have some comedic relief

THIS POST IS ABOUT BOKUTO KOUTAROU,

i have no idea where i’m going to go with this post or my aim for this post but it’s near 3 in the morning and i’m having thoughts okay let’s go

I may be the only one, I like to think I’m not the only one, but, like many of the other characters in Haikyuu!!, Bokuto Koutarou is somebody I can relate to. Which is honestly one of the reasons I love Haikyuu!! so much, because it’s one of the few (maybe even the only) anime my narrow world has been exposed to that actually have:

  • Many, many characters that are all so diverse and all so relatable to.
  • Mistakes/errors that aren’t once-in-a-blue-moon type things. It’s just like real life volleyball (I would like to put out there that I am also a volleyball player irl, I play spiker for anybody who’s wondering!)
  • Victories that really do feel like they’ve been worked hard on (maybe because the only other anime i’ve seen are exaggerated fantasies like Fairy Tail and Owari no Seraph and No Game No Life, among other things.) The point gap is only ever large when the difference in skill is obvious, and it really does feel like both teams are fighting tooth and claw for every single point they’re able to score.
  • Scenes where you can properly, thoroughly feel yourself in the characters. When I watch the matches, I can feel myself in the boys honestly.
  • I’ve just realized this was supposed to be Bokuto-centric but I’ve gone off track so my last point is: Episodes where everything just feels so real and well-written honestly, and I love it.

So, back to Bokuto Koutarou. A third year student at Fukurodani Academy; #4, wing spiker, the ace and team captain of said school and ranked top four in the best aces in all of Japan.

From what I’ve seen, Bokuto’s known to be influenced by his emotions rather often, and it doesn’t take much for him to sway to his emotions, and albeit rather comical at times, it’s actually something, I, as a fellow spiker, can deeply relate to.

There’s the iconic: “Akaashi, don’t toss to me anymore!” right after a failed spike from the man himself and that’s gonna be what I’m basing my next few statements off of.

((More under the cut, because this gets pretty lengthy!))

It kind of pisses me off more than it should that the Dunkirk tag is just 98% about Harry

Like yes, it’s his first movie and yes, it’s a Christopher Nolan film, that’s a huge feat. But there’s other amazing actors in it too!!! AND IT TELLS AN AMAZINGLY TRAGIC STORY that we aren’t taught in school because the stupid American system only thinks D-Day is relevant when teaching about WWII & they barely even touch on WWI, if at all. I’m super excited to see Cillian and Tom work together again cuz they’re amazing on screen together. And they’re both in a war film together so hopefully they’ll still have some comedic relief parts, or just some really badass interaction like in Peaky Blinders.

I appreciate that Harry is drawing in younger viewers to the film, because then MAYBE they’ll learn some history whilst they’re just in the cinema to gush over a guy who’s got his first gig in a huge film

remember when we thought that eun would be the comedic relief in this drama? lol yeah what the hell happened to that?
