“Dennis’ Double Life” Defense & Explanations

In this post, I’ll attempt to explain/defend all of the controversial scenes in the Season 12 finale, “Dennis’ Double Life.” This write-up has helped me to appreciate the episode a lot better and it might help some people who have mixed feelings about the episode to view it in a different light.

NOTE: This is a mix of speculation and canon evidence.

Question 1: Why was Dennis a butt to Mac the entire episode, especially after he was so nice to him at the end of “The Gang Tends Bar”?

Answer 1: I will break this answer into three parts:

  • Part 1: I got the vibe that Mandy surprised Dennis with the visit, which explains why Dennis had mere seconds to tell the Gang to pretend that he was someone else. With the flesh-and-blood reality of Brian Jr. on his mind, I don’t think he had the mental energy to consider Mac at all. (In “The Gang Tends Bar,” Brian Jr. wasn’t there, so Dennis didn’t feel that immediate/strong pressure. Also, Dennis was emotionally vulnerable and available after having told the Gang about his “big feelings,” so he was able to react better to Mac)
  • Part 2: I’m not sure Dennis fully comprehends Mac’s feelings for him. I think he knows, to some degree, that Mac is attracted to him, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he sees Mac’s attraction to him as a kind of strange “hero worship.” Dennis verbally confirmed that Mac is gay in “Mac Day,” but he constantly acts weirded out or confused when Mac does/says something that shows that he has feelings for him. For example, in “Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs,” Dennis thought it was weird that Mac would name their dog Dennis Jr. That reaction, of course, mirrors Dennis’ reaction to Mac’s reveal that he perfectly recreated their old apartment. I don’t think he was trying to hurt Mac. He just flat out does not understand why Mac would go through all the trouble.
  • Dennis also doesn’t appear to understand his own feelings for Mac. He has asked Mac to “get off with him” (a “mostly sexual” manipulation game) and tried to get him to participate in a threesome with a male golf caddy in “Frank’s Back in Business,” admitted to Dee that he made his sex tapes for himself and Mac in “The Gang Group Dates,” stated that he has a thing with Mac where he picks out porn for them that he doesn’t want Charlie to join in on (“The Gang Spies Like U.S.”), and danced for Mac when he saw him avidly watching him in “PTSDee,” but he doesn’t see anything strange about this. It’s just par for the course in their relationship.
  • If Dennis has trouble seeing his own feelings, then like hell is he going to fully see Mac’s feelings. And if he can’t see Mac’s feelings, he can’t deal with them properly.
  • Part 3: In the back of Dennis’ mind, he was seriously considering leaving the Gang and being a father to his son. He knows that leaving the Gang is going to hurt him, so he emotionally pushed them away. When the Gang becomes “lesser” in his mind, it doesn’t hurt as much to leave them.

Summary: Dennis was stressed the heck out about Brian Jr. and didn’t have the energy to deal with his relationship with Mac.

Question 2: Were Mac’s feelings for Dennis treated as a joke?

Answer 2: Not necessarily. Even though Dennis likes to act like he’s the smartest member of the Gang, Mac is clearly more aware and accepting of the nature of their relationship than Dennis is. Mac was 100% fine with them pretending to be a couple and raising Brian Jr. (with or without Mandy), not because he’s super desperate and lovesick, but because, no matter what they call their relationship (lovers, partners, pretend, friends), they’d still be together. Mac just loves being with Dennis and wants to help solve Dennis’ problem, so, of course, that would be his plan. (And it’s actually a good plan.)

It hurts the empathetic audience members to see Mac treated the way he is by Dennis, but it’s normal Dennis behavior that Mac has accepted. Mac has survived his internalized homophobia, his father’s dislike of him, his mother’s indifference to him, and the Gang’s occasional dislike of him. Mac is stronger than we think he is. And if he gets tired of Dennis, he definitely has the strength to walk away from their relationship relatively unscathed.

