hassan i sabah

Ruins of Alamut (Top) and Lambsar (Bottom) castles, Qazvin, Iran

The word “Alamut” means “Eagles Nest” in Persian, Iran’s official language.

Both of these castles were used by Hassan-i Sabah (Born, 1050s - Death, 1124) an Iranian Ismaili missionary and his followers often called “Hashshashin”.

The word “Assassin” in the english language is derived from “Hashshashin”.
