MY FAVORITE BIBLE VERSES by bananena

Dwayne and I were talking about favorite Bible verses, and I realized that I’d never made a list of mine before, so here is what I came up with! I didn’t read Book of Job until my college years, but the others have been with me since #pubescent times. DISCLAIMER THO: I still haven’t read most of the Bible (The Children’s Book of the Bible just does not count) :(

I know that my Redeemer lives

and that in the end he will stand up on the earth.

After my skin has been destroyed,

yet in my flesh I will see God;

I myself will see him with my own eyes–I, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me!

Job 19:25-27

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’

I said, 'Sovereign Lord, you alone know.’

– Ezekiel 37:1-3

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

– Romans 8:20-23

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

– John 1:14

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

– 2 Corinthians 14:1-6

LOVE THE ENDING TO THAT PART TOO, I used to recite it to myself: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”

Now I am thinking WOW IT SEEMS I HAVE A PATTERN OF DRAMA AND BODIES?? Would never have noticed before :O

ALL THE FEELINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHEESY CRYING LYFE

What are your guys’ favorites?

poser mormon lyfe: catholic edition

[Henri Nouwen Lenten reflections & Stations of the Cross booklets from today pictured alongside bb wolf Ignatius since he is Catholic]

Today the sister missionaries asked if I was free at 5pm, which happened to be the same time as Fish Fryday at the Catholic student center

so I invited them to come with me and we went down to the basement kitchen where they also hold Sunday school (The sisters: “It looks kind of like Institute!”) where we had fish, shrimp, crab cakes, coleslaw, tater tots, salad, mac & cheese, salad, and fruit (SO MUCH FOOD?!) at a table with three Catholic girls

The Catholic girls approved of my (lack of) religious background which was so sweet and also of that of the Mormon girls which was even sweeter

They asked, “Do you do Lent in your church?”

The sister missionaries said, “We don’t, but we like to do it anyway, this year we’re giving up sugar, like baked goods”

and the Catholic girls said, “That’s awesome!” and shared what they were giving up too

and all the girls just kept asking questions about each other’s churches and toats bonded over Jesus

Soon the sister missionaries had to leave but we agreed to have more free-food-on-campus dates soon

Then I stayed for Stations of the Cross and omg u guise it was so emo I cried

As we retrace your saving steps to Calvary, reveal to us how your Cross has become the new tree of life for all creation.
May your mother, Our Lady of Sorrows, who walked those painful steps with you, accompany us.
May she guide us along your way that leads through sacrifice and death to true life.
Make known in our minds and hearts the power of your Cross,
our only hope.

Wishing you a beautiful Lent,

with love,
