Everything coming out about the new Death Note shows how much they’re missing the point of Death Note.
Light is not a weird loner kid. He’s a top of his class, “that kid’s going places” type. People admire him. He stays beneath suspicion until L enters the fray by seeming so perfectly straitlaced and normal that no one thinks he could ever be a serial killer. The idea of Light having a locker sign saying “normal people scare me” is ridiculous, Light would probably mock the kind of person who’d put that in their locker. Light is handsome, confident, and while his ego is horrendous and his god complex ends up going to sociopath levels eventually, he has great charisma. He’s great at talking people into things and getting them to trust him.
Light is not an outcast. He is not a punk or a rebel in any way.
If you were committed to doing “Death Note but in the USA” Light would be an all-American boy, the local sheriff’s son who plays sports and gets good grades and just seems oh-so wholesome. That was why back when I was in high school and people floated Zak Effron as the casting for an American Death Note I thought it was a great idea since Light would probably be a Troy Bolton type in the USA, albeit with a bit more focus on his academics than sports.
Light is not an outcast. He is the sort of boy where if he was American and was accused of a crime you’d have two thirds of the town online going “that good boy would never do such a thing.”
Just…where did this idea of “punk” Light even come from? Where in any version of Death Note has Light ever done anything remotely teenage-rebellion-ish? Just…where did this even spring from?
I’m inlove with this AU @tuckerenthusiast (please check their profile if you haven’t yet, it’s gorgeous af)
[first photo] Consider this; since Craig and his team moves a lot when fighting or running away — imagine having their clothes get stuck on a door/metal and ended up ripping bits of it off 👀
All right, so I’m amused by all the “Dorian is a skinny hopeless nerd without magic” headcanons, but I tend to disagree with them. This is one of the cases where I think the game models are actually closer to accurate.
I find it kind of implausible he’d have survived this long if he wasn’t in decent shape. By the time he joins the Inquisition he’s been a Tevinter drifter for a while, before camping out in the Storm Coast and Hinterlands. The vicious-mage-and-templar-infested, middle of a war zone Storm Coast and Hinterlands. With templars that can probably silence even a damn powerful Tevinter mage. He then, after having a pretty rough-scrabble time, ends up in the Inquisition where he’s fighting for his life and/or probably training most days. Even if he’d been cushioned or skinny or soft round the edges back in Tevinter, he wouldn’t be after a few months in Ferelden.
Yeah, he hates the cold and has allergies. Those things are both nice little realistic touches, and the former makes perfect sense for someone who grew up in a pseudo-Mediterranean(?) climate and is now stuck in, well, Ferelden. And when you end up in Orlais, it’s often the Emprise du Lion. Neither of those things makes him weak or less able to fight.
He likes to misdirect. The whole, “look at me I’m such a useless toff, Maker forbid I get a hair out of place” thing is an act the same way “I don’t care about anyone or anything, watch me hide behind my sarcasm” is. There’s a grain of truth to it, but he’s playing it up to amuse and exasperate. Also, I find that act hilarious because he’s trying to distract from the fact he’s a tough, dangerous bloke when he needs to be, from what we see in canon. After all, half his arc is “yes, Tevinter, but not a threat, please stop glaring at me and pointing swords at me.” Of course he’s playing down the fact he’s a brutal, capable fighter with plenty of ingenuity.
That said, Mr "What do you mean robes need shoulders and sleeves?” seems to like to show off. He’d probably take pride in being in decent shape, the same way he seems to take pride in most other aspects of his appearance. Exhibit A: mate, why do your more advanced robes have less sleeve, this makes no sense, I know it’s video-game logic, but honestly… As said: Emprise. Du. Lion. It also makes sense for the whole “perfect body, perfect mind” and “partners only valued him for physical attraction” ideas. That kind of showing off is something he knows and is comfortable with.
The first time he’s seen in In Hushed Whispers, he’s literally beating a demon back, no magic involved. And succeeding. I tend to theorise that, unlike southern Circles that want to keep mages as weak as possible, there’s at least some combat training in Tevinter. After all, they are in the middle of an ongoing war with Seheron. And DA2, with things like staff blades, has laid a precedent for melee mages. I mean… why not?
Basically, Dorian Pavus is a hot-headed, hard-drinking, strong as hell tough bastard who could probably take you in a bar fight but would much prefer to talk his way out of it instead, and like all the Inquisition mages, is just as much a fighter as anyone else. And that’s my headcanon.
Bon Voyage 2 Episode 2: aka Namjin Go On a Date (seriously)
First they bicker because Seokjin thinks Namjoon isn’t listening to him - and then he points out Namjoon hasn’t rubbed his sunscreen in properly…and helps him fix it
Then they go to the beach
And build their rock piles so they can make a wish
Except, of course, Namjoon’s falls over
So Jin helps him fix it
and they make their wishes
Then they go to a restaurant by the ocean
where they share a salad and have the sweetest and most sincere conversation about what happiness truly is for them
They continue talking while they share a slice of chocolate cake
And then they just watch the sunset together
And then they are dorks
Just when you think they can’t get any cuter, they go shopping to buy presents for each other
Namjoon buys Jin a turtle he wants
and Jin buys Namjoon a necklace
They then go for a short walk where Jin says ‘Aloha’ to literally every stranger he sees
And finally they meet up with the others
and Namjoon is openly wearing the necklace Jin bought him
They end the episode with separate interviews where Namjoon says he really wants to learn from Jin because he admires him so much.
Jin heartbreakingly talks about how he’s outwardly cheerful, but he really does have worries and concerns, he just keeps his emotions inside. He also mentions that Namjoon is a friend he can rely on and their talk really helped him.
This episode was just really cute, but had some real emotion that shows how much Namjoon and Seokjin can learn from each other.
That’s why the episode made me adore him. He sees the strength of Yuri, and wants to see it himself, he wants to know him sincerely. He admires him all this time, and he just wants to help this friend, this boy he admires, Otabek wants to help Yura to be himself. He wants to discover and stand beside the “real Yuri” and …. Damn, it’s beautiful!

About Ships, G.C.F, Jungkook and Jimin and ship wars
This is an open reply to a wonderful post by @noransaekk . I was inspired by it but I don’t claim that the original poster shares my opinion. These thoughts are my own thoughts! Also, this is in no shape or form an attack on other ships, nor am I trying to convince anyone in anything. It is merely an opinion and an invite to a peaceful discussion. So, let’s beginn:
I will start by saying this: shipping is a part of every Kpop fandom, of the industry as a whole, idols know this and they are encouraged to use it. Simply said: shipping draws attention to an artist and therefore from a business point of view helps the sales. Regarding BTS there are three main controversial ships (I’m not naming them, all of you know them) and each of them has its moments. Some more eyebrow raising, others more.. speculative (for lack of a better world) but nonetheless everyone is free to ship whatever they want as long as it does no harm to the band and other people! In a way shipping is helpful because it creates discussions about heteronormativity, sexuality, society and etc.
Regarding BTS, in the second half of 2017 and particularly after G.C.F shipping took a different form.
