Something’s afoot in Florence: menswear Mecca Pitti Uomo kicks off today. (Speaking of kicks, how lovely are the monkstraps on the left, created by Ivan Crivellaro II for Italian style icon Lino Ieluzzi of Al Bazar.) Watch for our reports from the fair later this week, and in the meantime, check out our coverage of last winter’s Pitti: http://bll.nr/0WFml
Do you remember the crocheted Mary Janes that I blogged about HERE? I used these Mary Jane photos to announce that we were having a girl on the blog last October! I made three pairs in total and gifted two of them to our friends. We kept the pink and grey ones that I made with Lion Brand Yarn’s Vanna’s Choice (using left over yarn from my pink and grey elephants HERE) for our sweet baby Brielle and did a photoshoot a month ago to show them off! Haha sadly her feet are now too big for them as she is growing like crazy, but I’m glad that we have these adorable photos for us to remember how chubby her cute little feet are!
The free pattern for these “Double Strapped Baby Mary Janes” by ChiWei of “One Dog Woof” can be found HERE! It’s such a cute pattern, and as you all know, I love making handmade items for my girls
❤ Keep this pattern in mind if you’re looking to crochet some footwear for the baby girls in your life!
The Department of Spectacular Shoes is currently bickering over who gets to try on these wicked shipwreck and sea monster-themed wedges first. Round Rock, TX-based artist Kayla Stojek handmade these custom Extreme “ShipWreck” Spiked Tentacle Wedges. They feature LED-illuminated ships, tentacles, claws, the spikiest of spikes, an anchor, sparkly crystals, and a dazzling holographic finish. They’re as much works of outrageous sculpture as they are absolutely functional shoes.
You can order your own awesomely monstrous pair of shoes like these via Stojek’s Zombie Peepshow Etsy shop along with all sorts of other over-the-top designs.
Fine news for footwear aficionados, Jermyn Street shoemaking authority @edwardgreen1890 has a new, rather elegant website. Read more about it on TheRake.com now… #Rakish #Shoemaker #Luxury #British #MensShoes #Handmade #Footwear #New #Website #Contemporary #Menswear #TheRake (at The Rake magazine)