Summary: Mac was pretty much having fun playing a character (he even wanted his character’s name to be Griffin) and hanging out with Dennis and Dennis was stressed the hell out about Brian Jr.

Question 3: Charlie wanted to have sex? With The Waitress?

Answer 3: Yes. In “Charlie Has Cancer,” Charlie was visibly disappointed when he realized that he missed the chance to possibly have sex with The Waitress. In “Who Pooped the Bed?” a drunk Waitress stated that she would get drunker and bang a random dude and Charlie asked her if it could be him. In "The High School Reunion Part 2: The Gang’s Revenge,” when a drunk Waitress told the Gang that she’d bang the next person who talked to her, Charlie opened his mouth and stepped forward, but Schmitty came out of nowhere and The Waitress went home with him.

Summary: I know some people headcanon Charlie as ace and/or sex-repulsed (I personally headcanon him as gray ace) and that’s fine, but Charlie has expressed interest in having sex with The Waitress in the show.

Question 4: Why did the Waitress have sex with Charlie?

Answer 4: Surprisingly, the possibility of that happening was set up in a previous episode. In "Charlie and Dee Find Love,” (which was written by RCG) the Waitress reacted in an arguably jealous manner towards Charlie’s then-girlfriend Ruby (“Who the hell is this, Charlie?!”). Also, at the end of the episode, the Waitress told Charlie that she needed him in her life and that she was thinking about reducing his restraining order. Admittedly, the Waitress’ strange behavior was after Frank accidentally put rat poison in her shampoo (which made her sick) and hit her with his car (which put her in a hospital), so she could have some kind of permanent brain damage.

In the beginning of the show, the Waitress wasn’t attracted to Charlie, but was concerned about his well-being sometimes. (In "The Gang Gives Back,” she tried to help Charlie with his alcoholism) It’s possible that after “Charlie and Dee Find Love,” the Waitress’ view of Charlie started to change. As the years went on, the Waitress’ problems started to get worse and worse, and, like Cricket (her male counterpart), she still found herself continually drawn to the Gang. Even though she still thinks Charlie’s a mess, a part of her might think that he’s all that she has left. (And that might, sadly, be true) And, if Charlie can help her to fulfill her dream of having a baby, maybe things can get better for her.

Something I noticed as well is that the Waitress never said she loved Charlie back. It’s possible that she still doesn’t love Charlie and never will, but sees him simply as a partner that can help her to take care of her child. (Also, in order to get Frank’s money, she needs to be partnered with Charlie)

Question 5: What’s the deal with The Waitress acting the way she did after having sex with Charlie?

Answer 5: We don’t know that much about The Waitress, but we do know that she sometimes does/thinks weird stuff like the rest of the Gang. (In "Mac Bangs Dennis’ Mom,” The Waitress slept with Frank, a man she’s not attracted to at all, in an attempt to get back at Dennis because she thought he was cheating on her with older women. In “Charlie and Dee Find Love,” it’s hinted at that The Waitress might be stalking Dennis because she has his phone number even though he changed it. In “The Gang Group Dates,” after years of Dennis’ mistreatment of her, The Waitress was still excited about possibly being Dennis’ girlfriend.) Also, even though she was kind of aggressive towards Charlie, all of her points were valid, some of Charlie’s responses were dumb, and her dislike of Charlie is totally understandable.

Question 6: What’s the deal with Charlie freaking out after finally getting The Waitress’ attention?

Answer 6: Surprisingly, the possibility of that happening was set up in a previous episode. In Season 9’s "Flowers for Charlie,” Frank paid The Waitress to hang out with Charlie because he was getting worried about him after he started taking “intelligence” pills for an experiment. When the Waitress began talking about her life, Charlie immediately started getting annoyed, started hearing a ringing in his head, and had to leave. We found out at the end of the episode that these pills were placebos. Basically, this was a strong hint that Charlie might be in love with the idea of The Waitress, not the actual person. So, even though he has been stalking The Waitress for 15 years, he might not really want to be with the real her. (The fact that he thought of The Waitress’ negative reactions as a “game between them” is another hint, of course)

Also, even though Charlie fantasized about raising multiple children with The Waitress in “The Gang Saves the Day” (which aired before “Flowers for Charlie”), it was still a fantasy. Charlie might fantasize about having a nice house, a wife, and children, but he still likes living in his unfancy and dangerous apartment and doesn’t handle stress well. There are huge conflicts that he doesn’t see.

