has it seriously been pushed back

I fight like a girl. I fight like a girl who refuses to be a victim. I fight like a girl who’s tired of being ignored, humored, beaten or raped. I fight like a girl who’s been pushed too far. I fight like a girl who’s sick of not being taken seriously. I fight like a girl who doesn’t believe in fear. I fight like a girl who knows that you have as much power as she grants you. I fight like a girl who has a lifetime of anger, strength, and pride pent up in her girly body. I fight like a girl who fights back. [insp]

Patater Parents

(bizarre pretend-play conversation courtesy of my kid and her dolls on the drive home today.  I never did figure it out.)

***

“Daddy?”

Kent looks up from his kindle, eyebrow raised at the small child stood near where his knees are crooked up, feet planted firmly against the side of the coffee table.  He uses his index finger to push his glasses further up his nose.  “Yes, princess?”

She sighs, brushing back a bit of hair which has come loose from her plait, and she primly sits herself near his left side.  “We need to talk.”

Kent bites back a smile, knowing how seriously Irina takes these things.  He’s never been very good at this.  If he had a dollar for every time she’d been thoroughly pissed off with him because he couldn’t contain his giggles when she was trying to be serious, he wouldn’t need his NHL salary.

He sets his kindle to the side, taking that moment to at least attempt to keep himself composed, and he wishes viciously that Alexei were here.  He was so much better at the straight face.

“What’s up, baby girl?”

She crosses her arms over her chest.  “Okay, so … here’s the thing.  I need a cell phone.”

Kent blinks at her.  “A…cell phone.”

She nods sagely.  “Yes.  I need a cell phone.  I’ve thought about it, and I’ve decided it’s time.”

“Irina?”

“Yes, daddy?”

“You’re nine.”

“If you had a chance for a “do-over” in life, what would you do differently?” “I wouldn’t of waited so long to push as hard as I do now in my career. When I was younger I never took a career and freelance as seriously as I do now and looking back I often feel if I pushed harder then I might of been further now. That being said I do believe that every single moment has brought me to this moment in time and I am really happy with the path that I am walking. Believe it or not I was in the fashion industry before. Adamant it was going to be what I wanted to do. I now look back and laugh because it couldn’t be further from my reality if I tried!” ~ Melissa Delport, founder, the @trufflejournal. PALADINS OOOOOOH PALADINS!! BIG NEWS ON THE TOY FRONT!!!
HOPES HAVE BEEN ANSWERED…
Atamaii.tv attended this years Hong Kong’s Toy fair (2017) and has brought us an early look at some of the new Voltron toys that will be released by Playmates Toys!! (most of which have come out BUT…)

PALADINS… WE ARE GETTING PALADIN FIGURES!!!
THANK YOU ATAMAII.TV!!
Take a look they come in around the 3:20 mark

OH MY GOSH I’m SO EXCITED!!! While there doesn’t seem to be anything for Allura or Corin yet… we can only expect the best… now if only we could get the paladins in their “street” attire… Maybe wave 3?
(also, shiro’s arm… o_0? & Hunk looks so sad :( )

With NY Toy Fair just around the corner, I can only imagine will be seeing ALOT more Voltron this year!
Otherwise, keep your eyes out cause these Paladins will be out around the “middle” of the year (so expect summer release?), the die cast combiners, armor accessories/voltron parts, AND the Paladin/Lion rider set will be out in the fall!

my poor, poor wallet…

Random Fandom Rant - That 70′s Show on IFC

All I see are ads for That 70′s Show reruns on IFC that focus on Jackie and Kelso. They kept selling Jackie and Kelso as the big couple of the show.

I guess they are doing this because the actors are married now but come on! Let’s not lie to people who have never seen That 70′s Show before.

In the That 70′s Show universe it is Jackie and HYDE. Not Kelso. HYDE. They are the couple they should be advertising like mad about.

It just annoys the crap out of me that the channel is pushing Jackie and Kelso. What is next? Jackie and Fez.

*SHUDDER*

I have too many feelings about a show that has been off the air for a long time and had the worst last season ever.

Look at them! Seriously! Adorable. That last season should have been about their wedding. That makes sense. Their wedding would bring Eric and Kelso back into the fold. Not just New Years Eve.

There’s a new book out about the student loan crisis, or what author Sandy Baum suggests is a “bogus crisis.” Baum, a financial aid expert and senior fellow at the Urban Institute, claims it has been manufactured by the media in search of a spicy story and fueled by politicians pushing “debt free college” proposals.

We had a few questions for Baum about the book, Student Debt: Rhetoric and Realities of Higher Education.

Roughly 43 million people today hold more than $1.3 trillion in student loan debt. And many are struggling to pay the money back. But you say Americans have been misled about the seriousness of the problem?

I think what is most important is for people to understand that the common image of the student loan problem really misses the point. People have an image of a recent bachelor’s degree recipient who went to college for four years and is now 22-23 years old and is working at Starbucks. Those people are very rare.

People who earn bachelor’s degrees, by and large, do fine.

The problem is that we have a lot of people actually borrowing small amounts of money, going to college, not completing [a degree] or completing credentials that don’t have labor market value. They tend to be older. They tend to come from disadvantaged, middle-income families and they’re struggling. [But] not because they owe a lot of money.
