everywhere that typically developing children are. This can be deeply disappointing to typically developing children who want to have shared experiences with their sibling. They regularly encounter individuals who refuse to move from seats designated for individuals with disabilities, and those who make unkind comments about other accommodations their sister needs. These early lessons in intolerance, and even hate, can affect their world view and make them cynical or resentful of the limitations placed on their sibling and themselves as a result.

Feeling like they are asked to help too much. Some typically developing children are expected to help care for their sibling with special needs from a young age, even if that sibling is older. One girl said that she felt like the “attention police” at home since her mother was constantly telling her that she had to pay attention to her sibling with special needs. Many are told early on that they will be expected to care for their sibling when their parents are no longer able to do so. This puts enormous pressure on them.

Feeling like they must grow up quickly. Because of the sum of their experiences, from feeling as though they are on their own to handle their problems to feeling pressure to be perfect to being given responsibility for their brother or sister, some siblings of children with special needs feel as though they are forced to grow up too quickly.”

Most typically developing children love their siblings with special needs beyond measure and are close to them. But to better understand and support them, it’s important to acknowledge their struggles. There is a need for more information about the experience of growing up with a sibling with special needs. While there are a few places the stories of these siblings are told, such as the fictional book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, hearing from the siblings themselves in “Not Typical” will help many feel less alone and better understood.

i know that was long, but tell me–does that sound like alex danvers to you? These are not quite universal experiences but apparently pretty damn common. And this is all as a newly single mother, taking care of a deeply traumatized alien. Considering how quickly Eliza changed her behavior once she found out how Alex truly felt, I genuinely think that Eliza didn’t realize how hurt Alex was feeling.

I'm upset that they rushed all the important stuff into the last few minutes while there was 1.5 hours about Addison and the ships getting together. They had 7 seasons for the shipservice, why'd they wait till the last episode? The sad part is, the idea for the mystery part was actually so good, but it was handled badly (except Troian). If they'd paced the episodes better so the climax and resolution weren't squashed into 15 minutes of a 2 hour event, i think it would've been much better

I agree. The story is fine. If I wrote it I’d make it so that Alex was Red Coat and Black Widow too, and CeCe lied about Sara Harvey so that she can protect her sister’s identity. But other than that, it really was a great overall story. Especially Wren and the link to London. It’s honestly great. Just terriblyyyyyy executed.

Imagine dating Alex and he's got this attitude and he's looking all badass but when he sees you he instantly smiles. And one day when some guy is cheking you out he gives him the look and says "What are you looking at?" And makes a snarky comment

Listen y'all, any Alex concept completely ruins me, but something about Alex being such a headass toward everything except his girl is just too much for me to handle. And like he’s so protective of her and always, always is touching her as a subtle way to let her know he’s there and also as a signal to every other guy to fuck off. It’s not in a possessive/controlling way, but it’s comforting to her and himself and wow idk how I got here but it doesn’t matter

Hey :) I just started thinking about Alex reading a nerdy book to Maggie to help her fall asleep after a long day and I can't handle the fluff (also, we need more book love!) :D Thank you for your writing and your kindness, and much love to our queer family <3

Her old microbiology textbook is her standby.

When her emotions are too scattered for novels; when her body needs a bit of nostalgia; when her mind needs to focus but not on whatever problems are immediately at hand – Alex’s college microbio textbook is what she reaches for.

Because she remembers marking up the pages and she remembers the late-night studying and she remembers the lab and she gets a thrill out of correcting the book in places where it’s since fallen out of date, where she knows more details, now, than the book included then; when she’s made her own discovery that’s added to, that’s refuted, one of the tidbits in the text.

So when Maggie is restless and when Maggie is bone-dead tired but her eyes can’t close – when Maggie’s day was a living nightmare and if she closes her eyes, she’ll see things she doesn’t want to – Alex pulls her into her lap and Alex wraps her up in the blankets and Alex puts on her glasses and Alex pulls out her old microbiology textbook, and Alex starts reading.

But she doesn’t just read the words. She pauses a few times a paragraph, describing whatever diagram, whatever chart, whatever illustration, the text references. Describing her first encounter with tardigrades and the fight she had with her professor about whether desiccation experiments were a form of torture. Describing the updates that the book needs to make, the discoveries that have been made – that she’s made – since its publication. The way xenobiology and alien physiology both challenge and reinforce the beauty contained within the book’s worn pages.

And Maggie listens, and Maggie smiles, and Maggie nods, and Maggie whines when Alex briefly stops stroking her hair so she can turn the page, and Maggie hums contentedly when Alex replaces her hand, when Alex leans down to kiss her temple; when Alex’s voice coaxes her into a deep, peaceful sleep, dreaming of creatures that thrive near absolute zero and creatures that live in acid and a woman that loves her more than life itself.

