24 July 1915 - Strong
and inspiring women can be found everywhere –including at the front
lines of WWI. One of them was Belgian Helene Dutrieu, a cycling world
champion and stunt cyclist. In 1910 she learned to fly and became the
fourth woman worldwide, and the first Belgian woman, licensed as an
aeroplane pilot. In the Great War, Hélène volunteered for war service
with France’s Air Patrol and made flights from Paris to check on the
location and movement of German troops.
