Accessible only by helicopter, Minaret Station is a cluster of four tented lodges nestled in the glacial valley in the heart of the Southern Alps in New Zealand. Constructed only two years ago, Minaret Station is family owned, built, designed, & operated by the four Wallis brothers, on 65,000 acres of land that has been in their family for generations. The property is so remote that the Wallis family charters a helicopter fleet, which makes 25 trips per week for provisions & guests. In fact, the meticulously built resort was constructed with only helicopters & eight people total, including the brothers themselves. Minaret Station is entirely self-contained & powered by a small hydroelectric plant that they built. Going above & beyond, all of the meat, fish, & poultry prepared by its talented kitchen staff was all freshly caught & butchered by the Wallis brothers. Not only was Minaret Station a highlight on our trip, it is also home to the best meal I’ve ever had in my entire life. And I don’t say that lightly…or often.

Queenstown was not only the start of our honeymoon, but our first real break from stress & chaos in months. After leaving the parents & driving two days from our wedding location in Hawke’s Bay, we welcomed comfortably relaxing & regrouping in a singular location. Every day, the skies & scenery dramatically shifted, flaunting New Zealand’s bests for us.
