he's a good villain and i find his redemption believable ok

The SW Sequel Trilogy Trio - In all seriousness tho

I recently made a somewhat trash joke post about Rey/Finn/Ben Solo being the new trio to the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, instead of the Rey/Finn/Poe idea, as seems to be the popular opinion in the fandom as of late.

I don’t want to write an essay so I’ll try to keep it concise (edit from future me: lol, too late, you’re in too deep now), but I do want to articulate why I legitimately believe Rey/Finn/Benny Boy are gonna be our main “trio” in the Sequel Trilogy.

So, to clarify, I think the trios established in the films are:
OT Trio: Luke (main protagonist), Leia, Han

PT Trio: Anakin (main), Obi-wan, Padme

ST: Rey (main), Finn, Ben Extra Solo

First, to clarify, many people seem to think the “trio” implies friendship, or that they gotta be around each other 24/7 for it to work. In my opinion though, the “trio” of Star Wars does not mean: “the characters who are best friends/warm and fuzzy by the end of it all.” The Prequels alone are enough to prove that…

…Yeah, things seem to have gone down the reeeeal “fuzzy feel good” route for this trio, right?

So what is the “trio,” exactly, then? What’s their function and purpose, if not to be bffs and braid each other’s hair at the next sleepover??

In my opinion and based on my observation from each movie up until this point, the “trio” of Star Wars are the three main character arcs that are meant to serve as some lesson and resonate with the audience at a deep emotional level. They are the three “protagonists” of the main story (with one “main” protagonist and two complementing protagonists). They are what drive the main story, the central conflicts and resolutions, and they are the lasting thread continuing beyond their initial stories and into the future of the saga.

It doesn’t really matter if they are “good guys” for the entire story…

nor does it matter if they are together for the majority of the story…

It doesn’t even matter if they live to tell the tale…

It’s about their personal melodrama conflicts, trials, and triumphs being front and center, and it’s about who and what drives the main story and resolution/results.

With that said, going back to the topic at hand regarding the ST, I don’t think anyone would argue against the fact that Rey and Finn are two out of the three.

….So, then, that leaves us with Sad Boy Ben Solo… so, why do I think Ben is part of that trio, if all he does is be a dickwad to provoke our two heroes…?

Well, to be blunt, the most obvious answer to that is: BEN BOY IS EXTRA A SKYWALKER.

But beyond that - which tbh should be enough evidence in and of itself bc this is the SKYWALKER SAGA - there is reason to believe Benny Boy is being set up for a redemption arc and that the Sequel Trilogy is being set up as a mirror/inversion to the Prequel Trilogy.

If we look at it from a cyclical perspective (”Hello, this is Star Wars, have you two met, yet?” - how I feel if u don’t get that this shit is cyclical, yet) and see this as a reverse Prequel Trilogy of sorts we notice that…

The Prequels started off with two jedi (Ani and Old Ben) and one politically inclined person (Padme) tied to a stable Senate and Republic with relative “balance to the Force and peace, which all ended very badly with tragedy and an antagonistic relationship (and ultimately a villain) and rise of a great and evil empire.

With that in mind, I think it could be possible that (although, yes, this is speculation, so calm down) in the Sequel Trilogy, we start off with a trio of an antagonist/villain vs. two good guys, with a terribly dysfunctional political climate/ war and the Force all out of balance, but that eventually the trio end up on the same side in the end, with the mutual goal to destroy the damaging higher powers in place and restore the peace and balance to the Force. So, in other words, we end up with two jedi (Rey and Crylo Ben) to balance the Force, and one strongly tied to the politics (Cinnaroll Finnaroll, everyone’s favorite heart of gold) who will play an integral part in bringing that aspect back together.

See how that would mirror/invert the PT beautifully? It’s poetic, in fact. All of this can really only happen if Ben stops being an asshole evil and decides to do (at least some of) the right things. I’m not saying Anakin 2.0 Ben Solo is gonna be a warm and fuzzy character who ends up BFF ALWAYS AND 4EVR to both Rey and Finn necessarily (although I am personally of the opinion he and Rey gonna date will form a close bond somehow), but for this trilogy to end in any satisfactory way, we can’t just end THE Trilogy of Trilogies - the SKYWALKER SAGA - with the Skywalkers falling to complete darkness and despair.

We’ve already told that story… for proof, see previous Anakin, “I HATE YOU” gif above for reference.

So, if my prediction that Kylo Ren comes back to being Ben Solo once again so that he can restore the Skywalker name and help Rey “find the Force or whatever” with balancing the Force and defeating Snoke, then he has to be one of the Main Three. Such an integral part to the plot demands it.

And, sorry Ben haters, but that’s not to mention that his character arc has ALREADY been so vital to the story and central conflict. Just because he’s a total dickhead villain right now, doesn’t mean his story isn’t central and vital to the main plot. In fact, that’s going to sort of be the point. Rey is going to have to whip his ass into shape convince him that they need each other to fix everything - and that he ultimately, deep down isn’t the Vader fanboy evil persona he pretends to be.

Much like Anakin who was also an asshole in the PT, this new story couldn’t exist without Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Like Kylo Ren or not, that’s the way it is.

And I think by the end of it all, maybe the haters will be able to come around with Ben. Because, in truth, his full story hasn’t even really been told yet. Who knows what the next two movies will reveal to us?

Be patient, and trust the story tellers to give us something awesome and epic. They want us to love this story and these characters as much as they do. Let’s trust them to do just that.

But anyway, if you’re still skeptical, beyond even all of that word vomit discourse, we have one pretty huge visual clue STARING US RIGHT IN THE FACE from TFA.

To all you naysayers who ask for CANONICAL EVIDENCE and shout about interpretation of literary themes not being “enough” (in a saga that literally follows Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey step by f*cking STEP in the OT - stop invaliding literary analysis in a franchise that takes every page out of the literary trope/theme/motif book)…

…here are some VISUAL CLUES from a VISUAL MEDIA to tip you off about these three and their roles/connections in the story.

If you think JJ my man (btw, we have the same alma mater, holla!! Sarah Lawrence represent!) doesn’t know what he is doing here, you’re a fool. That is intentional visual story telling if I ever saw it right there.

By putting them in masks, JJ is telling us, “these are the characters we are meant to discover,” the ones we are to come to identify with. They are the ones with the central journeys, the most growth, the real stories to tell. We learn our lessons from them, and the other characters support and inform their arc. Poe, Leia, Luke, Rose, etc. are of course vital to the story, but they are there to support and inform these three character arcs, which lie at the center of it all.

Anyway, that’s my opinion on the matter, based on thoughtful observation and consideration, as well as some background in literary analysis.

Thoughts/Additions/Disagreements welcome. It’s ok to be wrong (<THAT IS A JOKE CALM DOWN STANLEY) disagree.

