he's so dumb you know he positioned everything in the picture

Modern SNS AU

Where Naruto and Sasuke are connected to Tumblr almost all the time, and then one of them bumps into the other’s blog because some of his selective blogs are common between them.

Naruto thinks that avenger2307 is a total emo and Sasuke just knows that ramenslover10 is as silly as his name. Neither of them realizes exactly how things start, but suddenly they are both rebloging their posts and invading their blogs just to criticize them.

Naruto continues to say that avenger2307 is depressed and negative and an idiot about everything and a total emo and shouldn’t infect others about his emo-ish attitude and Sasuke just keeps replying that at least he is not obsessed with some damn stupid noodles and posting silly videos all over the day and photos of cats in costumes and making others lose their valuable time of day and Naruto is just like “Hey! First of all, it’s RAMEN, and it’s delicious, idiot, and second, the videos are not silly, they are FUN, third, what kind of person doesn’t like cats with costumes, you bastard? And fourth, if it bothers you so much, why do you visit my blog and read it and SEE the silly videos, huh?” And Sasuke only answers with an "Hn, dobe”, and Naruto has no idea why he’s so mad, but he only knows he is.

They continue to do that for a long time (a long, long time) until it becomes routine. One of them will write something and the other will comment an insult or criticism. Both begin to follow each other for the sole purpose of arguing.

It is silly, and probably stupid, because they fight all the time and publicly, but somehow it has become ordinary and both become the primary focus of the other. Sasuke will find himself waiting for the dumbs videos to see daily or the stupid, goofy cat picture that maybe, just maybe will not seem so silly this time. Naruto will find himself checking his cell phone during classes waiting for a depressive or negative post about a class or a person or life in general just to see how he can turn it into something positive just for the sheer pleasure of bothering his emo life. Because it feels good, somehow.

And then, a few weeks later, avenger2307 stops publishing things one day and Naruto is so focused on him in that time that he cannot help but notice and it hurts. And the absence is prolonged and prolonged. Two days, three days, a week, and Naruto doesn’t want to admit he’s worried, because he’s a stubborn idiot, but he is. Naruto doesn’t want to admit that he actually misses that, misses his emo mood and their interactions and their arguments and his posts, but he does. He misses him and his depressingly blog and he can’t help but notice the stupid gap that opens empty in his stomach and swallows every time he log in again and avenger2307 is still absent.

But then he returns, avenger2307 RETURNS, posting one of the most jerk-typing and depressing posts about his city’s internet service and the fact that he had no network for TWO weeks and Naruto can’t help but laughs because he thinks he’s a pessimistic idiot, but it’s fine, it’s fine, because avenger2307 HAVE RETURNED, and it’s still him, still as grumpy and whining, and he’s there again.

And Naruto knows it’s stupid and ridiculous how good it feels to see him again there, on his screen, because he is supposed to dislike him, he is supposed to be annoyed that he actually returned. He knows he’s being dumb and it’s embarrassing, but he doesn’t care. So he press the option to “like” the post and, without even thinking about it, goes to the private message tray and clicks on the user bubble of avenger2307 and writes “Wow, about time, busy being emo in real life? it must be hard, no one knows how to do it like you”, and then he sends it. And first he believes that he is witty and congratulates himself because he has finally sent a message in private, but then avenger2307 doesn’t answer. And it passed two minutes, three minutes, four… and Naruto’s stomach hurts because he has just sent a private message, a message in which he practically points out how desperate he was to talk to him and also flatters his emo attitude and Oh by Ramen’s God, what did you just do? That’s…

“Hn. Worried, dobe? I already know that I’m good on what I do, you don’t need to say it. But no, my internet fell. Did you like my post and didn’t even read it, dumbass? Wow, I didn’t know how much you admired me.”

And Naruto smiles because avanger2307 in fact answered his message, (as arrogant and idiotic as ever, because he was a bastard), but he answered and now they can really talk to each other. And Naruto finally can crush avenger’s ego in private without others bothering them.

.

The days pass and they keep talking and Naruto actually learns things, he learns that avenger2307 is more fun than it looks, even if he makes jokes that Naruto doesn’t understand always, or even if they are too dark that they shouldn’t be fun. Naruto actually learns that he is a total nerd and that he likes math and school. He learns that he is a boy and that he has a name, (Sasuke. Sasu-ke, no Sas-uke, Sasuke.) (Naruto likes to say it quietly in class because he likes how it sounds.) (It’s not like he’s admitting it anyway, and less the fact that he doesn’t care if his friends see him strangely when he does it.) which he likes to make fun of because “what kind of stupid name is that?” (and even if he only does it to annoy him because he actually likes it, and thinks it’s cool), and Sasuke only responds with a “look who says it, fishcake”, and Naruto should get angry or pissed off, he should, because it bothers him when others do it, but then somehow Naruto only answers with a “whatever you say Sasuke-bastard” and everything keeps the same.

Naruto learns that they both like martial arts and that Sasuke is actually good at it because he has gone to important events and has first places and WOW, Sasuke is indeed as cool as his name.

Sasuke also likes tomatoes and rice and the color blue. Sasuke is sarcastic and arrogant, but he’s also kind and worries about things in the world that Naruto had not even stopped to think about. It’s soft on the edges and Naruto really begins to like him. Because Sasuke insults and criticizes him and makes jokes about him, but Sasuke also cares (even if he has never admitted it aloud, Naruto knows he does) because, even if it is subtly, Sasuke always asks when he feels that something is wrong. (And for some reason, Sasuke always knows when something is wrong. Naruto even starts to think that Sasuke is a kind of a nerd and arrogant bastard voodoo.)

Sasuke also stops calling him “dobe” so many times and begins to say “usuratonkachi” instead, and Naruto has no idea what it means, but he thinks that if it is an insult, at least it’s a cool one, so he doesn’t complain. He likes it because Sasuke puts it in sentences that sound more like a nickname than an insult, and Naruto likes to think Sasuke has a nickname for him.

Their posts are also different in some way. Sasuke smiles sometimes at Naruto’s ridiculous childish obsession with everything rather than bothering about it and Naruto thinks that somehow Sasuke’s negative comments are no longer as cruel and tragic and are more like perspectives of the world; Naruto thinks it’s somehow interesting, even if he publishes nerd data as well. And it’s a little stupid, but Naruto has found himself smiling while reading a comment from avenger2307 with a “… yes, that also applies to dobes like you, fideossucker/fishcake” at the end of the note or in the tags at the end of the post. He doesn’t know why he cares so much, but he does.

Sasuke also has a good voice. (He knows it after hearing him speak for the first time, because somehow they end up exchanging phone numbers at some point in their conversations.) (Neither of them is very sure who offered it or asked for it first, but the point is they have it and now they can actually SPEAK and listen to the each other’s voice and oh holy ramen, Naruto would be lying if he didn’t say he was excited to hear him because he wondered about it so many times before, wondered what his voice would be like, and his curiosity was very big at that point that he literally felt tingling in the tip of his fingers when he answered the phone that time.) A voice that makes tickles in the tip of Naruto’s stomach. Naruto believes that if he sang he would do it well. His voice is grave and masculine and low and thick in the right kind of way. It is soft and intense at the same time and Naruto likes it, he likes to hear him speak about anything, and likes to hear him say “usuratonkachi”, because it sounds softer in his voice, because it sounds much softer than it should sound with his tone of voice. He likes the way he pronounces things and the way he drops the words from his mouth as if he’s sure of them. He likes the arrogant tone that wash over his voice when he is flooding himself or being an egocentric bastard and Naruto can practically hear the smirk across the line.

.

They start talking more often. They talk about everything and nothing and Naruto learns more things. Now he knows which book is Sasuke’s favorite and why. He knows he likes the bow and arrow. He knows that he has three friends and that they are all “complete idiots, but I like them.” One is Suigetsu and he’s on the school’s swimming team and as far as Sasuke mentions (which is not much, Sasuke doesn’t really like to talk about himself) Naruto bets that he’s as asshole as Sasuke is himself, but Sasuke says his jokes are fun most of the time. The other is Juugo, who is obsessed with animals and the environment and is incredibly patient with them all. There is also Karin (Karin, who is a girl, Karin, that for some strange reason causes Naruto to feel something vicious in his stomach whenever Sasuke mentions her) (and no, those feelings are not jealousy at all), who has glasses and is a hothead, with the hair of an intense red. Karin, who is irritable and upset about the fact that Suigetsu is an immature idiot most of the time. Karin who is strong and kind and has an intense and strong personality. Karin, who is intelligent and perceptive and “just as stubborn as you moron”. Karin, who had a crush on Sasuke for a while time ago but now likes to joke about the fact that Naruto and him look like boyfriends because they talk ALL the time and A LOT, (and no, Naruto definitely didn’t blush when Sasuke said it).

And then Naruto finds himself thinking about Sasuke. Thinking about his possible appearance. Wondering and thinking in how would his hair look like, about if his face combines with his voice, in what would be the color of his eyes, (seriously, if he doesn’t pass algebra it will be all Sasuke’s fault), because Sasuke has not mentioned anything about his physique besides that he has a weird tattoo on the shoulder (stupid, stupid Suigetsu’s dare).

And then one day they’re talking and Sasuke says, “Are you blond?”

And Naruto almost choked on his own saliva because what the hell, how does he know that. He is surprised and for a moment really thinks oh by ramen’s sake, Sasuke KNOWS him in person. And he’s so focused on his nerves and panic that he doesn’t realize that he has not answered yet until Sasuke says, “Well, because you know, blondes are supposed to be fools, so I assumed you were very blond.”

And then Naruto just… stops. He knows he is supposed to be offended, but at the moment he can only laugh, because Sasuke tried to make a joke (a biased one, but still, a joke. Naruto imagines Sasuke is clumsy for jokes and for anything to do with having actually normal fun) so he only answers with a “bastard. You’re rude. But yes, I’m the hottest blonde you ever gonna meet in your life.”

“Debatable. But hn, your ancestors must be proud of you then, unless you dye it.”

“Hey! I’m really hot, y’know? And of course not, you idiot, I don’t dye my hair, I’m a natural blonde.”

“Hn.” Sasuke likes to make that sound a bit too much.

“Do you?”

“What?”

“Do you dye your hair, moron?”

“No, why would I do that?”

“Well, how do I know you’re not an emo who likes to paint his hair and wear piercings and black clothes and hair over his face…? I bet you let grow your hair long and…, OH AND THE NAILS, paint the nails is something emo, right? I bet you paint your nails…”

“Naruto.”

“… Yes, I’m sure that…”

Naruto.

“… Probably…”

Naruto, you’re babbling.”

