A new Zimbits fic!

Hello all. I have just completed my longest Zimbits fic to date. I’m very excited to share it with everyone. It features an amazing artwork by the talented @happyzimm.

Head over to AO3 for the full fic. Here’s a preview…

Summary: Eric and Jack meet atop the Eiffel Tower. It’s the beginning of a few whirlwind days together, but Eric’s leaving soon. How much can really happen between them in just a few days?

Eric hears the voice break through the clutter of other languages. It’s accented, but it’s English. Finally.

“Excuse me.” He taps the shoulder of the man who’s been speaking on his phone.

The man turns, and Eric’s breath catches. He’s gorgeous. If Eric knew, he probably wouldn’t have approached him at all. Eric enjoys flirting, generally speaking, but he’s terrible at flirting when he actually cares to.

But that’s not why he interrupted this man’s enjoyment of the Eiffel Tower.

“Yes?” The man says, looking down at Eric from a fair few inches above him.

Eric clears his throat, and tries to clear his head of distracting thoughts about the man’s eyes. “I was wondering, would you be able to take a picture of me, please?”

“Sure,” the man agrees with a shrug, and a small smile.

Eric is relieved. He’s been waiting for almost ten minutes for another English speaker. He didn’t think it would take so long, and he was too nervous to try using hand gestures to communicate with a non-English speaker, even though everyone up here is probably used to it, or has done it themselves.

“Thank you so much,” Eric says gratefully. He hands the man his phone, camera app already open. “Just tap anywhere on the screen.”

“Alright,” the man accepts, looking down to the camera screen.

Eric moves back to the edge of the platform and smiles at the camera. The man takes a few moments to figure out Eric’s phone, then he lifts his gaze to Eric. His eyes narrow slightly, and he takes a step to one side before lifting the phone and taking the photo.

“Hang on, I’ll take another,” he says, already moving to a new angle.

Eric just keeps smiling, though he’s been holding it a while and thinks it’s slipping into being fake. He moves his arms to a slightly different hold in case the other one turns out bad. He doesn’t want to have to ask this man to take another photo just because his arm looks funny. He’s intruded enough.

The man raises Eric’s phone again and points it toward Eric. Eric can see him tapping several times, taking multiple photos. The man has got little furrow lines between his eyebrows, which Eric can’t help but think is very attractive. There’s something about a man so focused that speaks to Eric.

Welcome Home.

summary ; after four years, you’re finally back in new york with your best friend; you’re finally back home.

words ; 4,706 (wowza. this was all written, first, too.)

warnings ; references??

note ; i had some inspiration from the fic “When You Come Home” by @teamgtnw

Everyone has something they call home. This thing could be a place, person, object, animal, even a smell. Of course, it’s different for everyone ─ most say that “Home” was the house they shared with their parents currently or during their childhood. Some would say home is the feeling of happiness, caused by being in their birth town, or the block they grew up on.

You, however, considered it to be a culmination of things. Alongside the stereotypical place, you found comfort in the smell of New York; specifically, a street in The Bronx that you grew up on in the quiet side of the big place, where couples walked the streets, runners smiled and laughed at the dogs they were jogging with; where families could be out with a mild fear of being mugged by some druggie or poor guy in need of some money; where happiness seemed to be one of the most prominent emotions and one of the only words to describe the place and your feelings upon walking around it.

Your favorite place, as dumb as it sounds, was the little coffee shop at the end of the street. The workers were always changing there, seeing as they were all teenagers wanting more money or just starting college and need a way to pay for their loans because their parents sure-as-hell weren’t doing it alone. At one point, that had been you, when you still went to community college.

You remembered loving working there, as you always had light-hearted conversations with the customers and relationships with the regulars. But once you got your first two years of college done, you headed off to a big university across the country, staying there for about four years to get your masters. Then, you came back home with high hopes of achieving something great, something that made an impact, no matter how big.

Your dream had always been to be involved in dancing or music, specifically for Broadway. And as crazy and farout as it sounds, you knew you could make it there someday ─ someday.

The distinct smell of coffee beans and oven pastries filled your senses as you walked into the coffee shop you adored so much. People were too caught up in their own conversations to acknowledge your entrance, which was normal. A fuzzy feeling filled you when you took a deep breath and let your senses be bombarded by the homey smell. The sounds of clinking plates and brewing coffee and buzzing of light conversations about work, coffee, the need to finish a paper and get some sleep filled your ears, as well.

What you noticed out of all of that, though, was the echoing, familiar voice of someone you knew all-too-well. The voice was deep but soft, forming words that were so beautifully put together, yet only said because they worked with everything else he was singing about. This one was about working two jobs, brewing coffee, and still enjoying the life he was give. The optimism he had in his words was what seemed to keep the rest of coworkers going, smiling and giving him beats or backup vocals.

QuickTypes: Marvel Cinematic Universe (Part 1/Phase 1):

Note: Those who have already been typed on the site, I’ll put a link to the main typing. I wanted to make a little master-guide to the whole thing, both characters who are already typed and QuickTypes for those who aren’t.

Tony Stark - ESFP

Pepper Potts - ISTJ

Agent Phil Coulson - INFJ

James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine: ESFJ

Rhodey is highly concerned with public image, playing by the rules, and working within the system to make the world a better place (Fe/Si). He tends to be very upfront with his feelings and perceptive into those of other people. He’s not the kind of ESFJ who blindly offers affirmation to others; rather he’s the kind who just tells people what they need to feel (”What you need is time to get your mind straight.”) He wants to keep his dignity and tries to act cool, but often gets undermined in this (usually by Tony). He tends to be very cautious and avoids undue risks.

Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger: ESTJ

Stane is your typical Te-dominant villain; objective, critical, organized, a tad perfectionist, and goal-oriented. He tends to wear false emotions; he most likely hates Tony Stark but acts affectionately towards him in public to maintain appearances. While most Te-dominant villains are ENTJ, Stane doesn’t appear to plan very far ahead; instead, he looks to the past to prepare for the future. He’s fond of comparing his plan and other people to historical incidents and expects that if Tony Stark WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!, then naturally his servants should be able to recreate it with the best tools, right? (Si).

Bruce Banner: INTP

Betty Ross: INFJ

Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow: ISTP

Nick Fury: ESTJ

Ivan Vanko: ISFJ

Vanko’s motivation is something that happened years ago that he just can’t let go of. He refers to past actions and experiences; he acts because of the death of his loved one (his father) and simply wants vengeance. He adapts himself to new circumstances, changing his behavior depending on who he’s manipulating (a demonstration of how strong Si/Fe can be used by an antagonist.) He wants to recreate his home environment as closely as possible, and recognizes that the bird they’ve brought is not his exact bird, despite looking virtually identical to the audience. He utilizes his lower Ti and Ne in order to slip out of his personas and trick people into doing what he wants them to.

Justin Hammer: ENFJ

Hammer is your typical ENFJ villain. Smarmy and polite on the surface, conforming to laws of society and expectations for emotions; utilizing pleasantries and creating a friendly environment in order to appear his best. He’s a tad emotionally volatile and quite over-the-top; he luxuriates in front of a crowd, with people cheering his name. He has an overarching goal (crush the competition) and will utilize anything he sees to attain that goal. His treatment of Vanko marks his nature; Fe dominant coddling, Ni auxiliary long-term goal and symbolism monolguing, Se utilization of an immediate asset, and inferior Ti lack of logic in thinking that asset is just going to cooperate blindly.

Thor Odinson: ESTP

Loki: ENFJ

Jane Foster: INFJ

Clint Barton/Hawkeye: ISTP

Darcy Lewis; ESTJ

Odin: ESTJ

Odin displays his objective, dominant Te in his decision to banish Thor; he’s always pragmatic and quick to grab onto anything that can be utilized for his higher goals. He takes the infant Loki from Jotunheim with the goal of eventually creating a peace through him; however, he doesn’t seem to have enough forethought to think out how this goal would be accomplished. He usually does things as they have always been done in the nine realms; he refers to events of the past and tries to keep things in a stable and comfortable place. He expects people to play by the rules and when they don’t he merits out punishment. His lack of overt affection due to utilizing his inferior Fi mostly just in his sense of justice and nobility definitely plays a role in screwing up both sons (who also share no functions with him and thus struggle to see his point of view.)

