why are wlw books so angsty and deep all the time like where is my casual wlw romcom or my fantasy lesbians, space bis and trans princesses like not every wlw has some lost love in some town in the middle of nowhere
listen i’m incredibly sensitive and critical about the way women are treated in media but i also think people are Waaaayy too harsh on travis mcelroy for the whole julia thing. like fridging for manpain is a real issue in media but i think that when you’ve got a dude who has openly said ‘i love my wife a ton and i lost my mother when i was younger so losing my wife is a fear of mine i wanted to explore through a fictional proxy’ i think it’s honestly just, a little cruel to make fun of him for that. i’ve seen some pretty mean stuff said.
Scott McCall is a True Alpha werewolf, the son of Melissa and Rafael McCall and best friend of Stiles Stilinski. Leader of the McCall Pack that has included Derek, Allison, Lydia, Isaac, Malia, Kira, Liam, Mason, Corey, Hayden and Theo, his friends help him in his fight to protect the people of Beacon Hills. Along the way he has lost people he loved, but ultimately stayed true to himself despite the difficulties he’s faced. After high school, he gained a placement at UC Davis, but chose to stay home and win one last battle. With the fight over, Scott continues to protect those who believe themselves to be monsters, but are in fact werewolves, like him.
I know that everyone’s excited about how Cas & Dean will interact in the next episode but, honestly, I can’t stop thinking about how Jack will react to 1. not only seeing Cas but mainly to 2. Seeing how Dean’s demeanor has changed since Cas came back.
Think about it: Up until now, Jack has only seen the dark, sad, angry, and generally scarier sides of Dean. In 13x06 he will see the happier and fluffier side of Dean that stands as a complete contrast to the side of Dean that Jack has been exposed to. On top of that, this episode will showcase one of Dean’s likes: Cowboys, so he’s also more excited than he normally would be.
The thing is, Jack isn’t stupid. He’s very observant and he uses his observations to learn how to understand the world he lives in. Then he asks questions in response to those observations. Essentially, he will probably reason that Dean is so excited because the case deals with cowboys but also,
He’s gonna notice that Dean’s happy because Cas is back.
I mean it’s pretty clear that he’s happy because Cas is back. Depressed, suicidal Dean who didn’t care if he lived or died just yesterday probably wouldn’t have gotten that excited over cowboys today. Jack’s used to the reactions Dean has been giving after having lost the people he loved, meaning, that
Jack has never seen Dean when he isn’t depressed.
I mean, it’s no coincidence that the moment Cas comes back Dean’s demeanor suddenly drastically changes. (It may be a bit more subtle than that at first but I believe that the general vibe coming off of Dean when they first return to the bunker will be much happier than Jack’s normally used to seeing)
Another thing I am curious to see is how Jack will respond to Cas’s knowledge about Dean. I mean, that scene from the promo trailer that I copy-and-pasted above just serves to show Jack that Cas, a friendly, warm, protective, trustworthy father figure, knows Dean far better than he does. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack, who, in Sam’s words “wants [Dean] to like him,” would try to understand Dean better through Cas now too.
Moreover, I wouldn’t be surprised if:
1. Jack & Dean had small, subtle rivalries over who got to hang out with Cas throughout the case. (ex. Jack saying he’ll go with Cas and Dean saying no, he is going with Cas and Jack can go with Sam [cough, cough graveyard scene])
1.a. Jack, noticing Dean wanting to hang out with his dad and, when Sam & he go to the graveyard in the promo pics, Jack asks about Dean & his love of cowboys, or why Dean’s happy, or if Dean & Cas are close or something in order to understand why Dean is acting strangely happier than usual.
In summation, Pay attention to Jack in the next episode. He’s probably going to watch Cas & Dean closely to understand Dean & his demeanor better. Also, he totally knows that Dean is happy because Cas is back.
My grandmother got very very sick when I was making the record, which is what Supermarket Flowers is about if anyone’s heard that song. And my brother is a classical film composer, so he makes classical music. I make pop music. And we don’t really, like… he’s my brother, and I love him, but we don’t - I don’t understand classical music and he doesn’t really understand pop music. So we don’t have, like… When we meet up, we just talk about like Family Guy and Rick and Morty and stuff like that, and it’s not really, like that’s kind of it. But she said, she said, before she died she wanted to see her two – she’s only got two grandsons; it’s only me and my brother – she said before she died she wanted to see her two grandsons work together. And I said, ‘Well Matt, I’ve got–’ Matt’s my brother, and I said, 'Matt, I’ve got this song that I think an orchestra could be great.’ And he orchestrated a 60-piece orchestra for this song, Perfect, and we recorded a 60-piece orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. And managed to get it done before our grandmother passed away. And it was one of those moments where we sort of brought a laptop into the hospital room and played her it, and we were both kinda like, YEAH, we did it! It was just a really really special moment and to be able to have that now, being played on radio, and having the whole world hear something that me and my brother made, is like, is really cool. So I would like to sing this tonight. I would like to dedicate it to every single person in the crowd that has lost a loved one, has found a loved one, anyone that is in love, feels love, this is all for you.

