So this fluffy Percabeth oneshot is for @percyyoulittleshit! I hope you like it Mari! :D

Honestly this was quite a lot of fun to write, so I hope everyone enjoys reading it!

“It feels like we haven’t seen each other in ages,” Percy complained, as he walked through the cabin area of Camp Half-Blood. It was a sunny August day, and many campers were milling about.

“I know, Seaweed Brain, but you know I’ve been so busy helping with the New Athens plans. And you’ve been doing a lot of training sessions. Besides, that’s why we’re having our picnic today!” Annabeth said happily.

Percy nodded, his usual smile returning to his face. He grabbed her hand, ready to take her to the beach, where he had planned on having their picnic, when someone interrupted them.

“Percy! Annabeth!” Piper shouted from behind them, panting out of breath. “We need you.” She was dressed in shorts and a blue t-shirt, and Rachel was next to her, a small smile on her face, dressed in her usual paint-stained attire.

“For what?” Percy asked reluctantly. “We were just about to–”

“There’s a meeting in the Big House,” Rachel said, interrupting Percy. “Chiron says you guys need to be there. There’s no time for you to go to the beach–you need to come now.”

Percy looked at Annabeth, disappointment written on his face. “I guess we have to go.”

“It shouldn’t matter too much.” Annabeth smiled. “How about afternoon tea?”

“Who has sandwiches for tea?” Percy grumbled halfheartedly.

Annabeth rolled her eyes.

“Fine,” Percy turned to Rachel and Piper. “We’re coming.”

“Great,” Piper said, her eyes brightening. “Let’s go.”

Percy and Annabeth followed them, now focused fully on what this emergency meeting would be about.

“Well, that was a waste of time,” Percy said in annoyance, as he and Annabeth walked out of the Big House over an hour later.

“Oh my god! I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Madison squeals. The sound would be endearing if it weren’t right in Mason’s ear.

“Shhhhhh! I can’t hear them!” He hisses up toward his sister’s voice, aiming for her ear, and ends up with a mouthful of pink feathers and felt. She keeps squealing, but lowers the volume to a high, frenetic hum. He shouldn’t care. It’s not like any of them are good spies. After all, most super spies don’t accessorize in rainbow tulle.

Their loss, really, he thinks. The tutus are awesome. And even if they aren’t the best spies, the tulle isn’t making them any worse.

Runaways Part 6

What?  I actually sat down and finished this part!  I want to apologize for the wait on all of my fics, but now that I have been bitten by the writing bug again, I plan on staying on top of the fics.  I do want it to be known that I am not too sure how many more parts this will be, I am thinking maybe 3 to 4 more parts but I am not too sure.

This part here isn’t too long either.  I was either going to write one MONSTER part or I was going to break it up and just because I feel like I have been a let down I decided to break it up, this part is only about 3300+ words.

Anyways, enough about me and my woes,

Here we go:

Rae sat nervously in the café, twisting her steaming mug of tea around and round.  Pulling on the string of the tea bag, allowing it to slide just to the tip of the cup and dropping it slowly.

Her knee shook with anticipation.  She didn’t know if this was a mistake.  Maybe if she just went back to her and Finn’s flat and acted like this never happened then she would be fine.  She could easily make it back there before Finn did and come up with an excuse as to why she didn’t go to work.

She picked up her mug and brought it to her lips, allowing the familiar smell of the peppermint tea to flow up her nostrils.  She slowly took a sip and relished in the flavor.  Peppermint was the only flavor of tea that she didn’t need to drown in milk and sugar, plain peppermint tea just made things right, and as Finn said makes everything all right.  Just like right now, she set this up and now she needs to see it through.

She once again continued to spin her cup around, spinning it each time perfectly making sure it was an exact 360.

Rae heard the door open but didn’t look up to see who had come in, considering she was early.  This was a mistake she thought, how could she expect someone to just drop everything in less than a days time and expect them to come and meet her.  She knew she was crazy but this is just pathetic.

She jumped when she saw and heard the chair in front of her get dragged across the floor.

“Hello Rachel.”

“Kester.”  She looked up with a half smile.  She had learned to really confide inside of him through out their years that he was her therapist.

“Well look at you, pregnancy, although unplanned, suits you.”  He smiled but it did not reach his eyes.

“No need to lie here Kester.”  She huffed as she continued to spin the cup.