Lady Sif: ISTJ

Sif acts within the rules set out for warriors in Asgardian society. She refers to how things were in the past, discusses her personal experiences with people, and wants things to stay as they were with little regard for the present climate. She’s mostly objective, efficient and quick to get things done. She believes passionately in the people she cares about, and sticks to emotions she’s harbored for a long time. She isn’t very open to change or to the new. She is keen to be a part of history (”People will tell stories of this day.”) She’s generally quite honorable and does what must be done, pushing her personal feelings aside for the good of the realm and of her friends.

Dr. Erik Selvig: ISFJ

Selvig generally acts on how things have been in the past. He stands for the good of his friends and loved ones, getting Thor out of prison because it’s what Jane would want regardless of the consequences to himself or to others. He recalls details quite well; he’s reluctant to believe in the mystic and the magical, as they were things he read in childrens’ books and thus not a part of adult life. He’s generally quite logical and uses his Ti well; he has enough wherewithal to build the failsafe into the portal in The Avengers. His trauma from that experience sticks with him and unhinges him to the extent that he starts running around babbling like a lunatic in Thor the Dark World, struggling to let go of the experience and overindulging in his lower functions.

Queen Frigga: ESFJ

Frigga is open, loving and supportive in general. She’s caring and reassuring towards her loved ones and openly accepting of her sons; regardless of what Loki does, she still loves him; regardless of Thor’s impulsiveness, her feelings do not change, and she is very upfront with those emotions, even to Odin. She’s creative and experimental with her lower-functions, and utilizes them to act more as a trickster than a warrior. She wants things to remain as they were, to keep her family together as they once were, regardless of chancing circumstances like Thor’s impulsive behavior or Loki’s genocidal rages.

Heimdall: ISFP

Heimdall is quietly honorable and motivated by his beliefs in right or wrong. He wants what is good for the realm and also what is right and just in general. He feels things quite deeply but keeps that emotional turmoil within, rarely sharing his true feelings with others and showing openness only towards Thor, whom he seems to trust. He’s quite observant (he does see everything, after all) and notices even the slightest anomaly. He takes action quickly when it needs to be done. He has a great deal of vision and higher-picture thinking; his observant nature and his gut instincts allow him to piece together Loki’s true intentions before anyone else.

The Warriors Three:

Because they get very little screentime, I can only give surface guesses for them. My best estimate is: Fandrall as ENTP, Hogun as ISTJ, and Vostallg as ESFP. Fandrall is quick to make associations and comparisons, conforms his behavior to best suit the situation (he stops Sif from getting herself in trouble with Loki, aware of the consequences), and utilizes Ne-Ti wit in many comments in order to make dry jokes at his teammates’ expense. Hogun is duty-bound to his people and prefers to go about executing his duties in the most straighforward manner possible. Volstagg reacts mostly to the moment and doesn’t discuss his feelings openly, instead preferring to do rather than contemplate. Those are just estimates and very shallow ones, but they don’t have enough screentime to go deeper.

Steve Rogers ISFJ

Peggy Carter ENTJ

Bucky Barnes ESTP

Colonel Chester Phillips: ISTJ

Phillips tends to judge things quickly and based on surface details. He’s interested in the details and minituae of things; Steve is a 90 pound asthmatic, he’s obviously not the right choice for this formula. He follows the rules and goes with tradition. He’s generally blunt and direct, barking orders in the typical angry military guy style and telling off people for disobedience. He keeps any emotions very close to the chest and rarely discusses his beliefs. He’s pretty much there to run day-to-day schematics and keep things in line.

Johann Schmidt/Red Skull: INTJ

Schmidt has the usual Ni-dominant villain quirks - long monologues about the symbolic reasoning for his grand plan, love of myth symbolism and archetypes and how they tie into what he hopes to achieve, a sense of how everything is connected. He has a grand vision for how the world will be - a glorious future with no flags - and will do whatever it takes, by any means necessary, to accomplish that future. He’s objective and eliminates anything in his way. He appears to have some twisted idea of how his grand scheme is right for the world. He is rather indifferent to what’s going on around him, showing his Se-inferior by doing stupid things like not just letting go of the Tesseract before it fries him into nothing, but does demonstrate the Se need for things  to conform visually to his grand ideas.

Dr. Armin Zola: ISTP

Zola is mostly a man of logic and science, piecing together the world around him and usually just stating facts or the obvious. He is mostly a man of thought and objective observation. He utilizes whatever he sees around him in order to achieve his bigger picture goals (Se/Ni), for example, grabbing onto the wounded Bucky Barnes and utilizing him for his Winter Soldier experiments. He is mainly rational and strives to survive and thrive; he doesn’t chomp a cyanide pill like the other HYDRA agents because of this, and cares more about thriving in the moment and planning for his own future than any kind of grand goal.

Agent Maria Hill: INTP

Maria Hill is generally logical, objective and observes/states simple facts in her conversation with others. She likes to put things simply and in as straightforward a manner as possible. She asks lots of questions and prefers to get her facts clear before acting. She thinks about possibilities and worries about the potential short-term consequences; she makes a lot of quick connections and demonstrates an ability to comprehend truths of her situation quickly and compartmentalize them into a clear and well-defined system (Ti/Ne). She trusts things she’s already seen work and prefers to stick to the tried-and-true methods of getting things done. Although she asks lots of questions, she likes to be in a position where she can just say “Yes, sir” and follow the rules, get things done. (Si). When she’s not on duty, she’s relaxed, friendly, and inquisitive, using her inferior Fe to put people at ease. Her main defining attribute though is her willingness to ask questions, probe deeper, and gain a better understanding.

All Things Considered (a supercat story)

Summary: Having an article she’d written be ripped apart, innocent citizens getting injured during her fight with an attacking alien, and being single on top of that didn’t seem to Kara like it would add up to a successful Valentine’s Day.

Then again, she wound up on a balcony with Cat Grant in Paris, so… all things considered, it seemed like the good might outweigh the bad on this particular holiday.

Based on prompt:

Heterochromia: You have one eye of your soulmates eye color and when you meet you get your own eye color instead of having two different eye colors.

Read it here on AO3

On Krypton, nothing like this ever happened. As a humanoid race with rather advanced scientific achievements to their names, the Kryptonians had all but eliminated genetic mutations or unexpected traits in their children. Zor-El and Alura were as baffled as anyone when Kara had developed heterochromia, against the genetic instructions Kara was given. She was to be born with deep blue eyes, but instead, she was born with one of the intended blue color, but one of a green hue with a brilliant mixture of blue within.

Okay I have never in recent years felt as comfortable in my own skin as I did today.  I have a garden plot provided by the developmental disability agency.  I’m growing food plants there, to make soups out of for my J-tube, everything goes well.  Today I went there with a staff person – the only one not allowed to do medical stuff, with the express purpose of getting me involved in activities that aren’t medical in nature, since so much of my life is taken up by medical issues.  So we can do anything from organizing the apartment to gardening.  I don’t get a lot of time with this guy but the time I do get is amazing.  So anyway…

We weeded about a quarter of the plot (which is one of the smallest plots in the whole garden yet is actually quite huge, and was covered in weeds the whole way over).  Then we planted hot peppers (jalapeño and hot portugal), squash (zucchini and yellow), and eggplant, and left some seed potatoes out to sit for awhile before they get planted.  We also discovered, and weeded around, what we think is delicata squash left there by a staff person who had too many of them.

All of the vegetables were looking kind of sad and droopy, so we watered them and we’re hoping the water and sun will both perk them up again.  At least some of them.  We’re not expecting everything to survive or turn out great, but you can’t grow any food without risking that.

What does survive, will be far less expensive than the grocery store, that’s for sure. Even the farmer’s markets around here don’t have good prices.  In fact they’re more expensive than usual.

