"What's Your Name?" - A Harry Styles Mini Series (Part 3)
“I can’t believe it. How did I let her go again?! Why does this keep happening?”
Harry had retreated into his own mind after seeing the mystery girl disappear behind the closing elevator doors. Everything around him seemed to become cloudy, like his head was in a fog. He felt a weight pressing down on him. It took everything in him not to collapse to his knees. He didn’t even realize that he was walking down the stairs, from the eighth floor to the fifth, where Louis’ room was. He didn’t feel the hard, cold cedar colliding with his knuckles as he knocked on the large wooden barrier that stood between him and, what he hoped would be, some sort of solace. He began to become a bit more aware of his surroundings when Liam came to open the door. He seemed to be making a joke about Harry being Sleeping Beauty, or something of the sort. The fog around him began to lift once he stepped into the room and heard the thunderous, animated voices of his band mates.
Once the fog in his head had completely disappeared, the first thing Harry noticed was Niall sitting in the corner. From what Harry could see he was furiously scrolling through his twitter, maybe looking for something, or someone specific? It was difficult to tell from this vantage point, but he made a mental note to ask Niall about it later.
As Harry plopped down into the nearest armchair, the guys could tell there was something wrong. They didn’t see the cheerful, full of energy lad that they were used to. “Oi, Harry. You alright? You look a little pale.” Louis was the first to speak.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Liam continued.
Harry replied with a half-hearted, “I’m fine,” and the lads seemed to take his word for it.
Zayn was the only one who was able to read Harry’s face. It was the same one he had seen the night before, when the boys were all in the green room, after the show. “It’s that girl again, isn’t it? You’ve been thinking about her. I told you it wasn’t worth it, that she’ll just bring heartache.”
All the lads chimed in after they heard the information that had spewed from Zayn’s mouth. “What girl?” “There’s a girl?” “How come we didn’t know about any girl?” “What’s he talking about Harry?” “Why is Zayn the only one who seems to know about this?” “You really should keep us informed about this sort of thing.”
“EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP!!” Harry was fed up with all of the questions and accusatory remarks. “It’s not a big deal. It’s just a girl that I saw in the audience last night. Now, before you say anything or scold me for being stupid, I already know. I’ve already heard all of that from Zayn. However, it didn’t do a single thing to change my mind, and believe me, I’ve tried. I’ve tried to rationalize the whole thing in my mind. I’ve tried telling myself that she’s just an infatuation, that there’s no possible way we could have a connection because I don’t even know the girl. I’ve tried every excuse out there. It’s like every time I turn around she’s there again, but then suddenly she’s gone. I try to forget about her. I try to push her out of my mind, but she haunts me in my dreams, when I can sleep. And when I can’t sleep, I see her every time I close my eyes. My mind is in constant torment. I KNOW that this is stupid. I KNOW that there’s no way in hell, but… I just can’t help but wonder… What if? You know?
“Now I feel like I’m talking in circles. Like my mind keeps running around and around on a track, and I’m not making any sense. Am I making sense? I don’t know…”
The boys just sat there and stared for, what seemed to Harry, like an hour. Zayn was the first to speak. “I had no idea that it was this serious, Harry. I’m sorry I didn’t realize this last night. Lads, we need to help Harry get his mind off of this girl. We need to get the old Harry back. This depressed, brooding Harry just won’t do. Harry, why don’t you go get some rest in your room? We’ll stay here and discuss a plan.”
“No. Guys, you don’t have to do anything. I can handle it on my own.”
Niall chimed in this time. “Harry, I know what you’re going through right now. Listen to Zayn. Go hang out in your room, just for a little while, and then we’ll text you when we’ve figured something out.”
Harry let out an exasperated sigh. “Alright. I’ll go. I’m hesitant, but I’ll go.” He got up slowly from the cushy chair he had been sitting in.
Louis had gotten up off of the bed he was sitting on and was practically pushing Harry out of the door. “Go on, Harold. It’s for your own good.”
As he stood in the doorway, Harry took one last look around the room. This was his family. He was grateful for their encouragement, but was wary of what was to come. He shut the door and began to walk down the corridor. “Oh Harold, what have you gotten yourself into?”
A/N: Oh my goodness, you guys! I’m so sorry that this has taken me so long to finish writing this. It was difficult for me to figure out where I wanted to go with the story. I hope you all like the direction I’ve decided to take it. I’m hoping to have the last part up within a week or so. On a side note, I don’t know how many of you noticed, but in this part of my series I snuck in a little tribute to another mini series, written by my best friend glitterguru. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can do so HERE, and then come back and figure out which part is the little reference to it!
I love you all!! Thanks for sticking with me!! <3 <3 <3