“I am not lying Rae, you look like you are glowing but I am a little concerned.  When you called me and said you wanted to meet up I had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn’t to ask if you can name the baby after me now was it?”  He chuckled.

“Kester Nelson? Doesn’t really have a ring to it now does it?”  She looked at him he smiled at her again.

“No, I guess not.” Kester looked around the café and spotted the ordering counter.

“I’m going to get a coffee, need a refill?”  He offered but she shook her head no.  He nodded his head once and made his way over to the barista behind the counter.  He ordered and kept looking back at Rae.

Her cheeks were starting to burn with embarrassment, other then Finn’s dad, Kester was the only one who knew that she was pregnant.  He knew the one thing that she hasn’t even trusted with her best friend.

He made his way back to the table a coffee and two chocolate biscotti’s.  He took his seat again across from Rae.

“Here you are, got you a biscotti.”  He set the plate down in the middle offering Rae to choose first.  She thanked him grabbed one and took a bite.  They sat in a familiar comfortable silence.  The only noise that was being made between the pair was their chewing and sipping.

“So, have you, have you talked to my mum?”  Rae finally asked breaking the silence.

“I have.”  He confided.

“And?  Does she know that, I’m, you know.”  She pointed down to her swelling belly.

“Are you asking if I broke the number one rule of being a therapists?  I vowed to keep all things between doctor client privileges unless it would be harmful to you or others.  Now, do I agree with the decision you and Finn have made to run off and try to do this on your own?  No, but no harm is happening correct?”

Rae nodded.

“Good.  Now, the fact that I had your mother Linda in tears in my office the day after you left, which was a day of your appointment was confusing at first, I did suspect that you told her and she was there to ask me for advice.  But instead, she wanted to know if you were in danger, if I knew where you have ran off to. Now, the shock was not lost on me.”

Kester took a long sip of his coffee.  “Leeds? What on earth is in Leeds for the two of you and Finn, Rae?”

Rae looked down at her cooling by the minute tea.  She wanted to take another sip to avoid the question, but she knew it was just prolonging the inevitable.

“Finn’s Uncle.”  Rae shrugged.

“His Uncle?  What does Finn’s uncle have to do with any of this?” Kester asked confused.

“Um.  Well it’s a long story.”  Rae again tried to stall.

“Oh Rae, we both know I have time,” Kester said as he leaned back in his chair as to prompt Rae to start.

She huffed out a long breath.  “You see, I was brickin’ it having to tell Finn and well he found the pamphlets ya gave me.  So he panicked, I panicked and I don’t know.  He came over and said he talked to his uncle and he gave him a job out here. His uncle hardly comes by, so he is completely unaware of the baby.  When he comes, I either lie in bed or stay seated with a throw or pillow over this beast. He just thinks Finn and I are crazy teenagers who can’t be separated I guess.”

“Hm, complicated.  But then again I’ve known you for two years now. Was I expecting simple?”  Kester laughed.  “Are you happy here?”

Rae finally looked up from her mug and looked at Kester.  “No.”  She admitted.

“Why not?”  He pressed.

“I miss home.  It’s not right that we are here, trying to do our best for our son but, but there are people in Lincolnshire that won’t be happy with us.  Mum first and the gang, Chloe, Chloe is going to hate me.”  She confided.

“What’s stopping you two from telling the truth then?”

Rae sat and stared at Kester with her mouth hanging open, she didn’t have an answer for that.

“The truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.”  Kester said as he started to set his hands crossed on the table.

“Have you gotten wiser since I last saw you?”  Rae teased.

“I would like to think so but unfortunately, that bit of wisdom is bestowed to us from Galileo.” He and Rae both started to laugh.

Rae sighed and looked at Kester seriously.  “What if they hate us from keeping this from them?”

“Then you allow them to express their anger.  You allow them to empty their feelings towards this.  I am not going to be short with your Rae.  This was a difficult choice you and Finn had to make and you have made them.  The only thing you can do now, is move forward from it.  Do you want to go home?”

Rae nodded.

“Do you want your friends to know?”  Rae nodded again.

“And your mother?” Rae nodded and this time tears sprang to her eyes.

“Well then there is only thing I can tell you, congratulations.”  Kester smiled.

“Congratulations?” Rae repeated confused.