12x23: Destiel and s13 set up

So… pretty much everyone is dead or removed into a different dimension other than Sam and Dean…

I’m not going to go into the whole alternate universes discussion as so many good points have already been made. For me its just a plot point to take Lucifer and Mary away at the same time as Cas, to lead to the s13 starting point of winning Mary and Cas back and eventually having Lucifer back on the board too, when Jack has done his ‘bad things’ and has been pointed towards the ‘righteous path’ by a certain couple of someones…

To keep it brief because I’m just very late to the board and I can see there has been so much meta and speculation already, here are my thoughts:

- Cas is dead.

Yeah, this is exactly what I expected  *happy dance*

As you will all know if you have read my ‘break up theory’ meta which is just taking standard romantic story line structure and seeing where they fit, which they PERFECTLY fit into by the way, since season 4 til now now, at this ‘break up’ point which is where for example Ursula looks like she’s about to win Eric away from Ariel or the Beast has to let Belle go back to her father… it’s the last 20 minutes of the movie, basically.

I had said that 12x19 was going to be an argument and chosen separation, which it was, 12x20-22 was going to focus on Dean’s inner self and self acceptance, which it did, and 12x23 was going to have a forced separation, which it did. What could be better than Cas’s death at this point?! Seriously? For Dean, who has JUST figured out that he doesn’t want to hide behind his facade anymore, to have to now deal with losing Cas RIGHT AT THIS POINT. I nearly want to say ‘you can’t write this shit!’ but…clearly you can, thank you Dabb & Season 13 writers!

I’d even speculated about the fact that Mary would also be taken away at the same time (in order to downplay the Pining!Dean of course), but I hadn’t factored in that they would be taken away in separate ways, which is an interesting way to do it, but essentially still boils down to the same thing character-reaction wise.

There were only 2 things that I didn’t like in the way that this was done:

1. We didn’t get a hugely emotional reaction from Dean after the initial shock, but man, the initial shock stuff was GREAT (the screaming, the parallel with Sam/Jess when he’s pulled away, then the parallel with Cain/Colette when he falls to his knees…) BUT now we know that they filmed what happens next already? Jensen hinted that Dean cries? Also that we will see more reaction about this death in 13x01.

2. That Cas’s death felt like it was very much geared towards being a tool for Dean’s man pain, without telling us one way or another if Cas was being manipulated by Jack, whether Cas was right or wrong in his choices. Not treating this death as something relevant to CAS but only to DEAN. That really annoyed me as a big time Cas fan (but still mainly a Dean girl). BUT again, we have been told at Jibcon that the important thing is how this death AFFECTS / TRANSFORMS Cas so this is again going to be relevant to season 13.

So I’m totally forgiving them for not putting it in 12x23 if we are going to get it in the next episode and they told us at Jibcon so hellatus isn’t so hellish :)

Basically, it’s all on track for endgame Destiel, *yay*.

- Sam & Jack. Well…

I still do believe until proven otherwise that Jack still has a CHOICE to make about which way he takes his life and what he does.

I’ve said before that this season and now I’m even more convinced that season 12 was so Dean focused (and Cas) that season 13 should be very Sam focused, which it now looks like it definitely will be. I was thinking endgame Mol!Sam anyway but to have that kind of pushed forwards in 22 was… well honestly I found it slightly jarring in it’s speed, but hey. Now with Mol!Sam on track and Jack too, with Sam being the one to find him… yeah, season 13 is going to be VERY Sam focused.

The Nephilim story is a huge part of tieing up Sam’s self-forgiveness arc that centres around being Lucifer’s vessel, the bad choices he made to start with with Ruby, the demon blood, even then in s11 going back to the cage, but also the good choices he has made… the link between him and Jack is going to be key to his endgame arc.

I fully expect and hope to see Jack make some very bad decisions to start with but be led to being good in the long run by the boys, the Righteous Man and the Boy who rejected Lucifers plan for him, and probably eventually the Fallen Angel in love with Humanity, the direct mirror to his blood father …

For me this is where I see the story going in the long run.

I may be wrong but honestly I don’t see how it can be any other way, given the narrative over the last 12 years for the core characters: the overriding theme of free will, of choices and heart (love), of family being chosen, not just blood, all this creating who you choose to be as a person. If Jack ends up evil, fine, but it will have to be his CHOICE to be evil, and honestly, I don’t see that this is where they are going with this.

Cas is also linked to Jack in whatever way it is with the yellow grace, the fact that Jack chose Cas and Cas seems to have chosen Jack, whether it be against his will or not is yet to be seen and can only be speculated about, even though I have my own mind made up about this until proven otherwise…

But ALSO their stories are so similar - literally both stuck between Heaven and Earth.

Jack will be key to both SAM and CAS’s arcs next season, which makes total sense after s12 was all about Dean and deconstructing Performing!Dean, it was absolutely beautifully done.

- Other aspects:

Crowley is Dead, but for me he went out in a really good way and tbh I would be a bit upset at this point if they brought him back after that excellent Death.

The important thing is how this relates to Dean - who just the episode before has basically let down the walls to Performing!Dean, the ‘dark side’ that is sometimes associated with Crowley.

Then Crowley (who represents this dark side of Dean), dies after SAYING HE IS JUST DONE WITH IT ALL and kills HIMSELF.

Rowena’s death not so much but then again, she was always a villain until recently and, like Crowley, I understand that people like them both, but when you look at the awful things that they have done, to be honest, I’m not so hot on a redemption arc for them. Dying in a good way is what I would have wanted for both of them and Rowena’s death pisses me off as we were robbed of that (if she isn’t going to somehow come back).

AUs don’t excite me and IDGAF unless they give us some good plot points and character arcs that tie in.

Lucifer & Mary. Will be back for plot reasons, honestly, I hope they keep well out of season 13 until it is time for Jack to help out and if they are literally in 2 episodes I will be happiest but I doubt that, they will drag them and the stupid AU out for much more than its worth but eh, ok, fine. Shrugs and sticks to caring about the character driven storylines that will take place around this.

Overall, this wasn’t the character - driven finale I was hoping for, there was way too much faffing around in the AU, which I really don’t find interesting, way too much Lucifer BUT the themes are carrying forwards into season 13 as I had hoped they would, Cas’s death seems to be going to serve exactly the purpose for both his arc and Destiel that I would hope and this episode coupled with 22 makes me even more confident in my endgame wishlist.

- Hunter / Mol collaboration with Sam and Dean as leaders. Pretty much CHECK.

- End of the brodependency, Dean acknowledging he was Sam’s parent and letting him go. CHECK.

- End of Performing!Dean. Pretty much CHECK.

- Destiel. Pretty much CHECK.

- Human!Cas and self worth and belonging for his arc. TBA probably next season, what happened this season makes no sense if not to lead to this.

Hello! Thank you for coming to me for this. I have lots of Malec recommendations! Right now I’m just going to give you some of the one’s I have in my new phone but maybe later I will add the one’s I have in my previous phones.

-This fanfics are a mix of a lot of things: fluff, angst, smut (yes, I’m a fan of bottom!Alec :D), some AUs, and some are very dark.

-I put some Notes to express my opinions and other stuff (they are kinda lame :p sorry haha)

-Just click in the title to open the fic and if there’s an issue with the link just let me know.