Dance With Me (12/?)

I did it, finally. I finished this chapter. And here we are. Idk, that ask yesterday was what I needed, I guess. I was kinda like, Well, shit. And here we are. It’s been so long since I’ve put out a chapter, but I’m really glad you guys still want to read this story.

“Hi daddy” I chirped into the phone

“Hey princess, what did I do to deserve this phone call today?” he asked

“I never really ask you for favors right daddy?” I asked sweetly

“No… not really” he said and by his tone I knew he was hip to where this conversation is going

“Well… I need a favor” he was silent for a minute “And that favor may be?” he asked

“Can you get me an apartment?” I asked

“What happened with you and Traci? You can always come back home if that’s not working for yo-”

“No daddy it’s not for me it’s for a friend” I said not wanting him to even finish the words that were coming out of his mouth

Me go back to my parents’ house? Ha!

Supergirl boss on Alex's journey to coming out

The CW superhero character who will be exploring her sexuality this season has been revealed.

During Monday’s episode of Supergirl, Alex (Chyler Leigh) started to question her sexuality, realizing that she may actually like women after Maggie (Floriana Lima) pressed her about it. How will Alex handle this new discovery? And what’s next for Alex and Maggie? EW turned to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg to find out:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What came with the decision to explore Alex’s sexuality?
ANDREW KREISBERG: We had discussed it a little bit last season. She just seemed like the character to do it with. We never really explored too much [of] her social life. In fact, it was nonexistent, because she had devoted so much of herself to the DEO and to her sister. So, the notion that rather than, “Oh, she was just a workaholic,” but that there was actually something psychological behind it was fascinating to us. Once we made the decision, you look back at last season and go, “Oh, it makes perfect sense.”

What was that conversation like with Chyler once you guys decided on this storyline?
She was great. We just sat down and we said, “Here’s what we’re planning for this season.” We had figured out a lot of it. We already knew we were adding Maggie to the cast, so we knew she would have a love interest. I think Chyler was excited at the prospect of Alex having her own storyline and her own life outside of Kara. In a way, life imitates art. As an actress, she was getting her own storyline just in the same way that Alex is getting her own storyline finally.

anonymous asked:

Instead of Astra, Maggie?

A/N:Ooooo Sanvers. You’re speaking my language.
Here you go

The whimpers wake her up.
The tiny shrill gusts of air spilling into the space between them.
Don’t hurt her.
Please don’t. Please.

Alex is curled up on the bed beside her. Fists balled. Teeth clenched. She looks like a child to Maggie, her arms hugged tightly around her chest, a makeshift security blanket.
Please…leave her. Take me. Take me.
It all suddenly makes sense to Maggie, why Alex was so hesitant to spend the night together. Why she always found an excuse to leave right before they got too comfortable. Maggie had dealt with her fair share of trauma, her fair share of broken bones and gunshot wounds, and what’d she’d come to realize was that the psychological damage, the nightmares, the paranoia, the sleepless nights…well, those parts were always worse.
“Alex,” she whispers as softly as she can, for the first time noticing the small barrier of pillows between them. Alex must have woken up and did it sometime during the night as some sort of safeguard. Apparently, she wasn’t always this contained. Maggie grimaces a little at the idea of her girlfriend flailing wildly, fearfully, only to awaken sweaty and alone.
“Alex,” she whispers again, watching as the girl’s features clench and unclench, terrified. Maggie has no idea what to do. No idea of the right way to handle this. The last time she’d gotten a nightmare herself was almost a year ago, and she’d just kind of fought it out quietly, went for drives around the city, obsessed over case files. She never stayed home though; her girlfriend at the time couldn’t handle it . It was all too much, too soon. That was probably the most difficult thing about it, going through it alone.
Maggie lays her head back down on her pillow, facing Alex. She scoots over as delicately as she can, being careful not to touch the other woman. She didn’t want to be the unlucky recipient of her left hook.
“Hey,” she whispers softly, comfortingly, pulling the soft, blue pillows from between them. “Wake up, Baby. Let me see your eyes.”
Alex’s expression turns into what can only be described as anguish.
Never safe. Never. Safe.
“I’m safe. You’re safe,” Maggie lets her head drift onto Alex’s pillow. She’s close enough to kiss the other woman’s forehead but refrains. “Kara’s safe. Eliza’s safe.” she continues the list quietly, list of people Alex loves, watching her girlfriend’s face oscillate between disbelief and sadness.
No, I let them…I let them down.
“You could never let them down,” Maggie says firmly. “They love you.”Alex’s fists uncurl just a little, and her mouth relaxes into a soft frown.
But Maggie…Maggie?  It’s a vague enough question, and at first, the detective isn’t sure how to respond. So instead she closes her eyes, scooting her head closer, until her forehead is just barely touching Alex’s. She hears the other woman let out a relieved, shuttering breath.