“Oh, heh, sorry.”

“I don’t have piercings.”

“…”

“…”

“But you didn’t say you didn’t paint your nails, so…”

“Oh, shut up, dobe.”

Naruto laughs.

Sasuke thinks that Naruto’s laughter is the most beautiful thing he’s ever heard before.

.

Naruto also learns that Sasuke’s parents were killed in a fire. He finds out he has a brother. An older brother who is in jail for some reason he doesn’t know. An older brother Sasuke can’t mention without his voice quivering a little. He always seems so upset and disturb talking about his family.

So Naruto tells him his story. He tells him about his scars on his cheeks and how he has been an orphan since he was born. He says that he knows his parents only in photos. He tells him that his mother had the most beautiful red long hair, (that was intense and flaming and bright like fire), and that his father was blond and had blue pure eyes like the sky (and like himself). He tells him that he dreams of them almost every night. He tells him about his grandfather Jiraiya and tells him about how perverted he is and how obsessed he is with Tsunade (his neighbor, who likes gambling and alcohol and is scary when she is upset, but she is also kind and intelligent and gave Naruto a really cool necklace on his birthday). He tells him about the stories that Jiraiya has told him about his parents. He tells him that they were both in the police force and they were excellent and they were killed by a man who is still free out there in the streets. He tells him that he’s proud of him, even if he didn’t know them. He tells him about all the rage that grows and bubbles in his chest, about all that hate that he doesn’t like but it’s still there and doesn’t go away for once. He doesn’t know why he does it, why he says it. He only knows that he wants to make him feel better, that he wants Sasuke to know that he is not alone, that Naruto knows his pain. He wants him to know that it’s okay to talk about his problems. He wants him to know that Naruto is going to listen to him. He wants him to know he cares. He cares so much that it hurts.

And Sasuke does not say anything, but Naruto can feel it through the phone, he can hear his fragile breathing and can almost feel the beating of his heart pounding in his chest. He may feel, in some way, what Sasuke is feeling and he knows that Sasuke feels what he is feeling himself too.

Because Naruto begins to think that Sasuke knows him. He knows him better than anyone else and he understands him, Sasuke understands him as no one else has done it before.

And Naruto has never wanted to meet a person so much before.

.

It’s the middle of December and it’s cold. The sky is pale and beautiful and there’s snow everywhere you turn to see. The trees have no longer leaves and they look old and without so much life like in Spring with all the color spinning in them, but Naruto likes winter too. Or at least, liked winter too until tragic happened.

Sakura is in his bed texting Ino and Naruto looks at her like he’s dying. She looks at him with the corner of her beauty green eyes and makes a face.

“Naruto, stop already, you moron. You’re doing The Face again.”

Naruto rolls over the floor (which it’s also cold as fuck, but he doesn’t care enough, he’s dying) and groans, ”But Sakura…

She puts her phone in her stomach and looks at him upside down at the side of Naruto’s bed. Naruto keeps saying her name and she just sees him like she’s waiting for him to continue.

Naruto does with “he’s visiting me, Sakura, he’s visiting me…

Sakura raises an eyebrow. “Hm? I already know that, you told me yesterday and you keep saying it every two minutes. But what’s the matter?”

Naruto sits right up and gestures at her with exaggerated swings of arms. “What’s the matter? He’s visiting me, that’s the matter!”

She sighs and sits too. She moves to the edge of the bed and pick up her legs just so her chin would be in one of her knees. She looks down at him and titles her head, the pink soft hair falling over on the middle of her face. Naruto always liked Sakura’s hair. It was really pretty when she had it long, but when she cut it out it was even more cool because it was short spiky-type and wild and messy and it was a nice thing. She also has these cute short bangs that don’t cover her forehead (Ino doesn’t allow it) but looks pretty great. “I don’t get it. You look like you are about to die, like something just crash in your favorite thing and broke it. Shit, you almost look like there’s no more ramen in the cupboard, that’s worrying. But you always talked about this guy so much, about how cool he was, and as far as I remember, you also always said how much you wanted to meet him in person and finally can see his face and can hear his voice not just through a phone call. So, then he says to you that he’s coming to the city for the weekend and he wants to see you and instead of being all happy you get all messy about it? Why?

Naruto blinks. “It doesn’t make sense when you explain it like it.”

Sakura rolls her eyes and kicks Naruto with her leg on his shoulder. He pouts at her while touching his arm. “That hurt.”

She ignores him. “It doesn’t make sense the way you look at it Naruto, you’re just being dramatic.”

“I’m not! I want to meet him! It’s just that I don’t want to ruin the things with him! He’s… He’s the best guy I know and I think he really understands me and I really like him and…”

Sakura blinks. “You like him? Like… really like him?”

Naruto stops. He looks at his side because he just can’t meet Sakura’s eyes. She always said that she can read him like a book through his because Naruto’s were so transparent. He doesn’t want her looking at him with pity or something like it. And what was he even supposed to answer? He himself doesn’t know well his feelings. He cares about Sasuke. He cares so much about him that he even spent five hours without getting sleep just thinking if he was fine. Just because he said he had a bad day. He really sounded upset, and Naruto couldn’t stop worrying. He also thinks about him a lot. It is not really his fault, everything in school or on his home remembered him about Sasuke. And he likes him, he really do, he is cool and smart and kind and cares a lot about people, about his friends. He’s an ass too, and arrogant sometimes and likes arguing, but it’s not that bad. Naruto loves that about him too. But does he like him that way? Does he want to actually date Sasuke?

Just the thought of it makes him giddy. Just the idea of it makes his heart races and a warm feeling sink in his throat and all down his stomach. Just thinking about it makes him fuzzy and all tingle in his inner self.

Sakura moves and Naruto sees her all the way getting down the bed and kneeling beside him. She looks at him with kind and tender eyes and reaches to brush his blond hair.

“Aw, Naruto. You blushed.” She mutters, and he’s way too embarrassed, but he knows Sakura is not making fun of him; she talks way too soft for being not real compassionate about him.

Naruto closes his eyes and Sakura mutters something more under her breath that he doesn’t get, but then she’s right there, and her sweet smell is burning his lungs. Sakura’s arms are warm and soft and she’s being understanding and tender and for a moment Naruto remembers why he did like her in the past. He likes her as a sister now, and he thinks about liking Sasuke as his brother… he thinks about being held by Sasuke, being in Sasuke’s arms and telling him all that has been building in his stomach since they start to talk to each other…

No, he definitely didn’t like Sasuke as Sakura. It was different. More intense, more raw and crude, but… somehow sweeter. And no, he definitely didn’t like him as a brother.

“It’s going to be fine, Naruto. Don’t worry about it.”

.

Naruto and Sasuke agree to meet in a place. It is a park from the outskirts of Konoha.

It’s the middle of December, just a few days later Sakura talked to Naruto. It’s cold outside and Naruto is nervous as hell that he can’t even feel his legs, but at the same time, he’s excited.

He’s standing awkwardly out of his house, on the sidewalk, while Sakura is checking on her car (well, Ino’s car, but it’s technically the same thing). Sakura lends him it (because his own old pickup van has chosen to decompose just then) and she indeed offers to take him, because Naruto is so edgy that his hands shake and she assures him that he won’t be able to drive in that mood.

“Everything will be okay, Naruto, just stop with the drama. I’m not bothering you two either. I’m leaving you there until Sasuke arrives, so you don’t have to worry.” Sakura tells him leaning against the car. Her hair is waving around because of the cold wind and her arms are firm crossed in her chest and she looks at him like she always does in situations where he’s like this: like she’s trying to calm him down, but at the same time, she’s so exasperated that she can’t hid it.

“Everything is going to be fine, Naruto.” She repeats, and then she points with her thumb behind her, “so get in the car already and let’s go to meet your prince.”

Naruto blinks wildly. “He’s not…!”

“I’m kidding, you moron.” She giggles. “Just get in the car.”

.

The ride is not so long, but Naruto thinks it is. His hands keep sweating and he has to wipe them in his pants several times. He keeps looking through the window outside, watching at the people and the places, but all it’s too blurry to caught, and he’s feeling fuzzy. He keeps seeing things but he doesn’t recognize them, like it’s the first time he sees it, like this is not his own city. He keeps listening to the music on the radio Sakura just put to calm him down, but it’s not helping, it’s not working.

The air is dense inside the car and his head is spinning and he can’t focus because he’s going to meet Sasuke, he’s going to meet Sasuke in person and oh Holy Ramen, this is happening and…

“Seriously Naruto, he’s going to give you a panic attack, calm down a bit.” Sakura teases. Naruto looks at her and she smiles at him. One of her hands is fixed on the steering wheel but the other moves and pats his shoulder carefully. “Everything will be fine.”

And Naruto wants to think that, he really wants, but the way his heart hits against his chest is erratic and discordant and it hurts, and he can’t concentrate in anything else besides Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke, and the way his disturbed heartbeat remembers him of his name.

Yes, the ride seems definitely too long.

.

When they get to the park, they are practically alone, mostly because of the cold weather, but Naruto doesn’t notice. There are people walking on the sidewalk and Naruto gets out of the car with his legs feeling like water. Gelid air hits his face and his cheeks numb.

“Do you want me to get out of the car with you?”

Naruto thinks for a second it is a good idea, because he can’t calm down, but he doesn’t want to bother Sakura more, so he tries to smile convinced at her (though he’s dying slowly inside) and says, “No, I’m fine.”

Sakura smiles back at him from the car and gives him a thumb up. Her eyes are sweet when she says, “’kay, good luck! I’m leaving you here, call me if you need me!” She’s about to go when she seems to remember something. “Oh! And Naruto?”

“… Yes?”

“It’s going to be alright. Believe me. And if it something that makes you feel better, I’m sure he feels the same way as you.”

Naruto blinks. “… Sa— kura?”

She smiles. “Bye! I’m greeting Ino for you!”

Naruto waves at her and sees all the way while she gets away. The car is a red point in the street when Naruto finally starts to walk to the meeting point.

It is supposed to be there, just right at the swings area. But there is no one there, just two kids, and Naruto does know Sasuke it’s just a year older than him, so he’s none of them.

Naruto looks at his cell phone for the hour. It’s 2:27 pm. Three minutes left for the agreed time.

Ok, he’s in time. Sasuke is in time too. So there’s nothing to worry about.

He stands there and waits, playing with his hands (mostly because they can’t stop sweating, dammit) and trying to breathe normally enough.

Three minutes pass. He watches at the people going from here to there, and the kids playing around. Everything seems too normal to be such an important day.

Ten more minutes go by.

