harry is telling you something

The fact that you're not your House stereotype doesn't mean the Sorting Hat was wrong.

A Gryffindor can be afraid of bugs, have anxiety, appreciate the small and pretty things, be introverted, enjoy lazy afternoons, choose not to fight if they find it smarter.

A Slytherin can be self-conscious, rely on others, love the sunrise, like cheesy pop music, be afraid in the dark, like scented candles, hate snakes, be pacifist and shy.

A Ravenclaw can prefer company to solitude, party loudly, forget about homework now and then, excell at Quiddich, have a learning disability, be a hot mess.

A Hufflepuff can be selfish sometimes, be more rational than expected, enjoy books, be extremely brave, like high heels, have a bright mind, have a bad day.

The fact that you’re not your House stereotype doesn’t mean the Sorting Hat was wrong!

Over the course of the books, characters display a variety of reactions to hearing Harry’s name. Even Ron and Hermione are a little awkward at first.

But Molly Weasley’s reaction is very different from any of the other reactions we see, and hints at the role she’ll play in Harry’s life in later books

If you recall, Fred tells Mrs. Weasley that the black-haired boy they had met on the other side of the platform was Harry Potter. At this point, Harry is on the train, so Mrs. Weasley has no idea Harry can hear her through the compartment window.

But instead of the awe, dislike, or curiosity expressed by other characters, Mrs. Weasley’s first reaction is sympathy and concern.

She refers to him as “poor dear” and “poor boy,” and tells Ginny that Harry “isn’t something you goggle at in a zoo.”

When Fred wonders whether Harry remembers what You-Know-Who looks like, Mrs. Weasley becomes “extremely stern” and forbids Fred from asking Harry about You-Know-Who, saying that Harry doesn’t need to be reminded of something like that on his first day of school.

While the rest of the wizarding world views Harry as the almost mythical boy-who-lived, Mrs. Weasley has always seen Harry as an orphan in need of homemade fudge, hand-knitted jumpers, and a loving family.

Headcannon harry telling his parents about Draco?

I like to pretend that no one actually died, let’s all be in denial together!

“Come on, Draco. They’re going to love you, I promise.” Harry wrapped his arms around Draco’s waist from behind and kissed his cheek, trying to sooth his boyfriend.

“What if they don’t?” Draco asked as he nervously fixed his tie in the mirror. He’d never met the Potter’s before and he was extremely nervous, knowing that their families never got along. “I mean, I’m a Malfoy. You really think they’re going to like me?”

Harry sighed. “I know my mom will love you. My dad might take a while, but he’ll open up eventually.” He turned Draco around and kissed him. Harry smiled at him and softly pushed a loose strand of hair behind his ear. Draco smiled back, what would he do without him? “Oh, and my dad might make really bad jokes, so just ignore him. And also my uncles might be there which would make that worse. I usually tune it out whenever my Dad and Uncle Sirius are in the same room together. Good luck with that.”

“Well, that makes me feel better.” Draco commented sardonically. Harry rolled his eyes and kissed him again.

They Apparated to Godric’s Hollow where Harry’s parents lived. Harry was just about to knock on the door when Draco stopped him. “Wait. Give me a second.” He took a deep breath. Harry put a hand on Draco’s shoulder.

“Hey, can I tell you something?” Draco nodded. “I know for a fact that they’ll love you. You know why?” Draco shook his head. “Because I love you. I love you so much, Draco.”

His boyfriend seemed to calm down a bit. “I love you too, Harry.” They kissed softly, not realising that Lily Potter was standing on the other side of the door, listening. She smiled softly as she heard her son speak so kindly, so full of love. It reminded her of the way James spoke to her before she met his parents.

There was a knock on the door that pulled her out of her trance. James and Sirius ran to open it and Remus walked calmly behind, shaking his head fondly at the two men. Lily opened the door and hugged her son.

“Well, don’t hog him.” James joked. He pulled Harry inside just as Lily let go of him, hugging him and asking how he’d been. Sirius did the same with Draco, pulling him into a headlock and giving him a noogie.

“How’s my favourite nephew doing?” He asked and let Draco go. He stumbled to regain his balance and straightened himself up, fixing his hair. Harry smiled amusedly at the slytherin. He looked like a snake that just wandered into a lion’s den.

“I’ve been good.” Draco answered. “Until you attacked me.” He muttered under his breath.

“Mom. Dad. This is my boyfriend, Draco.”

“Pleasure to meet you, Mr and Mrs. Potter.” He held out a hand for them to shake. Before Lily shook his hand, she turned to her husband and pointed a finger at him.