-I put how many chapters each story has and where is posted next to the title.

-They are not in order of how I like them or whatever, it was just how I found them, I put them here.

-Also I put a (*) before the fic title for the one’s I think you should really read!! The one’s I really loved the most of this list.

-I’m sorry if there’s some mistakes in my English, it’s not my native language.

Good Things Come To Those (Who Stutter In Front Of Their Crush) (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: Alec is fairly popular, he has his friends and his brother and sister, and no one seems to mind that he doesn’t talk that much. He’s not exactly shy, he’s just awkward and gets nervous around strangers.

Magnus is a senior, a year above Alec, and he’s quite possibly the most beautiful person Alec has ever laid eyes upon. The problem isn’t that he’s a year older, however. It’s that he has a girlfriend.

And, of course, if Alec ever was to start a conversation with Magnus, he’d probably trip over his own feet, stumble over his words, and faceplant into the ground … or something.

The embarrassment just isn’t worth it. Or is it?

Notes: This is a really sweet AU with a cute Alec with glasses.

* Reminiscent (33/33) (Ao3)

Summary: I’m trivial. I’ve always believed I’m trivial. But he says that’s not true. He says I’m a lot more than trivial. He says I’ll always be more to him. He told me I’m his first of safe and risks. He told me I’m his first in his mind which shouts important and unnecessary recollections. He told me I’m his first of anything but trivial. And I can’t help but wanting to believe him.

Notes: This has a lot of angst, I’m serious. You suffer with this but like I love angst, wow, it was amazing. And the end… well, it ends with angst but also in a good way (?)

Religious Obligations (16/?) (Ao3)

Summary: The Lightwoods have long since been cursed with corruptibility. In the year of the Angel 1645, Robert made a deal with the devil himself. In exchange for the security of his position, he took an oath to give one of his children. Now the Prince of Hell has come to collect.

Notes: I haven’t read the last chapters, I think I’m in chapter 13 but this story is so good! It has a lot of potential and the plot is really good and unique.

* Tale of Wolves (2/2) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: Alec was an Omega. And he had never expected his Alpha, Magnus, would pick him as mating partner. Warnings: Altered ABO, sexual content. A two-part story.

Notes: This is an Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamic fanfic, with mpreg mentioned. Smut. *spoiler* But also how Alec starts to get over his insecurities.

* The Moon wants to shine but the Sun is too bright (14/16) (Ao3)

Summary: “I don’t like it”, said Magnus.

Alec looked at him with perplexity.

“You don’t like what ?”

“I don’t like it when people are touching my things !” he answered angrily.

Alec frowned, did someone touch Chairman Meow ? He didn’t notice the possessive glare of Magnus focused on him.

Notes: oKaY THIS STORY IS AMAZING! The summary doesn’t make justice to what the story is really about!! It’s amazing!!!! Right now everything is getting solved and I’m impatient for the next chapters!! Oh and angst hehe.

* Five Times Magnus Isn’t a Good Boyfriend And One Time He Is (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: Being a high profile celebrity makes it difficult for Magnus to find enough time for his personal life. Alec’s feeling lonely after spending yet another night alone.

Or, in which Magnus is spending too much time at work, Alec confides in Chairman Meow, and Magnus tries to make everything better.

Notes: Slight angst but has a sweet end.

* Under Nobody’s Wings (23/?) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: The Circle which led by Jonathan Morgenstern was hunting Downworlders. Jonathan’s lover, Alec Ligthwood, suddenly showed up and asked Magnus for help with a baby in his arms. Said Warlock never expected the pain and love followed. Through their way to redemption, something developed between them. *Hints of abuse, sexual content and Mpreg

Notes: amazing plot!!!

Feeling Alive (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: Alec has one job and he intends to complete it.

Notes: zombie!au but I’m warning that is tragic. This author’s fics are really angsty but I love them.

* Satellite (6/6) (Ao3)

Summary: All Alec wanted was for his family to be safe. Unfortunately, a dangerous mutant ability and a terrifying mistake can’t–won’t–leave him and his siblings alone. If he wants his loved ones to survive, he’s going to have to face his fears, and worse, himself.

Notes: Xmen Universe AU. Again, wonderful plot! This is going to have a second part but it’s not posted yet. This First is finished. This author’s fics are really angsty but I love them.

Summary: Alec is a ballet dancer with a permanent scowl

Magnus is a glittering fashion designer with a knack for gift buying

They meet and misunderstandings take place. This is their story.

*All characters apart from my own belong to the genius that is Cassie Clare*

Notes: oHmYgOd I’m in love with this!!! Ballet dancer!Alec is everything!! So cute and also kind of stalker!Magnus. The author changed slightly Alec’s appearance but I’m ok with it <3. And the chapter are so long!

darling tonight, i’ve got you in my sights (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: _

Magnus nips at Alec’s perspiring, over heated flesh with an enthusiastic mouth, tongue flicking out to lap at the subtle rivulets of sweat and his groan reverberates through Alec, deep and intoxicating. His agile fingers stray under the hem of Alec’s shirt, sweeping blistering trails of fire across his abdomen, muscles quivering and tensing under the numbing ministrations. The pure skin on skin contact is devastatingly stunning, by the Angel, and Alec clenches his teeth to smother his cry, head tumbling back onto Magnus’ shoulder.

(clubbing and some sexy dancing leads to some hot, rather filthy sex.)

Notes: yeess smut but it’s well written.

Intimacy (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: “Here, take what you want, what you need.” the warlock whispered, moving his hands to Alec’s to lace them together.

Or five times Magnus and Alec failed at having intimate moments and the one time they didn’t.

Notes: It’s literally what the summary says, and powerbottom!alec.

Too Much Of A Good Thing Won’t Be Good For Long (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: Boxing AU

Notes: short but so good!!

Bullseye (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: When Alec Lightwood is approached by Magnus Bane as a recruitment effort for a mysterious cause, he most definitely doesn’t expect the series of events that follow.

Notes: This includes experiments, if I remember well. A clandestine organization.

Magnus Bane’s School for Young Warlocks (20/25) (Ao3)

Summary: Alec had never dreamt he’d be a father by the age of 25, let alone the father of a Warlock. He’s sure he can handle it alone, though. He doesn’t need anyone and neither do his kids.

(Or: Alec takes Max to Warlock School and finds himself falling fast for his teacher).

Notes: I haven’t finished reading the last updates but has angst and denial from Alec’s part.

* Counting Lies (1/1) (Ao3)

The city was torn apart by the fight between the mob families and the vigilantes, but Alec and Magnus were far away from all that. They were just two normal guys in a normal relationship.

Number of lies: 3

Notes: AMAZING!! AND HAS A LOT OF PLOT TWISTS!!!!! Everyone should read this. WOW.

Summary: Magnus and Alec discuss their sex life via Cosmo quiz. Sort of.

Notes: This is good smut. I’m just saying that. Hehe.