Five more and Naruto is ready to get his phone from his pocket and call Sakura to pick him up in the car and flee because he is so nervous, he’s so on the edge that he feels like he is going to explode and all Sasuke is going to find is a deformed liquid spot on the ground along with all the snow. And that would definitely be more embarrassing than…

“Hn. So you’re really blond.”

… Holy fuck.

Oh.

Oh.

OH.

That voice.

Sasuke…

That voice…

Sasuke.

Sasuke is there, Sasuke is there.

God, Naruto’s heart is pounding so hard on his chest that he thinks it’s going to come out between his ribs.

Naruto turns around on his heels, his breath stirring white smoke in front of his face. He turns and Sasuke is… there. He’s right there and… wow.

Just.

Wow.

Sasuke is…

Is…

Gorgeous.

His hair is jet-black, dark as the sky on a starless night. It is short and sharp from behind and has a cut that should be funny but in him has a great fit. He has bangs, they are long and frame his face by the sides till the level of his lips. Naruto has the impression that one of them would cover one of his eyes if there was no wind that shakes it weakly against his forehead. His hair is messy and looks soft and beautiful. His skin is pale and contrasts with the intense color of his hair. His eyes are just as dark as his hair, so deep and looking at him as if he were the only thing in the world that was worth focusing on. His lips are thin and composed in a half mocking smile. His posture is casual and composed, as if it isn’t the first time they have meet; as if none of this is something that makes Naruto turn from head to toe, upside down; as if it isn’t the thing having Naruto on edge with nerves, and the feelings burning on the surface of his skin.

His face is sharp, all thin angles and high cheekbones, contrasting and extreme colors, ranging from the purest to the darkest, and God, everything in him is so impressive.

“Are you going to stand there staring at me all day?” Sasuke raises an eyebrow. His lips tug a little higher and his voice tinges with a mocking tone. God, his voice

Naruto feels his cheeks burn. He smiles awkwardly and runs a hand through his hair. Sasuke’s eyes follow the movement of his fingers between the golden strands until they fall behind.

Naruto scratches his neck and laughs nervously.

“It’s just…” He starts, but then stops because, “I’m not staring! I’m definitely not staring!” He bursts out, his frown in a line. Deep inside he knows he’s lying, but he can’t let Sasuke know that. Sasuke smiles a little, condescending, but his eyebrow stays high, like saying “sure, whatever you say” and “but I don’t believe you at all, moron”.

Naruto looks at his side because if he keeps seeing him, he will start staring and his cheeks are already burning, so no, he doesn’t want to combust. “Um, you’re just a little different from how I imagined you were, it’s all.”

Sasuke’s eyes drop to meet his eyes (God, his eyes), and Naruto has to contain himself to avoid panting loudly, because Holy Ramen…

His eyebrow rises even higher. There’s a subtle shit-eating grin growing on his lips and Naruto thinks he’s going to die. “Did you imagine what I look like? Hn, and I thought you weren’t so obsessed with me.”

Naruto opens his eyes, wide, and blinks. “You… you cocky bastard! I’m not obsessed with you! I didn’t mean… I mean, yes, I asked myself several times how you would look like but… I mean, it’s not like I’m thinking about your appearance all the time or…”

Sasuke makes a little noise in the back of his throat. His eyes are glued to Naruto and he looks funny, as if Naruto’s suffering and clumsiness amused him.

Naruto closes his lips in a tight line and looks away. The blush on his cheeks has begun to spread, because he can feel the heat tingling in his neck and the tip of his ears. The fact that he can feel Sasuke’s intense stare stuck on him doesn’t help.

And suddenly everything is silent and Naruto feels silly and stupid and…

“Usuratonkachi.” Sasuke’s voice is soft, so soft, and the way he says it is as if he’s saying “idiot” with his eyes blank and a wry smile on his face.

Naruto opens his eyes, because he has to see his face, he has to, and when he turns his head again, Sasuke is looking right at him, his hands in his pockets and his hair falling gently on his face. God, Naruto needs to concentrate, every time he looks at him it’s like he gets lost in his head and mind.

“You’re not very different from how I thought. You’re really blond, you look like you don’t know what a comb is, and your face looks stupid…”

Naruto chokes. There is something inside him that rages, although it is not anger, it is almost… expectation. But there is something else. Something else than the adrenaline that runs through his blood when they fight.

“You— jerk…!”

“And you have a lousy sense of fashion, orange is a horrible color. I have no idea why it is your favorite color…”

“As if blue was better, idiot! Orange is the coolest, brightest and most cheerful color of all!”

Sasuke rolls his eyes at his childish outburst and continues, “And you have tanned skin, I imagined that. Your eyes are clearer than I thought, though…”

“Well, yours are darker than I expected. Not that I’m complaining, I’m just impress.”

Sasuke continues like if there hadn’t been interruptions. “I never thought you’d have blond eyelashes, it’s… well, not bad… I’ve never met anyone before you that had the eyelashes of that color… and it’s quite…”

Naruto is about to insult him with something (although he is not quite sure what to say, because everything in him is impossible to insult; everything in him is so wonderful, dammit), but then he is silent, because Sasuke tilts his head to one side, his hair falling like a silken curtain of dark strands, and stretches a hand toward Naruto’s face and oh my goodness, Sasuke’s hand is right in front of him and…

Oh.

The scars.

Sasuke’s hand is incredibly warm against his cold skin. His fingers pass over the lines carefully, with fragile, feathery touches, and his skin is so soft

And Sasuke doesn’t say anything, but his eyes are completely focused on his cheeks and in them there’s something completely indecipherable for Naruto. They look sad and angry and hurt and careful, all at once.

And then Sasuke takes a step forward (which means he’s closer, when he was already close enough) and Naruto can distinguish the way his long eyelashes rub against the white skin of his cheeks. And suddenly it’s like his senses are overloaded because he can feel everything. He is hyper aware of Sasuke’s fingertips, which make his skin tingle wherever they touch him, which despite the cold weather seem to carry the fire along with them, because they awaken overwhelming heat beneath his skin. He can feel the dense, charged air around him and between them, as if there were sparkling electricity flying and catapulting into volutes and dissenting spirals. He can distinguish the soft Sasuke’s smell (apples and grass). He can even hear his breath and suddenly everything revolves around him.

His heart is hammering madly in his chest and his ears are buzzing and there is something beating in his throat, something that is alive and fluttering. The sky behind them is silver and purple, and the clouds are fluffy speckles of white and gray, and Sasuke looks like a star standing there, so bright and so remarkable and outstanding

Then Sasuke’s eyes meet his own and he’s staring at him and it’s like everything around him is alive. It is like everything inside him is moving and shouting to get out. It’s like standing on the edge of a cliff and looking down and thinking you’re going to fall. It’s like the sound of a storm. Everything is wild and alive and Naruto does not know what he is doing, his body moves on autopilot…

His hand reaches out and Naruto can see his own fingers tremble as he carefully removes one of Sasuke’s bangs from his face.

Sasuke’s eyes open wide, and then he opens his mouth and he’s saying something, he’s talking, but Naruto doesn’t listen, because there are waves that beat against his ears and everything sounds like the sea.

And then he pushes forward and their lips collide and… and just wow.

Sasuke’s breath stalls in his throat audibly and Naruto can hear it. His lips are warm and soft (so, so, so soft) and Naruto can’t help but think how much he wants this. How much he wanted this, how long he had been waiting for this without even knowing it.

Sasuke makes a shocked little noise in the back of his throat as Naruto pushes forward but he doesn’t back down, and Naruto can feel the way his eyelashes sweep into his own skin when his eyes close (they tickle him). He can feel him relax in an instant when Naruto’s fingers move back and pull the strands of hair behind his ear. He can hear him sigh shakily as the tips of his fingers intermingle with his hair on the back of his head. And then Sasuke’s hand is on his shirt and his fingers squeeze tightly against the cloth and he is pulling Naruto towards him.

Everything is fuzzy and hot and damp and soft and so good. Naruto has one hand firmly behind Sasuke’s head to keep him from pulling away and the other reaches to take Sasuke’s free hand. His fingers intertwine and embolden like gears as his mouths move one against another languidly, as his lips glide lazily and unhurriedly.

And then Sasuke’s hand moves, the tips of his fingers leaving electricity sticking to Naruto’s skin as they touch him, and suddenly it is in his hair, behind his head. He pull his head back, enough to make their lips separate a few millimeters. Sasuke’s breathing is altered and quick and shaky and he seems to be desperate for air. Naruto can feel his unsteady breathing pounding against his bulging cheeks and is proud of it. He doesn’t care if his own is the same or worse because Sasuke is this way, he’s like this for him.

The kiss was so good, everything was so good, and Naruto is about to ask why they stopped, but then Sasuke is pulling Naruto back forward and his lips are crashing again and he doesn’t have time to ask. This time Sasuke opens his lips and seems more desperate than before. His hands pull Naruto’s hair and his lips stick to Naruto’s as if they were his source of life.

And they continue like this. They kiss and kiss and kiss. They pause to breathe and their lips meet again after a few seconds as if they were attracted like magnets and metal.

They kiss and kiss and kiss and Sasuke’s hands are on his hair and his face and his shoulders and his neck and on the top of his shirt, touching everything as if he wanted to remember every inch. And he looks so altered, so out of place, and Naruto thinks he’s about to faint, because he put Sasuke like this, the stoic Sasuke so out of control, of composure, and that drives him crazy.

He feels drunk. Dizzy. Everything is spinning around him and there is nothing more than Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke.

There is nothing more than Sasuke and his hands and his lips and his skin and his hair. Everything is him and he is soft and cold and hot and he loves it.

They kiss and kiss and kiss until Naruto’s lips are swollen. They kiss until the sky behind them is dark and both are numb from the cold. They kiss until Sasuke’s hairstyle is ruined and until his lips hurt (in the best way).

And when they separated, Naruto has the forehead against Sasuke’s.

Sasuke is looking at him with misty eyes, as if he had just woken from a dream, and he looks so beautiful and precious and Naruto wants to kiss him again. Their breaths mingle and their hearts beat in unison against their chests.

Sasuke’s cheeks are flushed and, although it could because of the cold, Naruto knows it’s for something else and that makes him smile.

There is something warm and tender and soft and alive that continues to flutter in his chest and throat and it hurts, it hurts so much but in a good kind of way, and it makes him feel good and giddy. Reminds him why he is alive.

Sasuke makes him feel that way.

Alive. Wild. In peace.

Happy.

Sasuke’s eyes have a million emotions reflected in them when the mist curtain is extinguished (not at all, but enough) and Naruto wonders if his eyes are as transparent and stormy and crazy as his. By the way Sasuke is looking at him he thinks they are.