(Are farmer’s markets a thing that can gentrify?  Because in California, I went to farmer’s markets that were basically roadside stands filled with great vegetables and fruits, and sometimes a few other foods, at an extremely low cost.  Many people who worked on the farms – meaning poor and working-class people – shopped there.  Not a lot of middle-class or rich people did, even though I think the food was great by anyone’s taste.  I swear the local farmer’s market around here is basically an upscale food fair.  And the food selection and quantity isn’t even all that wonderful.)

Anyway, this seriously felt amazing to do this.  Understand that I’m very prone, from a combination of physiology, circumstance, and medication side-effects, to heat exhaustion, sunburn, dehydration, and other problems related to being out there in that place.  There was also grass everywhere – we weren’t on it, but that didn’t matter to my allergies, where grass and cats are the most severe airborne allergies I have – so my nose was constantly running despite loading up on Benadryl.  And I had to crawl around on the ground because I’m too weak to get up off the ground on my own.(1)  I also had balance problems so had to sit in some weird positions.  So none of this was physically easy, and I basically worked to the limits of what is safe for me, and possibly a little beyond those limits.

But the main point is that despite all of those things put together, I felt amazing. I felt at home.  I felt like I was connecting to something I hadn’t even realized I’d lost connection with.  I felt like I was interacting on a very deep way with the dirt and the plants and all the things living in the dirt.  I ended up, of course, covered in dirt.  That’s what happens when you have to crawl around on your hands and knees or scoot around on your butt to weed a large area as efficiently as possible.  But that really didn’t matte to me.  This was like when I used to sit around in the redwoods outside my apartment stacking rocks on myself and feeling like the rocks told me I had a place in the world.  Everything around me as we did this, told me I had a very precise place in the world and right now that place was right here doing exactly what I was doing – weeding and digging holes for new plants, and watering the plants.

I also got watered myself. Something not always understood by people who get their water by drinking it by mouth:  It doesn’t matter how water gets into your body, as long as your body absorbs the water properly.  I hydrate by putting water straight into my intestines through a J-tube with a big syringe.  I have in the past hydrated by having water (or rather, a rehydrating mixture of things designed for use in veins) put into an IV line or a chest port, straight into my bloodstream.  Regardless of how you put it in, the sensation of getting a nice large drink of cool water feels exactly the same kind of satisfying.  Just like putting blenderized vegetables into my J-tube and digesting them feels pleasant and satisfying even without tasting them.  Anyway, right then, water completely hit the spot.

Someone who saw the pictures was amazed – he said I looked completely natural in this setting, in a way I don’t in most.  I probably looked very similar to I look in the redwoods.  And I don’t know how that is, but it’s a very similar feeling of being exactly where I’m supposed to be, and exactly where home is.  And being comfortable in my own skin in a way that isn’t usually achievable.  I felt like I could have grown straight out of the ground like the plants, and sat there and photosynthesized my food or something.  Except I have skin, not leave, so 70 SPF sunblock was a necessity.  I hope maybe these very brief exposures to the sun will result in my skin going back to a normal level of tan – not tanned, just not “I’ve been indoors for over 10 years to the point I can’t handle sunlight even though I used to have practically burn-proof skin” pasty.

But he said one thing that bothered me on a certain level.  He said “Wow, you look totally natural,” and then, after pausing to think, he said, “Well except for that feeding tube hanging off you all the time.”

Feeding tubes are natural in the exact same way that agriculture is natural.  Both are examples of things that don’t just happen on their own, but humans have created them in order to improve our ability to interact with our environments and survive despite the limitations of a human body.  Tube feeding has been around in one form or another since at least Ancient Egypt (that’s what’s documented, anyway), but the kind of tube feeding I do only has existed since the twentieth century with surgery becoming safer through anesthesia and antibiotics.  But all of these things are humans adapting to our environment using the skills nature has given us.  Tube feeding is as natural as beaver dams.

All of which gets me into a problem I encounter a lot:  I really like to talk to and read things by people who greatly value a lot of things I value.  Including growing your own food, and stuff that’s traditionally considered “nature” and “outdoorsy” stuff.  But such people are more likely than average to have extreme biases against feeding tubes, to the point of describing people like me (who depend on medical implants of many kinds in order to survive) as unnatural and creepy, the product of medical science gone too far, in a world that doesn’t want to deal with or acknowledge the natural world, where people like me would die and that would be okay.  There’s little more natural about humans than our instinct to survive, and to use our best skills as a species to do just that.  Our best skills include communication, collaboration, technology, inventing and designing and making new things, passing on our knowledge and skills to future generations, and a strong desire to survive even in extreme circumstances.  These skills are not unique to humans, but the precise way they play out in humans is.  And they are very, very natural.  And they result in things like feeding tubes.

Because it is our nature as humans to help each other survive, to want to survive, and we have been helping severely disabled people(2) survive since prehistoric times, the times when many modern-day “nature people” assume we’d all have just died.  But it has always been in our nature to help each other, and if that meant carrying people around and pre-chewing their food all the way into what at that time would have been not only adulthood but old age, that’s what it meant.  It’s some of our current societies’ trends towards total selfishness that has caused some of us to assume that every prehistoric society would always leave such people to fend for themselves and die.

I wouldn’t be alive in such prehistoric societies.  I would have died a long time ago.  They simply did not have the technology to keep someone with my medical issues alive.  But – depending upon the society of course, they weren’t all the same – it wouldn’t necessarily be through lack of trying.  There’s quite a chance that I would have been valued in life and mourned in death in a way that I might not be in modern-day America (or not likely for the same reasons, even if I am).

I’m also reminded that the only job I ever had in my life was on a ranch, doing work of a different sort but similarly physical and outdoors and dealing with the raw materials of life.  I got paid minimum wage to do things ranging from animal care to shoveling manure and moving it in wheelbarrows to painting fences and barns to cleaning up the property.  This was in a residential facility and the job was a work training program that taught us how to fill out time cards and the like.  I was very proud of my work.  I wish that I was able to do this kind of work now.  It’s one thing to spend a short amount of time doing something like this, but my body would crap out in five different ways long before I spent enough time doing something like this to get paid anything for it.(3)

But even though today I pushed myself to my limits and slightly beyond them, what I’m trying to get at is, this type of thing is what has always come the most easily to me, severe physical limitations(4) notwithstanding.  And although I had a huge amount of help with every part of the process, including just standing up again off the ground, it was still an amazing experience and brought back a lot of very primal, early memories of things I used to do all the time and felt actually competent at.

So overall this is a wonderful experience.  Pardon the fact that I had to stop and talk about ableism, but that’s part of my life’s reality as well.

(1) Yes, too weak, not too fat.  I could get off the ground while fatter than this, before congenital myasthenia and complications thereof got worse and made it impossible for me to stand up from the ground without bracing on something, and sometimes even then.

(2) By any time’s measure of such things – theirs or ours.

(3) Please don’t respond by telling me ways I could work.  I have so many disabilities piled on top of each other, that options that were just barely open to me as a teen became firmly closed by adulthood and have only gotten worse since there.  I don’t think less of myself because I can’t work, so please don’t assume that I’m just putting myself down or selling myself short.  I just know better than to put myself in a situation where I would end up in the emergency room long before I worked long or hard enough to get a paycheck that wouldn’t even support me.

(4) Congenital myasthenic syndrome, hypermobility syndrome, gastroparesis, osteoporosis, and secondary (pituitary) adrenal insufficiency make quite a potent cocktail of “I can’t handle hard physical labor for more than a ridiculously short period of time without turning into a quivering puddle”, without even getting into the specifics of autonomic problems and heat regulation and all kinds of other things.  Today I cam very close to turning into a puddle, I stopped myself just in time to barely get back to the car – with help – and get water into my tube andrlst for awhile.  I’m still feeling the effects hours later.  I got lucky.

The BNHA College!AU no one asked for!!

So…I did some thinking.

There are some of the kids that aren’t described under the cut, but this is just because I haven’t really got a good grasp on their character yet.

Maybe one day I will complete this. Also, if someone wants to write this au I WILL CRY OF JOY. This is some multi-chapter shit tho, so it would be difficult to accomplish…but still.