okay but can we talk about how the adventure zone finale so masterfully subverted typical audience expectations for the conclusion of all of its character arcs?
the man who throws himself into reckless actions because he doesn’t value his own life, rather than going out in a blaze of glory and dying young, finds something to live for - he builds up a support group, lives a peaceful life training service dogs, and dies peacefully of old age surrounded by the ones he loves.
the deadbeat dad who has given up on god and his life’s purpose finds out that he is so, so important and instrumental to saving all of existence through loving and forgiving others, reconciles with his children and goes on grand adventures with them.
the one who keeps everyone at a cold distance because he has loved and lost and hurt too much, rather than faltering from the side of good, is reunited with some of his loved ones, learns how to open up to people, and gives love a second chance.
the well-intentioned extremist antihero, rather than being killed off for the sake of redemption, is joyfully forgiven by all of her dearest friends and goes on to use her powerful influence to do good instead of harm.
the woman introduced posthumously seemingly solely for the character development of two dudes, rather than staying dead (or worse, being forgotten in the commotion of the finale), becomes a beautifully rounded character in her own right and comes back in a blaze of glory to save said dudes’ asses with gusto.
the only one with a straightforward character arc is angus - he’s a smart smart boy who grows up to be a smart smart man, and i’m so proud of him for it.
This has nothing to do w/ anything and I know people have talked about it before BUT I want to as well. Usually my metas tend to be angsty af and then end on a hopeful note, and this will probably be no exception. But anyway, a delve into Victor’s love of fairytales!
I can recall on 2 occasions Victor specifically comparing Yuuri to a fairytale.
Which may not seem like a lot but we have 12 episodes and if something is pointed out twice in a story, it has some amount of significance. Anyway, I just think it’s so damn cute that Victor considers Yuuri prince-like. Even the visuals and story of On Love: Eros is like a fairytale!
We go on about how extra Victor is (and he 200% is…that 50s pink cadillac tho) but I wanna here more about how much of a true romantic Victor is.
This entire thing is like an hc-palooza courtesy of me. Here we go!
I like to think of a little Victor, watching all these fairytale movies–Disney or otherwise–and dreaming of one day finding a prince of his own.
A 12 year old Victor with his first real crush, staring at a pretty boy with darker hair and kind eyes in one of his classes or at the rink. Victor thought he had found his prince, until one day the affection faded and his mind focused on other things.
A teenage Victor, going through various relationships like others would go through clothing. He’s a busy young man after all, and no one seems to want to look beyond the Victor Nikiforov on screen, one the ice, and actually date him. Victor starts to wonder if there is a prince out there for him.
Victor as a young adult, still a romantic at heart, but has pretty much entirely lost hope on finding his true love. No one sticks around, and he hasn’t found anyone he cares deeply enough about to chase. Victor’s lonely, to put it simply. He sits up at night sometimes, and watches all those fairytales from when he was a child. Victor smiles sadly at the end of them all, and dreams of a prince of his own.
And Victor in his late 20s, as we see him pre-series. He’s frosted with depression and loneliness; the never-ending cold discs of metal, the isolation from other skaters, people kissing up to him left and right. Everything is predictable. He’s running out of motivation, out of ideas. Victor knows people only want him as what they see when he performs. It’s a saddening thought, that Victor is not lovable as himself. Some people were not meant to find a true love, he supposes.
Until one night, a night we all know well.
The Sochi GPF banquet. Victor is intrigued by this attractive man flitting through the room, clearly intoxicated, but with this charming energy no one can resist. Not even Yuri Plisestky, himself pulled into a dance with Japan’s Yuuri Katsuki.
Victor manages to escape from his sponsors to laugh and point and take pictures from the sidelines. Yuuri whirls past him and the way the light shines on his hair and eyes makes Victor’s breath catch and his heart skip.
Victor watches as Yuuri dances with Chris–and wow, is that a show and a half. Yuuri strides over to Victor and holds him in place, hips shaking and Victor can only stare on in wonder. This beautiful, energetic, charming young man is staring up at him, like he’s the only person in the room. Victor can’t understand Japanese, but that doesn’t matter–what matters is the warmth of Yuuri’s body, the sparkle of his eyes, and the earnestly fond tone he speaks with. Victor’s heart is beating out of his chest and he can’t imagine this moment getting better until-
Be my coach, Victor!
Victor’s face flushes with a little gasp and he can’t find it in himself to refuse the request or the next dance they share together.
As Victor laughs spins and smiles like he hasn’t since child, looking at Yuuri all the while, he can feel it in his chest.
A prince. A prince is with him!
And oh, when Yuuri dips him low, the lights above framing his face and hair like a halo, Victor knows that his prince has finally come for him.
what she means:
I understand that John Simm is the version of the Master that most people - myself included - first became familiar with/hold close to their hearts, but Michelle Gomez is actually a much more faithful reimagining of the character's beginnings and so anyone saying shit about "the REAL Master" being back can sincerely fuck off
I know what I’m talking about. Took me a long time to learn this: There’s nothing wrong with going out and doing what you gotta do. Nothing at all. But when you’re lost, you come home. You don’t run away.
We care so much about these boys and that means also caring for their loved ones. The ones our boys lean on for love and care. Harry has just lost one of his closest. Please respect the family’s wish for privacy. They should not have to deal with even a well-meaning fan right now. My heart and thoughts go out to Robin’s family and friends. I salute you Mr Twist, you seem to have been and incredible man with lots of humor and joy. RIP
can we talk about how freaking PERSONAL that was?! I really don’t remember ANYONE who would speak to Dany with such straightforwardness and gentleness! Khal Drogo always called her either ‘Khaleesi’ or ‘Moon of his Life’, Jorah or Daario - ‘Khaleesi’ or ‘Your Grace’. They all treated her like a Queen (who she obviously is). And here we have Jon Snow. A man who loved once but has tragically lost his beloved. He knows the feeling of loss better than anyone and now he sees this powerful woman going through something heartbreaking. He feels responsible for it and wants to comfort her. Not because he has to. He may know Dany for a short amount of time but already feels emotionally attached to her (and vice versa ;) ). Jon sees more than just the Heir to the Iron Throne. He sees a human being with the surface of a strong and beautiful woman.
