DNC Staffer Screams At Donna Brazile For Helping Elect Donald Trump | The Huffington Post

The DNC shat the bed in a major way this election. Y'all just lost to a reality TV star. If you don’t get your act together you can start planning your funeral. Both parties need to take a long hard look at themselves and see how we got here. From producing candidates like Kennedy and Reagan to giving us Clinton and Trump.

Não consegui segurar

Gente, eu estou chorando.

Brazilian giant meatpackers targeted in corruption probe

SAO PAULO — Two big Brazilian meatpackers bribed inspectors to keep rotten meat on the market, police charged Friday in issuing dozens of arrest warrants, while a judge accused the Agriculture Ministry of betraying the country.

Part of the money allegedly paid by meatpackers JBS and BRF was channeled to two major political parties, including the one of President Michel Temer, police said after a two-year investigation.

Authorities warned that the case was a severe blow to the international image of Brazil’s agribusiness sector, which officials have been counting on heavily for helping Brazil recover from its worst recession in decades.

Investigator Mauricio Moscardi Grillo said at a news conference that the two meatpackers used chemicals to improve the appearance and smell of expired meats. He said at least one executive reported that rotten meat was mixed with healthy meat to be sold to consumers.

Cheaper products like water and manioc flour were also blended with meat sold by the two companies, Grillo said. Adding that three plants have been shut down.

The investigator said school children in the southern state of Parana were fed with dangerous meat. “They are getting food made of outdated, rotten and many times cancerous products so the economic interest of this mighty crime gang is obeyed,” Grillo said.

Police said the meatpackers had direct influence in the Agriculture Ministry so they could pick the inspectors who would visit their plants. Those inspectors would produce sanitary certificates regardless of the adulteration of the products, police said.

In his decision to authorize arrests, Judge Marcos Josegrei da Silva said the Agriculture Ministry has a “staggering” involvement in fraud and corruption. “The ministry was taken hostage by a group of individuals that repeatedly betrayed their obligation of serving society,” Silva wrote.

Grillo said some of the expired meat was exported to Europe. He said four containers of BRF meat contaminated with salmonella were stopped in Italy in 2016, but nothing was done against the company.

JBS and BRF issued separate statements denying any wrongdoing and said they comply with regulations.

“The company vehemently repudiates any adoption of practices related to the adulteration of products,” JBS said. BRF said it “assures the quality and the safety of its products and guarantees that there is no risk for consumers.”

JBS is one of the largest meat processers in the world, producing beef, chicken and pork. It has about 150 plants worldwide and it is based in Sao Paulo. BRF was formed by the merger of two of the best known Brazilian meat processers, Sadia and Perdigao, both from Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. They also produce margarine, pizza and other processed foods.

Eumar Novacki, a spokesman for the Agriculture Ministry, said at a news conference that the revelations caused outrage and would affect Brazil’s image around the world. He said Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi ordered the suspected inspectors to be removed from office.

“We will take action to punish those who committed this. It is 33 servants in a group of thousands. It is not a routine problem; it is an isolated issue,” Novacki said. “Brazilian meat is in 150 countries because it has good quality. Those countries also have their agencies that inspect products.”

Novacki said there were “very small risks” in consuming meat processed by JBS and BRF. “It is not the majority of the meat. But there is (a risk),” he said. “The three or four plants where this happened were shut down today for us to see what happened in each of them.”

Shares in JBS closed Friday on the Sao Paulo stock exchange down more than 11 per cent , while those of BRF fell almost 8 per cent .

Grillo said some of the bribes paid to inspectors were channeled to two political parties — Temer’s centrist Brazilian Democratic Movement Party and the right-leaning Progressive Party, which is part of the president’s governing coalition.

Investigators said federal Justice Minister Osmar Serraglio had been taped in a conversation with one of the leaders of the alleged bribery scheme in his home state of Parana in southern Brazil in which Serraglio calls an investigated inspector “big boss.”

Brazil’s federal police said that was not enough evidence to open an investigation of Serraglio, who oversees the force. In a statement, Serraglio said the police raid was a clear sign that he was not interfering in federal police investigations.

Now, here in Brazil: National Indigenous Mobilisation week!
About 1,400 members of various indigenous Brazilian tribes have set up camp outside the National Congress in Brasilia to demand land rights. Organisers of the Tierra Libre (Free Land) camp aim to discuss issues of land demarcation and indigenous rights with authorities.

I am descendant of the Guarani people and activist. Please, help us to spread this message! We need to save our forests and indigenous peoples, and the Brazilian government is going over all laws and human rights!

I am the sole survivor of a hellish series of atrocities which occurred on Christmas Eve. I cannot explain what I saw, but the world must know that an incomprehensible evil is now walking the Earth.

It is with deep reluctance and gnawing dread that I choose to recall the events of that Thursday. All fibres of my being scream that doing so is a bad idea; that I should take the safe, healthy route and allow time to erase the memories. But, still, the responsible citizen in me believes an informed populace should take precedence over the real risk to my own mental health. The world must know what happened. If a watchful, beneficent God exists in a realm unknown to mankind, I hope my sacrifice may someday be rewarded.

I had been working in São Paulo for three weeks. I was asked by my company to make the trip to Brazil to help get our new divisional office up and running. I enjoyed Brazil, despite my near-nonexistent ability to speak Portuguese. Still, I liked the few people I’d gotten to know in the office, and I looked forward to attending my boss’ Christmas party my at her home in Chacara Flora.

I arrived fashionably late to find the party at its jubilant peak. Our host, Bethe Silva, had made sure each of her employees was well fed and filled with festive drinks. After about twenty minutes, the electricity cut out. Thanks to the luminosity of numerous lanterns and candles around the living room, the atmosphere became even more festive. Soft shadows danced across the guests’ smiling faces and no one seemed to mind. I checked my cell phone out of sheer habit and noticed it wasn’t working. I tried to reset it, but still it didn’t work. I downed another drink and got over my mild irritation.

Events in Rio

In June/July there is an event called “Festa Junina”. It’s a typical party with typical Brazilian food/drinks. It’s tradional in Rio and every weekend there is a different party around the country. There some street “parties” as well. And although it’s winter, the temperature is good enough to spend some time at the beaches or sightseeing. There’s always somenthing to do!

Hey guys. I wanted to address something very serious real quick. I don’t know who knows here but I live in Brazil, and right now things are very tense and going downhill. Our president was deposed and her vice is now provisionally in charge. In less than 48 hours, he caused immense damage. I won’t explain in details but his plans are bound to affect directly education, culture, freedom and safety. Some people have been arrested already only for talking about politics at school. Students have been taken by force by the police for fighting for their rights and the police said they don’t need a warrant to invade anywhere anymore. We are repeating history here. Between 1964 and 1985 our country lived a dictatorsahip. So many people died, no one could talk about the things that were happening because if they did they would torture them and then kill them. Being an artist and an activist was dangerous then. And quite honestly, is just as dangerous now. Is starting to look a lot like we are going back to that dictatorship and I’ve never been more scared in my entire life. I’m an actress and we are presenting The Crucible at college in June, and if you know this play you know it involves a lot of politic critics, which means me and my friends may be in danger. Now all I ask is, if you can PLEASE spread the word that things are getting ugly around here in Brazil. If you don’t live in Brazil, talk to your friends about it, let them know something’s wrong because maybe in the future we’ll heavily need your support. I’m sorry for talking about this here but I’m honestly so scared and I need you guys to know that me and thousands of artists, educators, workers and people in general may be in danger. I wish I was overreacting but history and recent events led me to think otherwise. So spread our word. Let us be heard.