In the Name of Promise (15/15) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: Years ago the Lightwoods asked Magnus for help: sending their only child Alexander to a mundane family and being raised like one. 17 years later Magnus received a call and he had no choice but rescue Alec, both physically and psychologically. *Warnings inside. Malec, AU.

Notes: This story deals with dark topics and Malec’s relationship develops slowly (at least the romantic one).

* Better Angels (10/10) (Ao3)

Summary: When there’s only one active Shadowhunter in the whole crazy mess that is New York City, it’s bad.

When that one Shadowhunter is living with three adults who are cursed to never leave the Institute’s grounds, two of which hate each other, it’s very bad.

When that Shadowhunter’s happiness and even mental stability is sacrificed in the pursuit of perfection, it’s monstrous.

When that one, fourteen year old Shadowhunter is found crying in an alley by the High Warlock of Brooklyn, it’s a matter of life and death.

Notes: This story also deals with dark and sensitive topics too, like self-harm. Author’s tumblr: @witchlightsands

Summary: Ever since his Father got caught with another woman and thrown out of the house, cheaters have disgusted Alexander Lightwood. So what is he to do when he falls in love with one? / AU, more chapters to come.

Notes: This a LARGE story, well it has a lot of chapters but they are not that long. I read the story in like 3 days? And it’s good, I mean, I wouldn’t have read it if it wasn’t great. Somethings are kind of… off. But I loved it. ALSO it has age-gap. Magnus is 30 and Alec 18 then 19, I think.

* Take Me Back to the Basics (39/?) (Ao3)

Summary: Modern Malec AU where you can see every color but the color of your soulmates eyes.

Soulmates are a lost romance that have been shrouded over with fear of abandonment or fear of love, but sometimes lost romances can be brought back. Sometimes all it takes is a color. Maybe the color gold.

BlindSpot (4/?)  (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: Malec orphanage AU: Magnus has lived there since he’d been nine years old, and now one year before he has to leave the Institute, a new kid comes along. Alec Lightwood hates orphanages, hates foster families. He just wants to be left alone with his anger at the world. Two worlds clash like thunder and lightning and both guys are in for an interesting year.

Notes: This amazing story is written by one of my favorite Tumblr users: @freakypumpkin Also check her other stories in her fanfiction profile, they are awesome! (also check her opinions of the TMI books on her Tumblr, omg <3)

Something Old Something New Something Red (18/?) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: The man with the cat eyes spoke, “Alexander?” Alec froze, all the memories, all the dreams that he’d had with this man came flooding back to him. This was his soulmate, his soulmate that he hasn’t seen in much to long.

Notes: Sometimes confusing and sometimes frustrating when some things happen (I’m not going to say them because spoiler) but is good.

* Learning to Be (26/26) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: When Alec was 13, he stopped speaking for almost a year. Five years later, Alec is forced to deal with the trauma of his past while learning to accept and love himself. Malec, Alec/Jace friendship and Lightwood family dynamics. See warnings inside.

Notes: Deals with dark topics and has a lot of angst. There’s a second part for this story and you can check it on the author’s profile.

The curse of love (18/?) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: While out on a hunt, Alec is cornered by a shapeless demon that seeks to use him to have his revenge against the warlock Magnus Bane. The demon casts a curse making it so that if Alec and Magnus do not vow and prove to love each other forever, the shadowhunter will die, the catch? Alec and Magnus are broken up! loosely based in the song “Sweet curse” by Floor Jansen.

Notes: this curse omg. I’m waiting for the next chapter like crazy because somethings have happened and maybe it’s gonna be over soon.

The heart inside (9/10) (Ao3)

Summary: “The good thing, it’s that I will get some paid vacations to Los Angeles, and that I am convinced that Alexander Lightwood has a lot to hide. And I will find out every little dirty secret he might have and show it to the world to let them know that their golden boy it’s nothing more than a fake.” I let out and evil laugh. This was going to be fun.

Notes: Interesting story and there’s just one chapter left that the author hasn’t posted and maybe she or he would never post but chapters 8 and 9 wow yay.

* I Won’t Let You Fall (4/?) (Ao3)

Summary: Alec Lightwood is the most beautiful and talented classically trained ballet dancer at the New York Arts Institute. He’s pressured by everyone in his life to carry the honor of the Lightwood name in the New York performing arts world, he feels trapped in a box. Magnus Bane is the most liked, respected, gorgeous, and innately talented hip-hop freestyle dancer who was accepted to the Institute on scholarship. He puts on the happy face for everyone around him, but inside he is broken and badly scarred by his past. When Alec finds himself wanting to branch out and add free movement to his final senior piece he seeks the help of the one person he’s been secretly drawn to for years. Chapter 20: Timing (spoiler: Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy)/ (smut)

Chapter 21: Upset (Mpreg)

Notes: I just love this. And the mpregs are amazing if you like mpregs. Chapter 21 is a roller coaster of emotions D:

The Babysitter (28/?) (Fanfiction.net)

Summary: AU story: Alec Lightwood is a freshman at college looking for a job. Magnus Bane is a single parent looking for a babysitter. Magnus thought it would be simple getting a babysitter, and it was. Though it’s not so easy to keep his hands to himself from this sexy freshman… Age-gap, M-Rate later, kinks, smut and other sexiness.

Notes: This story has a lot of smut! Like A LOT!! I’m serious, and like it says it has age-gap for like 6 years? More or less.

Mortal Embarrassment and Other Flirting Techniques (32/32) (inkitt.com)

Summary: Magnus is at the top of the social ladder, and Alec is the anti-social new kid. Plus there’s a little issue with Hodge and his serious psychosis. High School AU, all human.

Notes: The story is sweet, obviously has its own plot with climax like the Hodge thing and some stuff Magnus does (also another character that I won’t mention…)

Let me love you (1/1) (Ao3)

Summary: “What?” Magnus said but was soon surprised of the fact that Alec practically ripped his shirt apart throwing it onto the ground of the warlocks loft.

Notes: one word to describe this? PowerBottom!Alec. Huh… I don’t know if that’s one word but whatever.

I hope you like at least one of them <33 I’ll add more later, I don’t know when but I enjoyed doing this.

A changed man: Gajeel Redfox

A long time ago, I got an ask about whether I’m considering writing metas about other characters or BrOTPs. I mentioned that I wanted to do one on Gajeel because Mashima’s made a well-rounded and complex character in the Iron Dragon Slayer. I’m happy that he’s given Gajeel such great moments and development to his character. I think we can all agree that the Gajeel now is no longer the same Gajeel we first saw.

I am so proud of how far you’ve come, Gajeel *sheds tears* and props to you Mashima-sensei.

To the anon, this is about a year overdue since your ask ^^” but it is finally here!

Now on with a trip down memory lane!

Abandoned, Prideful, and mean - Gajeel before and during Phantom Lord

We first meet Gajeel as an antagonist in the beginning of the Phantom Lord arc.

The iron dragon had no mercy for the weak. He believed his power was his strength, and Master Jose gave him opportunities to use it - mostly for the bad. He was feared by his guild mates and he taunted them and let them.