“Don’t do it.” She scolded, knowing he was about to mimick Draco’s posh accent. James scoffed like he was going to defend himself, but then thought better of it and closed his mouth.

“Nice to meet you too, Draco. Harry has told us so much about you.” Draco smiled at her, grateful for her kindness. “And this is Sirius, James’s boyfriend-” Harry’s father lightly slapped her shoulder. “I mean, best friend. And the only other sane member of this family besides myself is Sirius’s husband, Remus.” She told him, pointing to where Remus was leaning against the wall. He waved at Draco, smiling lightly at him.

“Or as I like to call him, the second hottest person on earth.” Sirius stated and slung an arm around his husband.

“Who’s the first?” Draco asked.

“Me, obviously.” He said, flipping his hair.

“Woah woah wait.” James interrupted. “You don’t think I’m the hottest person on earth?” He asked, looking offended.

“You’re the third hottest, Prongsy.” Sirius winked at him.

“Boyfriends. Told you.” Lily told Draco in a quiet voice. Draco chuckled softly.

The evening had been quite fun and relaxing. The only thing that bothered Draco was that Harry’s father had never talked directly to him. The night was coming to a close when James pulled Draco aside, Lily eyeing him nervously but he sent her a signal that there was nothing to worry about. It was almost creepy how similar Harry and James looked. Draco felt like he was looking at an older version of his boyfriend. Though Harry’s father didn’t have those bright emerald eyes that he adored so much.

“So, you and Harry are pretty serious, huh?” He asked. Draco nodded, not trusting himself to speak. “He seems to really love you. It reminds me a lot of how Sirius and Remus were when they first got together. I can’t say I’m surprised you ended up together though, he was always talking about you, even before you became friends. Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome to the family.”

Draco smiled. “Thank you, sir.”

“Please, call me James.” He pulled the blonde into a hug.

“Oh are we hugging?” He heard Sirius say and join in. “Hey, Evans! Get in here!” He called out. Lily walked in and laughed.

“Boys, you’re smothering the poor lad.” She said and pulled on her husband so he’d let go.

Remus walked in next. “Come now, Pads. I’m sure Draco has had enough of you for one evening.” Sirius detached himself from his nephew and leeched onto Remus instead.

“Can you ever have enough of me, Moony?”

He laughed and kissed his husband on the cheek. “Definitely.”

The cupcake

“We have to help him, Ron.” Hermione told her boyfriend. “You know how he is, if you don’t push him, he will never make the first move.”

“And what do you suggest we do, Hermione? It’s not like we can make her so something… We don’t even know if she likes him back!” He answered.

“Well, I think there is a way.” She smiled. “Come with me to the library.”

“Bloody library.” Ron said under his breath.

“Did you say something?”

“No, nothing at all.”

When Harry entered the 8th year common room Ron and Hermione were going around giving cupcakes to who was there.

“Hello, Harry, do you want a cupcake?” Hermione asked when she saw him.

He grabbed the cupcake she was giving him and ate it while she explained that she had made them herself, not wanting the house elves to have any more work.

“Go give this one to Cho.” She said suddenly and gave him a cupcake that was just slightly different from the one he had just ate.

“Ok…” He looked at her suspiciously.

Hermione smiled at her friend and watched as he went in Cho’s direction to give her the cupcake. What Hermione wasn’t expecting, however, was Malfoy entering the common room in that moment and Harry walking towards him and giving him the bloody spiked cupcake with a nod and a tense “Malfoy”.

Draco looked at Potter weirdly, not knowing what to make out of the situation. Why, in the name of Merlin, was bloody Harry Potter giving him a cupcake like they were some sort of Hufflepuff friends?

“Why are you giving me a cupcake, Potter?” He asked.

“It was Hermione’s idea.” He shrugged. “She’s giving cupcakes to everyone.”

Then, the boy smiled and walked away living Draco looking at the cupcake in his hand stunned.

After looking around the room and seeing everyone enjoying their cupcakes – even Blaise and Pansy, - Draco took a careful bite and promised himself he would never admit aloud just how good the cupcake actually was.

Only Ron saw the look of terror on Hermione’s face as Malfoy ate the cupcake.

“What do you mean, Hermione?” Draco heard someone hissing when he left his dorm room in the middle of the night to go the bathroom

“I mean exactly what I said, Ron.”

“So, Harry gave Malfoy the cupcake he was supposed to give to Cho?”

Draco peeked around the corner at the scene in the common room and saw Granger nodding her head, sitting on the sofa and looking guilty.

“So, what will happen now?” Weasley asked.

