have flaws

things i love about wayhaught

• there is So Much Screen Time. Like, holy fuck. They get so much attention and?? wow
• emily andras. holy shit i have never see a show creator so aggressively supportive of the main wlw ship. i love her so much.
• kat and dom?? they’re such good actors oh my god?? and they’re so supportive of wayhaught and have a good friendship and wow i Love them. they also go to cons and talk about the ship?? good shit
• it’s not perfect. they have flaws like any normal couple. for example, waverly being possessed by a demon,
• this is just me being gay but both of them are Incredibly attractive
• both of the individual characters have their own plots outside of the relationship and have their own thoughts and feelings unrelated to the relationship. like, they’re real people holy shit. neither of them are reduced to just “the girlfriend”
• wlw shooting guns????? and being overall badass??? good shit
• it’s not rushed!! and you actually see the first time they meet and their first kiss and their first time wow
• nicole’s bulletproof vest basically saying a fuck you to all the shows killing off their lesbian characters
• it’s healthy!! and good for both of them!!!
• the show it’s on is actually good outside of the ship
• theres other things, but yeah. feel free to add more

I made this today as I find it’s a helpful tool when I make characters. I call it the 1-2-3 method.

1 value: Their core belief.

2 flaws: The limitations of the character. Things that can affect their actions and abilities.

3 traits: What makes them, them. the aspects of their behaviour and attitude.

It’s important that you justify their personality through their backstory and home life, however, and it’s good to have conflicting flaws/traits within a group which will help create tension and drama.

I’m using this today to create characters for my campnanowrimo WIP and thought I’d share.

Ugh, sorry, I gotta rant. I just really love all the characters in Vo/tron, and I hate it when people vilify and distort great characters and expect everyone else to as well.

Like, here’s something that’s been bugging the hell outta me: how tf is it the team’s fault that L/ance feels like a seventh wheel? That is his character flaw and his alone. The other characters have their own captivating flaws (none of which include being an asshole to their teammate for no apparent reason, thank you very much). They weren’t just made to helicopter over someone else’s character arc- they’re going to be plenty busy going through their own unique and interesting arcs to do that, and the story’s going to be even better for it.

Anxiety, stubbornness, trauma, loss, identity, physical limitation and weakness, control, freedom, loneliness- there are real people who struggle with these things just as much as the people who struggle with self-worth and insecurity. And it’s not okay to ask them to erase and rewrite the character that represents their struggles just to appease a larger and louder group of people with a different struggle.

By doing that, people are invalidating deep and developed characters by reducing them to something superficial and redundant, essentially just one-dimensional pawns. And they’re also robbing another deep and developed character of a really interesting and relatable flaw by making it external instead of internal. It’s a lose-lose situation.

Flawless characters and stereotype-characters are boring characters, peeps.

And, like, okay, whatever; if that’s how you want your version of the characters to be, then fucking you do you. But don’t demand that everyone agree with you, and don’t demand that it become canon. You can write your fanfiction and your theories and your headcanons, but Vo/tron: Legendary Defender itself is not your story to write. The people in charge know wtf they’re doing, okay?

Hey Seamus, fellow ENTP looking for a fictional role model. Only problem is, it seems almost all ENTP depictions in media are severely unhealthy in one way or another (generally because they ignore their Ti or Fe) which kind of bums me out. What are some examples of your favorite healthy ENTPs?

Healthy is a stretch for a lot of people. Cause we all still have flaws. Every type. So the list below includes those characters that aren’t afraid of the inferior Si, but embrace and use it.

Healthy ENTPs:

1. Violet Baudelaire (A Series of Unfortunate Events)

2. Bumi (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

3. Lois (DCCU)

4. Wash (Firefly)

5. Lily Bell (Hell On Wheels)

6. Minato (Naruto Shippuden)

7. Lily (Penny Dreadful)

8. Jane Porter (Disney’s Tarzan)

9. Josh Lyman (The West Wing)

10. Will Truman (Will & Grace)

I wasn't exactly forcing my headcanons on you. And I agree on the woobification of Tim in fandom and his Sue-ness in comics, it grates on me too. I guess it's odd to see that you dislike Tim because of the bad writers, when you like Jason despite the bad writers.

Why is Tim having flaws considered ‘bad writing’? I am perfectly willing to dismiss the bad [sue] writing in canon. But certain flaws of Tim’s (sexism, arrogance, insensitivity) are consistent and canon throughout his entire existence in comics. What irks me more is when fans and writers alike refuse to let Tim be any measure of responsible for his own flaws or mistakes.

Tim’s negative traits I was discussing are always handwaved within the text, rather than deliberate retcons or pushing of an agenda by DC that I criticize in Jason’s.

I also don’t dismiss all of Jason’s negative traits or ‘bad writing’ out of hand, but his traits when they crop up are treated as such within the text, so there’s no need for me to harp on about his temper or morality or anything else. But yes, I will dismiss things like DC victim blaming him, otherwise I’d hate the characters that do it. That’s not me dismissing anything about Jason, that’s me excusing the bullshit DC has had other characters state. Jason’s death is right there in canon material to look at, assess and go ‘these later works are victim-blaming’.

At the end of the day, Tim and Jason’s treatment by DC has been framed wildly different by DC over the years.

could you imagine being jean grey… arguably the most powerful woman in the universe… sought after by men and women and a mythical fuckin alien bird… she was an original x-man. she can do whatever the fuck she wants with just sheer brain power… but the b*tch cannot dress herself

My country is celebrating 100 years of independence this year and we are also achieving marriage equality on the 1st of March. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our achievements as a nation than celebrating equality and human rights. Congratulations, Finland, may there be many more victories such as this and may your freedom last a thousand years!

(yes, the Finnish flag appears backwards because she’s waving it around)

people who don’t like hunk genuinely confuse me. what has hunk ever done wrong? name one time hunk has done something wrong. see? you can’t. he is perfect.

I watched Trollhunters a little while ago and it actually inspired me to doodle again soooo here’s some angry changelings not appreciating the whole “impure” thing

so something I saw on twitter yesterday really bugged me. there’s people saying that the Power Rangers movie is getting way more credit than is due because of the way they handle Trini’s sexuality

ok LISTEN. It was never going to be the case of Trini yelling, “IM A LESBIAN!” or “IM BISEXUAL!” there’s no way they’d be so upfront about it. I thought the scene where she came out was nice, subtle, emotional, and I thought it was in-character how she’s still sarcastic at such a time. After all Trini is what, 15/16/17 in the movie? She’s discovering herself and doesn’t have to be 100% sure. there’s time for that

cuz get this. it’s the first movie. they’ve said there’s going to be 5-7 of them? People are acting like this is the end and we’ll never see her come to terms with this and that she’ll never label herself (though sticking to no labels is fine too of course)

The Power Rangers movie DOES deserve a round of applause for including an LGBT character, just because they didn’t go about it as directly as you would’ve liked doesn’t make it any less amazing. This is a small stepping stone you guys we’re going to see her character grow more confident throughout the franchise and it’s going to be beautiful

but can we talk about holt for a second

this is his son - he literally thinks of jake as a son. and that son, whom he’s mentored and nurtured for four full seasons, through defiance over ties and even a stint in witness protection, has been unfairly convicted of a crime holt *knows* he didn’t commit because he was trying to help him make the bust. now that son, a damn good cop according to everyone who knows him, is going to prison. his prize mentee is in love with his son, and they’ve just been sentenced to a 15 year separation. and holt has to watch, knowing that the police system he fought to make better is still deeply flawed and having to come to terms with the fact that as a cop, he just couldn’t do enough to stop this.

anyways come find me dead on the floor
