NEW JJK FIC ~ Part 1
A/N: I still haven’t come up with a title for this yet but I really wanted to get the next part out. Let me know if you guys have any title ideas :)
~ Part 1 ~
“I’m sorry Mr. Jeon, it would be nearly impossible for you to participate now. Some injuries are just too much.” Doctor Song said, her tone smothered in nonchalance .
“There’s gotta be some way! I’ve been doing really well with my exercises, I can barely feel it anymore!” Jungkook argued. He couldn’t believe it, after two months in a cast and three months of physical therapy, they weren’t going to let him play.
“You have just learned how to walk properly again, Jungkook. You are in no condition to play right now The bone has been healed but the muscle tissue in your leg still has quite a long way to go.”
"You don’t understand, Doc. If I’m going to have any chance at going pro I have to 100% this season! They start recruiting soon and I can’t be sitting on the bench! I can’t afford to wait any longer, I have to start the preseason training now!” He argued, the frustration building up quickly. There was no plan B for him after this. He had barely been passing his classes for the past couple of years (which was partly due to his status as the star running back) and he sure as hell hadn’t learned anything from any of them. How the hell was he going to get a career from a business degree when he didn’t know shit about business? It was the Pro League or it was nothing.
“You aren’t ready. I’m sorry. Continue with your physical therapy and maybe things will turn around. But I can’t allow you to participate in the pre-season.” His doctor was firmer this time. She was used to his frustrated attitude, as he acted like this every checkup as if he expected a miracle to have occurred just because he was keeping up with his therapy.
“But then if I come back in I’ll be behind! And what about my scholarship? I’ll lose it if I can’t play!” He said desperately. Again, to no avail. Doctor Song was stubborn, but rightfully so.
"Thank you for coming in today, Mr. Jeon. You can pick up your next set of physical therapy forms at the front desk.” She dismissed him and he had to choice but to walk out and get his papers.
This was unbelievable, he couldn’t play in pre-season, he still had to put up with those shitty physical therapy sessions, and he still might not be able to play at all. This, right now, was literally his worst nightmare. There was no way he could make anything else of himself at this point. There was no plan B. Football was the only reason he was even attending this university.
His blood boiled as he made his way to the front desk. It just wasn’t fair, Jungkook had worked harder than any player on that team, and all because of one stupid injury, one stupid play, everything was for nothing.
In frustration, he turned around slammed his fist against the nearest wall, and a loud echo travelled down the hallway.
“Woah there! Did you find out you’re the dad after all?” A chirpy voice said, causing him to abruptly turn around.
“Excuse me?” He asked in shock. What was this girl on about?
“You look pretty frustrated and you’re standing outside the Plan Parenthood office. Thought it must have to do with a kid.” She smiled cheekily, obviously messing with him.
“Oh, hilarious,” he said sarcastically, not realizing that he had wondered into the wrong wing of the hospital, “but no. The Doc won’t let me play football be-” He starts to explain, unamused.
“Because you broke your leg?” She interrupted, finishing his sentence for him.
“Yeah… How’d you know that?” He asked, suspicious.
She tilted her head to the side and her eyes narrowed,“You’re Jeon Jungkook, right? Everyone knows about you. The game was televised, incase you forgot. The entire district has seen you get plowed over by Kim Yugyeom” She said, looking at him incredulously.
This girl looked familiar, but he couldn’t remember how he knew her. “Do you go to my school or something? I feel like I’ve seen you before.” He asked suddenly.
“Yeah… we’ve had some classes together I think…” She said, her voice noticeably quieter than before.
“Oh… yeah that’s probably it.” He trailed off, leaving an awkward silence between the two of them.
She decided to break it, “Your leg is gonna heal back to normal right? Then you can play again?”
He looked up, his expression somber, “It’s useless, Doc won’t let me train with the team for pre-season.”
She nodded, “Okay… So finish your physical therapy and get in by the time the real season starts.”
Jungkook sighed, shaking his head, “I can’t. It still might not be enough, and even if it is, I’ll be behind.”
She scoffed and rolled her eyes, “Jungkook you’re the best player our school has. There’s no way you can get behind.“
He didn’t know how to respond so he simply shrugged and said "Thanks.”
She smiled slightly, “You can’t give up, Jeon. We’re gonna need number 25 this season.” She told him.
He nodded, again not sure how to answer. She then turned away and left, not giving him a chance to say anything else.
Jungkook smiled to himself as he watched her go. Something about her just left him feeling better, like she had walked away and taken all of his anger with her.
He shook himself out of the happy daze and continued towards the office to pick up his papers, deciding that maybe this girl could be right.