Also, keep in mind that he came up with the plan only a few hours earlier and he mentioned that he wanted to get The Waitress pregnant so she would be tied to him for life. (clearly no thought about the actual baby and being a father)

So, with Charlie being Charlie and the reality of the situation crashing on him, he is starting to freak out.

Summary: Charlie freaking out is 100% in character.

Question 7: Why was Charlie a butt to Dee after having sex with The Waitress?

Answer 7: Charlie is an idiot and a misogynist, so he projected his issues with women and The Waitress onto Dee. Also, as Charlie mentioned, Dee possibly tried to have sex with him an additional time after “The Gang Misses the Boat” and he didn’t want that to happen again that night. So, overly-stressed and tired Charlie absentmindedly begged Dee not to be a whore numerous times before immediately falling asleep on top of her because even though he has issues with women, he feels comfortable with Dee.

Summary: Charlie and Dee’s relationship in a nutshell.

Question 8: Why did Dennis want to leave the Gang to take care of Brian Jr.?

Answer 8: I get the vibe that this might have been the first time that Dennis actually held Brian Jr. (or he hasn’t held him in a while?). Holding the child made him really understand that he is a living, breathing being he created and not just an obstacle to overcome to get back to his usual life. And then the child knew who he was, which made everything feel even more heavy. This is the first time in Dennis’ life that he’s been responsible for someone other than himself. He knows that if he stays with the Gang, he’ll feel guilty for whatever happens to the child. He’ll feel guilty that the child knew who he was but couldn’t see him. And the fact that the Gang doesn’t comprehend this at all (Mac, for example, excitedly told him “The plan worked!”) pushed him even further away from them and towards his child.

Question 9: Why didn’t the Gang seem to care when Dennis left?

Answer 9: The Gang has a great track record of unusual responses to deaths and departures.

In “Dennis and Dee’s Mom Is Dead,” Dennis reacted to his mother’s death by partying/hazing guys in his mom’s house and Dee and Frank seriously considered grave robbing her. In "The Gang Gets a New Member,” Mac and Dennis had no problem kicking Charlie out of the Gang and replacing him with Schmitty. In "The Gang Beats Boggs,” Mac’s only response to a drunk Dennis spontaneously leaving their plane was to write the number of beers he consumed on his forehead. In "The Gang Misses the Boat,” the Gang “broke up,” yet everyone just spent the episode doing their own thing. In "Frank Retires,” the rest of the Gang started cheering and clapping after Frank declared that he would be retiring from the Gang. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

It’s very likely that the rest of the Gang is still in shock/denial about Dennis leaving and they are expecting him to come back soon like everyone always does.

Since the highlight of the night was firing Dennis’ RPG, they decided to not let Dennis’ departure stop them. (It also doubled as a nice, fiery distraction)

As for blowing up the Range Rover? They think Dennis intentionally left it and it’s the perfect target to take out any frustrations they had/have with Dennis. (This is also one of the reasons Mac, who gave Dennis his cherished RPG, is the one blowing up the Range Rover, one of Dennis’ most prized possessions)

When Dennis comes back, they can excitedly tell him that they blew up the Range Rover and it was awesome.

Question 10: Why did Dennis leave the Range Rover?