“I guess we just have to get ready for a week full of Malfoy… He will want to be with Harry all the time. You know it, Ron, George was the one sending you the potion, he explained everything that would happen once someone had it and, just like he said, the only way it won’t change the person’s behaviour is if they already have feelings for the person who gave it to them. This is Malfoy and Harry we are talking about.”

Draco looked at the two of them in disbelief. If he understood correctly, Granger and Weasley had spiked a cupcake with some kind of love potion George Weasley sold at the store, they gave the cupcake to Potter so he could give it to Cho Chang, but Potter gave the cupcake to Draco and he had eaten it, meaning that he would apparently be in love with Potter for a week.

However, he didn’t feel any different and he knew why: the potion didn’t affect the behaviour of those who already had feelings for the one who gave it to them, or so Granger had said. Draco knew he couldn’t just act like he normally did towards Potter, or else Weasley and Granger would find out the truth about his feelings.

Seeing only one way out, Draco decided that during the week the potion would have effect he would show his love for Harry Potter and then blame it on the potion and make the two Gryffindor idiots who spiked the bloody cupcake pay for it.

When Harry sat at the Gryffindor table the next morning for breakfast he was met with guilty expressions on Ron and Hermione’s faces.

“Good morning.” He greeted while sitting down next to Ron.

“Morning.” Hermione answered even though she didn’t look him in the eyes.

“Ok, what did you do?” Harry asked looking at his two best friends.

Hermione and Ron shared look and Hermione sighed, looking like she was ready to spill whatever they had done, but before she could Malfoy sat down next to her, in front of Harry, and she looked down at her food.

“Hello, Potter.”

“Malfoy.” Harry nodded.

Harry looked at him weirdly, not knowing why the other boy decided to sit with them instead of the Slyhterins. It wasn’t unusual that the houses mixed during meals, however, it was unusual for Malfoy to sit with the Golden Trio.

They ate breakfast in a tense silence and, when they finished, Malfoy got up and said “See you later, Potter” before he exited the Great Hall.

For three days, Malfoy had sat with them for meals. He tried to make conversation and Harry was surprised to see that he actually enjoyed the boy’s company. Malfoy was different from the people Harry usually hang out with; the Slytherin was sarcastic, - sometimes even making mean comments – and his humour was different from what Harry was used to, but, in a way, it was kind of refreshing.

Now, they were both in the library studying for potions; seeing Harry struggling with the lessons, Draco had offered to help and they had already been there for an hour.

“I think it’s enough for today, Potter.”

Harry yawned and nodded, closing his books and putting them in his bag. Draco smiled seeing the sleepy boy that he found adorable.

“Come on, Potter, I don’t think you want to fall asleep in the middle of the library.”

Shaking his head, Draco grabbed Harry’s hand and pulled him out of the library in the direction of the common room, their fingers intertwining in the way and neither of them doing anything to pull them apart. When they got to the common room, they said goodnight to those who were still awake and stopped at the Harry’s bedroom’s door.

“Good night, Harry” Draco smiled and kissed the boy’s forehead, before going to his room and leaving him behind.

The next day, Harry didn’t pay attention in his classes; he was too busy daydreaming about a certain boy. It surprised Harry when, the night before, Malfoy had kissed his forehead; why had he done that? Harry couldn’t tell and, somehow, he didn’t care, as long as the other boy did it again.

At supper, Malfoy sat next to Harry at the Gryffindor table, closer than he had sat the days before, making Harry blush and smile down at his food when he felt their thighs brush. Hermione and Ron had the same guilty expressions they had been wearing for some days now.

“Are you guys ok?” Malfoy asked.

Ron looked at Hermione, nodded his head slightly and she sighed looking up at Harry and Malfoy.

“We have something to tell you both.” She said.

“Ok, tell us.” Malfoy put his fork down.

“Not here” Ron shook his head. “Not in the Great Hall where there are so many people.”

When they finished eating, Ron and Hermione got up and told Harry and Malfoy they would meet them in the common room, so they could talk.

“What do you think they want to tell us?” Harry asked the other boy.

“I think I have an idea, but let’s go and see.”

Draco got up and Harry mirrored his actions and they exited the Great Hall together.

“Harry…” Draco called when they were just about to enter the common room.

“Yeah?”

“I want you to remember that I do what I do because I want to.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“You’ll see. Just don’t forget what I said, ok?”

Harry smiled at the boy in front of him and leaned up to kiss his cheek; Malfoy blushed and Harry thought that the redness in his pale cheeks suited him and decided that he would do anything just to see the other boy flushed again. Malfoy smiled down at him and grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers and pulling him to the common room, where Ron and Hermione were waiting for them in front of one of the fireplaces.