It is understandable when we realise that he was abandoned by his dragon, just like Natsu. However, Gajeel felt hurt and betrayed. Who needs the damn dragon anyway? His magic was his pride and all he had left and survive and go on when Metalicana disappeared.

While Natsu was found by Makarov and Mystogan found Wendy and later on Cait Shelter, Gajeel was alone. While the former two started on the right foot due to the people they met. Gajeel wasn’t so lucky.

In some form or way, Jose found him and took him to Phantom Lord, where Master Jose took a liking to his powers and had him use it for all the wrong reasons.

It probably strengthened his belief that his dragon slaying magic and brute force is all he needed - for he is feared and admired by his guild mates and others by these two things he possesses alone.

Until he encountered Fairy Tail. He thought destroying Fairy Tail’s guild would weaken their morale, but it didn’t. He thought hurting Levy, Jet, and Droy - the “weakest” link in Fairy Tail - to spite them would work, but it didn’t. He thought beating Lucy to a pulp would make her fear him, make her weak, but she didn’t back down from his taunting.

Mashima never delved into the horrible things Gajeel did, however he did clue us in that our Iron Dragon Dork isn’t a bad person. Gajeel did want to reject Makarov’s hand in joining Fairy Tail. He felt that he didn’t deserve a place in a guild he sought to destroy.

Mashima instilled through Makarov that Gajeel could change. Thus begins the journey where us as readers start to see where Mashima is laying the groundworks for Gajeel’s development and redemption story..

Despite sticking to himself in Phantom Lord, he had a friend in Juvia during their time in Jose’s guild. Given Gajeel’s lone-wolf tendencies in Phantom Lord, the fact that he was happy to have Juvia around says a lot.

Before Juvia, Gajeel also had a motherly member on the Magic Council that looked out for him, Berno (or Belno).

Both of them believed that Gajeel had it in his heart to be a good person, even if Gajeel didn’t quite believe (or acknowledge) it himself. As did Makarov, who said he can be turned to the right path despite the wrong detour he took.

Building trust and the road to redemption (i) - Battle of Fairy Tail

Unlike Juvia, Gajeel literally had to gain the trust of Fairy Tail because of his actions, as stated by Makarov when he went to see Gajeel personally.

And Gajeel took it to heart. He wanted to be trusted and wanted to do good. As noted in the Fairy Tail Wiki, Gajeel was loyal to PL and Jose because he wanted to BELONG somewhere. He believed that Phantom Lord was a strong guild. Even though he’s now in Fairy Tail, it ain’t any different and doesn’t change the fact that Gajeel wants to prove himself an ally.

In the Battle of Fairy Tail, he let Jet and Droy let off some steam by letting them beat him up.

He also let Laxus let off his pent-up steam as well. When Laxus’s anger got a little out of control though….

Gajeel saved Levy from Laxu’s thunder too.

At this point for both of them, there was a lack of trust. Levy was still wary of being around Gajeel. You see her watching and observing Gajeel from a distance. She is nervous around him, and doesn’t seem comfortable and that’s totally OK. She has every right to be scared of him, in fact. For Gajeel, he wanted to make up to not just her or Jet and Droy, but other members of Fairy Tail too. That said, this arc and this moment was the start of something that wasn’t “fear” or “apprehension” between Gajeel and Levy, but “trust”.

At the beginning of this arc, we saw Gajeel showing Levy that he can be trusted. Well, in the latter half, we see Levy show the same.

When Levy took it upon herself to figure out Freed’s runes on the guild so that Gajeel and Natsu could hold off Laxus. Gajeel wanted to get out there and fight, and was frustrated because the barrier was something he couldn’t break by brute force.

Yet there was Levy. With her books, notes and a pen, using her intellect to find them a way out. And she did. Levy accomplished something he couldn’t do and he was amazed, which he told her.

She was also firm in her belief that he and Natsu together will be able to stop Laxus. But he beat her up. She had all the rights to walk away and not help him and Natsu out. But she did anyway, out of faith that he has changed (or is changing) his ways.

Gajeel didn’t disappoint when he was finally released out of the guild. One, he saved Natsu when Laxus wasn’t himself anymore.

Then two, taking one of Laxus’s lightening strikes himself, using his steel as a lightening rod so that he was struck down instead. Showing to Levy, if not the other guild members also present, that he can be trusted.

This arc was probably the most beaten up Gajeel has been though, poor thing.

The Battle of Fairy Tail was only the start of Gajeel’s redemption though. Here, Mashima also slotted in a subplot - that Gajeel was working as a double agent for Makarov on his son’s guild, Raven Tail, which I’ll touch on later.

A different side to Gajeel: Finding a Friend in Lily - Edolas

The Tower of Heaven and Oracion Seis/Nirvana arc were pretty Jerza and Team Natsu-centric that we didn’t see Gajeel until they all got back from that mission. With a new member (and fellow dragon slayer)!

We see Gajeel’s road to redemption touched on again after Wendy Marvell, a young Sky Dragon Slayer, also joined the guild, her Exceed Charle in tow.

Starting with Edolas, I think Mashima also began to delve into the comedic side of our Iron Dragon Slayer.

One, we find out that he likes to sing and play the guitar - regardless of the audience reception.

And two, that white suits and shoobi-do-wa is a thing XDDDD

We also find out that he is secretly effed that he doesn’t have a(n) cat Exceed of his own, dawwww another tsun!

Comedic Gajeel aside, the Iron Dork played quite a big part in the beginning of Edolas, as he was the one that freed Erza and Gray from the lacrima. Working with his Edolas counterpart to move the plot forward. [1]

Remember how Mashima touched on the fact that Gajeel is working as a double agent? I think the fact that he was able to work with Edolas!Gajeel (AND the fact that Edolas!Gajeel is a journalist) shows and implies that Gajeel is dependable and resourceful. Edolas!Gajeel is not crass nor is he a brute but it fortells what Gajeel Redfox CAN BE in the future, gihi~ ;) [2]

I also find him helping little Wendy in being a “convincing” scary villain very sweet.

I’ll also forever enjoy the fact that he was so overjoyed at having Lily as his partner/Exceed! Lily is also the first person/cat/Exceed he calls “aibou” and given Gajeel only has had Juvia with him as his friend thus far in the story, him finding a friend in Lily is pretty important! Because from their fight, Gajeel saw a bit of himself in (Panther) Lily.

[1], [2] From digging back to earlier chapters, the banters, plans, and stints between Earthland and Edolas Gajeel were anime-only.

As those of you who read my reviews know, I do write in real time so whatever mistakes I made in the beginning of the post I may have rectified at the end. This post will most likely include anti-Damon/anti-Delena/anti-Bamon/anti-Steroline/anti-Bonenzo sentiments. I will probably call out misogynoir, anti-black and racist treatment and perhaps make references to True Blood, Buffy The Vampire Slayer or other shows.  If you do not like it, no one is forcing you to read. OK? OK. Alright. Let’s go.