Answer 10: Dennis wants to take care of his child, which is a good thing, but he is clearly going through a crisis and is not thinking clearly. He mentally/emotionally disconnected himself from the Gang (notice that he said “The bar’s done” and turned off the lights even though the rest of the Gang is still there and can run the bar) and left everything that reminds him of the Gang behind (which explains why the Range Rover is still there). He did not even think about packing, called a taxi, and headed straight to the airport to fly to Mandy and Brian Jr.’s location. This is one of the reasons the ending feels so “off.” It mirrors Dennis’ mindset.

Question 11: Why did Dennis name his child after Brian Lefevre?

Answer 11: This was probably Mandy’s idea and Dennis went along with it because he couldn’t think of anything else. He also probably wasn’t in the right headspace to complain since he wasn’t ready to have a child.

Drunken Disaster - Stiles Stilinski

Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Reader.

Lydia was having a party tonight and you decided to skip out on it. You’d been to all of her parties before and you just weren’t feeling up to this one.

You were lying on your bed doing the reading for English when your phone went off. You picked it up and read the name on your screen. Stiles.

“Hey, what’s up?” You asked as you sat up, the bed squeaking underneath you.

“Heeeeeyyy, Y/N!” He yelled and you pulled the phone from your ear, cringing.

“Stiles, it’s after midnight.” You mutter, trying not to wake anyone else in the house.

“I know! I just think you’re pretty and I thought I’d call to tell you.” You blush at his remark. “Oh! And I need a ride, Scott went home and I can’t drive because you know….” He lowers his voice to a loud whisper. “I’m drunk.”

You roll your eyes and stick a bookmark in your assignment before slipping on your shoes. “I’m on my way.” You grab your keys and head for the front door. “Stiles, go wait outside for me.” You say as you get in your car.

“Okay! Thanks, Y/N! I love you!”

“I love you too, idiot.” You chuckle and hang up.

You pull up to the party and scan the front yard. No Stiles. You call him and he doesn’t answer. You look down at yourself and what you’re wearing and sigh. A tank top, athletic shorts, and converse. You shrug and pull the keys out of the ignition and head inside, scanning every room for the dark-headed boy. You spot him going upstairs and you run after him.

“Stiles!” You yell and he turns to look at you.

He waves and runs upstairs like a small child. Great. You run after him, chasing him into a bedroom.

“Mieczyslaw Stilinski.“ You say authoritatively. You put your hands on your hips and give him a look.

“What?” He says innocently before grinning. “I’m sorry, I just want you to party with me!” He dances his way over to you, making you laugh. He grabs your hands and pulls you to him, moving his hips against yours.

“Stiles.” You warn. “I have to get you home.”

“No, I can’t go home.” He pouts and gives you puppy dog eyes.

“Then you’ll sleep at my house.” You say and grab his hand tightly you pull him downstairs and out of the house. You help him into the car and get in on your side.

“Stiles put your seatbelt on.” You say as you put the car into gear. He buckles up and you head home.

“Y/N.” Stiles says quietly.

“Yeah?” You turn to look at him, pulling up to a red light.

“You’re a good friend.” He smiles and looks at you, putting his hand on top of yours on the steering wheel.

You return the smile and take off when the light turns green.

“Thanks, Stiles.” You look at his hand on top of yours.

“We’re here.” You say and you both get out, you leading him inside. “Be quiet.” You whisper and he nods.

You leave him in your room and you go to get him some water. When you return he’s knocked out on your bed.

“Stiles.” You whisper, shaking his arm. He grunts in response.

“You need to change.” You say, sitting beside him on the bed.

He groans and sits up, taking his shirt off. You take it from him and you grab some clothes from his drawer in your dresser. You take his shoes off of him and he takes his pants off, lying back down.

“Stiles…” You sigh. “You have to get dressed. I’m not sleeping with you half naked.” You look at him, his eyes already shut and you shake your head. You are going to sleep with him half naked.

You wake up the next morning and you roll over to see Stiles watching you.

“What?” You sit up and look at him. You reach over him and grab the water and an aspirin before handing them both to him.

He takes them and continues looking at you. “Did we…” He points between the both of you.

You laugh and nod. “Yeah.”

