Happy Birthday Jessica Phyllis Lange [April 20, 1949]
“Be present and open to the moment that is unfolding before you. Because, ultimately, your life is made up of moments. So don’t miss them by being lost in the past or anticipating the future. Don’t be absent from your own life.”
Be present. I would encourage you with all my heart just to be present. Be present and open to the moment that is unfolding before you. Because, ultimately, your life is made up of moments. So don’t miss them by being lost in the past or anticipating the future.
happy birthday, jessica phyllis lange // april 20, 1949 // “for me, acting was always a way to explore emotions - to dip into the well and really try to reach rock bottom
down there. That was the most exciting part of it. I hadn’t found
anything that really allowed me to do that until I came upon acting.”
Happy Birthday to my angel, my love, my dream - Jessica Phyllis Lange
(sorry in advance if this is somewhat long)
My dearest Jessica,
The first time I laid eyes on you was when I watched Prozac Nation. At the time I was crazy into psychological films or films about depression and I just needed to watch it. I liked the character of Ms. Wurtzel, but I still wasn’t a die hard fan of yours.
Then I came across a strange film called Sybil. I was very hesitant to watch it because it kind of freaked me out, the concept and whatnot, but I could not be more grateful or fortunate to have made that impulsive decision at 4am on that hot summer night to watch the documentary because that is the moment I fell completely head over heels in love with you.
I can’t even begin to explain how absolutely captivating, extraordinary and talented you are - you’re like every quality a woman can hope to attain as she ages rolled into a quite possibly perfect human being. You’re beautiful, sexy, elegant, graceful, fierce and absolutely timeless.
I haven’t seen your full filmography yet, seeing as I started halfway through last summer and hope to complete it by the end of this summer, but I know you’re one of the best actresses to ever exist.
Thanks to you I am more well rounded - your films have introduced me to many aspects of the world I would have otherwise been hidden from. I also wouldn’t have met half of the absolutely glorious humans I have through twitter.
Jessica, I have to end this by saying you make me so emotional and you also push me to work so much harder in life. You’re brilliant onstage and off - and I want to be just like you, although I know I could never possibly be as perfect as you are.
Thank you for existing and being angelic in every sense of the word, you deserve to have a really great birthday with your daughters or maybe your lover? I hope you have as fabulous a day as you are. I love you so much.
(p.s. I’m 16 and you’re 64 and I often get made fun of that I absolutely worship and idolize you so thank you for giving me a voice to stand for up for myself all sassy like you.)