The Magic School hosts a Father-Daughter campout in Mystic Falls. After Alaric comes down with the flu at the last minute, Caroline has to step in and take the twins instead, unexpectedly running into a certain Mikaelson. (Points of view will vary between locations, hope you like it!)

5 years 1 month post TVD finale…

Meeting Point

Even though it was still light, the temperature had dropped a few degrees while they’d been driving. Caroline pulled her jacket around her body to ward off the chill as she stepped out of the jeep. The twins were in the backseat, excitedly taking in the flurry of activity around them. If only she was as excited about sleeping outside in a tent with giggling tweens and their fathers.

This was supposed to be a father-daughter campout but Alaric had come down with the flu, probably of the male kind which she decided was entirely too convenient. Caroline had camped out numerous times and wouldn’t have minded except for the fact that she had to cancel her pampering spa weekend with Bonnie and Elena. It was difficult not to think about them indulging in sun tanning, facials, massages and copious amounts of red wine while she had to endure incessant talk about Justin Bieber, Kylie Kardashian and whoever else.

Josie and Lizzie jumped out of the car, running towards their friends who were milling around with their fathers in tow. By the looks on some of their faces, they felt the same way as Caroline.

“Yeah, thanks for the help, girls,” Caroline called after them sarcastically as she unloaded the bags from the trunk.

“Ms Forbes,” a familiar voice said by way of a greeting. “You look as excited as I feel.” Caroline turned to face Hope dressed in dark jeans, a black sweater and a grey woollen jacket, her freckles sprinkled over her nose and those auburn locks tied back in a loose ponytail.

She would be lying if she didn’t see Klaus in the young girl’s face every time they spoke. It had taken a while to get used to not reacting from the familiar expressions she’d wear (especially that deep set frown when she was concentrating) but after four years at her magic school Caroline was an expert at pretending she wasn’t effected by her father’s resemblance. Plus, it didn’t hurt that she’d grown closer to the youngest Mikaelson. Hope was extremely studious, talented and a complete over achiever, a tag she herself had worn back in the day at Mystic Falls High.

“Are you kidding, this is going to be fun!” She embellished, a big grin plastered on her face. “And what did I tell you about calling me Ms Forbes?”

“Not to do it,” she murmured, her face slightly downcast. She was always so surprised that a Mikaelson could be shy at times, especially with such colourful and demanding relatives. “Sorry, force of habit.”

“I think you’ve been around your uncle too long with all that unnecessary decorum, Hope. Speaking of your Uncle, where is he?”

To say she’d been surprised that Elijah was accompanying Hope on a camping trip of all things was an understatement. Not only because she assumed Klaus would want to spend quality time with his daughter but also if Elijah would be correctly attired for the outdoors given all he seemed to own was expensive suits.

“He’s not coming,” she admitted. “Something, uh, came up.” Caroline resisted the urge to roll her eyes, first her father and now her uncle. Caroline only hoped that missing out on such an important occasion was worth whatever drama they were whipping up in New Orleans.

When Hope had come to the Magic School all those years ago, Caroline assumed Klaus would be appearing frequently on their doorstep, offering his unwanted suggestions on her teaching methods and checking that Hope was receiving ample opportunities and tuition. But he wasn’t, only making selective appearances over the years. In fact she’d been quite frustrated by that very fact. Bonnie had questioned her ire a few months back, suggesting that maybe it wasn’t Hope she was only worried about. She hadn’t bothered to respond just sent a dirty look her best friend’s way. She might have been a witch but she was way off track Caroline had told herself.

“I’m sorry,” she empathised, suddenly angry they couldn’t even muster one male Mikaelson to chaperone Hope. Caroline would even take bossy Rebekah at this point, not that the Original Princess would be the camping type. “Alaric is sick, so you can just hang with us, sweetie.”

“Oh, I didn’t mean no one was coming,” she shared. “Uncle Kol should be here any minute.” Caroline raised her eyebrows thinking that maybe she shouldn’t have questioned Elijah’s credentials given his substitute. This should be an interesting campout to say the least, she was already imagining his incessant whining as they trekked to the camp site. At least with those childish tendencies he’d fit in well with the other kids.

“Well, that’s great,” she uttered, trying to sound convincing.

“Can I help you with those bags, Caroline?” She offered, holding out her hand to take Lizzie’s backpack. Caroline’s face softened, thinking just how much she adored the young Mikaelson, she was always so generous, kind and well mannered. Maybe she should be thanking Elijah for that decorum after all.

“No, let me,” a familiar voice interrupted, taking the bag from her hand and causing every hair to stand up on that particular arm. He was here and Caroline wasn’t quite sure what to do and given the dry feeling in her mouth she was beginning to realise that forming words was going to be equally as difficult.

“Dad!” Hope exclaimed excitedly as he placed the backpack on the ground so he could embrace his daughter. Caroline would be lying if their impromptu show of affection didn’t cause her to melt slightly. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m going on the father-daughter campout,” he baulked, incredulously. “Last time I checked I possessed the proper credentials. Not too sure about you though, love.” Caroline was still trying to come to terms with his unexpected presence, let alone the fact that his tight, navy henley hugged his toned chest and she could see those necklaces she knew so well poking out teasingly underneath.

“But you said you couldn’t come.”

“It was supposed to be a surprise,” he conceded. “Did you really think I’d send either of your uncles in my place?”

“That’s a shame, we could really have used some of Elijah’s…”

“Dress sense,” Klaus intervened. Bastard.

“No just sense in general,” she drawled, resisting the urge to childishly poke out her tongue. What could she say? The Original Mikaelson brought it out in her.

“So, where is Alaric? I thought when the brief was father-daughter that meant…”

“I don’t have to explain myself to you,” she hissed, trying not to gain Hope’s attention that had been briefly averted by a school friend. “I run this school so it’s only right that I supervise.” His eyes never left hers, those sinful, crimson lips curving into a knowing smirk and flashing a few stray dimples her way for added effect.

“But yet you felt the need to explain anyway,” he grinned cheekily, boldly moving a step closer. Obviously he was trying to keep their conversation private too or was it just his excuse to flout his spicy aftershave in the vicinity of her poor, unsuspecting nostrils? When it came to Klaus Mikaelson, Caroline was always going to think the worst. That defence mechanism had worked well for her this long at least.

“We really should get going,” she excused herself, pretending that the shivers she felt were due to the falling temperature and not Klaus and his close proximity. She looked back briefly noticing Hope’s overjoyed expression, suddenly feeling bad for begrudging his presence. All Caroline needed to do was get through the next day and she’d be okay. “Easier said than done”, she mumbled under her breath as she watched him teasing Hope playfully.

Hey just in case you're curious what an actual Jewish person thinks; Muslims and Jews aren't natural enemies. The actions of a tiny fraction of Muslims don't represent core concepts of Islam any more than the actions of some Christians represent core concepts of Christianity. Is there antisemitism in the Muslim community and on the Left in general? Certainly, but that doesn't represent the views of every single Muslim. I'm tired of gentiles using us as a means to attack vulnerable people

I’m tired of apologists like yourself using “not all Muslims” to excuse a hugely disproportionate problem with Islam. You act as if it’s only a tiny percentage of Muslims who hold these views yet you ignore the fact the top 16 countries with the highest rates of antisemitic views are all Muslim countries, you ignore Muslims are more than twice as likely to harbor antisemitic views than any other religion, you ignore the fact 16 Muslim countries strictly forbid Jews from entering, you completely ignore the fact more Muslims than any other religion deny and mock the Holocaust, you ignore the fact that violent crimes against Jews across Europe are mostly committed by young Muslims

You ignore the fact more than a thousand Jews were killed in anti-Jewish rioting in Muslim countries which has led to mass exodus of almost a million Jews from Arab countries, you completely ignore research has found that 47 percent of Muslims in the UK stated that they hold “unfavorable” views of Jews compared with 7 percent of the population as a whole; that 28 per cent of Muslims in France hold unfavorable views of Jews compared with 13 per cent of the population generally; and that 44 percent of Muslims in Germany hold such views compared with 20 percent of the population generally, you completely ignore the fact antisemitism is spread all over Arabic news and media, it’s being taught all throughout mosques and it’s ingrained in Muslim families and history, you completely ignore the fact that right now every single neighbor of Israel is a Muslim country who are all hellbent on destroying Israel and killing every last Jew. These are entire nations, not just a small minority ffs.

