hell-yes-and-proud

Some less-explored aspects of Viktor Nikiforov’s character that I will love and protect until my dying day:

  • Finally learned how to be a young and careless person at age 27
  • Was absolutely 100% willing to jump straight into a “Married for five years with a dog” type relationship with Katsuki Yuuri the moment his feet hit the ground in Japan (Viktor “U-haul” Nikiforov)
  • Arrived in Japan assuming that he and Yuuri were already in a relationship and, once realizing his error, didn’t pressure Yuuri into ‘Keeping his promise’ or something similarly creepy
  • Literally is such an affectionate person and lets exactly zero (0) stereotypes regarding Eastern European men apply to him
  • He never raises his voice in anger to anyone??? ever?? I love it
  • Is an extremely competitive person but probably also the most sporting person in the entire fuckin show? Like even Yuuri can sometimes be a bit of a sore loser but Viktor’s like, Yuuri you better inspire the fuck out of that smol multi-colored skate child. Hell yes I’m proud of Yurio, that’s my boy, that’s my actual son.
  • Is a masculine person who gives ZERO FUCKS about perceived gender
  • NONE of his compliments to Yuuri are overtly physicality-based? He showers Yuuri in compliments about his stamina, about his ability to wow the crowd. He tells him how sexy he is but it’s entirely because of how Yuuri’s CONFIDENCE makes him sexy. Viktor is, at every moment, using positive reinforcement to make Yuuri see himself in a kinder light.
  • Is literally always unashamedly high key about everything.

The power of psychology will bring a breath of fresh air to the legal system.

This took forever  (ʘ‿ʘ✿)

But it was worth it! She’s finished and ready to shine in the spotlight!

Hope you like it.

Oh, that beautiful woman there? The one decked out in gorgeous Indian attire? The one coolly ignoring all the racist slurs and utterances of horror crawling along the walls of some godforsaken Waffle House? The one who could not give less of a damn if someone gapes at her audacity to bask in the glory of her culture?

That’s my mother. Hell yes, I’m proud.

Fifteen Hundred Miles (Burr x Reader)

Words: 2700+

Warnings: A small bit of cursing

A/N: I have decided that there aren’t enough burr imagines out there, so i made one! i am proud of this, so enjoy!

You’ve checked your wrist hundreds of times, seeing if your soulmate would get any closer to you. But since you were born, your wrist read 1500 miles, 1500 miles away from the one you were meant to be with, 1500 miles away from seeing their face.

It was strange, sometimes you thought that your clock was broken. It hasn’t changed in miles, so either you haven’t gone anywhere in ages, or the person didn’t move out of their one-mile radius.

Most of your friends found their soulmates, they were lucky enough to live within a hundred-mile radius of one another. But you, you weren’t so fortunate. You had states to travel, hundreds of dollars to spend to see them. You wondered whether it was worth it. But you saw the happiness on Elizabeth’s face when she met Alexander and their immediate connection that you continued to think otherwise.

11 days ago I weighed 305 lbs, and started my gym membership.
In the past 11 days, I’ve lost 5 lbs.
I’m now at 300 lbs, with another 150 lbs to go until my ultimate goal weight.

Is 5 lbs what I was hoping for in almost two weeks? Heck no.
But is 5 lbs better than 0? Hell yes!

I’m proud that I’ve started this journey over again and I’ve stuck to my plan.
5 lbs down, and 150 more to go.
But I’m already 3% of the way there!

@warbiers What is up with Grant playing in the short films that are always in French? I mean, I’m not complaining, because damn, even in this, he blows me away, plus it had subtitles, but it just makes me curious as to why he chooses to star in French short films…. *gasp* WHAT IF IT’S BECAUSE HE’S PART FRENCH?!

a hs au where cas is dean's tutor?

No warnings apply, but heed the disclaimer. I pictured Cas’s outfit like the one in linneart’s drawing, which is over here. I tried to cram in a bunch of references to the show’s dialogue. This is really sappy. I have a problem. It’s also 1.6k.

It’s not that Dean is flunking physics. He’s got a steady D average, which is enough to pass, but his guidance counselor is concerned about his GPA even though Dean assured him he’s not planning on college. They can’t both go, and Sam deserves it. Dean doesn’t want a tutor, especially not some kid his age in a tan sweater with a tie and a freaking button-down, but his mom insisted.

“I don’t want to be here,” Dean gripes during their first session, in the library after school on a Tuesday.

“So leave,” says Castiel. That’s actually his name, Castiel. He regards Dean with a stony expression.

Dean slams open his textbook and decides that Castiel is a dick.

