Here we go – another part of this Henry Talbot and Mary fic.  It turned into a long one (8,000 words - madness!!!) so I’ve split it into 2 chapters.  The first chapter was from Henry’s point of view and the second was more about Mary.  This is more plot and dialogue than thoughts and feelings – back in my preferred style at last.  This also gives me an opportunity to re-post the rather lovely pictures of Matthew Goode’s bare back while he is … well you know…   There is a bit of smut - as always - just skip through that.  ; ))

PS - I got so fed up proofreading this beast that I probably have left loads of mistakes - message me if you find something bad please?

I forgot to say that the beautiful photo manipulation of Henry and Mary was put together by thefoodofloveismusic.  I love the colouring on this pic.  They make a rather splendid couple!

The 15 best things my 14-year-old cousin said at Vans Warped Tour yesterday

Vans Warped Tour rolled into Henry Maier Festival Park yesterday, and for the 20th year, it provided a place for teens dressed in ways that will embarrass them in 10 years to see bands no one over 25 has ever heard of. I never got to go to Warped Tour when I was a teen, so this was my first time going. I took my 14-year-old cousin Molly, who’s a grizzled vet; this was her second year, and last year she went in Orlando during a heatwave and it was over 100 degrees. She is about this life, as the kids say.

Instead of giving you a rote review about how I don’t know why kids like Atilla, or how I faced my own mortality seeing a 13-year-old drink a beer during a metalcore set, I took a notepad and wrote down the things Molly said instead. Here are the 15 best things she said throughout the day.

Mario Gabelli Is Once Again The Top-Paid CEO On Wall Street

Seven of the 10 highest paid chief executives on Wall Street last year came from the asset-management industry. Mario Gabelli remains on top of the heap. Henry Kravis and George Roberts, the co-chairs and co-CEOs of KKR (KKR), rounded out the list of executives making more than $60 million last year. henry at 11 months

see that shirt? it describes henry to a tee. he’s cruising with ease and walks (with one or both hands holding mine). lately he’s been brave and he lets go and stands for a few seconds by himself before plopping on the floor.

in the past few weeks i added a variety of “real” food to his meals. now that he has two bottom teeth, i feel more comfortable giving him table food or larger chunks of fruits and vegetables. he likes avocado and crispy toast (a true blogger’s child), strawberry wedges, and roasted sweet potato. he had udon noodles for the first time last week and he loved them!

each month i’ll share a letter to henry along with some keepsakes and memories. i can’t believe he’s almost a year old. we mailed his birthday party invitations and planned our lunch menu. i’m making most of the decorations; we’re doing a theme based on one of our favorite wes anderson movies. you’ll have to remind me to share pictures (this means you kelsey and indi).

dear henry,

even if you’re a stinker at night, we love you more and more. you’re still obsessed with mama at bedtime. this month all of papa’s remotes intrigue you. you press the buttons, throw them, and fuss when we hide them in a drawer. everything is also a car. you push books, stuffed animals, and the dining room chairs across the floor. everything must move (which is why mama bought the lightning tee for you).

we go to the library on wednesdays and see other babies. the librarian mrs. sheila blows bubbles and you clap your hands, point, and laugh and laugh. as your bathtime treat mama blows a few bubbles before i rinse you. i will miss bringing you to the library when the school year begins. i’ve treasured our first summer home together. papa always reassures me, “it’s the first of many summers!”

you figured out sophie sits under your high chair waiting for food. sometimes you tease her by holding food out and then eating it, and other times you drop it on purpose (annoying mama). you are very silly. you use the sign for “more” when you want more food. you also spit out anything you don’t like. yucky, henry!

mama bought some shorts for you from finn and jules and papa thinks they are so cool! you are our LOVE.

great big bear hugs, mama + papa

The original mansion was destroyed in the French Revolution. It was repaired in a modest way by the last Condé, but the entire property was confiscated from the Orléans family between the years 1853 and 1872, during which interval it was owned by Coutts, an English bank. Chantilly was entirely rebuilt in 1875–1881 by Henri d'Orléans, duc d'Aumale (1822–1897) to the designs of Honore Daumet. The new château met with mixed reviews. Boni de Castellane summed up one line of thought: “What is today styled a marvel is one of the saddest specimens of the architecture of our era — one enters at the second floor and descends to the salons”. In the end, the Duc d'Aumale bequeathed the property to the Institut de France upon his death in 1897.

The art gallery of Chantilly is one of the largest in France.  The château’s art gallery, the Musée Condé, houses one of the finest collections of paintings in France (after the Louvre). It specializes in French paintings and book illuminations of the 15th and 16th centuries.

It was amazing to see.