You may have a case by saying a fraction of Muslims are actually butchering and hunting Jews but how the fuck can you sit there and say that only a tiny fraction of Muslims hold these views so we should never talk about it and if we do, then it’s an attack on “vulnerable people”. Are you kidding me? The evidence is right there, what the fuck is wrong with you? You do realize there’s more Muslims in the world than just the ones who go to your university and who tells you how awesome Islam is, right? Muslims and Jews aren’t natural enemies? Have you ever read a history book? What kind of Jew are you? You don’t even know your own history? You don’t even know what’s happening in Israel? Or are you just choosing to ignore it along with everything else because it shows Islam isn’t quite as peaceful as your Muslim friend tells you? Well, it seems like somebody needs a history lesson.

Muhammad traveled to Medina in 622 to attract followers to his new faith. When the Jews of Medina refused to convert and rejected Muhammad, two of the major Jewish tribes were expelled and in 627, Muhammad’s followers killed between 600 and 900 of the men, and divided the surviving Jewish women and children amongst themselves. The Muslim attitude toward Jews is reflected in various verses throughout the Quran. "They [the Children of Israel] were consigned to humiliation and wretchedness. They brought the wrath of God upon themselves, and this because they used to deny God’s signs and kill His Prophets unjustly and because they disobeyed and were transgressors" (Sura 2:61). According to the Quran, the Jews try to introduce corruption (5:64), have always been disobedient (5:78), and are enemies of Allah, the Prophet and the angels (2:9798).

The traditional concept “dhimma” (“writ of protection”) was extended by Muslim conquerors to Christians and Jews in exchange for submission to the Muslims. People subjected to Muslim rule usually had a choice between death and conversion, but Jews and Christians who adhered to the Scriptures were allowed as dhimmis (protected persons). This “protection” did little to insure that Jews and Christians were treated well by the Muslims. On the contrary, an integral aspect of the dhimma was that, being an infidel, he had to openly acknowledge the superiority of the true believer the Muslim and pay Muslims “tributes” (jizya), as a yearly tax, symbolized the inferiority of the Jews and Christians. Muslims also forced Jews to wear yellow badges, setting a precedent that would be followed centuries later in Nazi Germany.

Later the inferior status of Jews and Christians was further reinforced through a series of regulations that governed the behavior of the Jews and Christians. They were forbidden to criticize the Quran, Islam or Muhammad, to proselytize among Muslims or to touch a Muslim woman (the scary part is they still practice this today.) Jews and Christians were excluded from public office and armed service and were forbidden to bear arms. They were not allowed to ride horses or camels, to build synagogues or churches taller than mosques, to construct houses higher than those of Muslims or to drink wine in public. They were not allowed to pray or mourn in loud voices as that might offend the Muslims. Jews and Christians were not allowed to give evidence in court against a Muslim and his oath was unacceptable in an Islamic court. To defend himself, Jews and Christians would have to purchase Muslim witnesses at great expense. This left them with little to no legal recourse when harmed and attacked by a Muslim.

When Jews were perceived as having achieved too comfortable a position in Islamic society, antisemitism would surface with often devastating results: In 1066, Joseph HaNagid, the Jewish vizier of Granada was crucified by an Arab mob that proceeded to raze the Jewish quarter of the city and slaughter its 5000 inhabitants. The riot was incited by Muslim preachers who had angrily objected to what they saw as inordinate Jewish political power. Similarly, in 1465, Arab mobs in Fez slaughtered thousands of Jews leaving only 11 alive, after a Jewish deputy vizier treated a Muslim woman in “an offensive manner.” Other mass murders of Jews in Arab lands occurred in Morocco in the 8th century, where whole communities were wiped out by Muslim ruler Idris I, North Africa in the 12th century, where the Almohads either forcibly converted or decimated several communities, Libya in 1785, where Ali Burzi Pasha murdered hundreds of Jews, Algiers, where Jews were massacred in 1805, 1815 and 1830 and Marrakesh, where more than 300 hundred Jews were murdered between 1864 and 1880. And most recently in the 1940s where more than a thousand Jews were killed in anti-Jewish rioting in Muslim countries which has led to mass exodus of almost a million Jews.

Decrees ordering the destruction of Jewish synagogues were enacted in Egypt and Syria (1014, 1293-4, 1301-2), Iraq (854-859, 1344) and Yemen (1676). Jews were forced to convert to Islam or face death in Yemen (1165 and 1678), Morocco (1275, 1465 and 1790-92) and Baghdad (1333 and 1344). Jews during the 19th century in Muslim countries of North Africa were forced to live in ghettos and Muslim children participated in the degradation of Jews, throwing stones at them and harassing them and Jews were only allowed to work as shoe shiners. The frequency of anti-Jewish violence increased and many Jews were executed on charges of apostasy. Ritual murder accusations against the Jews became commonplace in the Ottoman Empire. The attitude of the Muslims toward the Christians and the Jews is that of a master towards slaves, who he treats with a certain lordly tolerance so long as they keep their place. Any sign of pretension to equality is promptly repressed.

This is still happening right now. It’s not only history but it’s still very real and very current and people wonder why Islam gets called the primitive religion. Their hatred of Jews, gays and women is brushed off as “not real Muslims” when it’s impossible to make it any clearer that this is real Islam, as it always has been. Sure, many Muslims have been Westernized enough to adopt our laws and values but you’re completely failing to understand these Muslims do not make up the majority. You look at countries such as Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan and almost 100% of their Muslims admit they don’t like Jews. But sure, tell me again there’s no natural tension between Jews and Muslims, keep telling me what a tiny minority antisemitic Muslims are. You’re a fucking disgrace.

Homeward, Part Two

Impeccably dressed as always, with a dark blue vest suit, matching pants, wine-colored tie, and shoes that shined to the point of reflecting the overhead lights, Ward Meachum looked perfectly at home in the high-rise Manhattan apartment. It made you feel that odd mental vertigo, the same sensation of being on the outside, looking in, that you had experienced looking up at Danny’s building.

Ward’s gaze flickered upward to meet yours as soon as you entered the space, his eyes growing darker in confusion as he stared above the rim of his glass. You opened your mouth to speak, to at least greet him like a normal human being, but that strange paralysis had overtaken you again, and you closed your mouth instead.

The silence stretched between you as he sized you up, gaze trailing over you from head to foot, one eyebrow slowly lifting as he took note of the way you rubbed your arms from a chill that wasn’t there.

“(Y/N),” he finally said as way of greeting, peering at you as if your appearance was a curiosity to him. “It’s been a while.” His tone was languid and disinterested, but his eyes took in your disheveled appearance with far too much keenness.

keeping yuuri on the ice

Many of us were expecting Yuuri to win the gold and for Victuuri to retire into domestic bliss after having found each other. But perhaps we - like Yuuri - missed the fact that Yuuri’s own skating has value beyond being for Viktor or embodying his feelings for Viktor.

Yuuri still doesn’t know that Viktor was empty and unfulfilled in his lonely God-like position (and may likely be done with figure skating in general?). Yuuri still believes that him continuing to skate is holding Viktor back. While he still believes this, Yuuri retiring to put Viktor back on the ice amounts to Yuuri again not seeing his own value as a skater, the value of continuing to push himself and his value to Viktor.

No wonder Viktor’s pissed off.

I still believe Viktor did not truly intend to return to competitive skating. Nothing about his expression or his previous monologues suggest he’s super keen to return. But Viktor has always met Yuuri in his own ‘language’ in order to keep Yuuri close to him. Yuuri will be a delicious katsudon to channel his Eros? Viktor loves katsudon. Yuuri wants to call these ‘good luck charms’ instead of wedding rings? Viktor will call it a good luck charm.

