help me to survive

“I have written a poem for a woman who rides a bus in New York City. She’s a maid, she has two shopping bags. When the bus stops abruptly, she laughs. If the bus stops slowly, she laughs. I thought, ‘Mmm, a-ha.’ Now, if you don’t know black features, you may think she’s laughing. But she wasn’t laughing. She was simply extending her lips and making a sound. I said, ‘Oh, I see.’ That’s that survival apparatus. Now, let me write about that to honor this woman who helps us to survive.”

Today I have FINALLY finished my criminology essay plan, and I’m currently getting some work done on my digital media lectures. ✌🏻

To say this month has been chaotic would be an incredible understatement. I honestly feel like the universe has been testing me, but here I am. I SURVIVED! Farewell April, thanks for.. helping me grow I guess? I’m optimistic about May, and whatever it may bring. It can’t get any worse… right?

  • Monopoly money or a drawn money note
  • A paintbrush
  • Mint leaves
  • Nutmeg
  • Cinnamon
  • Sun water

  • Take the paintbrush and “paint” the paste onto your windowsills and doorways while saying/thinking “I ask for money in this time of need to get me by, to help me survive.” as many times as you wish.
