Coray designed the chair for the Swiss Expo 1939, as a showpiece of the swiss aluminum industry, 1.500 were produced. When the fair was over, visitors could buy them for 5 Franken. It is one of the first successful examples of swiss industrial design. The original chair had a row of 7 holes, the later editions got 6.