And now that Yuuri has equated attaining gold to leaving Viktor and leaving skating? Viktor will fight to keep Yuuri from the gold, so that Yuuri will keep skating. And if that means making a comeback himself even if he’s not 100% about it, Viktor will do it. Skating has always been their love language so this is Viktor desperately saying stay close to me through his actions.

Looking back, it’s pretty masterfully executed. Viktor fires Yuuri up before the free skate by emphasising all he has sacrificed for Yuuri to win gold. This seemed really out of character at first - Viktor’s love isn’t conditional on Yuuri winning gold and we know this. But Yuuri has ‘already made up his mind’. Viktor reassuring Yuuri of his love (eg. ‘I will love you no matter if you win or lose’) would reaffirm the romance issue but it would not keep Yuuri on the ice. So Viktor says he wants to kiss the gold medal. Yuuri has to win. To Yuuri, this seems like it’s acceptance of Yuuri’s decision. Skate a perfect program, give Viktor his final present (a gold medal) and retire.

But Viktor has other plans. After the skate, he essentially says to Yuuri, ‘you skated a great program but you still need to beat me.’ Will his own comeback motivate Yuuri to continue skating? Maybe - it certainly excites Yuuri. But Viktor has to be sure. Yuuri can’t win the gold. So now it’s up to Yurio. It’s no coincidence Viktor chose this moment to insist on breaking the news to Yakov - when he knew Yurio was listening.

I really don’t think it’s skating, for Viktor.

Note Yurio being the one to see through Viktor’s comeback talk and zero in on the main point, which is Viktor’s desperation to prevent Yuuri from retiring from skating. Let’s not discount the fact Viktor put aside all that happened at the beach and make himself both vulnerable and humble by hugging Yurio - this is a crisis and Yurio understands this and skates the skate of his life, all while thinking he will make Yuuri regret retiring for the rest if his life by winning. Viktor’s not the only one who sees value in Yuuri’s skating as its own existence – Yurio’s noticed it from the beginning. And Yurio wins, and it’s working - Yuuri is fired up.

Now it’s time for Viktor to sink in the final hook. He’s failed as a coach, clearly. He doesn’t get to kiss Yuuri’s gold medal. How sad. What a regret.

There’s the Yuuri he loves, this (and not making his own comeback) is what gives Viktor his ridiculous Minami!moe eyes. A Yuuri who wants to continue to fight. A Yuuri who will stay with him.

So these two idiots confusedly stumbled into what they both wanted - to stay together - without having a proper conversation about how…that doesn’t necessarily need to involve skating. But right now, it does need skating.

Stammi Vicino therefore achieves the dual purpose of both reassuring us their romantic relationship survives but also that one of them being on the ice should not be at the expense of the other. If this becomes a thing in Season 2, Yuuri needs to understand that if Viktor chooses to leave skating, it’s Viktor’s own decision, and not a sacrifice Viktor is making to keep Yuuri on the ice.

This is a conflict the writers have left unresolved - and it’s something I think they need to resolve to move forward. Hopefully a second season will give them the time and nuance to do this in depth.

Some indulgent Will rimming Hannibal for the last day of #bottomhannibalweek :D

Thank you to @cannibalcuisine and @feyestwords for bringing about this lovely event! The world always needs more bottom Hanni.

“We are in such an infinite place, nature swelling like ripened fruit all around us. There is some equal comfort and terror in knowing it could engulf us. Enfold us in its infernal belly at any moment as we rest in its very focal point.”

Will felt the reverberations from Hannibal’s chest on the side of his face, a soothing rumble. He traced patterns on Hannibal’s forearm, the lean muscle exposed from his rolled up shirtsleeve.

“I agree. Even now, after almost losing our lives by its hands, I find some strange pacification in the brutality of it. Like it’s a monster who has agreed to give us safe passage through a temporary truce.”

“You speak of it like a vengeful god.” Hannibal tilted his head in consideration, fingers stroking Will’s hair.

“Isn’t it?”

He felt Hannibal’s chest shift beneath him as he nodded.

“Yes. Arguably the original god from whence all others were sprung.”

Will closed his eyes and pictured Hannibal’s naked skin against the backdrop of the onyx sky, his shining eyes backlit from the celestial sparks peppering the night’s curtain. He sat up to look him, all the blood rushing down as he thought about what he wanted right now.

“I…I want to rim you. Can I try that?” Will’s voice came out shakier than he had hoped.

“Your intonation is less that of a man who wants something and more of one who thinks he should.” Hannibal’s expression was hard to discern in the darkness, but Will didn’t need to see it illuminated to know he was skeptical.

“I’m not sure I do, but I want to try…And I have this image of you out here that I need to see right now.” Will’s words came out with more resolve this time, and Hannibal nodded.

“How would you like me, Will?” Hannibal crooned, arousal curling the edges of his words.

“Take off your clothes and put your knees on the bench. Face away from me and lean over it."

Hello! This might be a baseless concern, but I was just hoping for some thoughts? Kenta lives by himself according to his most recent Ma Boy video and he works part time at the same time as being a trainee. He's also part of a no-name company; I searched up Star Road Ent and they only manage a couple of small actors/musicians and really barely exist. He must have quit his job to participate in pd101 and paying rent by himself must be pricy in Seoul! I'm worried how he's living in Korea himself!

(cont) Not only the concern of money, but it must be really lonely living by yourself at such a young age in a country where you are considered a foreigner, and I’m sure his family in Japan miss him as well. I’m worried that he will become sad and discouraged, yet at the same time I understand how much fight and determination it must take to accept such a challenge and pursue a career as an idol regardless. I just worry for his sake. What do you think about this?

I agree in everything you just said anon. Kenta also went to Korea without knowing much korean and he has been learning and improving so much and i’m really proud of him. About the company I’m 100% with you, even if it’s a really small company, it can at least help promoting Kenta but i haven’t seen it doing much other than publishing Kenta’s performances so the management is really poor and upsetting to me. He used to work part-time job at a coffee shop which i’m not sure if he quit or not and he also made a lot of performances back in Japan and I believe he saved all that money so he can go to Korea and achieve his dreams.

Living in Seoul is really expensive and i did some research and the average person spends around $970 monthly (source) which is A LOT of money and in the case of Kenta it must be really hard, but there are always the cheaper options where you can save a lot of money like living in a goshiwon (read more here

It must’ve been really lonely and sad for him leaving everything behind and starting a new life in a new country and I feel that he sometimes felt worried, sad and discouraged but at the same time i know he has great determination and knows that he can do this. I’m really happy he joined PD101 because he got to meet some of his best friends (eunki, insoo, jaechan, woojin, etc) that will always be there for him and support him no matter what and that is what gives kenta strength to keep going, to keep fighting and achieve his dreams. Even if he isn’t in the final lineup, I can bet you he will try and work even harder and I will always be here supporting him no matter what. Everything will be fine at the end that is what i’m hoping. Kenta has built a solid fanbase (even if it’s a small one it will keep growing) that will support him always and we will always be there for him when he debuts~

Headcanons for the Paladin's with a S/O who always takes care of everyone else and has to be forced into taking care of themselves? Kind of like their SAVIOR? ;) good luck with the blog, sending all my best wishes <3 -Izar

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUU!! *points* It’s you! Thanks again for the boost, @voltron-savior. Everyone please go visit his blog ‘cause it’s great.

  • Ok, first off are we talking about Shiro’s S/O or Shiro himself? ‘cause it that isn’t Space Dad’s MO, I don’t know what is
  • I think even Shiro realizes that he can’t really talk because he tends to do the same exact thing.
  • Still, this is probably what made Shiro fall in love with them in the first place. But of course he still worries.
  • “Sweetheart, maybe you should lay down and take a break.”
  • “Babe, I’m fine - why don’t you rest up for a bit? You’ve already done a lot.”
  • ^ Can’t tell who said what, huh? That’s basically their relationship.
  • Shiro keeps close tabs on their mental health, making sure that they’re not getting overly stressed out and taking on too much for other people’s sakes. He himself knows all too well what it’s like to bear other people’s burdens and how overwhelming it can be.
  • Always ready to just Talk if his S/O needs it. Shiro will take them out of the Castle so it’s just the two of them. Asking how they’re feeling, talking about their fears, sharing concerns about the other Paladins (like how parents talk about their kids when they’re worried), etc.
  • Which is really great because Shiro needs that, too.
  • Also an opportunity for Shiro to tell them he’s worried about them and thinks they need to take better care of himself. Reminds them that he’s always there for them if they ever need him and both of them will take care of everyone together.
  • Firm but Gentle approach
  • It’ll take these two a little while to sort it out and achieve a balance. Ultimately, I say this would be really, really good for Shiro who will have someone to rely on and helps support the team as well. He’s not bearing the burden himself anymore and neither is his S/O for that matter.