1. I swear Sybil is going to try and bring Hell on Earth in which case she’s just a knockoff of Ruby from Supernatural.

3. A black man named Arcadius or “Cade” because we have to modernize everything, as the first psychic. Why do I feel like this is going to go terribly wrong terribly quickly?

4. So Cade sees a man staring lustfully at a girl and tells him that what he imagines is impure and illegal but if the man let’s him deep into his mind then he (Cade) may be able to quell his urges. This results in the village stoning him and burning him at the stake because of his power. But like how though? He didn’t SAY anything that would be like omg he could read my mind! The man was staring at the girl unabashedly, anyone would know what he was a pedophile. And because he was burned at the stake Cade knows what true evil is and Cade got his revenge in death. This is SUCH a weak story.

5. Paul looks good though. Like he looks good. Good. Really good.

6. Georgie’s voice is ANNOYING. Like it GRATES my ears.

7. “I can only deal with one temptress at a time”. How is Georgie a temptress? She’s just persistent and annoying?

8. This conversation between Lou and Damon is painful because this is like sitting down with a bunch of drunk frat guys and listening them talk about how sneaky and manipulative and bitchy women are.

9. So Sybil works for Cade who is probably not the devil but a warped punisher of the wicked who is in fact wicked because he has minions kill for him or something ridiculous like that.

10. How would people know she’s psychic? It would be different if there was a whole bunch of paranoia and they outcast anyone they think is psychic and then one day they just happen upon a real psychic. Also if she’s psychic wouldn’t she know that the villagers are coming for her? How does the psychic ability work? Does she have to zone in on a subject or is she overwhelmed by voices and then learns control? Fucking details man.

11. Why is the music intense like it matters that there are two sirens?

12. Georgie and Nanny look exactly the same to me, it took me a long time to figure out who is who.

13. Damon, why the hell would family be a sore sport for YOU? YOU are the sore spot for THEM.

14. Don’t do it, don’t sit down on the chair backwards.

15. She does it.

16. Why is Sybil purposefully leaving out which one of the sirens she is. If the revelation is that her sister is either Georgie or Seline she could just say I met a girl on the island I was banished to or I lived on an island and a girl came to me.

17. Also I feel like they could’ve formatted her backstory in a better way than her telling Stefan and Alaric the story of her origin when they’re meant to be impatient to break her hold on Damon.

18. Did one of the sisters say “If we cannot live off of what God has provided us for then we are not meant to live at all” I thought this was BC, what God? There was not ONE God.

19. Do the writers think that by making Sybil say that the parallels between her and Stefan are “too good” because they both belong to sibling dynamics in which one sibling is the “good” sibling and the other is the “bad/selfish” one means that they acknowledged how lazy they are by making those parallels? THAT’S ALL THE SHOW DOES. The Originals, Klaus and Elijah are like Stefan and Damon. The Heretics may’ve been a “family” but yet again it’s messed up family dynamics, like this is nothing NEW, all you do is the same thing over and over again.

20. Why is Matt’s hair … why, no.

21. “And I know I tracked you down a few months ago and none of this doesn’t make any sense.” That was awful dialogue. OMG.

22. Damon is responsible for killing Matt’s sister and he almost killed Matt’s dad, yeah, I think it’s a testament to the show’s preoccupation with Damon that Matt wouldn’t just kill Damon right there when he’s knocked out. Honestly. Damon has done too much shit to the people around him that the fact that none of them just go ENOUGH and kill him is completely unbelievable to me. We literally only get that once in 2x02 and he hasn’t grown from that moment, so.

23. Yeah, see, here’s the thing about this parallel. Sybil forced Georgie to eat human flesh so she wouldn’t die on the island, continuously but lied saying that what they were eating was boar, she also lied to her saying there were provisions on the ships when it was just sailors. The show tried to draw parallels between her and Stefan because Stefan forced Damon to turn in 1846 except like it’s not really the same because Stefan didn’t force Damon to kill and become a sociopathic rapist and as an anon pointed out, Stefan and the show try to hype up Damon to be this innocent human when he actually helped Katherine kill humans, so like … I just feel like yelling at the show, YOU TRIED IT. Damon isn’t evil because Stefan didn’t want him to die in 1846 and each time I watch that scene I’m just like … this really doesn’t justify or illuminate anything about who Damon is.

24. Stefan’s angry face is actually really hot.

25. Oh so Sybil is the village girl not the girl from the island. Oh shocker!

26. Did the writers actually fucking make Sybil fucking say to Stefan, “Which siren is your spirit animal?”???? ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING ME. HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT NEED TO BE SAID THAT THAT SHIT IS OFFENSIVE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES? LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME? But oh yeah Julie g’waan with that tweet ‘bout respect and value of other cultures. Seriously, this show.

27. So Matt stabbed Damon. And? There was barely any torture. He just stabbed him. Like I am so done with this show. If you’re going to torture Damon then fucking torture him, Matt deserves that shit.

28. Yeah, see Tyler isn’t dead.

29. Why is everyone talking about how Damon wouldn’t be forgiven if he killed Tyler? And how especially Elena wouldn’t forgive that. Damon has done everything he possibly could and Elena has forgiven him. Stop acting like there’s an actual line that Damon can’t cross when we all know there isn’t. It’s ridiculous.

30. Damon talks too much.

31 Oh Seline is the second siren. THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME>

32. Seriously Matt you couldn’t have dunked his head in vervain or something?

33 Damon shut up.

34. Stefan didn’t seal Damon’s fate, shut the fuck up, Damon decided to be who he was because he’s Damon. I’m tired of that narrative.

35. So a black man is the devil. EXCELLENT, TVD. JFC.

36. Also their version of the devil makes absolutely no sense. Why is Cade in hell in the first place when he literally did nothing wrong? Did he create hell for the souls that he keeps and why is he collecting souls in the first place? And they keep mentioning God, as in the Christian God, so how are you going to have a Christian God but not a Christian Hell? WHAT?

37. Cade let out a psychic blast so powerful before he died that he created its own world. THAT IS SERIOUSLY THE EXPLANATION FOR HELL? OH MY GOD.

38. I also find it so fucking tacky that the people who damned Cade and made him create hell are all POC. Like seriously FUCK YOU, TVD.

39. Oh shut up, Damon deserves hell.

40. “A glass of vervain everyday keeps the vampires away” DOESN’T even roll of the tongue.

41. Matt and his father don’t do anything for me.

42. Oh Tyler IS dead, like legit dead. I’m actually mildly impressed.

43. Zach’s performance is actually on point. It’s the best part of the episode.

44. So Georgie goes to hell because she killed a girl in a car accident. OK so like I don’t get it does that mean Julian is in hell too? What about Mary-Louise and Nora? Are they in hell? WHO goes to this hell? Does just everyone who does a bad thing go to this hell?