“Well remember this Rae, when I walked in here, I had no idea what situation I was walking in to. We have all been kept in the dark. It was a relief seeing you sitting here glowing with child.  You had multiple choices here for you to choose from.  I also was pleased to know that the father of that child has decided to take responsibility.  Rae, in life you will go through things in life that you think you are alone in. When you came to me those few months ago, you were scared and blaming this on yourself.  Now look at you, Finn and you have stepped up and are doing this for your, son, I believe you said.  You are not in this alone, you will never be alone Rae.”

Rae smiled; her tears were flowing since he started.  “Sorry, I am so sorry.  I am just so emotional all the bloody time.”  Rae grabbed a napkin and started to wipe the tears from her eyes.

“And you are doing well Rae? We were making some really healthy progress before you left.  Have you continued your therapy?”

Rae shook her head. “It’s already a lot making appointments and keeping them with the OBGYN, let alone a therapist.”

“But are you doing well?”

“As well as I can be.” Rae confided.  Kester nodded and downed what was left of his coffee.

Rae and Kester stayed there talking awhile but of lighter subjects.  Rae asked about Danny Two Hats and asked Kester to send him her best. It was getting late and Rae knew she needed to get home soon.

“Why don’t I drop ya off before I head out for my drive home?”  Kester offered.  Rae nodded.

They sat in a comfortable silence listening to some talk on the radio.  Kester pulled up to Rae’s flat and idled his engine.

“Thank you.”

“The pleasure was all mine, my dear.  Now, you take care of yourself and that little one in ya, you hear?”  Rae nodded.

“If you need anything and I mean anything Rae.”  Kester looked at Rae with a sheen of tears in his eyes, he was scared for these two young kids but he wouldn’t put that on Rae.

“I know,” they hugged and parted.

“Bye Kester.”

“Goodbye Rae.”

Rae got out of the car and walked up the three steps to the doors that lead to her flats, she turned around and gave a small wave to Kester, she watched as he pulled out and drove away.

Instead of walking inside, Rae sat on the steps, tears falling.  Watching as a comfort from a life that seemed so distant to the one they are living now.

As she sat, she cried reminiscing about all the good and bad times she had in Lincolnshire.  She thought about the gang, considering its half past 7 they might be all at the Swan, enjoying pints and sharing jokes and stories.  Rae wondered about Izzy and Chop, are they still going strong?  What about Chloe?  Her and Chloe had grown so close again and have helped each other through so much.  She missed the girls getting together and talking about their lads and Izzy begging for her to allow her to do her make up.

Rae thought about Archie, away in University.  He isn’t that far from them.  He himself is studying at University of York.  He was at best a half hours time away.  She pictured him there surrounded by fit lads hitting on him and he would just play with his glasses in embarrassment.

Rae thought about her mum and her new husband Karim at home.  She really did leave without a word to them.  She did miss Karim and his improper use of the English language. But more then anything, she actually missed her mum.  She knew her mother and her would fight like crazy but right now, all she wants is to tell her mum the truth.  To let her in on her secret and know that she is going to be a grand-mummy.

She sat forever just crying and thinking about her decision.  The only reason why she was ready to go inside was a grumble from her stomach.  She looked down and ran her hands on her stomach.

“All right you, I get it. Mum needs to stop this and feed ya.” Rae wobbled to her feet from the stairs and entered the building.

Rae made her way up the flight of stairs to her and Finn’s flat.  She knew it was late and Finn would be home.  He had no idea where Rae has been or who she was with.  When Rae walked in she saw a nervous looking Finn sitting on the settee chewing his nail and his leg thumping away in nerves. When he finally focused on the figure staring at him he jumped up.

“Rae, where the fuck have you been?”  He sounded on edge.

“I met up with an old friend, that’s all.”  Rae didn’t want to fight but with the tone that he had used with here he wasn’t going to back down from this.

“An old friend?  What are you on about?”  He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

“An old friend, the only person who knows about the baby from Stamford, oh wait excluding your dad.” Rae shrugged off her flannel and made her way to the kitchen to make something to eat.

“Someone from Stamford? Who?  Someone I know?”  Finn looked concerned and not in the way of concerned for her but in concern for him.

“Oh god Finn, I had a paternity party with all the lads I’ve shagged while dating you.”  Rae snapped sarcastically and rolled her eyes.