His eyes widen and he bites his lip. “Awesome.”

You smack his arm and shake your head. “I’m just kidding! I brought you home and you knocked out.”

“Oh.” He laughs and takes the pill.

“To be fair you did call me pretty.” You say as he rubs his temples.

He grins and looks at you. “A drunk man always tells the truth.”

Anyone interested in a Hanahaki Disease AU?

So Hanahaki Disease is a fictional illness where unrequited love triggers flowers to start blooming inside a person’s lungs until they suffocate. If the illness is caught early enough before the flowers begin blooming, the person can take medication to stop the buds from doing any damage. Once the flowers start blooming in the second stage, your only hope is to have them removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals. It can be cured without side effects only when the feelings are returned an the flowers wither and die.

So the story begins when Lance realizes that he’s in love with Keith.
He’s really happy and thinks he has a good chance of the feelings being requited because they’ve been friends since high school and, come on, Lance is a catch.

Then Keith begins dating someone from their university. Depression hits Lance hard, but he keeps up a mask in front of everyone and no one suspects a thing is wrong.

Then comes the faithful night that Lance wakes up in a violent coughing fit that just wont stop. Once his lungs decide to work properly again, he’s shocked to find small petals in the palm of his hand.

Que the panic.

Ok, so while Hanahaki is the only illness to involve choking on flowers, He doesn’t really know the fundamentals of it. So he turns to the trusty Google and finds out that he’s in the second stage of Hanahaki. He can’t take the pills that stop the flowers from blooming like in the first stage and his only option to get rid of them is surgery.

But the surgery would make him forget Keith and maybe even make him Aromantic like a few survivors say they become after the surgery. And look, the thing is, that sounds horrible. Keith is more then his first love and first heart break, he’s one of Lance’s best friends and he makes Lance happy, even when he doesn’t love him back.

So Lance decides Not to do the surgery and make the most of the time he’s got left. He doesn’t tell anyone because he knew it would lead to them convincing him that the surgery was for the best. He spends time with his friends and family and makes sure everyone knows how much he loves them all.

He plans to confess to Keith so he doesn’t have any regrets and makes sure Keith knows that it’s his choice to die loving him versus living without remembering him.

But then a really bad coughing fit starts up and won’t stop. He begins gagging on petals and its getting harder to breath. Panic begins to set when his vision gets blurry and he starts shouting for help. He hears Hunk shouting. Then he hacks up a blood soaked flower before passing out.

He wakes up in the hospital.

Shiro is sitting at his bedside and explains that Hunk found Lance and brought him to the hospital before calling the others and how lucky he is that the doctors were able to remove all the flowers with emergency surgery. Shiro asks why he didn’t tell anyone he was sick and they have a heart to heart. After that, Shiro leaves to find a doctor and call the rest of the gang. “Keith’s gonna be so mad. This is the first time he’s left your side since you got out of surgery.”

Shiro left the room before Lance could ask who ‘Keith’ was.

I Wasn’t Joking

So maybe it wasn’t a good idea to lay down on the top floor of a parking garage when a storm was in the forecast. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to let Connor go outside after being sick for a week. Maybe Evan should have brought an umbrella. “Do you need more blankets?“

Connor shook his head sipping his chamomile tea that Heidi had bought for the many times the copper haired teen came over. He shivered from under the blankets that Evan had retrieved from his room. Feeling Connor’s forehead he winced.

“I think your fever is back.” He got up from the living room couch and walked into the kitchen. Prepping a damp washcloth Connor coughed from the other room. He couldn’t take pills anymore so home remedies would have to do. “Connor, you should get out of those blankets, theyll make your fever worse.” He tugged on the thickest one, pulling it from Connors shoulders.

“Make me.” Setting down his tea in the coffee table Connor pulled them closer.

“Connor. Give. Please.”

“Don’t make me stop you.”

“Connor, please give me the blankets!” Evan scolded pulling another blanket. Earning a smug grin he was pulled forward practically on top of the feverish teen. “S-sorry!”