And then Sasuke smiles. It is weak and fragile and soft and small, but it is a smile, and it is there, and Naruto smiles wider.

Sasuke is beautiful. Inside an out.

And he can’t stop looking at him.

And maybe his gaze is too intense because Sasuke’s cheeks color grows as he closes his eyes and murmurs, “Usuratonkachi. Stop looking at me like that. I have a reputation to keep.”

And Naruto laughs. He laughs and Sasuke smiles even wider, because Naruto’s laugh could give world peace and could cure cancer. Because Naruto’s laugh is beautiful and Naruto makes him happy.

Because both of them are happy there.

Because they both know what love is without having even seen the other in person before.

Because both fell in love with words so intensely that the feeling couldn’t be extinguished.

Because everything is beautiful and lovely and perfect.

anonymous asked:

hey, could you explain what happened in Vegas betweet zayn and liam?

What happened? That’s a really good question.
Basically Zayn ignored Liam throughout the concert, AND THIS IS SOMETHING because Zayn never ignores Liam.

Look at the other concerts

But in Vegas something happened. Zayn didn’t touch Liam, he didn’t even try to look in his direction despite Liam’s pleading eyes. (How did he even manage to resist those puppy eyes?)

So yeah, Zayn was angry. And he was angry with Liam, ‘cause he behaved normally with the other three boys.

Did Liam do something wrong? Maybe, we can’t know for sure, but that same morning Liam and Zayn were fine at the meet and greet.
Though during the day something clearly irritated Zayn and he ended up arguing with Paul.

(btw he’s being cornered by two big guys, that’s only my supposition, but I think they were trying to stop him from doing something dumb, trying to reason with him, even if he didn’t want to)
Anyway he was so upset that he skipped dinner while the other boys went to Gordon Ramsay’s steakhouse

When the concert started Zayn was still upset, he tried to behave normally with the others, but totally ignored Liam.
Also, the weird thing is that his hand was perfectly fine at the beginning of the day, but

again, what happened? Did he punch something? Someone? We’ll never know (ugh)

So, the interesting point which connects everything is that Danielle was there.
Our guess is that nobody expected this, or at least Zayn didn’t expect to find her there. Maybe it was a last moment decision or maybe he was the only one who didn’t know that and didn’t take the news very well.

(I swear I can picture him softly punching Liam and yelling: WHAT DOES SHE DO HERE? WHY IS SHE HERE?) (it’s no secret that Zayn clearly didn’t like her)

Anyhow the boys knew what was going on, and they tried to fix it, changing their usual position and making Zayn and Liam squeeze against each other

wow, good plan guys, how evil

but you failed

Anyway, Zayn and Liam clarified (maybe that same night after sending away Danielle) and the day after everything was fine.

Full credit to @butteredonions for the inspiration for the backstory to this piece (sorry about the delay, Onions!)

“You used to be my hero, you know. It took a long time to let go of that image.”

Lance says it with a little laugh, head tilted towards the stars. Shiro turns his gaze away. He’d ask why they didn’t send Keith, but he figures he knows. This is his punishment. Turning a weapon on a guest isn’t very paladin-like — isn’t very heroic.

“Bet I helped with that,” he says.

12.20 coda

Max’s eyes get this predatory gleam in them when he looks down into the Impala. Big guns; they’ve always impressed people. It’s a look Dean recognizes in his own face, the same youth-bright passion for really cool shit. He can’t help smirking a bit as he watches Max lean over the trunk.

“So. Bartender’s number, huh?” Dean says.

Max smirks too, still drinking in the Impala’s arsenal in all her splendor. “Oh yeah. Got a date tonight, in fact. Wouldn’t mind showing him the backseat of this baby,” he purrs.

Dean blinks. “Him?”

Max straightens, frowns at him. “Uh, yeah,” he scoffs. “Problem?”

Dean shakes his head, so fast that the world tips on its side for a minute. “Just making conversation,” he coughs.

Max still looks kind of hesitant, though. He takes a step back from Dean and ducks his head to inspect the rims.

Dean watches the back of his head as he does. Young guy, sister that loves him and sticks with him, a mother he adores and doesn’t have to worry about so much. A hot dude bartender’s number.

Dean swallows past a sudden lump in his throat.

This is everything I could have had.

Pairing: Jimin x reader
Words: 7,760
Genre: smut, angst, supernatural au.
click here for warnings by part (potential spoilers).

When playing the lying game, there are but two rules. The first is to be convincing. Live the lie, breathe the lie, believe it so wholeheartedly it becomes your new truth. The second is to always remember there are other players in the game, some of whom have been playing it far longer than you.

Time always seemed to go slowly for you. It has always consisted of a lot of waiting, searching, and more waiting. Waiting for leads, waiting for information, waiting for days to turn into weeks, into months, into years. Every day began to seem the same, and the most exciting moments have been those when you’re risking your life. Kind of fucked up, but true.

Recently, though, this has changed. Jimin has changed everything. Somehow, time has passed in a blur of meet ups, of laughter, of actually leaving the safety of the church and experiencing the things the world has to offer. Jimin makes you see the beauty in the mundane and take a look at things you’ve experienced hundreds of times through a different set of eyes. Suddenly, just walking in silence takes on a whole new meaning with him beside you, or even popping by a fast food joint becomes a billion times more interesting as you watch him dunk his french fries into a milkshake (a strange combination that he has tried to make you enjoy, but failed).

Time both seems to go too slow when you’re apart and too fast when you’re together. One instance, you were both talking until the early hours of the morning at his place, only realizing the time at 4AM. You stayed the night, sleeping in his guest room, just a few steps away from his bedroom. You didn’t get any sleep, of course, despite how incredibly comfortable the bed was. He offered to drive you “home” (a fake address to an apartment just across town from him), but you insisted on walking. Your mind buzzed the entire way home, trying to understand what this new friendship meant and how it would affect your mission to avenge your parents. You’ve been distracted, but you’re enjoying it. Possibly more than you should. You’ve been making stupid, half thought through decisions, and there’s no room for those kinds of mistakes in a life like yours.

Mistake number one manifested as a mobile phone. A cheap one from the grocery store, but a phone nonetheless. You’ve never had one and you wouldn’t have the first clue how to use it, but you bought it on a whim. The realization of what you’d done hit you when you were driving back to the church and were struck with distraught feelings you’ve never felt before. How could you be so reckless? Just for a boy? The two of you have gotten along just fine without calling or texting, there’s no need to change anything now. Jimin understood your ‘explanation’ for not owning a phone. You’d justified it with a “It just makes me feel too connected. People used to get by just fine without them. There are so many beautiful things to experience in the world, I don’t want to miss any of it because of some dumb little screen.” Sure, the excuse sounds a bit lame, but there must be people out there who think that way and genuinely do wish to escape the crazy technological world.

Nothing bad happened as a result of your rash decision, but you did drive all the way back to town and leave the phone, along with twenty dollars, beside a sleeping figure in the park.

Hoseok returns from his trip after four weeks, bearing new supplies, weapons, but no information. You want to tell him about Jimin right away, but you’re not sure what his reaction will be. And a part of you wants to keep this as something that’s just yours, just for a little longer. You’re okay with sharing everything with Hoseok, but you know that the moment you do, this thing with Jimin becomes reality. It’ll become something you have to discuss and understand in terms of The Bigger Picture, and you’re not quite ready for that yet.

You’re sure that Hoseok suspects something. Of course he does. There’s no other reason for you to be away so long and then not share what happened or what you did. Hoseok isn’t stupid. But you appreciate that he’s giving you time to come to terms with everything before telling him. You do know, however, that you can’t wait forever. Eventually Hoseok will confront you about what’s going on, and you’ll have to tell him, but for now any confessions are on your terms. You promise yourself that you’ll tell him within the next month. You just need a little longer to pretend that Jimin and your world are completely disconnected, to just enjoy being with him without worrying about the what ifs. Whenever your thoughts stray towards those what ifs, you can’t stop thinking about them. There is no way you can continue to see Jimin and lead your own secret life. You either have to find a way to reconcile the two, or decide which to give up.

Jimin asks about your family one day while the two of you are playing Monopoly (a game you’ve learned to kick his ass in, and he’s complained that he “never should have taught you how to play this dumb game”) and you tell him the truth. Or at least as much of the truth as you can.

“My mom and dad were absolutely amazing. I always felt so loved and special because of them, as any kid should. They were the best parents in the world.” You shake the dice in your hands and let them clatter on the board, knocking over one of your houses in the process. “Then again, everyone thinks their parents are the best. But, god, were they in love. Something in the air just changed whenever they looked at eachother. I always hoped that I would someday be able to experience love like that.”

“Are they…?”

"Dead? Yeah. They passed away when I was small,” you say as you move your piece up five steps, right onto one of his squares with a hotel on it. “Damn it.” Handing him an obscene amount of money notes, you continue. “I was taken in by someone who had known the family for years and I couldn’t be more grateful to him for everything he’s done for me.” Technically Hoseok had known about your family, just not in a positive way. But Jimin doesn’t need to know that.

“There still are some good people left in the world… I’m so sorry about your parents, Sooyoung.”

You shake your head and avoid his eyes, feeling ashamed for the way you still have to conceal the truth from him. Every time he calls you Sooyoung you try to ignore the guilt that gnaws at your heart for continuing to lie to him. “It’s okay, I had to accept the way things were a long time ago. You learn to live and let go.” Another lie. You try to shift the subject away from you and your lying ass. “What about you? What’s your family like?”

This time he glances down, throwing the dice, a bit harder than he usually does so one rolls underneath your leg. You lift it to reveal a three then move it to the centre of the board.

“Complicated is the best way to put it, I guess. Dad's… Dad. Sorry, that doesn’t make sense. When I used to live with him he’d be so busy that he’d rarely be home, and when he was he never really seemed to be there. But it’s fine. Like you, I accepted the way things were a long time ago and moved the hell out as soon as I could. I think I turned out just fine, despite everything.”

“Yeah, you’re not too bad,” you say, which earns you a smile. “How are things with your mom?”

You wish you could take the question back the moment you see his face fall. He tries to cover it, acting like the question doesn’t hit him somewhere in his heart where it aches like a splinter lodged too deep to pull out, but you notice anyway. You learned to read people’s expressions, no matter how subtle, a long time ago.

“She’s not around anymore. I see her every now and then, but she doesn’t live with us.”

“I’m sorry, Jimin.”

He forces a smile, which only breaks your heart even more. “Life happens, right?” He holds up a card in his hand, indicating the discussion is over. “'Make general repairs on all your property. For each house pay $25, for each hotel pay $100.’ Fuck this game.”