  • Keith may be new to the whole relationship thing and a little awkward but his feelings are Strong For Them and he keeps a close eye on them
  • Which is good because Keith is really observant and he can tell when S/O is just. physically exhausted.
  • He kind of puts more focus on their physical health because it’s easier for him to pick up on and he knows how to fix it
  • Always watchful during training. Yeah, he’s focusing on his own training, but remember how he noticed immediately when Shiro was having a flashback while up against the gladiator? Like that x10
  • When they look about to collapse, Keith is Right There to shut down the training bot and gently pushes them to take a break
  • Constantly reminds S/O to drink water
  • He will usher them towards their room for a nap if they really need it and will even stay with them if asked.
  • Having been alone for so long, Keith is extra protective of his S/O and only wants for them to healthy and safe. Even if this means getting into fights with them over how they’re not taking care of themselves enough (they make up quickly after because S/O knows he’s right)

  • Hunk loves his s/o and loves how they how they take care of other people. But the bae has to take care of themselves.
  • One sure fire way for S/O to stop for a moment is for Hunk to look at them with those big, pretty brown eyes filled with concern and say, “I’m a little worried about you.”
  • Who wants to make Hunk sad like that? Definitely not his S/O. And Hunk definitely gets nervous when he sees that his S/O isn’t taking care of themselves properly.
  • So nervous
  • Food being very important to him, he keeps track of how his S/O is eating and makes sure they’re getting enough even if it means saving a plate and bringing it to them himself.
  • Totally see Hunk preparing the meals himself
  • Hugs, lots of hugs. Complete with stroking their hair and rubbing their back soothingly. Hunk just gives the best hugs, okay? You can’t help but just melt into them and relax.
  • I can also see Hunk getting a little bit tense if S/O really pushes it and puts everyone else above themselves at cost to their own health. Not at his S/O, of course, but maybe other people. You know how snappy he got with Nyma and Rolo when Shay was in trouble? Kind of like that when someone comes up and asks his S/O for help when they need resting.
  • Hunk means business. If S/O needs R&R, they’re getting R&R. So no, Lance, S/O will not be helping you find your moisturizer. You should’ve kept better track of it in the first place.

  • Do you see how this boy self cares? He is so, so, so good and will make sure his partner gets the same treatment. Someone get him the cucumber! It’s facials time.
  • Always, always, always reminding them about personal hygiene but in a nice way, like he gives them some of his own personal products to encourage them to use and finally take care of themselves: hey, here’s this really nice, slightly expensive body wash I like. Try some!! :) Oh, and I have this really great toothpaste brand I use that makes my teeth so white.
  • He’s not super subtle because he’s Lance but c’mon. Would you say no to hydrating body lotion made with raw shea butter, offered so kindly by your loving boyfriend? If not, I’ll take it.
  • “Also, if you need any help with that lotion…” (Please slap him)
  • For once, Lance being an attention hog for his S/O is a good thing. His Constant Presence is good for distracting them enough that they don’t even notice how much time has gone by
  • Also makes his S/O laugh a lot and I don’t think I need to tell you how good laughter is for anyone’s overall health
  • Always ready for a heart-to-heart if that’s what they need. Lance is pretty sensitive, so I think he’d be good at picking up on stuff like that.

  • Pidge is the most blunt out of all of them. “Quit worrying about everyone else and take care of yourself for once.”
  • …oh, that was a little much.
  • She said it because she cares and S/O knows that but still
  • at least it opens the door for this conversation and Pidge tells her S/O just how worried she gets and that she just wants them to take care of themselves. She’s already lost her dad and brother. She can’t lose them, too.
  • Pretty emotional heart-to-heart over here
  • I see some tears
  • One of the fews times Pidge initiates cuddles and tbh they both needed that
  • Probably has one of her little bots tail S/O (with permission of course) to keep track of their overall health and act as a personal assistant of sorts. Rover 2.0
  • Still calls her S/O out when they’re pushing it too much and need to think of themselves
  • Clear, open communication on this topic and it’s good for both for them
  • Only fair because S/O gets on Pidge’s case just as much for staying up all night tinkering on her tech
The Promise of Our Childhood: A Curse in Disguise? - A Toma Analysis

It’s almost mandatory to have a disclaimer in any Toma analysis or review – this character is problematic, everyone should be able to agree to that much, and that means there is no excusing his behavior. Anyone is entitled to dislike him for whatever reason they wish. That said, this post is intended to be an analysis of him and the rationale behind his actions.

Toma and Shin are two contrasting characters that serve to demonstrate a dichotomy on a spectrum of love. Is loving someone caring about them so deeply that you cherish their happiness above all else, even if that happiness is achieved at the expense of honesty? Or is it about being brutally realistic with them no matter how that impacts their feelings because true happiness isn’t achieved without the expense of lows to compliment the highs? Arguably both are extremes and neither one entirely the definition of a healthy relationship – because as anyone knows, balance is the key.

Spoilers below the cut. Also please note that the same TW that apply to his route also apply to this post, if you feel you may be triggered by it please do not proceed.

Hi~ Could I request for a boyfriend material of Adachi Yuto please~?? Thanks!!

Yuto… I want to fight him…

Yuto, the hard-working, caring boyfriend. Good manners and a kind heart, he’s the type of guy your parents would approve of, no kidding.

He’s a pretty quiet person, one who doesn’t easily show his emotions so you wouldn’t really expect him to tell him how much you mean to him that often verbally (unless he’s pressed to, which is a pretty fun way of teasing him). Instead, he lets you know how much he cares through his actions, making the effort to let you know he cares with all the odd little gestures and acts of kindness that have you Shook™. He really is the ultimate embodiment ‘actions speak louder than words,’ and is always surprising you with things like washing your dishes, buying medicine, killing bugs or even fixing those squeaky door hinges you’ve been ignoring for months… Things which really don’t seem like a big deal but shows just how concerned he is and how much he loves you.

He’s not going to admit it but a lot of times, he really does crave human touch and tenderness. At times like this, he’s going to turn to you. Think of it - a smol bean living alone in a foreign country, far away from his family… It’s tough on him, much more than you realise. He’s going to consider you his family, his pillar of strength and emotional support, and all the love and fondness he has, it’s going to be for you. He’s someone who chooses his significant other very carefully, someone who’s really really committed and serious about the relationship (this might be why he hasn’t liked anyone since middle school…). He doesn’t date to pass time, he really does see himself marrying you, growing with you, building a family with you. Heck, he even talks to his family about you.

Of course, he considers you a great friend. He’s the kind of boyfriend you’d be able to talk about anything to, the kind you’d be able to completely be yourself around, to be able to let all your guards down, and with you, of course, he does the same.

Yuto is actually pretty affectionate, whether it’s alone or whether it’s somewhere other people can see. Like, he’d grab your hand and play with your fingers as he holds them, or put his arm around you, but the thing about this is that most of the time he’s not even aware of it. He doesn’t know he’s doing it, he doesn’t notice anything strange - it’s just something he does subconsciously (unlike you, who’s very aware of what he’s doing and inwardly throw a fit). He also has a habit of touching your neck when he kisses you… To be able to touch you, feel you in the flesh, it makes him feel safe. But also, it might be because he feels a very strong sense of duty to protect you.

