i think its weird when people interpret gabriel as some kind of loose canon, as if he isnt canonly one of the greatest tactical minds in the overwatch universe; its important to note that in light of the omnic crisis, humanity’s greatest struggle against them was that omnics continuously evolved and strategized to counter humans without any moral perimeters. so, the fact that the overwatch strike team that gabriel led is what pulled humanity out of the crisis says a lot– it says that under gabriels leadership, they managed to outsmart and outfight and subdue the omnics. under gabriels leadership, they took the world back for humans. its hard to comprehend the enormity of what a small, apparently seven man unit did, but they really did literally save the world. so like… interpreting gabriel as chaotic good is fine and all, and dont get me wrong, the dude does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, but the fact of the matter is that it obviously works. gabriel reyes wasn’t just shooting off into the dark. he wasn’t just getting lucky. gabe is a goddamn genius and you gotta wonder what the hell he’s up to, because i can assure you, he’s doing it with purpose.
Where does Keith, lance and pidge participate in the altean!Hunk and Altean! Shiro?
Keith grew up as a Galra with the blade of marmora. Notices he ages fast (like I hc Galrans have long lifespans) Keith discovers he is half human and travels to Earth to find some answers and look into clues for Voltron. Figures out how to shift into his human form, joins the Garrison, gets kicked out (similar in the show basically).
Lance and Pidge are gonna remain human (the reason for this is because Coran is an instructor at the garrison and Allura is a senior office, what position Shiro had and got suspended/fired which was do with with her digging around into her Father’s death. So Allura is Lance’s hero, that I dig and Coran is one of their instructors, their fav one)
I’m thinkin then Altean!Shiro crashes to Earth (maybe escaping the Galra) but also a piece of Altean technology which Allura discovers and links her to the castleship. Gang saves Altean!Shiro, find out Keith’s half alien then find Blue Lion and off they go into space and find Altean!Hunk.
don’t you just stand in awe at what kusanagi did here? because i do. she said awfully lot about multiple characters without letting them even speak about it.
she is using her characters to explain each other. like did soo won say anything about himself? anything at all beside those two clipped shocking lines? did he make any certain expressive expression in the two panels he appeared in? non. but why does it feels he was there the whole time? because indeed he was, in the eyes of other character. because he was viewed through their own, mind you, completely different, views.
we got min soo’s view of why he may be hated, ogi’s view of why he may be loved, and in these views we saw the confusion. even though min soo does hate him, he can’t help but seems to understand his actions considering his position as a king. while even though ogi loves him, he can’t help but mind his betrayal. they actually represent us the readers. all akayona fans are divided into these two confused views when it comes to soo won. and there goes kusangi, making you relate with secondary characters who appeared for what? 2 chapters? because you think the same, you almost said “me too!” at one point (tell me i kept saying it every time ogi spoke) all while making these characters help explain the main, complicated one.
Kusanagi is using her cast in the most flawless brilliant manner to build the story. the world feels so real and complete on its own it’s like she isn’t even there. like, yes, she is practically feeding us pain, but doing it so magically i can’t even complain.
What if most alien species reproduce like avians or reptiles with large clutches of eggs which they don’t spend much time with, so the concept of raising a child inside of oneself is absolutely disgusting.
Y’xplc wandered the corridors of the ship in the middle of the night-not that it mattered in space. Most everyone was in their sleeping pods, but he heard shouts from the humans’ pod. He scuttled over as quickly as he could to investigate. There were clearly loud shouts and signs of aggression.
“I don’t want to have the baby here!” Human-Sarah cried, “In space! What if something goes wrong- what if the spaceship air hurts it. What if-”
“That won’t happen,” Jane interrupted her, “Nothing’s going to happen to the baby,” Jane soothed.
This outburst surprised Y’xplc, surely human-Sarah couldn’t be concerned. The air was kept at a stable oxygen level for most species. And there were incubators for all species, the eggs would be kept safe.
Human-Sarah had been absorbed into the crew for the most part. After a few words with Jane, the message about the shrieking had been conveyed and she had stayed quieter. Sarah even taught some of the crew-mates how to play chess. Many hours waiting in deep space were spent staring at a chess-board interspersed with some compulsory cursing as pieces were taken.