When you finally go home, you decide it’s time to tell Hoseok. For the first time in a while you’re actually nervous to divulge something to him. He can tell. The moment you step foot into the bunker, he takes a look at you and sits down on the couch, eyeing you carefully. He doesn’t speak, waiting for you to go first. You don’t sit down, instead you pace around the room, chewing your lip. He was clearly working on something since there are books strewn across the room, papers piled on the table.

You’re afraid to voice your thoughts because once you start, you might not stop. All the way home, you kept thinking about what it might be like to live a life where playing Monopoly with Jimin could be some weekly ritual, where you could take him to meet Hoseok without having to lie about where you live and just about every other aspect of your life. You kept thinking about what it might feel like to be normal and to not have any what ifs. To be able to see Jimin and not worry about maybe having to say goodbye to him forever out of fear that he might get killed or you might neglect him because of your mission. You wondered what it would be like to live a life where you could truly open your heart to someone without constantly waiting for it to be shattered.

Finally, you just blurt it out.

“I met someone.”

Hoseok nods, but again doesn’t speak.

“We met in the woods, while you were away. He was lost, and I know that the right thing to do would have been to bail, but I just couldn’t.” You struggle to find the words to explain to him why you didn’t turn around and follow your instincts. You’ve been trained for this. There have been one too many times when you’ve had to turn around and leave someone behind, regardless of how much you wanted to stay and help. You’ve overridden that urge that makes people human. There was even an instance when you had to leave Hoseok behind. It ripped you apart, abandoning him when he was hurt. But he made you leave, and thankfully survived. If you could somehow leave Hoseok behind, you should be able to leave anyone else. And yet, with Jimin you couldn’t. If you could have re-done that whole situation again, you’re sure that you would still do the same thing. You would stay.

“I’m tired, Hobi,” you finally admit. “I’m tired of hiding away and not experiencing the things people my age have probably experienced a billion times already. I love you and I love spending time with you, but, I just wanted to know what it might feel like to have someone in my life who isn’t family and who I don’t live with.”

Hoseok is smiling, which confuses the hell out of you. This is not how you expected him to react. “What? What did I say?”

He shakes his head and pats the space beside him, prompting you to sit down. This time you do. “You look like you’re waiting for me to get angry,” he says. “I’m not, not even a little bit. You were bound to want more than the life you have at some point. I’m happy you met someone.”

You struggle for words in your stupour. This is not the way you imagined things going. “You’re happy? Aren’t you worried?”

“I know you, Y/N. You have good instincts, so I trust you. I’ve been hoping this day would come for a while now. You deserve more of a life than this church can offer you. Get out there and make some mistakes. That’s life.”

You raise your eyebrows. “Make some mistakes?”

He laughs. “I don’t mean blow our cover. I mean mistakes that any other average human being would make. People learn best from the dumb things they do. All I ask is that you be careful, alright?”

“Yeah, of course, I haven’t told him about any of this,” you gesture around the bunker, “Or about–”

“Not just that,” he interrupts, gently. “Be careful with your heart. No matter what, you need to put yourself first. If anything ever feels wrong, trust your gut. You’re smart, you’ll know what’s right or wrong. Don’t allow yourself to be pressured into anything you’re uncomfortable with, and don’t let yourself be treated in any way you don’t deserve.”

“Okay, I promise to be careful. But just so you know, Jimin isn’t like that. I can tell. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt me.”

Hoseok rests a hand on your arm gently. “At the end of the day, each and every one of us is capable of anything. All of us have secrets, and all of us have flaws. Just keep that in mind. But, you know, don’t forget to have fun. Be careful, but allow yourself to let go. You’ve more than earned it.”

You put your hand over his and give it a squeeze. “Thanks, Hobi.”

The conversation gives you a new sense of strength, and just for a second, you allow yourself to believe that maybe everything will work out.

Three days after your talk with Hoseok, you wait outside the building of your fake address, anxious to see Jimin. The conversation with Hoseok has made you even more excited to see him. The two of you had worked out a solution to you not owning a phone, so that if a meet up didn’t work out, you would see eachother the next day in the same place at the same time. Neither of you have ever had to flake on set plans, but it’s nice to have a backup nonetheless.

Jimin is late. He’s never late, which means that you always have to come much earlier so he doesn’t suspect that you don’t actually live here. The apartment you chose has a key code, which means that there’s no way he can actually come inside unless you let him in. Which also means that he’s less likely to find out that you don’t live here. To find out the code to let you in, you tagged behind someone who lives in the apartment and dug around in your bag as though searching for your keys, all the while watching them enter in the code before slipping inside. They were even kind enough to hold the door open for you to let you in. Some people are just too helpful for their own good.

You scan the area, trying to spot Jimin’s familiar face, but he’s nowhere in sight. Ten minutes pass, fifteen, twenty, then thirty. You bob up and down on your feet, getting more and more restless by the second.

Eventually you have to accept that he’s not coming. You ignore the dejected feeling in your chest and remind yourself that sometimes life happens. You’ll see him tomorrow and everything will be fine.

You drive home and suppress the urge to drive back and keep waiting. Maybe he’ll come. Maybe he got held up, but planned on coming anyway, just in case you were still there. You don’t turn back. You have your own stuff to do anyway. You have to respect yourself enough to remember that before him, you did have a life. Maybe it wasn’t much of a life, but you still had one. You can’t just throw all of that away just for one person. You can’t constantly be waiting around and putting everything else on pause. That’s not healthy.

So you drive home and greet Hoseok, who you hadn’t seen in the morning before leaving since he was out tending the garden (you assume that’s where he was). He looks a bit surprised to see you back early, but doesn’t question it. The two of you are going to have to adjust to the idea of you seeing people. After so many years of it being just the two of you, this is totally new. Or at least to you it is. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that Hoseok has been around for much longer than you. Before this, he probably had friends and hobbies. He probably didn’t spend all of his time watching his back and watching yours for good measure. Every time you remember this, your heart swells both with sadness for the past life he gave up for you, but also swells with immense gratitude that you will never be able to properly express to him. You hope that after this he is able to live life the way he deserves. To surround himself with people who bring as much light to the world as he does, rather than have to extinguish that flame in the underground bunker day in and day out purely to keep you safe. The older you get – the more time that passes without enough progress – the more guilty you feel for holding him back. But you have to remind yourself that you’re not forcing him to stay, that he’s an adult capable of making his own decisions, and sticking around to help you kick butt was the one he made. You wouldn’t hold it against him for a second if he decided he wanted more than what this life has to offer.

“You busy?” You ask.

He closes the book on selkies he was reading. “Nope, what’s up?”

“Is it okay if we train for a bit? I’m feeling a bit rusty.”

“Yeah, of course. Inside or outside?”

“Outside.”

You both change into more comfortable clothing, grab a blindfold (which is really just a strip of black cloth from one of your old shirts) and head out of the bunker. You need to release some energy and get some training in since you’ve been missing out on it recently because of how much time you spend with Jimin.

There’s a slight chill in the air and you hug your arms around yourself to conserve heat, but you know that after a while of sparring you’ll be warm enough to forget about the cold.

You make way into the forest, to a spot just far enough from the road that if anyone is passing by they won’t hear anything and come looking. When you practice shooting, you go even further. The risk is small, but it’s easier to talk precautions than to try to explain what you’re doing to a complete stranger.

“You wanna do it blindfolded?” He gestures to the cloth in your hand. Every now and then you remain blindfolded while sparring Hoseok, in order to try to hear him before he comes at you. Sometimes it goes okay, but usually you end up on your ass and with ten new bruises on your body. But you keep doing it, because no matter how good you get, you will always be at a disadvantage if you’re up against a supernatural being. There’s only so much your human body can do, so you need to be able to predict your opponent’s moves before they’ve even finished thinking them through. You need to be one step ahead in a dance where you’re always three steps behind. The blindfold isn’t completely opaque, but it’s dark enough that it feels like it’s night time, and all figures are nothing more than silhouettes.

“Yeah, I’m a bit out of practice. Could you use your abilities today? Please?”

He deliberates, silence hanging between you, before he finally concedes. “Alright. Tell me to stop the second it gets too much.” You nod and tie the blindfold around your eyes, plunging the world into darkness. You steel yourself for what’s to come, your nerves already in overdrive from anticipation. You would trust Hoseok with your life, but that doesn’t make experiencing his abilities any more pleasant.

“Do your worst,” you say, lifting your balled fists and shifting your feet so you’re ready to spring at him at any second. You listen carefully for footsteps padding over grass, the snap of a twig, a breath against your ear. It’s not enough to hear, it’s important to pinpoint where the noise is coming from and act.

There’s a light crunch behind you and you whip around, swinging but making no contact. Another sounds just nearby you, but again nothing. Sometimes Hoseok fools you and makes you think he’s somewhere where he isn’t, which is infuriating, but keeps you on your toes. The bad guys aren’t going to stop when you tell them to stop.

Something in your gut tells you he’s to your left, like that burning feeling you get when you know somebody is watching you, so you target a blow in that direction and strike Hoseok. Your body buzzes with adrenaline and you feel proud of yourself for being right about your hunch, but this is no time to get distracted, so you let your body react, punching and blocking while shuffling back and forth across the forest floor. He may have the advantage of sight, but you’re the better fighter so you’re faster, albeit slightly clumsy. Just when you think you might overpower him, he invades your mind and tears down your defenses. You fight him, remembering all the lessons from before, just barely managing to throw up walls before he crashes through them.

And then it stops.

A thud and a groan follow, and you promptly tear the blindfold off, squinting as your eyes adjust back to the light. Then you see red. Red everywhere. Your hands are covered in blood, Hoseok lying at your feet, his face deformed and wounded, hand pressed tightly against the spreading scarlet on his shirt.

“What the hell did you do to me?” he chokes out.

You completely forget about the training. “Hoseok, what–”

“You did this to me.” His face contorts in pain and you drop to your knees to pull his hand away, to assess the damage so you can help him, but he swats you away. "You did this.” he keeps saying.

“Hobi, no,” you say, heart pounding in your chest. “Please let me help you. You’re bleeding.”

He laughs, humourlessly. “So are they.”

You don’t want to turn around, but you do, and you suck in a sharp breath at the sight before you. Your mother and father lie lifeless on the cold ground, clothing drenched in their own blood. Almost the entirety of your father’s skin has been badly burned, but you’d recognize him anywhere. A sob lodges itself in your throat, but you can’t lose it or else you’ll never gather yourself again.