The only other people in the common room were sitting at the table playing chess and Draco knew that the couple in front of the fireplace had decided to talk there because it would be almost empty, as most of the 8th years were still having supper.

Harry and Draco sat next to them and the sight of them sitting so close with their hands clasped and fingers intertwined seemed to make Hermione look like she was about to cry.

“We did something” Ron finally said. “Just don’t get too mad, Harry.”

Harry looked at them feeling slightly scared about what they could have possibly done.

“Ok” he answered. “I’ll try not to get mad.”

“We really didn’t mean for this to happen, Harry,” Hermione rushed. “We just wanted to help you with Cho.”

Harry felt Draco’s hand twitch in his own and gripped it tighter, not really realising what he was doing.

“What do you mean?” He asked his best friends.

“Oh, Harry, we know you like her!”

“But… where did you get that idea from?”

“You told us that you liked someone, but you wouldn’t say who… She was the only person we could think of.”

“I don’t like Cho.” Harry scoffed. “But that’s not the point. What did you do?”

“Remember when I gave out cupcakes on Sunday?”

Harry nodded.

“Well, there was a reason behind it.” She continued quietly.

“Just spit it out already!” Draco exclaimed.

“We spiked one of the cupcakes with one of George’s love potions.”

“What?”

“I gave a cupcake to you and told you to give it to Cho, remember?”

“But I never gave the cupcake to Cho” Harry shook his head. “I gave it to…”

“Malfoy” Ron finished looking at the boy next to Harry.

Draco heard Harry take a deep breath next to him and he could feel the other boy’s rage and betrayal.

“What was the potion supposed to do?”

“For a week, the person who drank it would act in love with the person that gave it to them, unless they already have feelings for each other, then they would act the same.”

There was a thick silence in the air and Draco felt like hexing the two people sitting in front of him when he felt Harry’s hand go limp and stop squeezing his own.

“So, what you are trying to tell me is that, for the past days, Dr-Malfoy has been nice to me because of some potion?”

Ron and Hermione didn’t answer, but they didn’t need to; Harry already knew it and, somehow, it really hurt to know that Malfoy had done everything because of a potion. Draco felt his heart drop when Harry got up without a word and left to his room, not looking back.

“Don’t you have anything to say?” Hermione looked at Draco.

“I already knew.”

“How come?”

“I heard you talking about it on Sunday night.”

“You did? Then why didn’t you try and fight the potion?”

“Why would I fight something that didn’t even work in the first place?”

Hermione and Ron fell silent and Draco just sighed and got up.

“I know you are Gryffindors and all, but not even I thought you could be this stupid!”

The Gryffindors watched as he went to his room and when he was out of sight Ron looked at Hermione with a scared expression.

“Did he mean what I think he meant?”

Harry ignored the other three the following days. His best friends tried talking to him and apologize, but he wouldn’t let them.

Seeing that the boy preferred being left alone, Draco didn’t try talking to him and decided that the best he could do was wait until the week of the potion ended so Harry would believe him.

So, on Monday after supper, Draco grabbed Harry’s hand and pulled him to his room, determined to talk to him and to make him see the truth, because some days showing Harry his love wasn’t enough for him.

“What do you want, Malfoy?”

“Why do you call me Malfoy again?”

“Isn’t that your name?”

“No! My name is Draco, that’s what you should call me, just like you did this past week.”

“You were under a potion’s influence.”

“No, I wasn’t.”

“What?”

“The potion doesn’t work when the person already has feelings for the one who gave the potion to them.” Draco walked closer to Harry and felt really accomplished when Harry blushed.

“What do you mean?”

Draco rolled his eyes playfully.

“I know you are a Gryffindor, but you’re not so dense, Harry, you know exactly what I mean.” He leaned down and kissed the boy’s lips lightly. “I did what I did because I wanted to, not because of some stupid Weasley, potion.”

And then he kissed him harder and Harry rested his hand on the blond’s chest gasping in surprise when he felt the rapid pace the heart beneath his hand was beating in. Draco took advantage of the gasp to slip his tongue in the other boy’s mouth and both of them saw little colourful sparks behind their eyelids.

“Draco” Harry whispered when they parted to breathe.

Draco just smiled and pushed Harry to lay on the bed slipping in next to him and putting his arms around him protectively.

“I hope you know that I will have to get revenge somehow” he said. “They don’t have the right to poison me, even if it didn’t work!”

“I’ll help you” Harry smiled at the Slytherin.

They cuddled closer to each other and let sleep overtake them.

You held your cheek in shock as you stared at Kimberly in front of you. You watched as her chest was breathing hard. You noticed how her eyes that were once filled with anger and frustration faded into sadness.

