heart break up

Matches (shitty poem by yours truly)

They were matches.

As soon as they met they were struck with
Love.Passionate flames engulfing them both completely.
Fiery love burned bright in their hearts as they found beauty in everything about each other.

Sadly, their fiery infatuation was only skin deep.

But they were matches,
And matches burn fast.

They flame soon slowed and flickered.
But neither of them knew how to keep it going, nor did they care.

They got to bask in cooes and awws from their friends and jealousy from their old flames.

So it got dim.

They choked on the ashes and singed their hair on the flying ember of what could have been.

Fingernails dirtied and skin darkened by soot.

They soon parted in search for a lasting fire.

I think you need to fall in love with the wrong person. I think you need to fight and cry and sweat and bleed and fail. I think you need to have bad relationships and bad breakups. I think you need all of that so that when the right person and the right relationship finally comes along, you can sigh with relief and say, “Ah yes. That is how it’s supposed to feel.

When you love, I think it’s better to love with your whole heart than to be safe and reserved. I know it might set you up for getting your heart broken which is no fun, but even if that does happen, at least you know that you gave it your all. If it didn’t work out, it wasn’t your fault because you were brave enough to say, “hey, I love the absolute shit out of you, I hope that’s enough”.

‘She cried over you. She cried for days.’

'I know.’

'Then why didn’t you reach out to her? Why didn’t you give her the closure she needs?’

'Because I’m hurting too,’ he shouted. 'Because I’m afraid that if I see her crying in front of me, I’ll apologize and beg for her back! But I can’t do that.’ His gaze dropped. 'I can’t hurt her anymore than I already have.’