“Wh-what happened?” You crawl over to them and shake them desperately. Maybe this time they won’t leave you. Maybe this time you’ll have a chance to actually save them. Something twinges in the back of your mind that this isn’t right, something is off here, and you’re just about to grasp reality again when you hear another groan further away, and your body goes ice cold.

Jimin is drawing in painful, heavy breaths, but he’s still standing. Blood blooms across his green sweater and he looks at you with so much hatred it makes your insides curl. “You did this. You killed us all.”

You stumble over to him but he steps back, holding up a hand to prevent you from coming any closer. “Don’t come near me. You’re a liar. This entire time. A cold-blooded killer. I wish I’d never met you. None of this would be happening if not for you.” He takes another step back and falls over, wincing at the way his body hits the ground. You ignore his protests and crouch beside him, trying to push his sweater aside to prevent the bleeding, but he fights against you, repeating over and over that this is because of you, just like Hoseok had.

“You know,” Jimin begins, his voice strained, “It’s a shame the Alpha didn’t get you too. Would’ve spared us all. He should have gotten your parents and you.”

The words cut deep in a place you never knew you could ache before. Your entire body begins to tremble, but you’re not sure from what. Fear, maybe. Anger. If he were anyone else, they would be dead within a heartbeat for saying something like that, but instead you pull off your top and press it against the wound. Blood quickly stains the cloth and you know there’s not much longer left for him. You scream for help, praying that for once there might be somebody nearby with a phone to call an ambulance. You scream and scream while Jimin laughs, his face growing paler by the second.

“You couldn’t save your parents, what makes you think you could save me?”

“I won’t let you die. I won’t let anyone else die because of me,” you say, your body trembling even more now.

And then he’s gone. They’re all gone and you’re on your knees, hands completely clean, hovering in the air where they were touching Jimin just seconds ago. Reality always takes time to come back to you, but this time you lost yourself more than you usually do, and so the divide between truth and illusion doesn’t come back as fast as it should. Jimin was right here, dying in front of you, and he wanted nothing to do with you. None of them did.

“Y/N,” Hoseok rushes to your side and you startle, staring at him. He’s unwounded, safe. Alive. “Y/N, I’m here. I got you.”

It takes you a second to realize that everything was part of the hallucination, that nothing that just transpired was real. The relief hits you like a freight train, but another feeling gnaws at your stomach because you can’t help but wonder if maybe there was some truth to your nightmare.

“Why did you stop?”

Hoseok is looking at you with so much concern and you don’t understand why. Eventually you would have figured out what was going on and the practice could have continued. Your body hadn’t reached its maximum limit, not even by a little bit. But Hoseok doesn’t answer, instead pulls you to him and holds you so gently like you might shatter from the slightest amount of pressure. It’s only then that you realize you’re crying. He keeps you safely enclosed in his arms, only letting go when your body cools down and starts shivering from the cold.

“Come on,” he says, lifting you up slowly and guiding you back to the church. He keeps a hand against your back the entire way, and you’re sure that if it weren’t there, you would probably fall apart.

Once indoors, you get in the shower and turn the heat up high so its almost scalding. You scrub at yourself vigorously, trying to erase the memory clinging to your skin of what had happened. Or didn’t happen. Your skin is rubbed red and raw when you emerge, but it still doesn’t feel like enough. There might not be any blood on your hands, but you can still feel it, coating your skin like the remorse festering in your heart.

Hoseok holds out a cup of chamomile tea once you get out and you accept it gratefully.

“How are you feeling?” He asks.

You shrug, sitting down on the floor, back against the wall.

“I’m so sorry, Y/N.” Hoseok drops his gaze in shame. “I should have said no-”

“Hobi, stop,” you intercede. “I asked. It’s okay. We both knew it wouldn’t end well. I don’t know what happened out there, usually I’m in more control than that. It’s not your fault, it’s mine. I’m sorry if you felt pressured into something you didn’t want to do, though. I know you don’t like using your abilities, I’m sorry you had to do that."

"I’ll dial it back next time.” You know even that was tame for what he can do, but you don’t say anything. “Do you want to talk about what you saw?”

You set the tea down on the floor and take a deep breath, closing your eyes. The last thing you want to do is think about what you saw, but talking it out does help sometimes. Sometimes you just need to be alone to grieve. Usually you try talking it out, something Hoseok has encouraged you many times to do so whatever is bothering you doesn’t keep chipping away at you so there’s more to work through than there needs to be.

"The usual. But it was different this time. Jimin was there too.“ Your cheeks heat up admitting this and you’re not quite ready to ponder over the depth of what it means that he was there too. "There was blood, everywhere. I think-I think I did it. I don’t know. You all kept saying I did. That it was my fault.” Emotion swells in your throat again and you clear it forcefully, unwilling to cry yet again. Crying is good, but you don’t like the gross, puffy feeling that comes afterward that lingers for hours on end. “Maybe you were right, to an extent. Or at least, Jimin was right. He called me a liar. He called me lots of things, actually. And deny it as much as I want, I am lying to him, every single day. What if one of these days he finds out? Or what if one of my lies catches up to me and hurts him? What then?”

Hoseok sits down in front of you and takes your hands. Somehow, Hoseok still has a response to put you at ease, just like always. “You can never predict who is going to get hurt in this world, so you just… Have to trust yourself. Let yourself live a little. Sometimes… Sometimes people are worth the risk. Even if he finds out some day, who’s to say he won’t understand?” He reaches out and lifts your chin so you look at him. His warm smile makes some of the worry you feel subside, and this time you feel yourself getting emotional for another reason.

“People will surprise you. If he cares enough about you, he’ll be willing to look deeper, past the things you’ve done. If he can’t do that, then he’ll be losing someone absolutely incredible, and that’s the greater misfortune in this case,” he says.

“I’m so scared,” you whisper, averting your gaze to your lap. “Sometimes I wonder if this is all worth it. I’m always so scared that one day I’m going to lose you or Jimin, just because of this mission. My parents aren’t coming back. They’re dead and staying dead, even if we succeed. But when I think about giving up it just… They deserve vengeance. I can’t let them go like that. Not when we’ve both risked so much and tried so hard.”

Hoseok rubs his thumb in circles over the back of your palm, a gesture that somehow helps ground you. “I’m not going anywhere, and there’s no need to ever worry about me, alright? If anything ever happened, I would be fine. If you want to continue fighting, we’ll fight. If you want to let this mission go, we’ll let it go. And in terms of Jimin, you’re doing what you can to protect him. If you think it’s right to let him go, then do what you have to do. But don’t let him go because you’re afraid. Only do what you think is the smart move. If… If you feel the need to tell him about everything that we’re doing and what we are, then I won’t hold it against you.”

This really surprises you. “You’d be okay with that?”

“If you thought that was a necessary choice to make, then yes. Of course.”

“You know you’re the best, right?”

He shrugs nonchalantly. “I try. Now, come on, let’s turn that frown upside down. Get in your PJs and we’ll watch whatever movie you want. I’ll make popcorn.”

You end up watching a depressing romance movie, which has you sobbing by the end, and you’re sure you catch Hoseok trying to discreetly wipe away a tear at some point. It feels good to have a release like that, even though you’re just crying over a movie.

Neither of you has the energy to move off the couch after the movie, so you lie your head down on Hoseok’s lap, and the two of you talk for a while until your responses become slower and eventually you’re both in dreamland. You doze restlessly (as one does when they’re sleeping on somebody else) and after a couple hours force yourself to get up and get in bed. Hoseok opens his eyes, looking at you groggily before passing out once more.

You don’t dream, thankfully, because you’re sure if you had they would probably be nightmares. When you wake up, the guilt hits you again like a shit ton of bricks. You pull your pillow over your head, pressing it tightly against you, hoping that maybe you could squeeze it out of your body, even though the thought is completely ridiculous. You try to go back to sleep so that maybe you won’t have to think about it, but once you’re up, you’re up. So you haul yourself out of bed and eat breakfast, talk to Hoseok, and do everything you normally would do. You refuse to just hole up and let your feelings rot and stink up your head. You have to keep yourself busy.

Hoseok suggests going for a walk, and you almost can’t get your shoes on fast enough. You know you’re supposed to meet with Jimin today since he wasn’t able to make it the day before and any other day you would be out the door, leaving a trail of fire behind you from excitement. But today is different. You knew since yesterday that you wouldn’t be going. Which makes you feel worse, but you need time to yourself. Reality is beginning to catch up to you and run as you might it’s going to gain on you eventually and force you to make a choice. Do you accept the risks of keeping Jimin in your life, or do you walk away now before either of you gets too attached? The thought of having to cut him off hurts. He’s the first friend you’ve ever had and you honestly feel like the luckiest person in the world to have the privilege of knowing him.

A part of you hopes that whatever kept Jimin busy yesterday keeps him busy today too so he doesn’t end up waiting for you, only for you not to show up. Hoseok falls into step beside you. The autumn air has a bite to it, but you’re glad because it keeps you alert and ready for anything. It also calms your mind and you can stop thinking, just for a little bit. Neither of you really has a destination in mind, which is fine. You probably won’t end up going very far since you’re on foot and you don’t want to completely abandon everything. You just need a temporary escape to get your head on straight. Eventually you have to face the music and tackle reality, but for now you focus on the chill in the air, the damp grass under your feet, and Hoseok’s familiar stride beside you.

“Has this place changed much since the first time we came here?” You suddenly ask him.

Hoseok looks around and you wonder what he sees. You can’t remember much of the journey to the church since you were so young. The days had blended together in a haze of grief and foreign sights – places that extended far past the boundary around your home that your parents laid out for you. You wonder what the experience had been like for him and whether it’s tainted by the same things, or if he saw it as the beginning of something new and exciting.

Sometimes you think that you adopted the same precautions your parents did; after all, you established boundaries for yourself. Boundaries around the church and boundaries around your heart that nobody could slip through. Well, until Jimin.

“Everything changes,” Hoseok says. “That’s just a part of life. But the forest has always felt the same. Every now and then I’m reminded of when I found you. Especially around this time of year. ” He looks at you. “We’ve changed. For the better, mostly. I’m proud of you, you know. Even after everything you’ve been through, you became the strongest, bravest, kindest person I know.”

“Thanks, Hobi,” you say, nudging him a little. “Would you ever re-do it all? You had a life before this and then all of a sudden you had this kid to take care of. Do you ever regret it?”

He shakes his head. “Never. If I had to re-do my decision, I would choose the same path again. I will never regret you.”

While you’re on the subject, you ask a question that you almost steer clear of. There’s almost an unspoken rule that the subject is to never be brought up. The moment feels right, so you take the risk, even though you know chances are he’ll avoid answering and switch to another subject. “Do you ever think about your family?”