The security guard that worked on your office floor quickly ran up to the commotion. Your coworker, Olivia, was quick to yell at him for “Not coming fast enough” and motioned for him to take Kimberly away.

As the guard placed his hand on Kimberly, asking her to come with him, Kimberly looked at you and whispered, “I’m sorry” before she followed him to the elevators. As you watched Kimberly leave, Olivia and the rest of your coworkers were quick to check up on you. Olivia inspected your cheek while she exclaimed, “Crazy bitch! What the fuck was that? Are you okay?”

As soon as the elevator doors opened, you ran out, hoping Kimberly was still in the building. You instantly saw her walking out the doors. “Kimberly!” You shouted before you ran after her. Kimberly turned around at the calling of her name. When you finally caught up to her, she sighed. She wrapped her arms around herself. For the first time since you’ve known Kimberly, this was the fist time she ever looked vulnerable. She always walked around with such confidence and a “No shits given” attitude but as you were staring at her, all of that was gone.

Kimberly instantly saw your red cheek from where she slapped you. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I didn’t mean to slap you like that. Especially in front of your coworkers.” Kimberly softly said as she stared at ground. You quickly shook your head. “It’s okay” You assured her before you placed your hand on her arm. “Is everything alright?”

Kimberly looked at your hand before she looked up at you. Suddenly she let out a small cry before she wrapped her arms around you, pulling you in for a hug as she cried into your shoulder. Your eyes went wide before you slowly returned the hug. You noticed the people walking by the two of you were staring and probably wondering why a girl was sobbing in another girl’s arms in the middle of the sidewalk.

“Shh. Shh. Come on. Let’s talk.” You said.

You gave Kimberly a couple of tissues before you sat down on the couch next to her. You lead Kimberly back into your office building. As the two of you were sitting down in the lobby, her sobbing stopped but her tears continued to spill. Kimberly was grabbing the ends of her hair while you mentally debated what you should say.

Kimberly was the first to break the silence. “Harry told me that you guys rekindled last night in our meeting today.”

Your cheeks went red as your mouth opened in shock. You couldn’t believe Harry would tell her something happened when you didn’t even know for yourself what was going on between the two of you. Kimberly glanced at you before looking away. “He told me how you guys reconnected at Niall’s wedding last night.”

Harry walked into the conference room with a smile on his face as he read your latest text to him. Not only was he happy he had his best friend back, he could finally tell you all the things he wanted to tell you but couldn’t because of his feelings for you. Kimberly was sitting one one side of the table her lawyer while his lawyer was sitting on the other side. Harry looked over at Kimberly with a lopsided grin as he took his seat. “Kimberly, how are you, love?”

Kimberly was staring at Harry with her eyebrows raised. Out of all the meetings they’ve had so far with their lawyers, Harry was never this happy. This was always a serious matter and here he was acting like he was walking on cloud nine. “What’s wrong with you?” she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Harry sent one last text to you before he put his phone away. “Nothing. Let’s start.”

After the meeting, both lawyers stepped aside to go over last minute decisions and details. Kimberly was picking up her purse, getting ready to leave when Harry gently placed his hand on her shoulder. Kimberly turned around to her almost ex-husband. Harry scratched the back of his neck while he thought carefully how to word what he was about to say.

“Kimberly, love, I know these meetings have been hard. It’s been tough for the both of us.” Harry said as he looked at someone he once thought he was going to spend forever with.

Kimberly nodded as she clutched on to her purse tighter against her body. Harry continued, “I just wanted to tell you that I recently got back in touch with Y/N. We were at Niall’s wedding together last night.” Harry smiled as he thought about the night you guys spent together last night. “And I just want you to know that she’s not the reason we’re getting a divorce. I just feel like we both rushed into things by getting married. We weren’t ready-”

When Kimberly heard your name, she couldn’t hear anything else. She didn’t listen to Harry’s excuse on why he asked for a divorce. She didn’t care. All she could see was red. She knew telling Y/N to stay away from Harry was a good idea. Now look what happened when Y/N didn’t listen. Harry was asking for a divorce because of Y/N. This was all Y/N’s fault.

Kimberly stared at her ring finger that once had the most beautiful ring could ever ask for. She sighed as she wiped away her tears with the sleeve of her sweater. “Harry and I…we were so happy. I only agreed to the divorce because I was hoping that Harry would somehow come to his senses and realize he was making a mistake. I was hoping that he would realize he loved me.”

You looked into Kimberly’s tearing eyes, beginning to feel nothing but guilt. Kimberly continued, “But when he told me about you coming back? I thought this was it. Harry’s going to get a divorce and be with you.” Kimberly placed her face into her hands and let out a sob. “I just feel like such a failure.”