Human-Sarah had warmed up to the aliens and was friendly with everyone, though it wasn’t hard to notice how she shied away from direct contact with anyone, Jane.
However, in the recent weeks, Human-Sarah had been getting moodier. Y’xplc assumed it had something to do with the eggs. But when he went to the incubator there were not any eggs there. Perhaps the laying cycle was not going well.
Months passed and Y’xplc began to notice other things as well; human-Sarah was eating excessively and was gaining weight, a lot of weight. Progesterone levels were also increased to an unhealthy amount.
Eventually, Y’xplc contacted human-Jane about. She was under the belly of a generator fixing it with a sonic wrench.
“Human-Jane,” He asked, “Is human-Sarah ok?”
“What do you mean,” Jane looked up “Is she hurt?”
‘No, but she is gaining weight rapidly and it’s noticeable as well as increased progesterone level.”
“Oh,” Jane let out a rush of carbon-dioxide. “That’s just because of the baby,” She explained
“But there are no eggs in the incubator,” Y’xplc questioned, “Are you keeping them elsewhere,”
There were a few species who liked to keep the eggs safe with their own body-heat as part of their customs.
“Eggs? What does this have to do with eggs,” Jane asked confused. “The eggs-your offspring.” “Y’xplc,” she garbled, “Humans are mammals we carry are babies in us.” “What?” Y’xplc couldn’t hold back a sound of disgust. “That’s why she’s gaining weight and eating so much, she has to feed the baby/” “That’s like a parasite,” Y’xplc unconsciously scuttled backward.
Human Jane's eyes narrowed angrily, “Our baby is not a parasite.”
In the coming weeks, human Sarah’s belly swelled to unimaginable sizes and she spent most of her days lying in bed. Jane too was preoccupied with the baby and Sarah. She was reading books on human child-care almost constantly whens he wasn’t fetching Sarah food.
Most of the other aliens kept a wide berth from the baby inside of Sarah. The idea of keeping one’s young inside of themselves was absolutely disgusting.
Then one day, Y'xplc her screams from their pod. "It’s starting,” Human-Sarah half screamed, half groaned. “the contractions." Many hours later a squirming ball of flesh popped out of human Sarah’s reproductory region. It was tiny and delicate. It’s smooth round head. Human-Jane carefully swaddled it into a soft blanket and handed it to human-Sarah.
"Your baby. It’s a she,” Jane smiled.
“Our baby,” Human-Sarah sighed in relief. “It has your genetic code."
The baby soon became a constant on the ship. Its wails punctuated the night and were subsequently followed by either Jane or Sarah cooing and shushing before providing it with sustenance.
Y'xplc documented the babies growth and wondered why humans would give birth in such a dangerous and painful manner. Well, humans were weird.
Hi! I love your post of Keith things soo much. I was just wondering if you can expand on him being self-conscious about his temper and which episodes he shows this?
[/EDIT: I rewrote and restructred this answer a little, just so that it makes more sense & flows better. I also added another example, but the general message is the same.]
Hey there :D Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the post!! And sure thing, he doesn’t really show it often, but I’ll explain why I think he feels self-conscious about his temper.
Before I start with the 3 scenes I want to talk about, let’s establish something first - that he knows he has a temper and knows that he needs to work on it. He shows awareness of that quite often, so I’ll just mention s1e1, the first time it becomes apparent. It’s on his mission to find Red. “Patience yields focus” makes an appearance, which something that he carries with himself all the way to season 2. He wouldn’t have done that if it didn’t mean anything to him. He definitely knows that it is something he has to work on.
Next - the self-conscious part. Let me make another thing clear:
Being self-conscious about something does not mean being insecure about it. That’s very important in regards to Keith’s character, who is absolutely self-confident in himself. What I have to prove is not that he is insecure about his temper but that he can be uncomfortably aware of it.
Moving on to the actual meta part. Surprisingly, the moments where Keith seems to feel guilty and/or self-conscious about his temper usually aren’t around Shiro. Maybe that’s because they know each other so well. Maybe it’s because Shiro has called him out on it often enough that he has gotten used to it. Maybe it’s because Shiro is pretty nice about calling him out, he usually just tells him to “work on it”.