“You are my family.”

“Hoseok.”

He hesitates and for a second you think he’s going to end the conversation there. It’s rare for Hoseok to open up fully about his family, so when he does, you treasure the moments deeply. He’s open about pretty much everything in life, apart from what happened in his past. All you know is that his family is dead, but he never gets into the details. There’s so much you don’t know about him, about the Dark Court he fled and why he fled. Whenever you try to broach the topic with him, he shuts it down in two seconds flat. So you proceed with caution. You want to know more about him, to understand him better, but you know that if you say the wrong thing, the moment will be over. He won’t open up like this again for a long time.

“No, I try not to.”

“Do you miss them?”

“No.”

 "No?“

"After the things they did… I don’t know how I could.”

You chew on your lip, facing forward, not daring to look at him. If you do, he might get uncomfortable and stop talking. You’re not only glad that he’s opening up to you, but you’re also glad that he’s finally, maybe, going to talk about it. It’s not hard to tell that he has tried to bury dark secrets, and you know how that can feel. You know how secrets can eat you alive if you don’t talk about them.

"What happened?“ You prompt him carefully.

You glance over at him, briefly to check his expression, and see something in his eyes shift, the way people get when they’re transported to another time, not quite seeing what’s in front of them.

"I fell in love with a boy from the Summer Court. We kept our relationship a secret, because we knew that if anybody found out, all hell would break loose. The Dark Court only has enemies, never allies. They are always ready for war. The fuse is ready, somebody just needs to give them an excuse to light it. But the Summer Court will do anything to avoid war. I was one of the Queen’s personal guards and he was the heir to the Summer King’s throne. It would be the ultimate betrayal.

"I wanted out of the Dark Court, but there was no way I could do it alone. We both knew we had to involve as few people as possible and keep things quiet since it was such a huge risk. And honestly, I would have taken all the risks just to be with him. He was worth that. But I made the mistake of turning to my family for help. They turned us in, he was killed along with the rest of them, and so the war between the Summer and Dark Court began.”

"Hoseok, I’m so sorry,” you say. “I can’t believe they would do something so horrible to you.”

He lets out a deep sigh, as though he were finally letting out all the air he’d been holding inside himself for years. “They thought they were doing the right thing. It’s awful, but that’s the way Dark fey think. Things work differently for us. For them. There is no such thing as mercy, which makes them very dangerous. If you ever come across Dark fey, promise me you’ll run like hell. Don’t fight, don’t try to reason with them. Run as fast as you can and don’t look back.”

“I will.” Hoseok taught you many years ago what Dark fey look like, assuring you that if you ever saw one, you’d know it was Dark fey without a shadow of a doubt. Dark fey’s appearance takes on the form of everything they believe in. Nightmares, darkness, death. Their exterior is disfigured and everything on the inside, everything they stand for, mirrors the outside. You once asked Hoseok why he doesn’t look like Dark fey. If he hadn’t told you, you would’ve never known what he was. He told you he made a deal with the Summer King, who would rid Hoseok of his physical atrocities in exchange for information about the Dark Court that might help with the war. Now that you know more of the story, you look at Hoseok in a new light. To go to the Summer Court was a big risk and they could have easily turned him away. You now understand the pained expression he had when he told you all of this years ago. Though you want to tell him that none of this is his fault, that had his family not done what they did this would never have happened, you think it wouldn’t help, so you leave it. You just hope that in the future if he needs to talk, he knows that you’re ready to listen.

As you walk further, you think over his story, trying to find the silver lining. Something about it gives you hope. If a Summer and a Dark faerie could somehow manage to overcome their differences and love one another wholeheartedly, what’s to say Jimin couldn’t accept you? Sure, he comes from the human world where supernatural things aren’t exactly 'normal’, but hopefully he would be able to see it in himself to try and see things from your point of view. Purely in a platonic sense, of course. If things ever come to that.

As you walk, Hoseok tells you a bit more about the Dark Court, about the wonderful things he learned about the Summer Court, about the boy he had fallen in love with. You wish you could have seen Hoseok back then. Seen the happiness that must have lit up his face when he was with the boy. You want to close the subject on a good note, ending with happy memories rather than sad ones, so you ask him what it felt like to be in love.

A tiny smile tugs at the corners of his lips as he undoubtedly recalls fond memories from the past. Bingo. “It felt like light had been restored to the world. His laughter could make flowers bloom and his smile… I lived for that smile. I would have given anything just for him to be happy every day of his life. He made me want to be a better person. Somehow he saw through all the darkness and all the horrors that made me who I was. He helped me see myself for who I could be.

"Anything that happened, he would be the first person I wanted to tell. I wanted to share my life with him. Every detail of it. Every time I looked at him, my heart felt like it might burst from all the love it was carrying. He changed my life and I’ll never forget him. You never forget your first love.” Hoseok’s glazed over eyes seem to clear and you can tell he’s coming back to reality. “He taught me a lot of important lessons and he taught me that not everybody always needs to have an ulterior motive when doing something. People should be willing to lend a hand in exchange for nothing, to help without being owed anything in return. He was that kind of person. He gave so much of himself to the world, and he had so much more to give–”

He breaks off, going completely still. “Did you hear that?”

You frown. “No, what?”

His eyes flick around the forest and you both strain to hear whatever he just heard. You don’t say anything in case there is someone out there and it draws attention to you. Of course, neither of you is doing anything wrong, but you can never really tell who your friends and who your enemies are. There could either be an innocent hiker out there, or somebody you’ve upset along the way with your mission. But the silence stretches on and you’re beginning to think that maybe Hoseok heard a bird or something.

Then everything explodes in a sea of sound. Gunshots split the air and Hoseok is yelling at you to run. You draw the gun out from your pocket, shooting without aiming in any particular direction. You can’t see who is shooting, which puts you at a severe disadvantage.

A bullet grazes your leg and you nearly trip over, but you manage to catch yourself just in time. Hoseok shouts your name and you spin around to face him. You didn’t realize how far he was. “Behind you!”

You don’t have time to react, to so much as see your captor before everything goes black.

You run a hand through your hair, wishing you had brought a hair tie to get rid of your main distraction in order to focus all your attention on the essay rested before you. It’s meant to be a three-feet roll of parchment for your Transfiguration class, but it’s hard to keep yourself motivated. With the rapidly approaching N.E.W.T.s, and your desperation to remain in the good graces of all your professors and classes, the stress is starting to eat at your nerves.

You’re about to start on your second roll, when you suddenly feel a pair of cool hands cup themselves around your eyes. At once, you stiffen at the sensation as you straighten and bring your hands up to gently tap at the mysterious hands. “Uh, who is this?” You inquire, an airy quality to the question.

When the voice doesn’t respond, you drag your fingers over the hands. They’re familiar. You’ve spent one too many times running your hands over these, the course skin and callused fingertips, and the corner of your lips turn up as you briefly envision his face—how he would rip his hand away from yours, only to sport a soft smile from the gesture when he thought you weren’t looking. You know him better than either of you like to admit, like how he’s always had a soft spot for you despite his reputation and how you’ve always looked forward to his visits despite your own reputation.

You finally decide to start speaking: “I thought you had detention today.”

  • have you seen the guy???
  • he’s the epitome of happiness
  • it’s hard for you not to smile or laugh when you’re around him
  • that’s what attracted you to him in the first place
  • you always thought his personality is too much for you, you’re not that happy or energetic or just excited about anything in general, not as much as he is
  • but you’d slowly fall in love with the way he talks and the way he laughs and the sound of his laughter and you’d realize that you’re becoming more excited about everything just by socializing with him
  • and then one day you’d get into a fight with someone very close and you wouldn’t want to talk about it
  • but he’d notice something’s wrong with you, because he always notices those things
  • he tells himself it’s just because you’re his friend, but deep down, he knows he fell for you a long time ago but he thinks there’s no way someone like you would be interested in him, especially because you’re friends
  • so he’d be content with just being your friend and being around you
  • but then you’d get so sad and he’d just want to make you talk about what’s bothering you so that he could help you
  • but you wouldn’t want to talk about it
  • so he’d crack jokes and get a tiny smile out of you and when he’d see that it’s working, he’d try a lot harder, and that’s when you’d admit to yourself that he’s the only guy who can make you feel that way
  • his energy just pulls everyone in and it’s contagious
  • even when you feel like shit, he manages to make you laugh or at least crack a smile
  • he does dumb things to make you laugh like coming up with funny dance moves or rap lines or songs or he imitates other members dancing until you’re crying from laughter holding your stomach
  • there wouldn’t be that many quiet and chill moments with him
  • but when that would happen, you’d be blissful
  • because hoseok is above all really caring and passionate
  • lying around the sofa with his head resting on your chest as you read your book and he takes a nap was what you would live for while he was away
  • he’d never let a day go by without asking you how your day went, even if he was on another continent busy with work and promos and shoots and practice, he would never forget about you
  • he cares about dancing so much and it pays off, he’s amazing at what he does
  • but hobi always tries to be better
  • so when he comes up with new stuff, he sends you a video to brag or to ask for your opinion
  • because your opinion matters to him, even on things he knows a lot more about than you do
  • he secretly lives for your compliments
  • he’s literal sunshine and all that but he’s a bit insecure
  • he feels like he doesn’t get as much love and attention from the audience, and a lot of times he gets sad thinking about it
  • because he works so hard and he tries so hard to outdo himself, to put on the best performance he ever did, just to make people happy
  • but he feels like he doesn’t manage to do that often
  • that’s the thing that gets him down - he’s always so happy and energetic and playful and he’s trying to make other people happy, too, but he feels like he doesn’t manage to do that
  • he often feels like he’s in his friends’ shadows, but not in an envious way
  • oh no, he loves his friends and he loves the fact they are praised for their hard work and talent
  • and you know all that and it breaks your heart when you see someone disrespecting him or saying mean things about him or doubting his talent
  • you never get why someone would do that, he’s the best person ever ??? he’s everything you ever wanted in a guy and more and you’d hate seeing him insecure
  • seeing hoseok cry would break your heart because it’s so different from what he really is and you’d know he must be really hurt if he were crying and you’d just want to protect him from whatever is making him feel that way, and you’d always end up crying when he cried just because you’d be so angry that somebody made him feel bad about himself when he’s the best person you know
  • god forbid someone said something like that to you in person, you’re usually calm and collected, but all hell would break loose if you heard someone talking shit about your hobi
  • he doesn’t let a day go by without asking about your day, and you don’t let a day go by without telling him how much you love him for what he really is
  • not for what jung hoseok aka jhope, bts member is, but for what he is as a person
  • a smart, funny, talented, beautiful, caring, hardworking individual !!!! who appreciates everyone for what they are and what they do !!!! and always tries to make everyone feel better !!!
  • you praise him all the time and he always gets shy when you do and he tells you to stop as he blushes and giggles nervously and makes dumb jokes, but you know he secretly loves it and that your compliments make his day
  • when you compliment him, he says things like
  • “are you saying that just to get me in bed? cause it’s working”
  • “thanks, but you’re still not getting free tour tickets”