Hesitatingly you scooted closer to Kimberly and placed your arms around her, pulling her in for a hug. Kimberly returned the hug as she continued into your shoulder.

You rubbed her back soothingly as you closed your eyes and sighed. You remembered clearly to the day that Kimberly told you to stay away from Harry. You remembered feeling so angry at her for even thinking about saying such of a thing to you. Now, as you were looking at the girl afraid she was losing her husband, you realized it wasn’t a threat; it was Kimberly’s way of crying for help.

You pulled away from the hug and held her at arm’s length. “I’m going to fix this, okay?” You pulled her in again and sighed as you hugged her. “I’m going to fix everything…”

Harry wrapped his arms from behind you as you were taking the takeout boxes out of the bag. He sighed contently as he buried his face into the crook of your shoulder.

Having Harry holding you like this should’ve made you smile. You should’ve felt butterflies in your stomach but for now all you felt was guilt and a bitter taste in your mouth. You gently shrugged Harry off as you grabbed two plates from the cabinet.

Harry proceeded to bring the boxes of food to the dining room table. “How was your day, love?” You sighed as you took your seat across from him. You stared at Harry as he began to put food on his plate. You bit your lip before you asked, “What are we doing, Harry?”

Harry paused as he was taking some rice out of the box before he continued. “We’re having dinner.” Harry said as he gave you a playful look.

You shook your head as you leaned in closer. “No. What are we doing, Harry? You’re married.” Harry stuck his finger at you as he corrected you, “Getting a divorce.”

“Yes. But still married.” You shot back. Harry sighed as he put his plate down. You glanced between his eyes and his plate. “Kimberly stopped by my office today.”

Harry’s eyes went wide before you continued, “She was in tears, Harry.” Harry sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. You whispered, “She told me she thought you guys might still have a chance.”

Harry reached over and placed his hand on top of yours. “Love, I’m sorry that you’re in the middle of this. I’m sorry that she came and talked to you. I’ll bring that up the next meeting we have but please believe me when I say I want to pursue a relationship with you.”

You took your hand out of Harry’s hold as you got up from the table. “Is that fair when you haven’t even pursued your marriage with Kimberly?”

Harry stood up as well and began walking towards you. “Marrying Kimberly was mistake. It was stupid on my part when I knew I had feelings for you. I should’ve been all in it if I was marrying someone.”

You looked down at the floor as you wrapped your arms around yourself. “Before you knew about my feelings for you, you were all in it. You believed that you were going to be with Kimberly for the rest of your life.”

Harry opened his mouth but you were quick to say, “Because of me, I ruined someone’s marriage. I hurt Kimberly. I ruined everything for her. I’m a home wrecker.”

Harry shook his head quickly as he placed his hands on your arms. “Love, you didn’t ruin anything. Our marriage was going to end eventually.”

You shook your head. “You don’t know that.”

Harry closed his eyes momentarily. “I do know it! Because throughout my whole marriage, all I could think about was you! All I could see when I was looking at Kimberly was you! Kimberly was a distraction from you!”

As you listened to Harry’s words you couldn’t help but tear up. You have loved Harry for so long and hearing him say the words you’ve always wanted to hear; you couldn’t enjoy it. Instead your mind drifted to the girl that was crying in your arms today. You couldn’t help but think what if it was you on the other side? What if you were in Kimberly’s shoes? What if you were marrying Harry and you truly, truly thought you guys were going to be together for the rest of your life? What if deep down, Harry wasn’t happy and wanted to be with someone else?

How could you do that to someone?

Harry was staring into your tear filled eyes, trying to get an idea of what was going on in that beautiful min of yours. You looked at Harry and shook your head. “I can’t do this.”

Harry’s mouth fell open. He could hear his heart physically breaking at the thought of losing you again. “Whatever is going on between us, I can’t do it. I can’t do that to someone.”

Harry’s eyes began to fill with his own tears. “So we’re back to where we started? We’re going to go back to not talking for a whole fucking year?”

You placed your hands on Harry’s cheeks in hopes of calming him down. “I can’t go back to that. Not having you in my life was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

Harry placed his hand on top of yours as he let out a sniff. You wrapped your arms around Harry, pulling in for a hug. He let out a shaky sigh as he wrapped his arms around your waist. “So what does this mean for us?”

You let out a chuckle as a very tanned Emma and Niall took a seat across from you. “You guys look great!” You laughed.