Finn huffed and ran his hands over his face and gripped his hair, “Why can’t you just be straight wit’ me.”

“Fine if ya must know, it was my therapist alright?  Kester! You know, the one you would drop me off with weekly down at hospital.  Or is it just only you can reach out to people about the baby?”  Rae was grabbing things from the refrigerator and slamming them on the counter.

“Are you still mad I told my da’?  It was both of our decision to come to Leeds and do this on our own Rae, but we never agreed that we wouldn’t tell anyone.”

“I know we never agreed verbally Finn but a heads up would be nice ya know?  I mean ya dad knows he is going to be a grandfather but my mum and Karim are still left in the dark thinking I’m out here doing god knows what.”

“Is that what ya want Rae do you want to call ya mum and tell her?  “Cause if that’s what ya want I will dial the bloody number for ya.” Finn made a scene of grabbing the phone.

“Oh please Finn we both know if I call and tell my mum, she would be down here faster then we could hang up and run.  I’m just sayin’ we need to be open with each other with our decisions, like telling one of our parents we’re about to be parents.”  Rae finally turned around and made eye contact with Finn.

Finn slouched and let out a heavy sigh.  “You’re right, I just thought, I thought for once I could do something more.”

“What?  Finn, are you jokin’?  You do more then enough, I mean you got us out here in a flat and you work so much just to make sure we have all of this.”  Rae made a show to throw her hands around to prove her point.

“But this,” Finn did the same hand gestures as Rae.  “Is not enough Rae, seriously, we saw the prices of the baby things.  We need more and I just kept thinkin’ about it over and over again and I knew we needed these things and no matter how hard I work Rae, it was never goin’ to be enough.  So I panicked and thought, maybe if I tell someone they could help us and the only person I could think of, was my dad.”

Finn slid down the wall of the kitchen his knees bent and his arms resting on his knees, his head in his hands.  Rae watched as the boy, no man she loved and was bringing a baby into the world with start to fall apart.

Rae made her way over to Finn and joined him on the floor.   She started to rub his back when she noticed he was sniffling.  Rae just continued to soothe him as tears formed in her eyes and started to roll freely.

“Finn…” Rae choked breaking the silence that they sat in.  “Finn, I don’t know what to say anymore.”

“I just feel like we are so alone Rae.  I mean, I didn’t even notice that you needed help.  You reached out to your therapist Rae, your therapist!”  Finn looked up and made eye contact with Rae, his eyes were blood shot and his face was stained with cheeks.

“I reached out to him because you reached out to your dad Finn.  I needed someone to talk to, someone who wasn’t you.”  Rae admitted.  “There are just times where I need to talk to someone, who isn’t you and I’ve been resisting that urge since we came here but let’s be honest, we both need it don’t we?”

She gave Finn a half-hearted smile and he nodded.

“So what does this mean?” Finn asked.

“I don’t know, do we, do we tell the gang and my mum?”

“Are you ready for that?” Finn brought his hand up to Rae’s cheek running his thumb on it.

“We don’t really have a choice, who are we going to start talking to, your Uncle?”  Rae laughed as she started to wipe the tears from her eyes.

Finn chuckled a long with Rae, “No that would be even worse, if you think I am bad at talking, you’d be astounded at my Uncle.”

They both looked at each other with a tight lip smile, Rae nudged Finn with her shoulder, “So you ready to tell all your best mates that you are going to be a daddy then?”

“Only if you are ready to tell your best mates AND your mum that you are going to be a mum yourself.” Rae’s eyes bulged from hearing she will shortly telling her mother that she left not because Finn got a job but because she was pregnant.

“Maybe we will save her for last just in case we need to skip town again ok?”  Rae laughed.

“Yeah that actually sounds like a plan.”  Finn smiled at Rae.

“I love you Finn, we’re going to be ok you know?”

“I know that and that’s why I love you and this little lad in here.”  Finn said rubbing her stomach.

Finn leaned in and kissed Rae, a kiss that Rae felt through out her body.  It wasn’t a lustful kiss; it was a kiss full of love.  It shot through their veins as the kiss deepened. The only reason they broke apart was due to the sound of Rae’s stomach growling from hunger.

“Oi, what are you doing? Depriving my son of nutrition?” Finn joked as he stood up to help Rae off of the floor.

