he always meant it metaphorically not literally

Listen assholes, you want to come into my inbox and argue semantics over what Terry Pratchett actually meant to say when he had a main character’s ancestor haul off and kill an implied child molesting tyrant with an axe because the man was a monster no one else would challenge–that’s fine. I literally did my thesis on semantics and Terry Pratchett, I spent four years of my life studying for this. But uh, here’s the Thing about Pratchett. He always said what he meant, and in that regard…I think the semantics are pretty clear.

But by all means, tell me how the axe is a metaphor for free speech for neo-nazis. I’m waiting

Hey, so I looked at your rec masterlist and i tried searching "eighth year" and I found a few fics throughout, but I wasn't sure if you had a specific list of just eighth year fics, preferably fluffish? If you've already done one and I just missed it feel free to just slide past this message, or if you could please link me to it? Either way!!! Thank you so much! :)

I do have a tag for 8th year fics but you’re right, I haven’t really posted a lot of recs for it so here you go :)

EXO K AU Aesthetic ~ Zombie Apocalypse | Oh Sehun

Suho | D.O | Sehun | Kai | Baekhyun | Chanyeol

  • Both you and Sehun had knew each other since you were in school so when you both found about the outbreak, you had went to find each other straight away.
  • The apocalypse had changed his attitude towards you and the world around him completely, though you couldn’t blame him since both of y’all lost your families.
  • He turned into what you would say, a complete asshole. Sometimes he’d ask why the fuck you were following him.
  • One day you actually ditched him when he snapped at you, which scared the dude half to death when he was alone for too long.
  • Sehun actually searched everywhere for you, even if that meant getting in severe danger himself. He couldn’t just let you go when you’ve been by his side metaphorically and literally half of his life.
  • When he found you, you had found a group who you seemed to be happy and content with (in his perspective too); but all he wanted to do was kidnap you from that group and run away with you.
  • Sehun clearly didn’t like the way the leader (Kris) of this group you ended up finding was always looking at you like you were his last meal.
  • Or his last fuck, maybe both.
  • When you both tried to escape you had gotten injured so Sehun baby sat you in a convenience store, making sure you had the right amount of sleep and rest; making his duty to protect you with his life.
  • CONFESSED HIS TRUE FEELINGS TO YOU

As a giant Victuri shipper myself but also someone a little scared of assuming too much, ...I definitely interpreted Viktor saying the rings were engagement rings as him only joking. I 100% believe Viktor loves Yuuri and has romantic feelings for him, but in that moment I think he was just being a tease as always

I’ve said this before in another meta, but I think what some viewers are struggling with is that Yuri!!! on Ice is not an anime specifically centered around a romantic relationship. It’s a sports anime about ice skating, featuring a relationship between a coach and his student. This is why we only see Yuuri and Victor speaking about their relationship on the ice.

But the thing is, look at the metaphors here. Victor and Yuuri are already married through their skating relationship.

We literally have scenes that are meant to invoke mental images of…

A marriage proposal

Make that a double marriage proposal

A cathedral with witnesses

An exchange of rings

A wedding reception

A honeymoon

BONUS: This is how married people argue.

Victor and Yuuri are already married as coach/student. The wedding happened in Episode 10. The creators chose this imagery on purpose, and it is very blatant.

As for an actual wedding between a romantic couple? Now that we’re not promised because that isn’t what the anime is about. But I do think Victor gave us a hint as to when we might see a real wedding between these two take place.

This line was not just thrown in here as a joke.

Fight me.

Simple Accidents (Pt 10)

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9

Jensen x Reader

Warnings: Angst, Memories of Dead Mother Mentioned, Language

Word Count: 2,142

“Baby, please. Just for a little while.” Jensen’s sweet voice woke you. He was no longer in the bed with you, but instead sounded like he was standing in the hall by your slightly ajar door. You felt bad for listening in, but you had just woken and you were too hazy to care. “Please, I can’t just leave her.” There was a short silence, where you assumed his “Baby” was talking. “Thank you!” He huffed out, sounding annoyed. “Alright, I’ll see you later. I love you.” You tried not to be angered by that ‘I love you’, considering you really didn’t have a right to be, but nevertheless, you were and you rolled your eyes in response. The smell of bacon, sausage and eggs filled your senses, along with the sound of sizzling. A smile formed on your lips as you pushed off the covers. You choked down another pill, then brushed your teeth and hair, out of which the curls had fallen, in quick, jerky movements.

You grinned at your reflection, clad in Jensen’s black shirt that was just long enough to cover your lace underwear. Lace was what you owned most of, because you loved the way they made you feel sexy and like you were carrying a secret with you at all times. The sleeves had fallen during slumber, so you rolled them back to rest under your elbows. You slid your feet into your slippers and walked into the kitchen to meet Jensen, who was cooking in a pair of sweats, shirtless.