Into Hot Water

I got this prompt from an anon:

Bard accidentially walks in on Thranduil taking a bath and cannot take his eyes off the elven king. Thranduil is unware of Bard’s present until *fill in the blank*

Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~
Oh…  Ah…  Um…  Oh dear.
Bard’s brain stuttered as he tried to process the image before him.  Just a few minutes ago, Galion had found Bard in his temporary quarters at Thranduil’s palace and told Bard that Thranduil wanted to see him in his study shortly.  Figuring it would be a good opportunity to become more familiar with the palace, Bard asked Galion for directions to Thranduil’s study in lieu of having Galion take Bard there himself.  Bard thought he had followed the instructions to the letter but Galion might’ve told him the wrong thing or he must’ve ended up turned around and lost, and he wouldn’t be surprised because, you know, the place is so big and the halls look so similar… Regardless, Bard presently found himself in quite the predicament.  He seemed to have made his way into a currently occupied bathroom and… well…
That is definitely the Elvenking, and he is not wearing any clothing.
i too love how oliver is so attracted to felicity's intellect and her genius mind(while definitely appreciating her looks) and is nowhere near intimidated or feeling miffed bc his girlfriend/soulmate/friend is so smart and succesful, you know how some self entitled meninists are so scared that their girlfriends will be considered somehow better and smarter than them. on the contrary oliver loves how much better felicity is at so many things. "Is that judgement I'm hearing?" "Pride"
Oh yes, it’s absolutely one of my favorite qualities about them.
Let me tell you a story about myself: one of my favorite books of all time is Atlas Shrugged. The immediate response (especially within the last ten years) is always political, and yes, yes, it’s written with the main objective of communicating her self-made philosophy of Objectivism, and yes, yes, every single Republican (really, every single person with a politically-drive mind) references or talks about or trashes this book.
(If you haven’t heard Atlas Shrugged mentioned by every single Republican in the U.S., you aren’t watching the news (and good, you shouldn’t be watching the news in the U.S. unless you also get it from 1000 different other sources at the same time). I don’t love the book specifically for her philosophy, although I’ve certainly adapted certain aspects of it into my life (i.e. the idea of selfishness, there’s something to that). It’s really a challenging read, if you can get through it at least once, you deserve a cookie.)
But I digress…
One of my most adored things about Ayn Rand, her philosophy, the book, whatever is this very thing: Oliver is very attracted to strong women because he values himself - he wants someone in his life who will challenge hims, push him, make him think, etc., not someone who rolls over or concedes or gives way when the shit hits the fan (such as letting someone get away with shitty behavior that only hurts you - i.e. Laurel).
Oliver has an intense sense of self (skewed as it may be/has been) - he has so much character, and we’ve seen that in his life choices. He got stranded on a fucking island, where mercenaries tried to kill him every single day. He had to learn to survive, fight for his life, learn things about himself he never would have learned had he stayed in Starling City instead of getting on the Gambit. He had to learn how to hunt, how to adapt, how to kill. It all set him on a path that led him to where he is now, and you don’t get there without an immense amount of character - you don’t survive that without an immense sense of character (we see that almost immediately when he refuses to give way under torture, right at the beginning; that was one thing about the flashbacks that was glorious, seeing how Ollie was unmade, and Oliver was made - but it wasn’t even really a process of making/unmaking, so much as scraping away all the gooey stuff to reveal his true self… as he says to Laurel at the end of S1, deluded as he is in that conversation with her). It not only revealed the hardness at his center, that steadfastness that lets him survive, but also the light within him. He absolutely has a stunning light inside him, and that light is what lets him do what must be done while still retaining his humanity (aka what makes you a gorram hero).
But he can’t do it alone, and that’s where Felicity comes in.
Oliver is attracted to strong women because they are a mirror of the strength within him - Felicity has so much character, so much inner strength, because she’s been through her own issues and instead of letting them take her down or change her, she let them transform her into who she is today. She learned, she adapted, just like Oliver did. It’s why she was always able to see through his bullshit, see who he is inside, see him. Sara had the same ability, but that was derived from going through the same experiences, she couldn’t take it to the next level of transformation that Oliver needed, not like Felicity can.
So hell yes, Oliver is proud of her. He wants her to blow him away with her abilities, he wants her to do better, he wants her to be everything she can be, to take every step she can in life, even if he doesn’t understand it all (I love the fics that show Oliver staring at Felicity lovingly while she babbles on about tech doodads - I love that so much, and I hope we get more of that in Season 4). How he views Felicity and her abilities to me is not only a reflection of the loving person Oliver is anyway, but also of his own character.
He’s not threatened by her because he knows he has his own strengths, and it’s okay that they’re different, and it’s even more okay that they find a way to make it work.
As an aside, this was a heavy part of Oliver’s journey, I think, discovering that it’s okay to love Felicity, that he deserves her love in return - they are the literal definition of a power couple, you guys, oh my god (and they’re just starting - I can’t wait to see the struggle to get on even ground where they can be together and do what they do on the side - it won’t come easy, but it will be so worth it).
