hey @ goyim could y'all reblog this if you're actually willing to listen to Jewish people and protect us?
we really need allies right now, and I know seeing this on people’s blogs could be comforting to other Jewish people. But please don’t do this as performative allyship- actually try and help us irl, or at least learn about antisemitism enough to spot it and call it out.
i’m just thinking about something griffin said in the new ttazz, about how the mcelroys are 4 cishet white dudes, and they didn’t want to only tell stories about cishet white dudes. there’s a post i saw a while ago that essentially said, “write stories with diverse characters, but don’t tell stories that you don’t understand.” like, white people should absolutely have people of color in our stories, but we can’t write about being a person of color because it isn’t our story to tell. and i feel like the adventure zone handled this pretty damn well. taako is a gay man who is dating another man. he doesn’t go through a big emotional struggle because of his sexuality, he doesn’t have a coming out scene, he doesn’t have to deal with homophobic attacks, because justin is straight and he isn’t able to talk about being gay because he isn’t. lup is a trans woman whose gender isn’t talked about- not because it isn’t important, but because griffin is cis and doesn’t know what being trans is like. i mean, they also aren’t wizards and elves and stuff, but wizards and elves and stuff aren’t real people with real struggles. the characters’ orientations and genders are part of them but not the defining part of them. justin and griffin roleplay taako and kravitz just as they would roleplay a dude and a lady who were dating: a little awkwardly, because they’re brothers, but organically and immersively. idk, this post is too long and somewhat incoherent, but i just love these boys and this story and these characters so much
i actually really love that davenport has the consistent nickname of cap’nport during stolen century ok
listen- in d&d lore, gnomes usually have a ton of nicknames. there are different ones used by family members and groups of friends and whatnot. the concept of having just one name is weird to them. but they usually pick one favorite name to use with other races, since other races really arent used to having a ton of names for one person.
so davenport probably chose to use that name because it sounds official and serious. fitting for a captain. and maybe he misses all his silly nicknames from back home sometimes, but he gets more and more used to this one name he has as he goes through his training.
and then this little group of people he’s stuck with for 100 years start calling him “cap’nport.” a sort of goofy nickname specific to this group of close friends who crack further through his shell every year. and he’d never admit it, but it’s really nice. they’re his family.
I just finished the final episode of the Balance Arc and like, I can’t believe how kind the narrative of the whole thing is.
Their interdimensional ship runs on love!
The real magic was literally the friends they made along the way!
The found and lost and found again family repeatedly chooses to stick together against all odds!
The character growth is grounded in learning to accept help and strengthening relationships instead of tearing them apart!
The romances are born out of mutual respect and not needlessly complicated with miscommunication for conflict!
Happiness and hope aren’t seen as naive, but as desirable states of being!
Characters are allowed to be vulnerable and feel pain and aren’t mocked for it!
Not only is death not a vengeful, capricious, or malicious entity, but he’ll probably make you pancakes in the morning!
They got called out for playing into a gross trope by killing off some of the women who love women and instead of being defensive about it they brought them back to life as BENEVOLENT, PROTECTIVE, STREET RACING DRYADS.
It’s not perfect. Pobody’s nerfect. But it was created with love at its core. Those dumb boys set out to kill some time and ended up sending more love and general good feelings out into the world than I think they’ll ever realize. They did good and I hope they feel good about it.
hey guys jw but whats so funny about constantly characterizing one person in a gay ship as being overbearing and desperate for attention and the other as literally not wanting to be around them and being genuinely annoyed by them? whys it so hard to imagine two dudes in a happy, balanced relationship where they both enjoy each others company?
“But ultimately what is most important is surrounding yourself with positive people and striving for happiness and balance in your life. I think it’s important to stay educated on what is happening around the world to really have perspective on your own life, it’s very easy to take things for granted.” - Phoebe Tonkin
I saw this post by @cosmic-witch and realized… I don’t think I’ve ever seen correspondences written up for types of wine before! So I spent some time and put some together based on their flavors/aromas/etc. Enjoy, wine-loving witches!
Wine in general is associated with happiness, success, love, relationships, and offerings.