Chris Speaks through TLOS

Michelle @mleigh69 and I are planning to do a series of posts on TLOS5, An Author’s Odyssey on some of the critical plots and themes of the book, mainly as they relate to CrissColfer and some of the battles they have/are fighting.  To be clear, I understand that the characters are fictional and no one is 100% based on a person in Chris’ life, but he has stated multiple times that his characters do have characterizations of people that he knows, and that he does this both consciously and unconsciously.

There are spoilers contained below.  If you are still reading or planning to read, come back and read this later. I will tag all of the posts “Chris speaks through TLOS.”   This particular post is limited to some pivotal and key scenes from TLOS4 Beyond the Kingdoms and Chapter 16 of TLOS5.

what do you think about the theory that Cain is alive?

Ahh… I see this being discussed, but I certainly don’t buy it.  To me, Robbie was trolling with the tweet #CainLives to give us something to discuss over the haitus and (to me) fandom kinda fell for it hook, line, and sinker.  I know there’s always some doubt/hope with the “Killed Off Screen Trope”, but IMO we have to look at what the episode was designed to do and that was kill all of Dean’s hope, including his only chance for death at the hands of Cain.  Nothing can kill Dean right now.  He’s a Knight of Hell.  He bares the Mark and is the only wielder of the First Blade, the only weapon that can kill him.  He’s thoroughly screwed.  To have Cain survive would be narratively pointless considering what they’ve setup in the “B” plot, not to mention how tough it must be to book Timothy.  I think the show always meant to kill him off the next time he showed up, which is why I was certain he was a goner as soon as the episode was announced.  I think the reason the camera only focused on Dean for Cain’s kill (giving Cain an offscreen death) was because the moment (really, truly) was about Dean metaphorically dying (losing all hope), not so much Cain literally dying.

Did You Miss Me?|| Closed RP || secretsandpathology

It had gone on for about two weeks. Hourly texts - even in the dead of night - sent to the girl he had used just to get close to Sherlock. She was always so… naive. So fixated on Sherlock, just as he himself was. She had all the information on how Sherlock did it. She was the mastermind behind the faking of a certain consulting detective’s death. It intrigued Jim. The girl seemed like a dud when he had been ‘dating’ her. Please, notice the metaphoric quotation marks. Star struck fan girl for Sherlock Holmes wasn’t exactly his type.

It had been a bit since he last sent a text, because he was plotting, waiting. The last had been [watch your back]. It had been meant quite literally, as most of the staff lab, and Moriarty was sneaking into the lab, smiling as he stayed silent for a moment. He - such a romantic - had flowers in his hands, albeit all of them were dead and withering away - that reduce the romance, he assumed. “Did you miss me?” He asks suddenly.

Alright another question I'm curious about. I know you aren't supposed to kneel to the Ouranic Gods, but what about the Chthonic Gods? I've seen that their altars are meant to be ground/floor level so would we kneel but still raise our arms? Or how would that go really? Because I see them needing to be praised as well, but technically they are Underworld Gods and would be metaphorically below us, so by raising our arms would that be offensive tot he Ouranic Gods?

Khthonic (from Greek χθόνιος khthonios, ‘in, under, or beneath the earth’, from χθών khthōn ‘earth’) literally means ‘subterranean’. It refers both to earth deities like Gaea as to underworld deities like Hades. Earth deities usually received worship like the Ouranic Gods (although not always) while Underworld Gods received a different type of worship (although not always).

For these Khthonic Theoi, an offering pit—‘bothros’ (βόθρος) in Greek texts—was used. Bothroi were usually dug when the occasion called for it, and closed up afterwards. Khthonic Theoi received special nighttime offerings of black animals, unmixed wine and special libations of milk and honey. Animal sacrifice was always done in a holókaustos—a sacrifice where the entire animal was burned and none of the meat was saved for human consumptions.

Hómēros in the Odysseia writes Circe advising Odysseus how to perform a libation to the dead:

“Draw near then, as I bid you, hero, and dig a trench two feet square, then pour a libation all around to the dead, first of milk and honey, then of sweet wine, thirdly of water, sprinkled with white barley meal.”

The ancient Hellenes shaped a ‘negative’ (part of a) ritual by a reversal of normal practices. As normal practices dictated the practitioner stand before an altar with their hands raised, it’s quite logical that they performed ritual to the Khthonic deities on their knees, hands down on the soil, sometimes beating down on it to draw the attention of the deities residing below. Where women wore their hair up or covered for standard ritual, they wore their hair down in Khthonic ritual.

Worship of the Underworld Khthonic deities was reserved for special occasions—mostly vengeance, death, and purification surrounding both. If the Underworld Khthonic Gods were worshipped in a state festival, They were generally worshipped in their Ouranic epithets.
