heartdrop

last heartdrop

once upon a time you were more important to me than myself.

I used to talk about you like you were brighter than the sun,

I used to talk about you like you were oxygen.

I used to talk about you like you were every wave in the sea.

I used to talk about you like you told the stars when to shine.

I used to talk about you like you created god.

I used to crave you like my veins crave the flow of my blood.

Your lips were my existence,

Your eyes were every heartbeat I ever had.

Your soul was everything that perfection would ever come close to.

Where were you?

Where were you when I was all about you?

Where were you when my tongue was addicted to your name?

But now, darling

The roses that were once your lips have died,

Every galaxy that I saw in your eyes has faded into darkness.

I have loved you.

And I loved you so violently.

And I loved you for so long -

That I cannot dream of talking about anyone the way I used to talk about you.

And as time will make me old and bitter,

I will surely find someone new.

And he perhaps may love me, but I will not love him too.

And he’ll wonder why i’m so cold-hearted, and my feelings can’t be true,

And darling that’s because,

I used every last drop of my heart on you.