Final thoughts: I just have questions. Honestly. The details of Cade and the devil and this hell dimension are aggravatingly blurry. So now that Tyler IS dead watch everyone forgive Damon despite the show trying to tell us they won’t. I’m perfectly fine with the show emphasizing that Stefan has as much darkness to him as redemptive qualities, that’s why I love Stefan, but there’s also this emphasis on trying to make him the worse brother and he’s not, Damon needs to own his actions and the show needs to stop trying to pass the buck too. I believe Cade will “rise” and with him, villains of the past. If Kai went to this hell too it’d be the perfect opportunity to bring him back. This show sucks with details.

Mr. Goldman, please collect your embarrasing son Moffat and his friend GaHtiss

As you may have seen in this post, I was wondering what on earth would Mr. Goldman think about TFP. Because is such a piece of work, it needs to be closely observed.

Basically I will discuss each one of Goldman’s ten commandments on writing and try to figure out what Moffat and GaHtiss did to disgrace it. Long rant, so under a read more.

1. Always post the rules.
2. Answer the questions from the person who tagged you and write eleven new ones.
3. Tag eleven people and link them to the post.
4. Actually tell them you’ve tagged them.

1. Would you consider King Candy - or Turbo - a redeemable character? Could it work, or would the characters need to be changed?

While I do see Turbo as a more reprehensible character, I also believe that Turbo could be redeemable if the writing is done right, but I don’t think his redemption should be quick. It probably would take a long while before someone who destroyed two games and reprogrammed another for 15 years can even be considered trustworthy again.
Even then, he still has to take responsibility for all the bad things he’s done, it can’t just be swept under the rug and forgotten.
Not sure if his character would be tweaked because of it, though. Depends on his motives for redeeming himself.

2. Scenario: The Upcoming Disney Movie, Maleficent, has proven a huge success… But, due to the popularity of Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of the Mistress of all Evil, they’re considering replacing the original with the new version, or changing the design so that the original bared Angelina Jolie’s appearance.

Whether the film is a success or not, how would that make you feel?

Not sure how to feel about that, really. I do like Mal’s original design better i guess.

3. Scenario: The Upcoming Disney Movie, Maleficent, has proven a huge success. So that means that Disney is going to be making more movies based around past villains perspective! However, they have changed the characterization of the other, major characters, in order to make the villain - now given the role of protagonist - a sympathetic backstory, and ultimately the true hero of the tale.

How would that make you feel?

Depends, kinda. If the Villain has some more redeemable qualities then I wouldn’t mind seeing them in a more sympathetic light.

4. Aside from Home on the Range and Chicken Little, The Black Cauldron is regarded as one of the least memorable entries in the Animated Canon of Disney. If you are familiar with this animated feature, what are your thoughts on it? Would the Animated Canon have been better off, or does the movie deserve more recognition?

I remember watching it a few years back. It was an ok movie, but i barely remember the details of it since its been so long heh;;; I guess it could use some more recognition, though, since most people don’t even know of its existance.

5. Computer Generated Imagery is good. But so is Hand-Drawn Animation, in my opinion. But, as of late, it would appear as though Hand-Drawn Animation has been thrown away, in favor of CGI. Not only by Disney, but by other studios as well(DreamWorks). Not saying that they should ditch CGI and go back to hand-drawn animating, but don’t you think it would be nice if they did release a hand-drawn animated feature, and not just a short film?

Yes please. I’m all up for cgi animation but it would be nice to see some good old fashioned hand drawn animation again! And maybe do some of it myself if I ever get my dream job of working at one of those studios.

6. Disney is made for kids. Right, or wrong?

No, at least not just for kids. Walt once said (and correct me if I’m wrong) that he wanted the Disney parks to be enjoyable for the young and old alike, and the same goes for the movies they make as well. Though, sadly, it does seem like the company has forgotten about this recently…

7. Scenario: OH MAN! It looks like Disney has gone and purchased the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit franchises! What are your thoughts?

haven’t seen LOTR yet….  he h;;;;;

8. One thing that has me sort of bugged is the change from ‘Walt Disney Pictures’ to simply ‘Disney’. What are your thoughts on this? Should they have kept Walt’s name?

mmmm i dunno,,

9. Have you heard of Pirates of the Caribbean Online, or ToonTown? Have you played any of Disney’s MMO’s, before they decided to pull the plug and shut them down?

Ive heard of them, but never got to play them actually;;

10. Name 5 of your favorite OTP’s, canon or otherwise?

1. Jack and Sally (the first ever one)
2. Milo and Kida
3. Hero’s Cuties yes
4. Doppler and Amelia
5. Chelley wait thats not a Disney ship

11. Name 5 NOTP’s, canon or otherwise?
eeehhhh i dont have any NOTP’s
I’m either interested in a ship or feel an absolutely devastating sense of apathy toward it, i don’t think i’ve ever hated a ship before.

My questions:
1. Which Disney movie did you watch most as a kid, if Disney was a part of your childhood?
2. Have you ever been to one of the Parks? If so, how many times have you gone?
3. What are your thoughts on Disney’s Revival era? Do you think they’re still making quality animated movies?
4. Favorite hero? Villain?
5. Out of all the Animation Studios, which do you like the best?
6. Any movies in particular that you’re exited for this year?
7.  Which medium of animation do you find most appealing? (CGI, hand drawn, stop motion, etc.)
8. Which animated movie would you say has influenced you the most, if any?
9. Which story/novel would you like to see get a good movie adaptation?
10. Would you consider Animation an art form?
11. And for a filler question; dogs or cats?

anonymous asked:

You hear about the chiefs at Fox saying the problem with season 2 is that it was too serialized? Lol

Yeah, I saw that.

At first I called bullshit, but then I thought on it more and it’s actually a pretty fair surface-level, “I don’t really understand this show or fandom” misinterpretation of the problem. That being said, I think we all can agree that making Sleepy Hollow serialized isn’t the problem, in fact it helps the show more than anything. It’s how they do the serialization and what the story arc is that is the show’s weakness.

Look at the stories we had in Season 1:

Abbie and Jenny’s relationship - This is an arc that works very well, but the problem is that it’s irregularly visited. In the front half of Season 1, it was much more serialized as it was part of Abbie accepting her role as a Witness, but then it was dropped to focus on Crane stuff until The Vessel. Jenny was either gone half the time or there was too much other stuff happening to give their relationship priority. We got a moment here or there, but they were too dispersed to really be considered a true arc.

Jeremy Crane and the reveal of Henry Parish - Probably one of the best done arcs on the show in terms of execution. It dragged like crazy because the plot didn’t really advance and also kinda boring with so much exposition, but I think they did a pretty good job. They laid hints about it from 1.06-1.13, with major focus in 1.09 and 1.10.

Irving Family - I would argue the best executed. It was very well done. They introduced first Irving, then his joining on the team, then how it affected his family. We learned about his daughter, his wife and saw the climax of how this fight with Moloch became personal for him when Macey was possessed. It concluded with us seeing him make the ultimate sacrifice for his family. It wasn’t over the top or took up too much time. His story was regularly visited and fit naturally within the context of the show.