  • he feels like you’re the only person that really gets him and appreciates him

  • and also millions of people he has never met adore him
  • but since he’s so positive and outgoing, it breaks his heart to see even one hateful comment, he can’t understand why someone would say such a thing, because he would never in a million years treat someone like that
  • but you’d love your hobi so much that he’d just know it, and he’d gain a lot more confidence because he had you, he wouldn’t feel like he’s in anyone’s shadow
  • spending time away from you would kill him
  • but you’d always find ways to talk to him, even if it only meant texting, and he’d always make time for that
  • “i think i did so well today, i can’t wait for you to see what we filmed !!”
  • “taehyung got fucking lost, can you believe what an idiot he is… i felt so sorry for him, though”
  • “did you see the reaction to yoongi’s mixtape??!?!?! i’m so proud of him”
  • “oh and i love you”
  • “i thought about you all day today, i can’t wait to finally see you”
  • “don’t make plans for friday night, i have everything planned”
  • “wow, that picture………………… let’s just say its HARD not to think about it”
  • “what did i ever do to deserve you !?”
  • “good luck with your exam today, you’re the smartest person i know, there’s no doubt in my mind you’ll pass”
  • “and if you fail, i’ll be home waiting with food”
  • “i was sad today, but then you texted and i remembered i’m the luckiest guy on this planet”
  • i think life with hoseok would be so much fun because he’s so energetic
  • he’s the type of guy who’d burst out in laughter during sex and you’d be all concerned as to why he’s laughing and it would be something stupid like
  • “i just saw the face I was making in the mirror, how do you not laugh at me while we do this, it’s beyond me”
  • but he’s also very loving and caring, so you’d just be happy all the time
  • and even if you weren’t, his presence would make everything better
  • just seeing him would make your heart beat faster, let alone hearing his laughter
  • with time, you’d just keep falling more and more in love with hoseok
  • and you’d thank god every day for having such a sweet nice guy in your life
  • brb still crying about his flower costume thing today

When We Collide on Wattpad

“Cutest couple in Hollywood? My ass!” You commented loudly and looked down at the magazine in your hands, you wondered why you had even decided to invest money in it in the first place.

Your feet were resting on top of your desk while the icon of Tetris was still on your computer screen, but it was paused and your full attention was on the large front page in front of you.

“It’s all just a freaking joke.” You leaned over to grab your mug to take a sip of your almost cold tea, it had been standing there for too long and definitely not helping on your angry mood.

Genji, Mccree, Mei with an s/o struggling with their anxiety or self doubt about themselves like they feel like a burden? I'm very sorry I've just had a rough month

Sweetheart, please don’t apologize. I understand having a rough time, whether it be with friends, family, work, school, or just yourself. I’d be happy to write for you, and if you ever want to just message and chat, I’m willing to lend an ear. I just hope maybe this cheers you up a bit

Mei

  • Like any woman, she is observant
  • So even when you think your hiding your stress and anxiety and those thoughts in your head…she can tell
  • Mei notices when your eyes burn with self loathing when you make a mistake
  • Has seen how your fingers dig into your skin till you bleed, heard you berate yourself under your breath, seen the bitter prick of tears in your eyes when you face obstacles
  • It breaks her heart every time
  • Being Mei, she isn’t sure how to help you but she takes it upon herself to try and find a solution
  • Finally, Mei decides that although she cannot take away your fears, your anxiety or those doubts that fill you, but she can try to bring a smile to your face and show you that even if you don’t believe in yourself, she does
  • One day after a rather long and grueling mission, you were feeling at one of your lowest points when you walked into your room. It took you a moment but you noticed something on the bed.
  • There was a single white lily flower, a box of your favorite chocolates, and a jar. Lifting the jar, you saw a note on the top. ‘Please take out on piece of paper every evening. Take out two on the worse days.’
  • Opening the jar, you saw it was jam packed with papers. Taking one out, you unfolded the small pink paper and you gasped softly. ‘Your smile takes my breath away!’. For a moment you stared, and then hold the paper close.
  • Reaching in, you pulled out one more. The yellow slip opened to reveal a picture of you and Mei making snow angels in the winter beneath a big pine. It read ‘You’ll always be my snow angel’.
  • Holding the two papers and staring down at them, you felt slowly all the negative emotions melt away. Tears filled your eyes, and you didn’t make a noise as a pair of arms pulled you close from behind. Turning, you buried your face into her neck and knew that in her own way, she was trying to make you feel better.
  • “Thank you.”

Genji

  • More then most, Genji can understand doubting in yourself and feeling anxious about things. When he became a cyborg, between the hate he harbored for his brother and the confusion and doubt of being a cyborg, Genji had been a mess
  • Of course, he also knew it was different for everyone. So it tore him apart seeing how you struggled with yourself
  • Especially when you seemed to devalue yourself and your hard work
  • A lot of the time he tried to give you as much praise or encouragement as he could, to show you that your effort was noticed but unfortunately, it never seemed to really hit home with you
  • One day Genji went to check on you after being called by Ana. Apparently you had a melt down during the Bombs Activation and Deactivation class. Automatically the two wanted to make sure you were okay
  • As he came up to the door, Genji stopped when he heard your voice. Peeking in, he could see you on the bed with your head in your hands, crying
  • He heard as you told yourself that you were worthless, that you would never be able to contribute to the team. That you’d only let them down.
  • Unable to bear hearing this, Genji shoved open the door. Startled, you sat up but before you could do anything, you were pulled tight against his chest. His hand brushed through your hair and you heard him take a shuddering breath
  • “Don’t say that. I beg you. y/n, i know…that you cannot see what i do. But i see a strong, selfless hero who will do anything to protect the people around them,” he said in your ear, needing you to know how he saw you, even if you didn’t see it yourself.
  • Taking off his mask, he lifted your chin and gave you a soft kiss. You couldn’t understand why, why he was so sweet to you when you felt like you weren’t good enough for him or Overwatch.
  • But before you could speak, the tears still sliding down your face, Genji caressed your cheek. “Do you know what i admire most about you? Its the fact that you try your very best at everything, no matter how impossible the task, because whats most important to you is the people you protect and defend. Mistakes might be made…but what makes a hero is that you will continue to fight and stand up for those who can’t,” Genji told you quietly.
  • Slowly, as those words rolled over and over in your head, the frustration and anger towards yourself ebbed away. Genji was always so kind to you…it was impossible not to feel the love radiating from him
  • “I just don’t want to let you down,” you whispered.
  • Genji smiled tenderly and shook his head.
  • “You could never let me down, y/n.”
  • And with that, you knew that he would always support you.

Mcree

  • Jesse could always tell there was something wrong but a lot of the time, he couldn’t exactly put his thumb on what the problem was
  • A little less observant, most of the time he thought you were happy with how well you were doing
  • It was like he was your own personal cheer leader, except instead of pom-poms he had pistols
  • But a few months into your relationship he started to really notice that something was up with you, the way your face fell at moments or the way you’d stare off into the distance looking troubled, and all Jesse wanted was to make it better
  • Feeling restless one night, something kept niggling at the back of his mind. A thought, or perhaps more of a feeling
  • To stop his paranoia, Jesse got out of bed wearing nothing but his pajama bottoms and his belt, before heading to your room to check up on you. Honestly, he expected everything to be okay. But in the dark room, as he opened the door slightly, he heard quiet sobs
  • Slowly, Jesse pushed open the door and slipped in, shutting it without your notice. Seeing you curled up in the fetal position on the bed made him want to cry too, but right now his job was to soothe you
  • You jumped as the bed shifted and a warm, muscled body pressed against you. Strong arms pulled you close, and the feeling of a beard tickled your neck. That and the scent of cigars told you who it was even before he spoke.
  • “Don’t cry, darlin’,” Jesse whispered, his voice soft with worry. His Texas accent was soothing, as was the deep lilt of his voice.
  • The fact that he’d caught you in the middle of a break down embarrassed you. Without a word you tried to hide in the pillow but he was having none of it, pulling the pillow away.
  • Turning you, Jesse moved to sit against the headboard with you in his lap. “Don’t hide from me, sweetheart. Please tell me whats wrong. I might be a dumb cowboy but…but i still want to be here for you,” he murmured. It only made you cry harder but Jesse just rocked you and rocked you into his arms.
  • Silently he just rubbed your back as you let out all the tears that had been building up for such a long time. Finally, when the dams were empty, you admitted to Jesse the truth behind your feelings and how you were always worried of failure or screwing up, and how you doubted in your capabilities. Jesse didn’t speak a word, humming an old western tune softly in the darkness as he pet your hair and held you. Finally, you finished and waited for him to make fun of you.
  • It took a moment but Jesse pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Its not stupid to be afraid to screw up,” he said softly. “Its not stupid to doubt yourself. What your feeling is okay. That’s why you have me. I’ll always be there for you, baby. So please, no matter how dumb you think it might be….tell me what you feel, okay?.”
  • It felt strange, hearing Jesse say it was okay. This was the first time you’d told anyone how you felt. But as you laid there on his chest, exhaustion from the crying starting to fill you, you couldn’t help think that maybe it would be okay.
  • As long as you had Jesse there, maybe his love was all you would need to be able to push yourself in life.

An anonymous request here!

Can I request Chris is on a date and she lets him know she has a kid, expecting the worst like with some other guys and Chris is totally engaged asking questions and maybe it time skips a little and they have built their relationship and its finally time for Chris to meet the little guy or girl?. Obviously goes amazing cos he has the same mental age as them 😉 lol.

It had been going well. Almost too well, and that was making you nervous. Weird, right? Normally people get nervous before a date, or if the date is taking a dramatic nose dive in front of their very eyes. But not you, no. A date going well meant that when you did eventually reveal the truth, you’d just be all the more disappointed when he inevitably walked away and you never heard from him again.

So, you chatted and laughed over a delicious dinner and you sipped your wine carefully, just enough to try and quell the raging ball of nerves taking hold in the pit of your stomach. Your body was on automatic countdown to the moment of implosion and, damnit, you didn’t want to go there.

Maybe you could just… not mention it? Just this once? You felt certain another date was on the cards so what would it hurt to save the news until then?