“It wasn’t intentional, I had a snack with Kester, but once you get that man started he don’t stop talking. I’m used to the more quiet type.” Rae poked Finn on his side as she made her way to continue making her sandwich.

“Hm, definitely not in running for mother of the year award quite yet.”  Finn joked as he started to make a sandwich for both of them.

“Oh don’t start with competing already.  Besides, we all know I will be a fantastic mother.  My boy will be able to tell a tune faster then a radio DJ.”  Rae smiled as Finn handed her one of the sandwiches.

Finn laughed and took a bit. “Too right.  Now, tell me, when did you want to tell everyone?”

Rae choked on her bite she was chewing.  “I don’t know, when, um, when did you want to tell everyone?”

Finn looked right at Rae and smiled, “The sooner the better girl.”

How so you think audrey would've been if the killings never happened?

i’m sorry ahead of time

so if the killings never happened, Rachel would still be alive

  • the video was still leaked, so she would have spent most of her time with Rachel
  • she would have taken secret videos and pictures of rachel when they were together to prove how beautiful she thought she was
  • she would have done so much research into self-harm and body image issues for her, just so she could know exactly how to be there for rachel when she needed it
  • noah still would have been mad that he found out about rachel through the video and not through audrey, so they would have met eventually
  • noah and rachel became really close and bonded over nerdy things and zombies, making audrey’s life that much easier that the two people she loved most in the world loved each other
  • noah would have been so happy that audrey found someone that knew how to calm her down she got angry
  • Audrey would have worked on her anger issues and grudges against nina and the rest of the twats that sabotaged her because she knew thats what rachel needed
  • she would have leaned on rachel and believed that she wasn’t going to leave her, even when she showed her the worst parts of her
  • she and emma probably would have become close again, but she would have done the same thing in calling her a bitch when emma said she was there when the video was recorded
  • rachel would have made her trust people more, and trust herself more
  • she would have worked her ass off to prove herself to rachels parents, even though she knew it was a losing battle.
  • the memories of her loving emma helped her learn how to love rachel the way that they both deserved
  • rachel would have encouraged her to make more films and do everything she loves to do, even if she herself didn’t really understand
  • she would have worked with rachel on coping techniques and looked up alternatives that were safer and healthier than self-harm
  • she would have gone to rachels school for lunch to make sure she had someone to eat with and wasnt alone
  • also secretly just really missed her all the time and wanted to be with her as much as possible
  • basically she would have been the person she wants to be and rachel would still be alive and they would make nerdy videos together and rachel and noah would be besties and they would all hang out and audrey would still have her issues and not everything would be great but it would be what all of them deserve and i’m just really emotional about this oka y

Rachel asks them to housesit for her when she heads back to Ohio for a weekend to visit her dads.

“I just want to make sure that nothing gets stolen,” she says to Kurt over coffee, like there isn’t a doorman that knows the faces of all of Rachel’s probable visitors, knows that she’s going to be gone and would more than likely alert the police if someone shady strolled in looking for her.

Kurt hasn’t been over to her new place much in the year since she’d came back from LA and bought it, but it’s nice, much nicer than the loft he and Blaine are still living in. and Rachel has an espresso maker given to her by one of her producers that Kurt’s been dying to use since she won’t let anyone else touch it.

Mike having to wear glasses to read and getting gray hairs. He hates it, but Ginny finds it extremely attractive

“Gin!” Ginny starts awake so violently that she falls out of bed, still blinking awake as she sits up to look for Mike. He’s standing over her in minutes, jamming his chin in her face as she rubs the smarting back of her head. “Look!”

Ginny continues to squint sleepily, yawning as she asks, “What am I looking at, old man?”

He points to the sides of his beard. “You don’t see these gray streaks?”

Ginny leans closer, squinting at the hardly noticeable silver borders of his still dark beard. “You can’t even see that?”

“Then how did I see it?” he demands.

“With your glasses,” Ginny mutters as she gets off the floor and sits on the bed.

The glasses are another cringe-worthy change for Mike. He insists he doesn’t need them to see, that the ophthalmologist was gouging him with his new readers, but Ginny finds him wearing them more and more. He plops on the bed beside her, huffs, “I’m so fucking old.”

Ginny laughs, shakes her head. “You’re not old. I’m just young.”

He points to his silver temples and smirks. “Lie again.”