“I said dont make me stop you.” Their faces were inches apart, Evans heart clenched. “I’m going to kiss you if you try to take them away and get you sick.“

Connor glared at Evan’s flushed face, getting a couple laughs in response. "That’s such a weird threat.” The honey blond smiled backing up a bit and sitting across from him on the couch. He was still glaring at Evan, less menacingly than he would when he was annoyed. “C'mon, give.” The blankets tore away from Connor in a single pull causing him to get up and walk next to the couch, just to look down at Evan. “I’m just trying to h-”

Connor’s chapped lips were on his in seconds, nothing intrusive, just a rough peck on the lips. He picked up the blankets from Evan’s hands and curled up in them again, closing his eyes. Evan stared at him.

“What?”

“I-I thought you were j-just joking.”

“I wasn’t.” Connor opened one eye raising his eyebrow at Evan.
“Well I get that now…” he felt his lips for the hovering warmth, which had slowly faded. Connor stared at him from the far end of the couch. “Why?”

“Are you fucking serious? Evan I’m delusional with a fever, impatient, and you’re right here with stupid fucking raindrops in your hair. Why wouldn’t I kiss you?”

“Because I’m a mess.”

“Fine, I won’t do it ever again if it made you upset."

"I didn’t say that.”

“Didn’t you?” Connor challenged burrowing even farther into his pile of blankets. Evan looked down at his shirt messing with the hem. He moved closer to Connor, shaky hands pushing away his mess of hair that hung over his angular face.

“I didn’t say that.” He kissed his nose softly taking the blankets back again and placing the cold damp rag on Connor’s forehead. “We can try this again when you’re not sick, okay?”

The taller boy grumbled out an okay, closing his eyes. Evan smiled touching his lips again, truth be told he was glad Connor hadn’t been joking.

Feverish || Dick Grayson x Reader

I’m really sick right now and have been reading dick grayson and peter parker stories to keep me company 。゚(TヮT)゚。

this is the first time i’ve ever written for a dc character, so if it turns out a little “meh”, and is ooc, forgive me.

Warnings: none, tho my style of writing may be a little off since I’m running a lowkey fever while writing this.

**dont repost/plagiarize this story.**

——

You were so sick; your whole body was aching and you felt the sweat collect all across your feverish body. You moan and bury yourself deeper into your bed, trying to ignore the incessant vibrations coming from your phone.

You knew that it was your boyfriend checking on you, but you were honestly too weak to move. Even the slightest movement such as tilting your head toward your nightstand was enough to make a wave of nausea go through you.

There was a special kind of hell that came with getting sick in the middle of summer. The hot days became nearly unbearable against your flushed skin, and the fact that your air conditioning was practically broken certainly didn’t help with your situation.

Because of this, you were bedridden with the window to your room wide open. The cool and refreshing winds that blew during the night was soothing for you, and you sigh in a deeply content manner at feeling something cold against your heated skin.

Your throat was parched when you groan, forcing yourself to sit up while steadying your shaky body to the best of your abilities. Looking to see the tall glass of water settled on your nightstand, you drink the rest of the warm water, shakily placing the glass back on the table. You could feel your body getting weaker since you hadn’t eaten anything since last night, but this fever was honestly ruining your appetite.

You honestly wanted to cry. It seemed impossible for you to get better, and you wanted desperately for your boyfriend to come and take care of you-

But you didn’t want to burden him, or worse- make him get sick because of you.

This is what prompted you to ignore all of his texts and calls. You knew that you would get over this fever eventually, so long as your body decided to stop hating you.

While you had your face buried within the palm of your hand in hopes of lessening the ache against your temple, you heard a sudden movement coming from your window. Looking toward the source of the sound, you let out a gasp at seeing Nightwing enter your bedroom.

He looks at your haggard form through his mask and gently calls out your name, “Darling, you look awful. Why didn’t you tell me that you were sick?”