No, the moments where he shows being self-conscious the most are around Lance. There is that scene in the Balmera in s1e7 (I zoomed in on his expressions here):
“We can’t just go in and blow things up like a psycho!”
Oops. That’s what his face is saying after being presented with a simple and better plan. Keith definitely feels guilty and self-conscious here for not thinking things through. There is not much explanation needed, it’s all in the facial expressions.
Something like that happens again in s2e8. There are 2 scenes in this episode that I want to talk about. Firstly, Hunk and Allura voicing the thought that the Blade of Marmora base could be just a trap, followed by Hunk saying “maybe we shouldn’t go in there at all.” Keith absolutely blows up at him - and then there comes Lance:
“Okay, geez, calm down!”
And Keith’s reaction?
Turning away. He actually calms down and turns away. He didn’t apologize, but the silence is heavy. He was definitely uncomfortably aware that he had just yelled at Hunk for next to no reason.
The next scene comes when Shiro picks Keith to accompany him into the base and Lance does not agree with this decision. “But Keith’s a hothead! He’s probably gonna shoot first and ask questions later and they’re not gonna be able to answer his questions because they’re gonna be dead!”
Keith’s reaction to that statement is what initially convinced me that he is self-conscious about his temper:
He looks away. His eyebrows raise. He feels like Lance is right about what he is saying and he definitely feels bad about it. It’s the definition of a “guilty as charged” face. And since we know that Keith shows pretty much every emotion he feels on his face, I think it’s safe to say that he feels self-conscious here.
Unfortunately, there is not much other material to go of. Shiro is kind of Keith’s safe spot (explained earlier) and none of the other paladins have ever confronted Keith about his temper. But Lance isn’t afraid of calling him out in the “hey, you are wrong about that" way - Shiro just tells him to be more patient and “work on it”. With Lance, there is no sugarcoating it. His reactions get especially powerful if you compare it to their usual behavior: Keith is not the type to get hyper aware of himself just because Lance said something unflattering about him. They are fighting far too often for that. And we know that his usual reaction is to just fight back or grimace heavily and stay quiet. Not this.
So, to summarize - Keith isn’t overly self-conscious about his temper, it’s mostly just a part of himself that he isn’t proud of. He usually just kind of deals with it, but when someone bluntly puts it in the spotlight and really makes him aware of what he is doing, his self-consciousness shines through. That does not make him any less self-confident.
Jin is in the V+ chat saying his self esteem is higher and it just makes me so happy; not only because he’s happier, but also because he’s able to fight through his down times and come out on the other side and say things are better now, and that’s just so inspirational. Jin is out there working on himself and working with his issues, and that makes me want to do the same in my own life, and I’m so thankful for him every day.
Meg Giry is a well-developed character with a crucial role in the plot of The Phantom of the Opera, and her relationship to the whole Opera Ghost situation is already unique and important without her being headcanoned as Secretly In Love With Erik The Whole Time, or pitted against Christine, her best friend whom she loved dearly and would never have hurt
many things that happened in Bambam’s vlive Q and A:
- Jinyoung was wearing a beret and also shorts
- Jinyoungs favorite movies are Scent of a Woman and Dark Knight (which are like 2 wayyyy different movies lol)
- Bambam definitely does not like the shipping between members (he mentioned it a lot)
- his favorite youtuber is Pewdiepie (he then imitated Pewdiepie)
- his favorite anime is Naruto
- he doesn’t like pokemon so that’s why he doesn’t play Pokémon Go
- he chooses Prove It over Sign (and apologized to Youngjae)
- he thought about dyeing his hair red next but decided against it
- he’s hotel rooming with Yugyeom and said 97 line room only!
- someone asked if he was a unicorn and he replied “no, Im human, man!” ( ok so why do people ask these types of question but also why did he answer it seriously omg it was cute tho)
- he said that he’s not going to be doing vlive for a longggg time (I don’t know why but that’s what he said 😟)
- he said “bye bye” really cutely