Ginny shakes her head again. “I just mean that you only feel old because you’re with someone who isn’t aging at the same time.”

“That doesn’t make any sense, Gin.”

“It does,” she insists. “Remember last week when we ran into Rachel at that party and you said later how she looks different. She doesn’t look different. She’s gotten old too. You just didn’t get to watch her age so it surprised you.”

Mike shakes his head. “We were just 25 though.”

“And I was just 16, old man. Time gets away from you.” She laughs. “At least you’re aging well, though.”

Mike gives a reluctant smile. “You think?”

Ginny nods. “You’re still hot, just in a more distinguished way. Soon you’re gonna have that sexy silver fox thing going on.”

His smile widens. “Oh yeah?”

Ginny rakes her fingernails through his beard. “Definitely.”

“Sounds like you’ve got a thing for old men, rookie,” he teases.

“Just one,” she replies.

Mike isn’t really sure he believes her until she gets home from lunch with Evelyn. He’s sitting beside the pool, reading the newspaper—something that’s become of interest as of late and makes him cringe because it’s Al’s favorite pastime—when he realizes he isn’t alone. He lowers the paper to find Ginny in the chair beside his, her knees pulled up to rest her chin on them as she watches him unabashedly.

He peers at her over the tops of his glasses, asks, “Need something?”

She snorts. “This is how I feel when you watch me get ready in the morning.”

He shakes his head. “That’s different. That’s hot.”

“And this isn’t?” He smirks at her and Ginny shakes her head, insists, “Come on! You’ve got the glasses and your hair’s all wild and I can almost see up your robe—”

“Make your point, Baker.”

Ginny responds by leaving her seat to straddle him. She takes his hand and pulls it between her legs so he can feel the damp crotch of her panties. “Believe me now?”

Mike laughs, though the gesture significantly boosts his ego. “No. Show me a little more, rookie.”

what i literally love is that BECAUSE carter is willing to wait and just be good and kind to her is WHY kendra is falling so hard for him. like you can watch her heart eyes at him when he tells her that she doesn’t have to love him. because real love is putting someone else’s needs before your own, and carter will be whatever kendra needs him to be in each lifetime, romantic or not

Teach Me How To Love (part 5) Almost Doesn't Count

Here’s the next part. It would have been more if I wasn’t dealing with so much crap. Anyway the title of this chapter goes out to dayjavoo1 thanks for reading.  And I’m still open to more title suggestions. “What are you doing here, Finn?” Mercedes asked avoiding the stare Sam was casting upon her. She could tell that he was upset that she didn’t tell him that she knew the Finn that he spoke of. She really didn’t think Finn would actually just drop by her office like this.

“Oh…I just thought it would be a good idea to surprise you since I tried calling you and couldn’t reach you on your cell. I brought you these flowers that I know you love so much!” Finn added before walking over to her and leaning in to give her a kiss on the lip. Mercedes turned her head just in time to allow his lips to graze her cheek instead before stepping back and looking over at Marley.

“Marley, can you please take these flowers from Finn and put them in some water?”

“Sure thing!” she stated taking the flowers from Finn and walking away. Mercedes really didn’t want her relationship to be on display for her receptionist to see, let alone her patient, who was standing there glaring at Finn.

“Finn, this is not the time or the place!” she stated forcing a stern smile his way. Finn nodded then looked over to where Sam still stood watching the two of them.

“Oh, hey sup man! I didn’t mean to intrude.” He stated extending his hand for Sam to shake. “I just really needed to see my fiancée. You know how that is, right?” he asked chuckling as Sam looked down at his hand and then over at Mercedes again.

“You don’t remember me, Finn?” Sam asked as Finn finally put his hand down. He chuckled again shaking his head.

“Should I remember you?”

“Finn, just go in my office and let me finish with my patient here.” Mercedes said. After all this was still her place of business. Last thing she needed was for an all-out brawl to break out over something that occurred way back in high school.

“Alright babe, don’t keep me waiting too long!” he stated kissing her again on the cheek and going into her office and closing the door. Sam shook his head and turned to leave, stopping when Mercedes ran to him and stopped him.

“Why didn’t you tell me he was your fiancé?” he asked not even looking down at her. She sighed noticing Marley heading their way with the flowers.

“My relationship has nothing to do with my ability to help you.”