“Wha- wha- what? My- my n-name, how you…know it?” Your fever was definitely making your mind feel a little woozy. Why else would you suddenly conjure up image of the hot vigilante of Gotham City in your room?

Despite how you were 75% sure that this was a fever dream, something about Nightwing felt very real to you. When he joins you in your bed, you felt the mattress actually dip down with his added weight as he places his gloved hand on your face, “Ssssh, don’t speak. You sound awful and your whole body is burning up.”

His touch seems to linger on your skin, and you had to slap his hand away before telling him with a slur, “Hands off meeeee!! I have a very handsome boyfrieeend and he could kick your ass!!”

Nightwing was not fazed by your words, seeming to find great amusement in them when he lets out a chuckle, “Oh believe me, I know about you and your boyfriend.”

He finally gets off the bed, running a hand through his jet black hair while you respond, “Good! Because Dick Grayson is a fucking god and I love him so fucking much!!” Just thinking about your boyfriend made tears form against your eyes when you begin to whine to Nightwing, “God, I really wish Dick was here right now so that he could take care of me and spoil meeeeeee. Ugh, I feel so sick!! But at the same time, I don’t wanna be a shitty girlfriend and get HIM sick!!”

Nightwing lets out a tiny chuckle, “Don’t worry babe, that’s why I’m here.” He playfully ruffles your hair before stepping out of your room, seeming to know the way to your kitchen when you heard some noises coming from it.

After waiting for ten minutes, Nightwing finally returns to your room with a tray containing a steaming hot bowl of soup, some medicine, and a glass of water. He sets the tray on the nightstand and holds the bowl of soup, “Here, you need to eat before taking your medicine. I’ll feed you.”

The soup smelled delicious, yet you were hesitant to allow Nightwing to feed you because he wasn’t Dick. “You’re not my boyfriend.”

You could tell that he was rolling his eyes at you, “Well your boyfriend is busy right now and can’t take care of you, so I have to.”

“Don’t talk shit about Dick!”

“I’m not talking shit, I just want you to let me take care of you!”

“You’re an ass-” A spoon filled with lukewarm broth cuts off your words, and you practically moan at how good the soup tasted against your tongue. It wasn’t too heavy and the warmth felt heavenly against your empty stomach.

No longer arguing with Nightwing, you allow him to feed you, and you end up finishing the soup in just a few minutes. Feeling a bit better with some sustenance in your system, you wipe your moist lips with the back of your hand and look up at Nightwing, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” The handsome hero was smiling now when he takes out two pills for you. Holding out the green gel tablets with the glass of water in his other hand, you see Nightwing lift his eyebrow in question, “So can you be a big girl and take these by yourself, or do you need my help?”

You manage to glare at him weakly for teasing you, “I can t-take them!” You hold out a hand to him, making him drop both tablets on your hand. Placing both pills in your mouth, you take the glass of water from his hand and take a big gulp from it-

Only to have both pills come out of your mouth as you choked a bit on the water. Several painful coughs came out of your mouth, causing Nightwing to let out an exasperated sigh at your antics. “You idiot, you’re supposed to take them one at a time.”

He takes the pills and glass of water from you, shocking you when he places the pills in his mouth before drinking the water. Leaning down, he grasps at your chin with his strong hand before suddenly kissing you. Your gasp was all he needed to transfer the pills and copious amount of water into your mouth, helping you swallow the medication when he moves the pills and water down your throat with the tip of his tongue.

With the medication finally in your system, you pull away from the sort of kiss to shyly look at Nightwing with a blush on your face, “Y-You kiss like my boyfriend does.”

His chuckle was filled with an unbidden mirth, “Is that so? Your boyfriend must be quite the lady’s man, then.”