Moloch’s rise - At times, the mythology was a bit weak, but the thread connecting the episodes was very strong. Andy, Jeremy/Henry, the Hessians, killing Reverend Knapp, killing Corbin, the Four White Trees, Headless, Ancitif, the dollhouse - everything was connected and you could see very clearly why Moloch was in charge. He wasn’t a particularly intimidating figure, but he was smart as fuck and had shit planned to a tee which made him a believable villain.

And then there’s Season 2:

Henry’s redemption - This arc was terrible, because it didn’t make any fucking sense. All season, the Cranes argue their son has good in him and deserves a second chance, despite Henry not showing an ounce of decency or any desire to be good. Assertions were baseless on the part of Ichabod and Katrina and Henry’s actions were willfully misunderstood. He showed no struggle with being good and no remorse for his actions. And then it climaxes with him killing Moloch out of anger at being mistreated, not because he cares for his parents, but somehow we’re supposed to accept it as proof of his inherent goodness. Okay.

Katrina being important to everyone and needed for everything. Ever - She’s the love of Abraham’s life. And the love of Ichabod’s life. And the vessel to bring Moloch into the world. And the only one who can reason with Abraham. And the only one who can reach Henry’s humanity. And the only one who can kill baby Moloch. And the only one who can get intel from the enemy. And a highly trained spy. And a walking encyclopedia on magic and magical creatures. And the only one who can restore Abraham to his mortality. And an all-powerful witch (she also does parlor tricks). The writers have come up with eleven ways to show how essential she is to the story. Eleven, i.e. ten more than any other character has needed. Given that she isn’t particularly good at any of these roles, I can only assume that spending the time to establish all these roles for her was her arc.

The story of Lori Mills - The strongest storyline they had by far, and it was too fucking irregularly visited to constitute an actual arc. We got random one-line hints about what happened to her. Only two episodes actually devoted time to her, 2.03 and 2.09, with no mention of her in between. That’s why it feels so much like a standalone episode.

Irving’s soul - This doesn’t even constitute a storyline. They did Frank so dirty.

Crane and Katrina’s relationship - Ugh. Who the fuck cares?

Moloch’s rise - This was so convoluted to the point of hilarity. It didn’t even feel like the same villain. In Season 1, he was smart and his plans made sense. Season 2, Moloch was a hot fucking mess and a joke.

  • Attempt #1: Find Benjamin Franklin’s electricity experiment key to unleash me and my zombie revolutionary soldiers from Purgatory. But wait, the Witnesses got the key? Damn, ok.
  • Attempt #2: Get a Chinese-inspired bone flute of the white Pied Piper ninja, crush it up, use it to turn Joe Corbin into a Wendigo so he can be forced to get the Jincan his papa left him, turn the Jincan into a spider, use the spider to get Katrina pregnant and watch me bust our her womb like a boss. But dammit, they got the motherfucking Aurora Borealis stone in this bitch. Okay.
  • Attempt #3: Redirect my energy into a glass ball, hit me with some electricity, and then use a succubus to collect people’s energy and feed me while I chill in my crib. But shit, they killed the succubus? Oh wait, your mama’s here to feed me now. It’s all good. Now just lemme get big and strong real quick, then I’ll hit up my zombie army and we can get shit started, even though two of the horsemen aren’t actually here yet. But whatever.

                                                                                                                    Really show?

Serializing the show isn’t the problem. Serializing bullshit storylines that leave the show and the audience hostage to fuckery for weeks on end? That’s the problem.

TVD 5.13 aka "Total eclipse of MY heart"

Katherine enjoying life as Elena

Elena had a Delena photo album titled PICS OF US

oh look, a witch that isn’t a black woman

Stefan to Damon: “could you be more predictable”? Were the writers looking at a mirror when they wrote that line?

Damon saying he was an idiot for trying to change and be good because of a girl. SERIOUSLY?! I refuse to believe i’ve spent 5 years of my life emotionally invested on a character’s journey to redemption only to find out it was all fake!!! That he pretended to be good. NO. That’s a fucking LIE. Damon did care about Elena’s friends and family even if he didn’t show it often. He saved Caroline from Tyler’s bite and almost dies because of it, he also talked to Liz and reunited her with her daughter, he helped bring Bonnie back from the other side, he also saved Bonnie’s mother by turning her instead of letting her die, he looked really upset when Jeremy almost died in 5.01 and he genuinely hugged him when he learnt Bonnie was dead. He cares. SO DON’T TELL ME IT WAS ALL BECAUSE OF ELENA.

Just when i thought the Augustine Society was over, enter fucking Wes and a new chick who appeared out of nowhere and brought yet more Travelers with her

Don’t get me wrong, i like when Damon gets shit done and kills whoever is necessary to get what he wants BUT he once said “if you’re gonna be bad, be bad with a purpose. Otherwise you’re not worth forgiving”. WELL this plotline did a 360 on Damon’s own principles!! I can take shitty plots but i cannot take CHARACTER INCONSISTENCY

Let me get this straight: Stefan had the chance to behead Enzo with a shovel but he chose not to??? and what’s with all these season 5 villains with a death wish??

If Caroline was a better friend to Elena she’d know how much Elena loves Damon and that she’d be heartbroken by their breakup

Nadia/Matt/Tyler getting drunk

How could Stefan not tell this isn’t Elena?? She wouldn’t be so detached from Damon’s behaviour!

wow who knew? Stefan actually KNOWS Damon and why he acts the way he acts to confirm everyone’s lowest expectations of him

LOL Katherine acting like she cared that Jeremy was kidnapped, “are there any cons? because i’ve only listed pros” hahaha

Matt figured out Katherine is in Elena’s body and he wasn’t even around her…

SERIOUSLY HOW MANY TIMES WILL JEREMY DIE?? it’s like his only purpose on this show is to be killed!

LOL Katherine doing RCP to Jeremy while saying EW and gagging HAHAHAHAHA

Stefan: “Damon, don’t bother coming back” and i’m like

Katherine isn’t in love with Stefan, this isn’t love. You don’t fool the person you love knowing you’ll end up hurting them in the end, right? Katherine is obsessed with Stefan, she doesnt’t love him.

oh great now Damon craves vampire blood

at least tell me there’s a homoerotic Denzo scene coming out of this storyline that makes this worth watching…

The Terrible Tale of Taylor Shaw

If you’d come to me two or three weeks ago and told me that Jane wasn’t Taylor, I would have been totes ok with it. But something has happened over that period of time that makes me desperate for her to be Taylor.

Last night, a very sick and incoherent Bill Weller dropped a bombshell on us. He admitted to killing Taylor Shaw (after at least two awkward meeting with Jane over the span of two or three weeks). Now, Martin can go and tell us that this in fact is true, it’s his story to tell, and I will have to live with it, but this is my attempt to show how this does not make sense (also read as a fangirl’s desperate plea for her sadistic show which will most definitely kill her not do this to her).

Let’s look at this… let’s say Bill did kill Taylor. There are a number of flaws in this narrative and here we go (I can literally hear people rolling their eyes all over tumblr, like, here she goes again). Sorry kids. But I gotta.