“Are you serious right now?” he asked finally looking down at her. “How can I trust you when at night you go home to the one guy that took my girlfriend away from me in high school?”

“I am a professional, Mr. Evans!” she replied lowering her voice as she watched Marley pretend as if she wasn’t listening. “Now if you feel that this is a conflict of interest, I can recommend my colleague on the 3rd floor. I can refer you to Blaine Anderson for this Friday instead.” She stated walking over to where Marley was and pulled out a referral sheet. She could hear Sam sigh behind her before walking over to her and pulling the pen from her hand.

“I am not going through this again with another doctor! I’ll see you on Friday at noon as we discussed.” He stated dropping the pen and then walking out. Mercedes had to catch herself as she watched him strut out of the office as if he was running things. It was definitely turning her on. She turned and noticed it had affected Marley as well.

“Now that I have the time…you and I have some things to discuss about your behavior while working for me, Marley.”

“Yes Mercedes?”

“I am signing you up for some classes that you will take during your lunch. These classes are mandatory for you to continue working for me. You’re the first line of contact my patients have to me and I need to know that you will remain professional at all times. So that means, no flirting with the patients and remembering what your job description includes.” Mercedes added as she wrote down the name of the classes on a sheet of paper then handed them to her. Marley took the papers from her and read it over with a frown on her face.

“Did I do something wrong, Mercedes?” Marley asked as she watched Mercedes walk over to her office door.

“You’re recent behavior with Mr. Evans has been questionable. If it were anyone else I would have fired you but I really like you Marley and want to keep you here.” She replied holding the door and then turned to her once more. “Don’t make me regret that!” she stated before entering her office and closing the door.

“Finn, you shouldn’t have come here! This is my place of business and you know I don’t like people in my personal affairs.” She stated moving away from him as he tried to kiss her again. “And I told you we were over…that’s why you have the ring.” She stated as she tried to move papers around on her desk.

“Speaking of rings, I brought it with me just in case you choose to put it back on after I explain things to you.” Finn said flashing his lopsided grin at her. She rolled her eyes before sitting down in her chair and looking at him.

“What is there to explain? You have a child out there with your ex-girlfriend…I think I pretty much get it!” Mercedes watched as the grin on his face faded, which in turn made hers appear. “I told you that if I heard anymore rumors we were through!”

“Look Mercedes, I didn’t see a reason to tell you about the child because Quinn gave the baby up for adoption!” he stated and prayed that she would believe him. Mercedes felt terrible that she didn’t give him an opportunity to explain himself. She couldn’t help but notice how sincere he was looking as he held that enormously cheesy teddy bear in front of him. Then she heard the voice of Unique in the back of her head and she snapped back to reality. He still never mentioned having a child out there and to her that was another lie.

“Finn, you need to leave!” she stated turning back to her computer and started to type just to avoid looking at him. She could see in her peripherals that he had the dumb baby look he always sported when his charming ways didn’t work on someone.

“Mercedes! It’s the truth! I swear!”

“Yes it’s the truth! But guess what? It’s too late! You waited…what…3 years…you’ve know for almost a decade! And only to tell me that you have a child with your ex, now! You have pictures of you in Mexico with Rachel Berry. All these crazy rumors! You have all these lies and rumors that just keep piling up on me and I’m supposed to run back to you…now?” she looked over at him as he frowned and continued. “I almost fell for your games, Finn Hudson, but almost doesn’t count!” she turned back to her computer and started typing again. “Now get out of my office with that ridiculous looking teddy bear!”

“Fine!” he said before kicking the chair that was near him and then swinging the door open and walking out. Mercedes closed her eyes and sighed remembering she was doing the right thing.

“Are you okay, Mercedes?” Marley asked running in and picking up the chair. Mercedes opened her eyes and smiled at her and shook her head.

“I am now!” she replied smiling. “Close my door please and throw away those flowers for me when you get a chance.” Marley smiled and closed the door before grabbing the flowers to discard them as she was instructed.

He expected the song to hurt.

There wasn’t any reason why it wouldn’t. We’re talking about Broadway and Rachel and a bombastic song about undiscovered glory. He knew that “The Greatest Star” was going to sting in sensitive places he tried to keep hidden, so he’d been quietly preparing himself for weeks. Between regular classes and new workouts with Blaine, he’d started policing his own mind— watching for signs of creeping insecurity.