He’s someone who remembers the little things, like what your least favourite colour is, which movies you liked the most as a kid or what your first pets were named… All the details, the things which almost nobody else bothers with. Yuto would be a bit of a mom sometimes, too. He’d call you every morning to make sure you get up (you always hit snooze at least twice) and even takes note of your schedule, texting or calling you so you don’t forget, say, your doctor’s appointment or the student council meeting you were supposed to attend. Even your parents rely on him to keep an eye on you. What would you do without him, honestly lmao?

I do imagine him as the type to get jealous easily, but wouldn’t say anything about it. Sure, he trusts you a lot and and knows he shouldn’t be getting jealous over small things he can’t help it. That’s why, rather than telling you how he feels, he tends to bottle it up inside him and acting weirdly stiff and odd for the rest of the day. When you notice and ask what’s wrong he just says ‘nothing’ really quickly and when you finally figured out the real reason, you laughed at him for like 20 minutes (to which he responded with his usual pokerface, but you could see his nostrils flare ever so slightly, and you laughed even more cause it was cute…)

Dates! He’s the type of boyfriend who’d like to be around you a lot, to take you out regularly. No matter how busy his schedule is, he always makes sure he has time to spend with you. The best dates don’t have to be lavish or expensive, it’s the ones where you’re able to fully enjoy yourselves, have fun and enjoy each other’s presence. Sometimes he takes you to the park, to that one cafe at the end of the street, to the bookstore, grocery shopping, even, and when you’re feeling more adventurous maybe the two of you would go thrift-shopping downtown (he fucking loves that shit - one time he found an ancient pepe meme and it made him happy for 2 whole weeks).

Anyways, Yuto would try his best to make you feel as special and loved as he can. He knows when to be loving and when to be serious, when to make those terrible crappy jokes. He’d care for you and love you so deeply and genuinely, work hard to achieve his dreams, for a better life which he could spend by your side. Sure, he might not tell you he loves you every day, but you can definitely feel it. Yuto - well, if you believe in soulmates, then he really is The One™

anonymous asked:

what's the best way to get an increase in your allowance after seeing an SD for some time (6 months+)?

By way of setting the stage in order to answer your question, let me state the obvious:  an arrangement that lasts six months or longer is a very good thing!  A long-term arrangement is the “grail” that all serious and committed SBs seek. Your SD is happy with you, enjoys your company and is providing a steady allowance that you have come to count on and expect month after month.  Hopefully, the SD is someone whose company you genuinely enjoy as well.  You respect each other’s boundaries and, over time, you have become close and comfortable with each other.  It sure beats having to sift through endless messages on SA, going on dull, weird or uncomfortable “meet and greet” dates that play havoc with your work, school or social calendar and having to put up with irritating guys who are looking for nothing more than a hook-up, more photos to collect or someone new to manipulate and abuse!

Anyway, here you are, at a point in the arrangement where your SD is committed to the relationship and the income that he provides helps sustain or foster your economic goals. But, it’s been six or more months and you figure that it’s time for a raise!

Asking for more money six months or more into an arrangement is probably more difficult, than negotiating the allowance in the first place! Bona fide SDs know, of course, that a steady, meaningful allowance is the price they pay for your companionship, so they are always prepared to have that initial discussion with you. However, once the “ink is dry” on that deal, they think that the allowance is “set in stone” and the thought of giving you a “bump” is not in their heads!

Rule No. 1 – Plan ahead!

So, the best time for “ask for an increase” is when you are negotiating the allowance at the outset!  In other words, build in the possibility/probability for an increase from the beginning of your negotiations, so that when you decide that it is time to “go for it”, he will have already been “primed” and it won’t come as a surprise.  And, here is one clever way to do that:  allowances almost always are a product of compromise, right?  He starts with an initial offer, and you counter it with something that is higher.  Invariably, you end up “settling” somewhere in the middle, maybe closer to his range, maybe closer to yours.  But, most of the time, it is something short of what you ideally wanted.  Instead of simply accepting his “last, best and final offer”, make sure that you point out that it is less than what you wanted. But, flatter him.  Tell him that, since he seems to be such a great guy and since you are very interested in being involved in his life and “rocking his world”, you are willing to accept his offer, but you want him to hold open the possibility of increasing it, say, six months down the road!  He will be delighted that you are willing to compromise and he will gladly agree!  It is easier to get someone to agree to the possibility of paying more money in the future, because, well, it’s in the future!  And, I believe there have been psychological studies that have proven this point!

And, think about it: isn’t this the way the business world works?  In other words, companies often discuss future raises at the time that they are interviewing/recruiting candidates that they are interested in.  Businessmen and women know that they should discuss future pay increases at the beginning in order to attract a good employee.  This motivates the potential employee to do well in his or her job.  Often, the potential employee is the one that brings it up:  “I have a skill set/potential customers that you are looking for.  If my performance meets or exceeds your expectations, I would like to discuss my continuing salary requirements is six months.” If the company wants that employee, it is going to agree.

If you didn’t follow this approach, all is not lost!  The next section also applies to the situation where you want to ask for an increase even if you did not “lay the groundwork.”

Rule No. 2 – Earn the raise!

The “business world” analogy continues to aid our inquiry!  Raises are sometimes given based on the “length of service”.  In other words, employees may get automatic raises after six months, a year, etc.  But these automatic increases are usually for lower paid “hourly” work and are not all that significant, maybe 1-3% at a time.  I don’t think you are interested in that!

For more “highly skilled” or “professional” positions, raises are not necessarily automatic, but tend to be based on merit and when they are awarded, they tend to be more substantial.  And, I submit to you that being a SB is a “highly skilled”/”professional” type of job, so let’s see what you need to do in order to ask for and earn that “bump”!

And, simply stated, you gotta earn it!  As a SB, you are providing your SD a service!

… Always remember that you, as a SB are providing a service, an experience for him, in other words, that he just cannot and does not get anywhere else. And, the better and more memorable the service and experience, the more committed he will be to the arrangement!  Also keep in mind the reasons why this guy is with you and providing financial support.

That quote comes from a previous post of mine, which I think also gives you the general idea about what your job entails and what motivates your SD.  See What should I do on a date with my SD?  Honey, put on your party dress …

So, the upshot here is to provide your SD with an excellent service so that when you approach him about an increase, he immediately sees the value of saying yes!

Rule No. 3 – Communication is key!

The way you communicate your desire for an increase is also very important.  Done incorrectly, and all of your good work will have gone for naught!  And, done correctly, you may be pleasantly surprised when he actually gives you at least what you asked for and perhaps more!

How you approach the issue is a function of your style:  you can do it flirtatiously, perhaps bring it up while you’re having “pillow talk”, or it can be in a more “business like” fashion, over dinner or cocktails.  Don’t be tense, don’t be confrontational, just make it natural.  If he is willing to provide more money based on all that you have done for him, he will; if he isn’t, he’ll let you know!

I offer one specific tip of what NOT to do, however:  I don’t think it is a good idea to argue for an increase based on your increased “living expenses”.  I think if you tell him about all your bills and expenses, it opens up the opportunity of him trying to “micro-manage” your budget (showing ways where you can “cut” expenses, etc.) instead of dealing with the real issue at hand.  Plus, it gives him an opportunity to “get into your business”, which is none of his business.  For example, when it is time for me to raise my rates that I charge clients, I never tell them about my “increased overhead”, etc.  I don’t want a client to have a good picture of my own operating expense and I think the same is true with most companies. Getting back to your situation, letting him know how, where and why you spend money gives him power and information that maybe he shouldn’t have.   I think that there are exceptions to this rule, however, so I’m not telling you NEVER to do it.  For example, you may be applying to a university and you need help with tuition. A SD may react favorably to that. But aside from those big ticket items, I just don’t think telling your SD about your day to day cost of living is going to impress him one way or another.

No matter how you approach it, just remember that good communication is key!  If you’ve been with your SD for six months or more, you should be comfortable enough to be honest, direct and forthright with him, and hopefully, in so doing, you will achieve that increase that you deserve!

Monologue / Huang Zitao

“The things that I write and sing about, are all real experiences and feelings. I don’t care about how many people will like it or understand it. If you like it, listen to it. If you don’t, then forget about it. I just want to write out what’s in my heart. There are too many fake things in this world.”