“He is, but he promised me that he was mine and mine alone.” You let out a sleepy yawn, feeling your eyelids turn heavy when you continue, “Shit, Richard’s gonna be so mad at me when I tell him Nightwing kissed me. I gotta be truthful or else he’s gonna break up with me…”

“He won’t be too mad at you. I just helped you take your medicine.” Nightwing then coaxes you to lie down, throwing the blankets around your form before placing a kiss against your forehead, “Now sleep, sweetheart. And get better soon.”

You were close to dozing off when Nightwing stepped toward your window, ready to jump out of it when you hoarsely called out to him, “Nightwing?”

His back stiffens at the sound of your voice, “Yes?”

“You remind me…of Dick Grayson. I love him so much…”

He chuckles and looks back at you, “I love you too, [Name].”

Before you could ask him why he loved you, Nightwing was long gone as he escaped from your room through your window. His words made your cheeks heat up, and you found yourself falling asleep with a smile on your face.

Whether this was all a fever dream or not, you knew that this night would be an unforgettable one for you.

Maybe not as spectacular as “The Robe” (x)
but Edward Nygma uses the same cup when he takes the pill before hallucinating Oswald Cobblepot in 3x15 as Oswald brings him something to drink in and tries to comfort him in 3x5. It seems it´s part of the service that has a rather prominent place in the painting Oswald has had painted of them both. A cup as symbol for connection .. ?

Concept: The Power Rangers doing the bottle flip challenge

Billy is the best. One minute into the game and he’s already developed the technique to do it, which pisses Jason, Kim, and Trini off.

Zack is second best. Unlike Billy, he’s playfully taunting the others because they suck at bottle flipping. He stops taunting after Trini gives him the death stare.

Kim is third best. However, she isn’t really playing since she’s recording the game for their shared YouTube channel, which has already racked thousands of subscribers.

Jason is fourth best. After a LOT of failed attempts, he takes a humble pill and asks Billy and Zack for help. Zack never lets him forget about it while Billy is just happy to help.

Trini is fifth best and by default the worst. Billy keeps offering to teach her the technique but she turns him down each time. It has to be her way, that’s her goal. When she finally does a successful bottle flip, Kimberly uploads it on YouTube as “TRINI’S GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT”, much to her chagrin. But they all laugh it off afterwards.

Who You've Become

Summary: How Charles got his plants in Logan.

“Logan, he needs a hobby. He may be senile but—“

“Don’t you ever call him that. That’s the Professor you’re talking about. He has one of the strongest minds in the world.”

“That might have been, once. But now? You can’t possibly believe that he’s anything but half mad anymore. Even when he takes his pills, he’s half mad and only a quarter coherent. Maybe you don’t notice, but I can’t help but to. I spend most of the day with him, Logan.”

@fandomsunitedposts said “Pet Monsters” for a prompt!
Thank you for the awesome prompt, I hope you like it!

Ken stops trusting his dad when he’s ten, sitting on the couch and watching westerns. Sedan, Ken’s pet, is nestling under Ken’s shirt. Sedan’s been going through growth spurts lately, trying to figure what he’s going to be, and he hasn’t been so good at regulating his own body heat. So Ken does it for him.

Marcus, his dad’s pet, a huge, hundred pound bloodhound, is lying in front of the TV, snoring softly. He’s never been particularly fond of Ken, but Ken likes the look of him, lazy and content like his dad who’s eating potato chips out of his hand.

On screen, the sheriff twirls his gun, lighting up the deserted street with one, two, three shots. The bad guy, dressed all in black, yells and his pet roars. When the last crack fades, the bad guy is lying dead, flat on his back, and his pet, a fanged horse, is lying sightless next to him, dead before it hit the ground.

“They ain’t got wolves there, son,” his dad says, eyes glued to the screen. “Bad guys, they got proper evil things, unearthly things. There’s a reason the good guys shoot him in the heart, you know. It’s so the monster dies too.”

Ken’s heart leaps into his throat and, unconsciously, he presses Sedan closer into his stomach. Sedan’s been growing lately and last week, last week he’d sprouted another leg, bringing the count up to six.

That’s not even mentioning the horns.