Emma smiled. “Hawaii was awesome! Everyone is so nice there and the food-”

“So how are things going between you and Harry?” Niall said with a smile on his face. When Niall and Emma got back from their honeymoon, they immediately wanted to catch up. You sighed as you thought about what happened a couple nights ago. After telling Harry you couldn’t be with him romantically, the two of you vowed to be what you guys knew best; best friends.

It was definitely hard. There were times when you looked at Harry and just wanted to feel of his lips on yours again. There were times where the two of you were cuddling while watching a movie and you just wanted to tell him how much you loved him but you couldn’t.

You proceeded to tell Niall and Emma everything that happened. You told them how Kimberly came into your office and slapped you, you told them how she cried in your arms in the lobby, and most importantly you told them your decision to remain friends with Harry.

When you finished talking you noticed how both Niall and Emma were quiet. Niall had his arms crossed as he stared away from you while Emma had her mouth closed. Emma shrugged her shoulders and let out a sigh, “I suppose. If this is what you want, Y/N.”

You were about to respond before Niall interrupted abruptly. “No. No Y/N. You’ve wanted Harry for years. And once you finally have the chance to be with him, you throw it away to spare someone you don’t even like? Kimberly has always been awful to you! She’s threatened you, she’s horrible to you and you respond by letting her walk all over you? No. This isn’t fair. Why does her feelings trump yours?”

You were staring at your lap as Emma softly placed her hand on top of Niall’s. “Honey, calm down.” Emma said softly.

Niall shook his head. “Y/N. You’re one of my best friends. I’ve seen you hurt for so long and I’ve seen you put others before yourself. You’re a good person, Y/N. I can’t just stand back and watch you throw your happiness away. I know, Emma knows, everyone with eyes knows that you and Harry belong together. What’s stopping you?”

You let out a sigh as you finally looked up at Niall. “I’m scared of being with Harry.”

i love hearing from you guys! let me know what you guys thought/ want to see what happens! do you feel any sympathy for kimberly? let me know!

So I wrote a thing in response to this post.  It makes a few specific references and really only makes sense if you look at that first, but I didn’t want to add this on by reblogging because 1) I don’t want to start an argument or anything (though I think I’ve kept it civil, it’s just a different opinion, I just like to really examine each point and why I disagree okay) and 2) it’s over 1500 words SO

Basically the post is about how Harry should have become the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and I respectfully disagree and here’s why

I have a fricking midterm tomorrow what am I doing

There is something very telling in this moment..

Harry says something causing Louis to laugh (you can tell it wasn’t what Liam was saying because he’s looking directly at his boy).

Harry’s reaction couldn’t be any sweeter even if he tried.

That’s how my gramps reacts when he says something my ginny (grandma) finds really funny.

Even to this day, he would completely stop in amazement that he made her laugh and we see how fulfilled and accomplished he is whenever he makes it happen. We get caught in a world only they understand. It’s so pure and magical.

This my friends, is complete and utter devotion and it deserves to be recognized.

  • Harry: Draco?
  • Draco: Harry.
  • Harry: I- I have something to tell you.
  • Draco: I already know.
  • Harry: Really?
  • Draco: Yes.
  • Harry:
  • Harry: Are you sure we're both on the same page here though, because it's kind of important.
  • Draco: Weren't you going to profess your undying love for me because the undeniable sexual tension strongly wrapped around us for years has finally consumed you and you can no longer keep your most intimate desires hidden beneath all that sass?
  • Draco: Because I really can't think of any other thing you have to say.
  • Harry: Actually, I was going to say I think I left the faucet running back at my flat.
  • Draco:
  • Harry:
  • Harry: But that works too! What you said works fine!
  • Draco: I will drown you when we get back.
  • Harry: I love you.
  • Draco: I. Will. Drown. You.

You had gotten used to Harry’s long hair. You were used to your fingers braiding it, putting it in a bun for him when was doing something, playing with it. So Harry didn’t tell you that he was going to cut his precious hair, deciding to leave it a surprise.

Not only did you get used to it, so did your 1 and half year old daughter, Lilly, did too.
So when Harry decided to chop his precious hair, he didn’t tell you; deciding to leave it as a surprise.
He told you he was going to discuss things with Jeffery after you had breakfast, kissed you and his daughter goodbye before leaving.

You were holding Lilly’s arms as she wobbled around, you cheering for her when you heard the sound of key rattle and the door opening. “Daddy’s here!” You said excitedly, holding her hand and slowly walking towards the door as you looked at her, careful she doesn’t hit anything.

“Hi, you two!” Harry grinned. You looked up with a smile only to have it fall when you saw him.

“Holy fu-shi-Oh my God, your hair!” You exclaimed, looking at his — now — short hair.