Maggie? She asks again.
“I’m here, Baby,” Maggie murmurs, her eyes still closed. Feeling a bit emboldened by Alex’s positive response to her contact, she lets her foot gently nudge the other woman’s. “I’m here for you,” she whispers. A sweet sigh spills from Alex’s mouth, the bed shifts, sheets move, and then suddenly Maggie is wrapped up in Alex’s arms.
I protect you.
It’s a vehement declaration, and Maggie feels it shutter all the way through her. She lets her arms gently wrap around Alex before sighing into the other woman’s shoulder, “I’ll protect you too.”

Are you drunk?

“Oh, you have got to be kidding me.” All Kara could do was stare.

“Huh?” Alex hiccuped and covered her mouth.

“Oh, um, nothing sweetie. Let’s get inside, we’re really late.”

Alex stumbled out of the passenger side of her car, fumbling aggravatedly with the door handle until Kara rushed around to close it for her.

In all fairness, Kara did try flying them to the engagement party.

Needless to say, Alex still had twigs in her hair.

Scooping an arm around Alex’s waist, Kara led the pair of them inside the Mexican restaurant, perhaps using too much of her strength to keep the brunette pinned to her hip.

Alex started grumbling immediately and swatted Kara’s hands away.

Lena Luthor was supposedly getting hitched (though no one had actually heard of the man before last week, much less even met him) and her choice in venue had to be the one place in National City that offered happy hour with tequila shots.

“Alex, quit it, I’m trying to find-”

Kara groaned as her sister bolted from her side, skittering down the steps, and into her new girlfriend’s arms. Honest to Rao, Kara really did love how happy Alex was, but did her sister have to be so sickeningly affectionate?

Alright, she could blame it on the intoxication. But still. It was embarrassing to watch your big sister sucking mouth in public like a teenage horn-dog.

Maggie finally detached her lips from Alex’s, a bit dazedly and with blown pupils. “Oh, God, are you drunk already? How long have you even been here?”

Kara rubbed her forehead exasperatedly.

Alex’s nose scrunched in concentration. “Like… thirty seconds.”

Maggie looked like she didn’t know whether to be impressed or concerned, but Kara wiggled back in. “It’s my fault. Sort of. Not really, but we can say it’s my fault.”

Alex nodded sagely. “Yep. Kara’s fault.”

Maggie raised an eyebrow between the two of them.

“Well, you see, it’s actually kind of funny-”

“We stopped by Alien Bar to pick up a gift from M’gann, and Kara was making goo-goo eyes at some guy at Alien Bar and she wanted to show him that she could handle her alien alcohol, but he turned out to be just a human so they ordered normal whiskey, and Kara said if I didn’t flirt with his friend and be her wingman she would burn a heart with your initials in my forehead and then the drinking game started.” Alex looked liked she enjoyed herself far too much, and hiccuped.

Kara smiled nervously at the detective.

Maggie shook her head and pulled Alex away from what was apparently a horrible influence of a sister.

“Mm, have I told you I love your arms?” Alex purred into Maggie’s ears, all too happily being dragged to the bathroom as her hands wrap around the woman’s biceps with experimental squeezes.

Maggie chuckled. “Might’ve come up.”

“I should remind you more often.”

Maggie smirked, shutting the bathroom door behind them and resting her hands on Alex’s hips. “You’re ridiculously cute when you’re drunk, you know that?”

Alex’s grin was childish and sloppy, but it filled her whole face. “Tell me more.”

With a low chuckle, Maggie stepped closer, lightly running her hands along the small of Alex’s back. “And this whole flushed-face, horny show you’ve got going on is distracting.”

Alex bit her bottom lip, but it did nothing to stifle her ridiculous smile. “You love it, don’t lie.” As if to highlight her point, Alex dragged her hands along the sides of Maggie’s neck, letting her nails leave gentle trails, before tangling harshly in the long, dark locks. “Just because I’m drunk doesn’t mean I don’t remember what you like.”

At the purposeful touches to her hair, Maggie’s eyes closed, and she hummed pleasantly. “What can I say? You’re good with your hands.”

Alex giggled and hiccuped again, and it made Maggie open her eyes with an affectionate smile. Double-checking the lock on the bathroom door, she bit her lip, and pressed her mouth against Alex’s ear. “Want me to show you what I’m good at?”

The drunk fit of giggles that came from Alex’s throat as Maggie trailed her mouth wetly down the slope of her neck, hands palming under the back of her dress pants, only made Maggie smile harder.

“Why do you have leaves in your hair?”

“Mm, Kara’s fault.”