Harry ran his fingers through it with a grin. “You like it?”

“I-” You were interrupted when you heard Lilly’s loud crying, looking down to see her hiding behind your leg.

Harry frowned, approaching her, only to have her scream louder. You bent down, holding her waist as she hugged you, crying on your shoulder. You carried her, rubbing her back. “What’s wrong, baby?” You cooed, turning so she can see Harry which made her hide her face in your neck. “It’s just daddy, baby. What’s wrong?”

You nodded towards the living room, walking and having Harry follow you before you both sat on the couch, Harry’s hand rubbing Lilly’s back gently. “I think it’s the hair.” You smiled at him before holding Lilly out and making her sit on your lap.

“Hey, baby,” Harry cooed, “What’s wrong? Am I scaring you?”

She looked at him with her big green eyes, tears falling down her cheek as her crying turned to quiet whimpers. “Dadda,” She said quietly with a squeak.

“Yes, baby, it’s dadda. I just cut my hair. I’m still me.” He opened his palms for her, signaling for her to come to him. When she raised her arms, Harry instantly took her, setting her on his lap. “Just the hair, baby.”

You ran your fingers through his hair, looking at it.
Lilly stopped crying, her frown replaced with giggles as Harry started tickling her once she became comfortable with his new look.

Two hours later, Harry had put her to have her nap before going to kitchen where you were making lunch. You grinned at him, pressing your body on his as he held you with a smile on his face. You looked at his hair again, putting your fingers through it, running them down gently.

“You like it?” He asked quietly, staring at you.

You nodded, “I love it. I can see you more like that actually. Look at that jaw.” You giggled before tracing his jaw with your index, feigning a hissing sound as if you had cut your finger making Harry laugh.

“I was worried you wouldn’t like it.” Harry admitted, putting his hands under your shirt to trace circles on your skin.

“And do what? File for a divorce?” You joked, “You look incredible. I mean it.”

“You can still tug at it, you know?” He wiggled his eyebrows, leaning down to press his lips on yours.

Stardust

There are things that are meant to happen, written in the stars and tattooed in invisible ink in the air. They’ll happen no matter which turn you take in the path of life, or how many delays are in the way. They’ll wait for you right until the end, when it’s time for a new beginning.
This was probably not one of those things.
That probably doesn’t change anything.

Harry almost missed her, didn’t see her in the large and unruly group that was walking to the last table on the restaurant, and frankly, that’d have been for the best, but then Gemma back tensed, making her look a little bit too uptight on her seat while she tried to look away from the group and smile awkwardly to the air.
At first Harry thought it was one of Gemma’s ex boyfriends, cause God knows she had a couple of awful ones, and as he looked again at the group, ready to mock the large head on this one guy she dated years ago, he felt the oh so familiar pang on his chest. It wasn’t hurtful anymore, not like the first few times he had seen her after it all went down, but still, it was hard to breathe for a couple of seconds, only able to look at the way her eyes sparkled a little bit as she laughed at something.
“Wanna go?” Gemma whispered lowly, frowning her perfectly shaped brows as she looked at her little brother.
“Nah,” He smiled sweetly at her, that smile that could end wars and probably make flowers grow on the ground. “I’m ok. Starving, though.”
Gemma decided to leave it at that, fully aware that that was probably all she was getting from him. But if she knew him well, and she did, there had to be a bitter taste in his mouth, the loud thump of his heart drumming in his ears, while the heavy feeling settled in his body and made a home out of it. It was called heartbreak and she had experienced once or twice before, although, she could never feel anything as intensely as Harry did, so that had to be hell.
The girl could probably have lived without knowing that Harry was sitting right across the restaurant, with his long legs hooked around the legs of the stool and his head hanging low as his sister leaned into him. There was no pang for her, no bitter taste or feeling in her body at the sight of the boy, but a black hole, a void that turned her into a numb doll. She would have wondered if she was still breathing, but the prickling of her eyes as she tried to look away made her sure that she was still alive. Just barely.
She had loved him, the kind of love that sets you on fire and watches you burn slowly, and then when it leaves, you can’t bear the thought to let it go, cause even if it hurts, even if the memory of it leaves you breathless from time to time, even that is better than to live without it. She still loved him, and it fucking hurt.

Harry: I need to tell you something. It’s a secret and it’s very important.

Ron: oh sure mate, go ahead.

Harry: Malfoy and I, you see…

Ron: yes?

Harry: uh, we’re kinda- um.

Ron: y e s ?

Harry: dating.

Ron: Oh, yeah, well duh. I thought that much was obvious.

Ron: Now what’s this secret you mentioned?
